Subject: Week 7 Trades

  Posted by: Ira - [401017811] Wed, Nov 23, 2005, 23:41

well, that Pitkanen drop totally caught me off guard.. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to expect it.

I guess I'll go Pitkanen>Visnovsky for long term.

Jagr>Hossa on Sunday (Or do we make in Saturday?)
Jagr has a 4 day break, but then the Rangers have a 6 in 10...

Prospal>Gaborik on Sunday
Prospal will have 4 in 16, and Gaborik will have 11 in 21.

Ottawa has a 1 in 5 stretch next week, so I'm movin Markkanen to Labarbera..

Fri: Jagr->Heatly, Alfie or Gagne
Prospal->Frolov, or Gaborik
All my useless goalies->Labarbera

Ottawa has a 5 in 8.
A Jagr-Heatly-Jagr flip nets a 7 in 10 but miss the jagr vs wash and pitt games.
A Jagr-Gagne-Jagr nets a 7 in 10 and Jagr only misses the washington game.
Only problem is that it's 2 trades for such a vital short term move.
Decisions decisions.

actually,

Jagr>Gagne>Jagr would look really nice to gain 4 games in 6 days.

I hate using 2 trades for a 6-day player :(

Just remembered I have Vorobiev.
So I'll go Vorobiev>Svatos.

As for Pitkanen, will he continue to drop? He's been playing amazing lately, but if I have to trade him to Visnovsky or McCabe, then I will.

I think a lot managers are going to be wrestling with the Jagr -> Heatley/Gagne dilemma.

Gagne has more big game potential, IMO, and getting him assures a return trip to Jagr in time for a game against Pittsburgh, which could yield limitless possibilities. But then, Heatley is arguably more consistent and less of a threat to put up a plus/minus stinker.

I'll think about that one, in the meantime:

Forsberg -> Demitra (11/24)
Jagr -> Heatley/Gagne (11/25)
Baumgartner -> McCabe (11/25)

I'll probably do

Jagr --> Gagne
Näslund --> Jagr

Works better than Jagr-Gagne-Jagr or Jagr-Heatly-Jagr

Gaborik is enticing as well... I think I'd like to have at least 2 more winger-slots.

Pitkanen took a big RV hit due to a low trading day yesterday. If you let him go today (seeing that he has 4 games this week) it will be a wasted trade, as he won't go down much at all today (other than the lemming movers).

I sure hate to give up Jagr tomorrow before the Wash game, but he will start the big slide then.

Having Gagne for 4 compared to Jagr's 1 makes it a bit easier to take though.

I can't miss the Jagr - WAS game. I am ignoring the b2b games for OTT and PHI except going Prospal to Gagne. I see myself going with some OTT guys for there 3 in 4 on the 29th.

Looking at going Jagr - Hossa or Plaffy.

I ended up going Prospal > Gagne today. Truthfully, I'm just pissed off at Prospal's recent production. Other than that, I am going with team goalie. I committed to Emery yesterday, might have been a day premature with LaBarbera/Auld options now, but I just went with it. If Hasek is starting tommorrow, I'll pick him up. If not, I'll get him the next day.

Other than that my plans are all laid out, and I decided to not get McCabe just yet. I just can't pay 6 mil for a Dman right just because I am studded out in every other spot.

Hopefully this will be a trade conservaion week. I have 2 planned ones right now with 5 in the bank, we'll see though, it never seems to work out the way we plan it.

shat, my theory happened again tonight...

I get someone that loses 100K every night...

Last night, Pitkanen. Tonight, Prospal.
Tampa's got 2 games in the next 3 days, one of them being against Pittsburgh, why drop now?

I could move Prospal to Hossa now, but then when I move Jagr to Gaborik, Gaborik will have 3 days before his next game... frick, I guess I'll just hold on to Prospal for 3 days..

Jagr->Gagne today to pick up 3 games and get a healthy financial bounce before I go back to Jagr on 12/1. That's a good investment of trades the way I see it.

I'm not a fan of questions like this but would ya'll go

De Vries --> Desjardins

in hunt for $? Looks like a stupid move on paper but Thrashers are no strangers to getting trashed, and Greg's "-4 for -40 TSNP" yesterday might make the owners look elsewhere. There should be a decent sum to be made on Eric Desjardins as he seems to be healthy and back to his old PT already in his first game back. Hmmm...

I am one of those that hates making "D" trades, Desjardins will gain but not a lot immediately, De Vries might also take some losses. I would likely hold until I could make a bigger upgrade and save the trade.

Jagr's will lose a lot, heavily owned with a 1 in 6 without another bigtime loser that I can see.

Gerber > Hasek since Hasek is probable. I have the Ott goalie combo, but now I'm in a trade conservation mode hopefully.

Atlanta is very inconsistent, and Savard and Ilya could go crazy on any given game. Given that they have a great sched through December, I'd hold, but Forsberg is a god, and his 4 in 6 is quite enticing. I have Foppa on both of my teams; a long-term hold and Savard on one of them, too (Demitra on the other).

ok, now it looks like the changed the first goal in the 2nd pd to Desjardins. So, just 2 goals and an assist for Forsberg. And apparently he's got a groin issue.

Maybe he's been hanging out with the Thrashers goalies too much?

Marian Gaborik is insanely good. You'd think it would take a few games for a player to settle in and get into the rhytm after missing tons of action... But not Gaborik. It's even more impressive considering the lack of premier talent around him.

Haha, I can picture the refs going for the video-check: "Gee, Marc, whose goal is the puck in? I think The Ducks' but better we check it, just to make sure."

Detroit goaltender Manny Legace sprained his knee with 2 minutes left in the first period, kicking out his left leg on a shot along the ice by Samuel Pahlsson as the Ducks' center tried for the far corner of the net. Play continued for another 30 seconds, and Legace stopped point-blank shots from McDonald and Francois Beauchemin while still on his knees in obvious pain before finally getting a whistle.

I was planning an eventual goalie turnover soon anyways. Legace -> LaBarbera, Grahame -> Lunqvuist. Tentative.

According to the AP article I read at NHL.com., Legace sprained a knee; could be the same injury he had before. He's gotta go. Forsberg seems more precautionary, and from the sound of it, he may even play tomorrow (but I kinda doubt it cos a day off tomorrow would give him 3 days to rest. Might have to burn 2 trades as I have both 2x. Ugh.

Still mulling over replacements for both of my goalies in the next few days. Looks like Legace's gotta go ASAP. I think Gerber might fit well in there as a hold until the middle of december. I don't like the matchups against ATL coming up, but the money will be there, and the likely hood of Carolina dropping both is pretty low...

Other slot might go to either Labs or Lunq. Weekes is out for a bit, so Lunq will get the starts, but ill have to wait the 30th to move to him from Grahame. Could only be a 10 day hold as well, as NYR's sched goes blank again soon. In the meantime Grahame'll probably bleed a bit... Labarbera could be a nice pickup, but the lack of starts is concerning. Whats not however is his price. Seems like a of ESDNHLers going real small at G... May follow suit. I'll need to bring back Forsberg and upgrade Baumgartner eventually as well.

Gerber and Lababarbarera may work...

From NY Post, Saturday, November 26th:
Weekes Won't be Out as Long as Feared

Under different circumstances, Tom Renney's proclamation following the Rangers' 6-3 win Thursday in Atlanta that, "We have a No. 1 goaltender," would have been the stuff of back-page news.

Rather, it was simply an acknowledgement that Henrik Lundqvist would be in nets until Kevin Weekes could return from the right ankle injury that knocked him out of that match early in the third period.

Lundqvist, who faced only six shots in his 17:40 of work in relief of Weekes, would go tomorrow night at home against the Caps, then Thursday at home against the Penguins, and then . . .

Well, actually, with the news yesterday that Weekes, injured when the net toppled over onto him after J.P. Vigier crashed the cage, had suffered no more damage than a contusion, it turns out that Lundqvist is the No. 1 goaltender for tonight and perhaps no more than that.

For Weekes, who had started eight of 12 games since his Nov. 3 return from rehabbing the groin injury that sidelined him for eight of the previous nine games, is officially day-to-day. Just as all his weary teammates, he will benefit from the light schedule that the league's heretofore busiest team will face this week.

Martin Rucinsky, one of a handful of players who skated yesterday, may be back for Thursday's game, his recovery from the sprained MCL he sustained in Montreal on Oct. 29 nearly complete. Steve Rucchin, who will miss his second straight tonight with back and groin problems, will benefit. And Jaromir Jagr, who received treatment for the sprained hip that limited his ice time in Thursday's victory, will also be able to take advantage of some R&R.

Jagr, the leader for both the Rocket Richard and Art Ross Trophies (not to mention the Hart), had an interesting game in Atlanta after sustaining the injury during Wednesday's practice in Buffalo. He left the ice during the morning skate and barely participated in the pregame warm-up. He left the bench during the first period to receive treatment from medical trainer Jim Ramsey. He played only six shifts for 5:42 in the first.

In the second, there was a remarkable stretch in which Jagr, because of consecutive power plays, was on the ice for 3:40 in a span of 4:15 beginning at the 6:46 mark. Soon after that, No. 68 took a shift at 2:20 that would have made Alex Kovalev envious. Scoring at 17:58 to break a 3-3 draw, Jagr played five shifts for 7:34 in the second; an average of 1:30 a shift.

After getting six shifts in the third for 4:30, Jagr-averaging 21:19 per, finished the night with 17 shifts and 17:46 of ice, prompting No. 68 to muse, "I would say I didn't play, and we still won."

maybe good long term...we will see...

Being 1 goalie short for 5 days won't make much of a difference as far as your TSNP is concerned. You'll take a hit in RV but that doesn't seem to be your top-priority anyway. I wouldn't worry about having to keep Legace.

I agree about rv not making that much of a difference. In years past to get to that critical 70-75m (to be able to field any team you want)it took a good player to reach it in March. This year most should make it by New Year.
I have had amazing luck with goalies this year, I usually get them with a "gut feeling" and the luck just takes off. 28 wins and 8 shutouts later I feel my luck has run its limit. Now if I could only figure out how to get points from my defence.

My 3 teams where beginning to look very similar. I have decided to throw out my cookie cutter approach and go with 3 different goalies for the Legace cast-off. Vokoun, Hasek, and Garon. Each goalie should get 4 starts in the next 10 days.

I took my lumps earlier when Legace went down and wasn't about to get burned a second time.

Yep Doom it's a long way, and fyi One year I had a 2500pt lead in my division by the midway point and blew it so you can catch me in no time.

SuperFreak I think I will do some of the same mixing on my teams after the next set of trades.

Dienasty thats not a bad idea at all. I haven't had great luck with goalies lately so I will keep my eye on that one.

I'm really sinking in the standings, went from top 300 to 450+....

And price changes are brutal for me in the past week. I still have Prospal. But after the game tonight he's going to Gaborik. I just couldnt trade him to Gaborik until tomorrow, it just wouldnt have made sense.

I decided on Forsberg > Staal today. I'm just not 100% sure that Forsberg is okay right now. I can be aggressive, rather than passive, right now for the first time in a while. Carolina's sked is about as good as you can get this side of obviously Atlanta and still LA.

After a really crappy week I finally have a good night.

348 TSNP and Svatos is still playin...

I'm glad Prospal got a couple points, atleast he wasnt a total loss...

AND WE WON THE GREY CUP!!

Barring an injury, my last move of the week:
this afternoon: Prospal > Gaborik
I'll start the feeding frenzy.

So many moves for me since this week end, had 6 trades....and they are all gone....Am I Tradeholic...no wonder I'm doing so poorly this year. For once I had kept my trades....not any more. I traded according to this weeks schedule.

Lecavalier > Spezza
Prospal > Heatly
Cole > Frolov
Brisebois > Vishnovsky
Legace > Biron (very hard to pick Goalies, i've been looking at goalies all day)
Jagr > Palfy

was looking at Gaborik early sunday morning, but considering he was only playing next wednesday, I did not trade for him. Last time, i picked him on his comeback and he got injured that game !

Oy, this has been an awful week for me. The injuries just killed me, killed me. Legace, Turgeon and now Forsberg for sure. Even he plays Saturday @ Nashville, that translates to a 1 in 7...blah. I am selling Forsberg on at least one team, with my last trade to Spezza, who has a 4 in 7. I am either going to have subsequently move Spezza for the 1 in 6 and lose the FLA game to avoid his losses (I'd expect about $400k drop from wherever he ends up over the next 3 games/4 days based on previous Ottowaian/Spezzian sell-offs this year) or just eat his losses. The losses would be preferable to Forsbergian losses that also accompany a complete lack of points. No good.

On this one team, I had already acquired Gaborik. On my other team, which has but 1 trade (thanks to have Legace, Turgeon and Foppa), I have to [b]decide between moving Forsberg to Spezza or holding Foppa and moving Gagne to Gaborik.

This week this game has just killed me. I was in very good shape trade-wise, too, and the injuries. The great and evil equalizer.

Moved Zetterberg to Iggy today. Sitting on Auld and Graham in the nets with 1 trade left. I think I will wait and watch a little........

With the injury to Foppa (decline in value of Gagne)....

Gagne > Gaborik (11/30)
Alfreddson > Jagr (12/3)

2 days late for money gains on Jagr but I get 2 Alfie games vs. what would be 1 Gagne and 1 Jagr. Had Foppa not gotten hurt I probably would've taken the money.

I will be going:
Heatley to Jagr on the 1rst for the money and points. I would rather have 2 Heatley games and then Jagr but I want the easy money. It is not a smart thing to do as it costs me a game.....

I may change my mind by then

Not worth it, that is a direct loss of games that is not being picked up somewhere else. I'd only consider money trades if you get equal stud games. In this case, you don't, so don't do it.

12/3 is your date.

If you had Gagne AND an Ott player, with a little extra cash in the bank.....

Ott > Gaborik (11/30)
Gagne > Jagr (12/1)

will net the most amount of RV and both be worth 8 player games. Food for thought, I have this combo, but I'm going with more Alfreddson games with the absence of Foppa.

Gagne -> Gaborik 11/30
Heatley -> Jagr 12/3

I'm thinking potential gains north of $200,000 for Gabs tonight... And although i don't like giving up the Gagne game, Philly plays New Jersey who's won 3 in a row allowing 2 or fewer goals in each game. If anyone's going to stiffle a Forsber-less Flyer team, it may be them. Gagne's price has nowhere to go but down, either. Mo money. I'll miss out on two days of Jagr gains, but i want those Heatley games too.

I don't see why you would trade Heatly today, he has 2 games comming before the long break and only one day before there 2 games, I can understand after the B2B....

So far this morning I did Bondra => Gaborik and I'll probably dump Frolov to Jagr tomorrow morning and dump Heatly on Sat for I don't know who... I've just notice that I could go Heatly to Jagr on Sat in the morning but I can't miss on the easy money...

Yeah, I went to Gaborik on one team earlier in the week (from Bertuzzi), but on my other, I have to wait until 12/3 as I had to burn 3 of my trades on injured players leaving me tradeless to make a Gange --> Gabby today (which was in the works until I felt I had to unload Forsberg yesterday). And, tomorrow does not represent an optimal day to acquire Gaborik from Gagne; Jagr from Gagne makes more sense...

Gaborik from Alfie/Heatley on Dec 3rd for my other team.

Thornton>Staal

12/03
Svatos>Jagr

Kiprusoff>???

I'll have approx. 8.1mil left for a goalie, and Calgary doesn't have a good schedule, after Pittsburgh, they have 3 in 13, and 2 of those teams are Phi & Ott.
Who's my best option for the next few weeks? Gerber? Dipietro? Vokoun? Osgood?

Vocoun is the way to go

I already own him and Legace too. I am really not wanting to trade Legace because there aren't too many options.

I have to trade Svatos and Liles tomorrow, I think I might go
Svatos ---> Gionta
Liles ---->Rozsival

But if I do use another trade on Legace, I could go with a cheaper goalie.

Svatos ----> Jagr,Frolov, Gaborik
Liles -----> Zidlicky
Legace ----->Labarbera

Still have to tade Spezza and Heatley later on so I hate to use all my trades.

Walk, I was gonna do that trade until Foppa went out with injury. Maybe Gagne will go nuts again tonight....

But it is still the same number of games either way, with more RV for the sequence of trades TT is doing. Same thing, just different players.

What I mean by different players is different players playing the games.

Whichever combo he does, gives him 6 games, regardless, from the 2 spots. Thru 12/3, which is the relevant sample because both scenarios have the same players by 12/3.

Haven't we gone over this already, at another place. ;)

His:
1 Gagne
2 Jagr
3 Gaborik

Ours:
3 Gaborik
2 Alfie
1 Jagr

Funny, yeah, I see it. Different situation for each individual manager are going to dictate that kinda wash-out for the $ gains move. For me, I was the under the presumption that Gagne would be stifled without Foppa. GONG! [I also did not think Emery would lead to many points, so what do I know?!?]

Then, that kinda move (the Alfie for Gaborik move) is based on how many trades one has. I got killed this week with 3 injuries to one team and 2 to another...now I am gunshy about overly aggressive moves (and had I not taken an early week trade that I thought was total "surplus" -- well, it was before knees and groins went kaput) like bum D-men for Desjardins, I would have been able to move Gagne to Gaborik today and reap some potential nice gains ($100k yesterday has to be like $200k on game day against Columbus).

Sooo, I will personally play it gunshy moving Gagne to Jagr, and then consider moving my Senators to someone else on 12/3 even though, aside from maybe a returning Forsberg, I cannot see anyone I'd move into during the Ottowa 1 in 6 at either center (for Spezza) or Alfie/Heatley (at wing).

Sorry for the stream of consciousness.

I picked up Gionta on one of my teams instead of Gaborik. NJD has the same # of games as MIN in December, and Gionta has been on fire (until tonight, that is). And he's not the injury risk that Gaborik is.

I wasn't going to do the Gaborik move at all because of his injury history, until I saw the 100K increase yesterday... I figured tonight's increase should be huge. So I thought even if he gets injured within the next few games, I'll get a nice RV bonus and he'll probably still put up some nice TSNP before he goes down again. And if I'm lucky, he won't go down and I can ride his great production great schedule for a month. So on my other 2 teams I went Tanguay -> Gaborik today.

Tomorrow, Gagne -> Jagr x3
