Subject: Week12 trades??

  Posted by: TT - [31938290] Thu, Dec 29, 2005, 01:36

So many trades (8) not many players needing to be traded. Hmmmmm maybe I can trade Gerber for Miller or Lehtonen (I don't have any cash in the bank to upgrade, can only downgrade).

I'd wait a few games from Lehtonen before you trade into him.. sounds like he's really having problems with that groin..

12/31
Marleau>Datsyuk
Emery>Auld

01/01
Nagy>Sullivan

Foster -> Redden. I'm tempted to pass, but looking ahead to OTT's next 4 opponents, i see a great opportunity to take advantage of my extra banked RV and make a real push up higher in the standings...

Auld bought some extra time on my squad and im hoping he can string together some wins on Vancouver's upcoming roadtrip. Modano's placeholding for Spezza, and i wish i had another "W" slot of Jagr later in the week, but as my team is structured right now i should be able to take my hands off the wheel for the next little while...

'course having said that, you know some kind of calamity is sure to ensue.

Ira - what makes you think he's having more problems with his groin????

He just hasn't played yet because Garnett posted b2b shutouts and has the Thrashers at 6-0-3 in their last 9. No reason to make a change just yet.

From ajc:
Thrashers coach Bob Hartley said he would decide Thursday who will start on Friday at Buffalo, but Kari Lehtonen has been ready since Monday and will likely get his first chance since groin problems derailed him on opening night.

Asked whether Lehtonen would start next, Hartley said, "Kari, because of Garney's play, benefited from a couple of good days [of practice], so tomorrow we'll sit down with Kari and if everything's in place, we're going to make the right decision tomorrow."

I've gotta believe Lehtonen will get the bulk of the playing time from here on out now. Shields or Dunham or Berkhoel or even Hurme will be called up to be the backup and Garnett will get to play every day in Chicago.

Lehtonen has the flue, besides why get a goalie of all positions that hasn't played forever. That just sounds like a desparate move to me.

No, Jere Lehtinen of Dallas had the flu
not Kari Lehtonen, rookie goalie extrordinaire.

And for the record he played in 4 games last year and won them all, his 5th career game was the first game of this season where he shutout Florida in the first period and then left with the groin injury and hasn't played since. I'm surprised he's not doing a minor league rehab.

I dont see how its a desparate move look at kipper, turco etc last few games, id rather have someone benched for those tspn and for 2.70 mill a quarter of most goalies prices its worth a risk plus a goalie postion is not like a skater after injury, auld on the other hand is a pile, thats a desparate move, well not really you know what you get, nothing.

no argument about Auld, but there are some goalies out there who are doing well where you don't have to gamble on a guy who hasn't played.

That's right Slats, I don't know what I'm talking about. (rolls eyes)

anywho.

From an article i came across.....
Atlanta Thrashers rookie goalie Kari Lehtonen, who has been plagued by groin problems, is expected to return either on Monday against Montreal or on Wednesday against Philadelphia. Lehtonen was hurt in the season opener. Thrashers coach Bob Hartley is not impressed that Lehtonen was named to Finland's Olympic team. "We're going to pick up whatever is left of him when it is over," Hartley said. "I just hope the Finnish team will supply the elastic bands (used to treat groin injuries) when he comes back."

wow lots of venom here.

Might move Staal after tonight. Had hoped Spezza would be back by now but that doesn't look like that's the case so maybe Savard or Jokinen instead. If not tommorrow, then in 3 days.

Turco better get his act together, so far using cash for 2 7 mil goalies hasn't worked too well.

What a bundle of joy Slats brings us this holiday season.

After not paying much attention to the pool since the holidays began, I finally made a few trades:

Thornton > Modano
Grahame > Garon

Tanguay > Morrow on one team (had to dump some RV to afford Garon)

Will probably go
Tanguay > Sullivan/Kariya on my other 2 teams 1/1

Back from vacation! I can honestly say it helps tradewise but doesn't do much for anything else.

Made a couple of moves.
Thornton > Modano
Marleau > Crosby

Iggy > Sullivan after tonights game.

7 trades remaining - which i like.

With my roster value under 70 mill it would not be beneficial for me to move out of Auld. I prefer to keep the $ on the forwards.

I think we may have actually found someone younger than Ira!!!

anyways...Lehtonen update:

The day Thrashers fans — not to mention goalie Kari Lehtonen himself — have been waiting for since opening night is at hand.

At Buffalo Friday night, the highly regarded rookie will start for the second time this season after taking more than two and a half months to recover from groin problems.

Starting on Sunday, the Thrashers face five games in seven days — three on the road. Hartley said for now Lehtonen will not play in back-to-back games, of which the Thrashers have two.

With three games in four days this weekend, Hartley has not informed his goalies as to who will play Sunday's game in Washington and Monday's home game with Ottawa. That decision is in part because the coach is uncertain as to how long Lehtonen might stay healthy.

Is this a joke Slats05????

How can you knock Ira so much when you propose THAT trade. Jeez, Atlanta has a 6 in 9 starting today, what are you thinking? You lose a game.

You must be joking dude. Ira sure ain't the best TSN player, but at least he tries and doesn't post trades that lose games from players with similar ability.

Iggy > Sullivan and leaves 3.8 mill in the bank and 7 trades.

and now I start to think about what if's.....

I could upgrade Demitra to Forsberg and lock in Foppa until the olympic break.
Or
Upgrade my low end d man to zidlicky.
Or
Upgrade Auld.

With my $ situation I can only do 1 of the above moves and it will leave me pretty thin in the cash left column.

If I go Demitra > Foppa I'll do it today or tomorrow because I like Forsbergs opponents (clb/bos/nyr/was/nj/chi) compared to Demitra's (dal/dal/pho/san/ana/bos) however Philly's next 7 games are all on the road.
Or
Upgrading Michalek > Zidlicky will give me a pretty solid team (except for the wild ride auld) and will have to be done today.
Or
I'm thinking of holding Auld for this week and then moving into Gerber.

These are all 1 trade moves. Anything else would involve or 2 more trades.

You are looking too short term imo. Detroit doesn't even have a good schedule to warrant loading up on Detroit players. If you already had them and debating whether to sell them or hold them, then that's a different story.

I really want Vokoun. But the only viable way to get him is to sell Foppa. And I see no good options. If only Spezza is healthy.

I think it's okay to start looking shorter term if you have a ton of trades. I'm starting to look more short term now, but then again, I have 7 trades with 0 problems on my team....so it just depends on the situation.

C. SuperFreak, I'd do the one that involves selling Demitra because his price is going to be a bloodbath because of his ownership + tons of C options that are good buys right now. That trade at least makes sense in terms of getting the most RV out of it.

It was a quick glance and I might have to investigate the options a little further.

On a side note I'm putting Nash on my radar.

I might be tempted to go Alfie --> Gagne today and Gaborik --> Ovechkin tomorrow but then I'll miss today's coin on Ovechkin... I'll hold off on the Gagne decision until tomorrow. Gagne was locked in before most of the managers got wind of his illness so his rv isn't going to take a big hit.

However if he's out for the next game, and you have a trade surplus, it might be worth picking up a Sullivan or a Kovalchuk or just holding.

It's a 3 game gamble for 2 trades.

I don't have enough to swing Gagne -> Kovalchuk, already have Sullivan and the other two interesting 3 game options in Kariya and Hossa haven't exactly been tearing it up lately.

I'm tempted to go to Ovechkin for 2 and see how Gagne is on Thursday.

Not sure maybe net 150K or something for the next 2 days vs holding Jokinen. I was gonna do the trade, anyway, 2 days from now letting Spezza get a game under his belt. I just decided to take a risk. When I have a lot of trades, I tend to take a lot of risks of buying into players early. It's something I've done a lot in the past that has worked. Just trying to make as much RV as fast as I can still.

I don't know, it all depends on each situation for me. Jokinen, I'm selling early, wheras, Hossa and Savard, I may wait longer until 1/8 instead of 1/5 to get Philly players. It just all depends on what I'm feeling at the time.

Wait, is that really the rule for goalie wins? If a goalie starts a game, his team scores in the opening minute, he subsequently gets injured and comes out, and the game ends 1-0, then the goalie who played all of 1 of 60 minutes would stand to get the "W"...? Can't be, right?

Must be an official scorer's discretion, but I really dunno.

71, From what I remember from my scorekeeping days I believe that is correct. Whoever was in net for the GWG gets the win. I remember Patrick Roy being pretty pissed off about a game where he got pulled down 1, his team scored two quick goals and they put Roy back in... and he found out after he wasn't getting the W.

Interesting rule that probably works out most of the time except for unusual circumstances like I hypothesized in post #71...I lose out though today, even though Lehtonen had 33 minutes compared to 27 for Garnett.

Rough goings from last nights action. Got steamrolled by Kovalchuk, Niittymaki and McCabe owners. Alex Auld and the Vancouver Canucks disgust me.

Now what to do.....

I have McCabe and he has a 4 in 14, should I trade him for Lidstrom or Mathieu for their 7 games in the mean time.... I know it not the best thing to do playing with the D-man but McCabe could see a significant lost in money today....

On the flip side I have only one trade left and Hasek his on there, here is was I got from Ottawa Sun this morning :

Already without captain Daniel Alfredsson, the Senators lost goalie Dominik Hasek in warmup with a sore back. He wasn't able to make his scheduled start.

"I just felt something in my lower back in the warmup," said Hasek, who added he hopes to play tomorrow against Washington.

"I wouldn't have been able to help the team because I wasn't really able to move around much. I felt bad because Alfredsson was already out of the lineup."

Should I use my last trade to get rid of Hasek and if so for who???

The only option I could see is Osgood or Legace from Detroit, or Vokoun but I dislike Nas opponent and Nas hasn't been playing verry well lately??

Hasek is old, but he says he should be able to play the next game. The trade does not seem to be critical NOW, unless there's an obvious alternative NOW. By the way, I have Hasek 2x, too. So, I am inclined to hold (and I have more trades than you do). I'd like to get more news though...!
