Subject: Week ? 21 ? trades

  Posted by: caribou - [551572811] Mon, Mar 20, 2006, 08:40

What week are we in...?

Anyways, I was wondering what everybody are doing with Ottawa players, since they are playing 1 game in the next 4 days against Pittsburg. I currently have Alfy and Spezza on my team. Should we keep or sell OTT players ?

Longer OTT sched....3 games in 8 days ?

I only have Alfredsson on my team and I'm planning to drop him today but I can't figure out for who at the moment...

Kovalev (Montreal have a nice sched comming)

Kotalik, Afinogenov and Vanek (Buffalo sched is just too good to pass but I already have Briere)

Selanne (Anaheim are fighting for a spot in the playoff and Scott Neidermayer paid off last night)

Tkachuk (It's Stl but the sched is quite nice...)

Hossa and Kovalchuk (Atlanta is only short term, 4 days off starting Sunday)

Who cares about the cash at this stage of the game, since the Olympic break, I've only be playing sched and no money and I haven't gain or lose much but there is just too much money in the bank at the moment...

I'm going short term with Kovalchuk....

Some of us might go for the top FV prize, I think that's what Doom was referring to as he is in 4th.

I haven't tried to make RV at all in a long time and I'm in 3rd, as making the right point trades also translates into money.

Sold Vokoun today as he isn't starting for Huet. May backfire is Aebischer gets starts, but if Huet gets hot right now it might work out....so I'm risking it.

Redden > Souray because I'm freaking sick and tired of Redden, no other reason.

I don't care about cash at this point either, but I do care about how many points Spezza and Heatley are going to get against PIT. Its strange that any smart mgrs would give them up before this game.

I did dump Redden finally today though. I can't believe how many points I have lost in the last month with that slug.

Hopefully Neidermeyer can keep up a hot hand now.

Today I did

Alfie -> Kovalev
Spezza -> Briere

Sitting on Heatley for tomorrow's game against PIT

Alfie for Kovalev today seemed obvious to me, since MON plays 2 games in the next 2 days to OTT's one, and because MON has 9 games in a row against weak teams coming up.

Spezza -> Briere today was not nearly as obvious, I could definitely have waited until Wednesday. But Buffalo is playing a weak defensive team too, and Briere is hot. With prospects for points being more or less the same with Spezza/Briere I decided to go for the RV and make the trade today. Hope this one doesn't bite me in the ass.

It occurred to me afterwards that a better plan may have been to go Spezza -> Nylander (from the 22nd to the 29th) -> Spezza. Oh well.

My plan tentative plan for Heatley at the moment is to go
Heatley -> Ovechkin on Wednesday
Ovechkin -> Heatley on Friday

All this trade action happening after 2 weeks of going with only a couple of trades, crazy!

I moved Alfie to Kovalchuk and Vokoun to Huet. Gives me 8 trades remaining. At this point I feel that getting teams for b2b games are a must.
I will also attempt to move the players with 2 day breaks to gain ground.

Currently I sit 2nd in a division. 180pts behind the leader with an 8-0 trade advantage and a + 10 mill in RV.

Normally with this kind of advantage my team should be able to cruise by him, but not this year, this is a dogfight.
Here's the ridiculous part:
I have 14 million banked and he has 6 million.

Jokinen finally lights it up after I dumped him.

Yeah, but instead they lose a big one to rival Philly. Dang! Philly scored mucho on the PP and used big bodies in front of Lundqvist to obstruct and score. Excellent strategy.

I am so far glad I traded Spezza for Nylander today, as he had a decent 70 point-ish game, but I was gonna go crazy and get Rucinsky too for Alfredsson, but wimped out on that. Rucinsky probably had about 100 pts with his 3 assists. However, Lundqvist had -15.

I think I'll trade Luongo now..

Question is:

Do I go to Huet, Tellqvist, Brodeur, Roloson, or Auld...

I'm not confident Tellqvist and Huet will start all these games coming up.. Roloson and Auld are wildcards.. Jersey has some tough offense comin up in Atlanta twice and Ottawa..

Ovechkin's 3 day break is upon us and he gives us a nice going away present.

I would also like to thank washington for keeping Staal in check making my Sakic and Datsyuk picks look respectable.

Okay I guess for those that don't have Cheechoo this would be the no brainer trade of the week.
Ovechkin > Cheechoo (last night-2g, 1a, +2, 6shots, 2Pim's)

For those who already do have him any thoughts on going with a Ovechkin > Elias > Ovechkin?

NYR sched is not that good for the next week, only 2 games B2B againts Islanders and Ottawa on the raod... With ANA fighting for a playoff spot, and Selanne on a hot roll, would justify this with 2 games more...

I'm going to make sure I get every single Jagr game, that's a priority for me.

Really not sure how I'm going to use my trades down the stretch here. Pretty much my entire team has good skeds that stretch for a while still and I'm at 7 --> 12 trades right now. Hopefully I can put them to good use and maybe get into the top 10. Jeez there is seriously no movement in the top 20. The only team that has really come from pretty far back in the last couple of months has been Joelis, at least that I can recognize.

Plus my goalies have stunk the past two weeks.

I'm staying with Kipper and Turco now until the last week.

I'm begging for a goalie win here... Vokoun's GAA has exploded the past few games after b2b shutouts. I'm feeling a Vokoun -> Luongo move since Florida's in a position where they can't make any mistakes, while Nashville may finally really be slumping for the first time this season, while also dumming it down a bit to save for the big show.

Well, I dunno if now's the time to move Vokoun. After one more tough game against Detroit, Nashville has like St.L, CBJ and Chicago ONLY over a 6-game period (3 home/3 away), and then finish with 3 at home against Minn, Pho, and finally Detroit. Nashville is 27-6-1 at home this year (.500 on the road).

I have a lot of ground to make up and I need to differentiate.

Well, a bit of poor trade management on my part... And some bad luck with injuries/DNPs (Redden, Schneider, Vokoun) have somehow left me without any trades to get Jagr for tonights game.

In the grand scheme of things, 57 TSNP lost probably won't mean much, but it sure would have been better than nothing. :(

There goes my shot at top 20. My plan was to hold Shanahan through to the Columbus B2B, and use my last two trades on Datsyuk and Zetterberg. What ended up happening:

Vokoun got hurt, so I moved him to Lundqvist. I moved Zetterberg for Jagr. Now, Datsyuk is hurt too. So I have 0 trades and two injured players instead of a full lineup of solid scheduling. Just super. :(
