Funny yesterday I had the worst tsnp output all season, -9, yet it was after yesterdays performance that I took 1st place for the first time in my division. Funny how that works heh?
Well me and the other guy had about the same # of guys going, so it's not as if I got lucky by not having players playing when they probably would have had negatives. I had my share of negatives yesterday, but I had just enough positives to keep me from losing as much tsnp as the then 1st place guy.

Meh. At least almost everyone picked the same group of players that all went cold at the same time. It's difficult these days to differentiate without taking some pretty sizeable risks.

Well I don't feel so bad after all. I actually gained in the WWR with the above results. The Senator cold spell has really changed the game. People are holding and waiting for them to wake up IMHO.
I am certainly sacrificing $$$ to get what I believe are points. Going to miss the Staal increase tonight. It is only a metter of time until I miss a boat....

Staal seems like a pretty likely source of points to me.
Went Marleau > Staal , although I hate to drop Marleau just when he seems to be getting back on track.
In Basic I went Kipper > Miller. Hope I manage to get 2 extra games with that trade.
Bracing myself for a big price drop for Spezza tonight, and everyone else tomorrow... hoping and praying for a big night from those guys tonight.

I got a question for you smallwhirled, I hope you will see it. Why do you and J play on the same account? I understand it's cheaper to buy teams in bundles, I also understand it's more fun to have different teams on the same account so you can easily compare them. But you gotta believe you and J will be up in the standings for prizes. So doesn't it suck that you guys only get 1 world wide rank prize? Imagine if you were ever 1, and J 2. Or vice versa. That would suck you only get the 1st place prize, when in fact 2 different teams took 1st and 2nd place. It's funny you guys do this, having 2 (or more) people on the same account when I'm sure there are people who have multiple accounts just so they can win world wide prizes more than once.

Remember sports fans: Also, please note that no trades will be given out during the Olympic Break. So you will not get any trades on Wednesday, February 15th or Wednesday, February 22nd.
So really, we have 2 game days to worry about before the next trade refresh. Feb 12, today, and Feb 28th.
However, what if I was the only person to sell a player on Wednesday and buy another? Would it be a wild price swing?

J, I watched the Canada-Russia women's game during your post...Saw it go from 1-0 to 6-0 in the time it took for a normal human to take a dump. Canadians were twice as fast as the Russians on the ice (as opposed to the toilet). No match. It seems with the women, it's the US and Canada and everyone else is miles behind (for now).

So if (or should I say when) both of you win a world wide prize, do you split the top prize 50/50? Or is it proportional to what you would have won? ie. The one with the higher world wide rank gets a bigger share of the cut. Or is it just a 'winner take all' type of thing?

SW lives in a state where he's ineligible for prizes. I don't! Whatever prizes I qualify for, I subtract from what he wins and send him a check when its over.
For example, in baseball this year:
We won $1500 (he finished 3rd overall, we won all 5 divisions)
I finished in the top 50 and won 4 of the divisions, so I subtracted the money for what I would've earned on my own, something like $300, and sent him a check for $1200.
Much better than nothing!!!! And SW knows he'll kick my ass every time :)

I always forfeit whatever he wins, that is the premise. I always get the rest. We've been buddies for a long time, it's not as bad as it sounds, plus it's cheaper to buy the teams. I always only want 1 team, and I know I'll kick his ass everytime....;). So it's not really a big deal. We do this stuff when we play other fantasy leagues or stuff like that, he just keeps a tab for me, it's like he is the bartender.

Yesterday I went
Jagr > Zetterberg (thanks Dienasty) Alfie > Gaborik
I figured Alfie would be the biggest price loser of the big forward line so I thought it wouldn't hurt to jump on Gaborik for a couple of games. But I definitely want in for the Sens' next 3 games, PIT, WAS, then TOR (we all know how they love to turn it up for the Leafs - remember that their last Leafs matchup was the game that busted them out of their last little mini-slump).
So I still have most of the big OTT guys, and will be getting Alfie back on the 29th.
I'll be very surprised if the OTT guys don't come back from the Olympic break playing at their usual high level.
Anyone else still holding a lot of OTT players?

I'm trying to figure out which direction to take with my goalies. Hasek's got to go and Thomas looks like he going to be splitting time with Raycroft, so im going to move him too. Broduer is coming in for one of them, but the other choice is more difficult.
I've identified Lehtonen, Auld, Aebischer and Gerber as potentials. But beyond that, i can't figure out which one of them is the best choice.

Anyone thinking of dropping Brodeur with his week sched comming up, 1 in 5 and 3 in 9... I was looking at Abeisher, Budaj start last game and the lost to Dallas, so David should get the next couples of start....
Or should I use this trade some where else used more wisely...
My best night of the year last night so I'd like to keep it up..

I'm keeping Brodeur. The best you can get is a 3 in 5 or a 5 in 9. And no one's schedule is good enough to warrant 2 trades for 2 games. Of the teams that do have a 3 in 5 or 5 in 9, its amazing how many of those games are road games!
Brody stays for me.

I will be keeping Brodeur on the one team that holds him. While he doesn't have a lot of games over the next couple of weeks, they are against NYI, WASH, PIT, NYI and PIT.

Gagne with 2a tonight. Forsberg 1g2a.
Will Staals production suffer with the loss of Cole to the team? Probably not but with Forsberg looking good, Spezza shining and Thornton being Thornton there's no room on my team for him anymore. Staal goes after the Philly game for Spezza. It'll give me: Spezza, Forsberg, Thornton
With Toronto's slump I'm moving McCabe.

I think Redden's got to go. Great sched or not he's just not putting up numbers atm. 2pts in his last 9 games, and they both came in the same game.
Lidstrom on the other hand has 11pts over the same stretch. A move to Nik might be worth it, despite giving up a game or two over the long haul...

I have Lidstrom, McCabe and Redden. What other defensemen are preferable here? Zubov? Chara? It seems like these three are the elite, but Redden and McCabe have slowed. Still, I am quite reluctant to sell any of them.

I have Redden, McCabe, and Zubov on 2 teams, and Meszaros instead of McCabe on my budget team.
I'd like to get Lidstrom but the timing doesn't seem right with any of those guys. I'll sleep on it I guess. (Meanwhile, McCabe and Redden will go -3 and Lidstrom will get a hattie)

Well, thanks to being sick i slept through the freeze. Seems like a lot of managers were feeling the Redden -> Lidstrom move. I'm hoping Wade goes ape these next few games...

So far i have missed the last two shutouts for Huet after moving him on thursday because of the abeischer trade. Emery rewarded me the first night with his bombing.
I am now in the position with 13+ trades on my teams and don't know what to do. Been a hard year for me for some reason, I was hoping to crack the top 20 after being in the top 100 two years in a row. Dissappointing!

I moved Staal to Jokinnen & Gerber to Luongo. Car has 4 games compared to Fla's 6 games. So it's a no-brainer. +4 in games.
A little differentation.
You know I wouldn't mind if I dropped or gained positions but I'm freakin' stuck in the same +30 -30 ranking area every damn day.
If I gained 100 positions or drop 100 positions then I could at least get some feedback on what's going right or wrong, but just staying in the same position just sucks. SUCKS to a point that the interest in the game is quickly waning.
and judging by the drop off in posts here it appears that others might be losing interest as well.

Well, at least Legace will have a quiet night. Osgood is in goal. Of course Lidstrom has just made my Lid-Visnovsky move from a couple days back look bad. Them's the breaks I guess.

Interest has definitely wained from my perspective....it's all a factor of RV being no factor. If it was a struggle to get 3 stud Dmen, or if it was a struggle to get that one last W upgrade then the game would be much more exciting in terms of differentiation.
Player prices need to be raised, price movers need to be dampened. The same thing happened in baseball last year, and my interest wained there as well. A couple of years ago, I remember how hard it was to get a full team of studs in March....

For my team, I had planned on holding Broduer until now all along. But, I didn't expect him to SUCK this bad. Kind of a shame just how horrible he has been the past week or so. From there I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that goalie slot.
Spezza > Forsberg last week worked real well. :(

Player prices do need to be raised next season. I can't recall a time in any SW/TSN based game where ive achieved my RV goal so early, that being to put myself in a position to no longer have to worry if i can afford to buy any player, at any time.
Higher IPO's would solve a lot of it. Players like Demitra, Jagr, Palffy, Heatley, Datsyuk and Zetterberg (among others) came in just way too low.

It also hasn't helped that due to injuries you can have cheap starting goalies like Emery, Huet and Auld.

smallwhirled,
it's definetly tough to get ahead when everyone has their ideal lineup and has 5-15 mil in the bank only 2/3 of the way through the season..

Went Staal > Jokinen yesterday.
I swear, every time I pick up Jokinen, no matter how hot he his or who his opponents, he goes cold.
That happens to me all the time with Nagy too. I know they're good players.
I just jinx them or something.
But yeah, I'm with those who have really lost a lot of interest the last few weeks, and the lack of RV as a factor is definitely a huge part of it.
I think the underpriced goalies were the biggest killers of the game this year.

You gotta be kidding me. UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE Luongo gets the night off!!!! which should indicate that he's gonna play against Washington.
On another note with Calgary's offense it's possible that Vokoun could make it 3 straight.
I have 3 teams and i'm going to make some moves and get away from them all having alfie, heatley, ovechkin, jagr. 1 team stays the same 2nd team Ovechkin > Cheechoo 3rd team Alfie > Kovalchuk
