more on Brand, per rotoworld:

Elton Brand is scheduled to have surgery on his ruptured Achilles' tendon on Tuesday.

Dr. Craig Morgan will perform the procedure at Wilmington Hospital in Delaware. Brand is expected to make a full recovery, but the Clippers will make an announcement later on Tuesday as to how the surgery went and what the timetable is for his return. We're guessing he'll be sidelined until February or March, if not shut down for the entire season.

Spurs center Francisco Elson left Holland's national team Wednesday after he was diagnosed with a fractured eye socket that will sideline him for about six weeks.

Elson sustained the injury from an elbow to the face during the Netherlands' 77-72 European Championship victory over Belarus last week. He played again on Saturday in a loss to Slovakia, but was shut down when concerns arose after he complained of double vision. "Six weeks is average for an injury like this," said Dutch national team doctor Erik Jager. "The scan showed he has a little fracture at the bottom of his eye socket." He should be fine by the start of the season, if he doesn't require surgery on his orbital.(rotoworld)

Denver Nuggets forward Nene injured his right calf in the first quarter of Saturday's FIBA Americas Championship Semifinal game against Argentina and was wheeled off the floor.

A representative for Team Brazil told Basketball News that the Brazilian Team doctor examined Nene after the game. He said the doctor estimated Nene could be out up to six weeks, but that further tests will be done to determine the exact extent of the damage.

After the game Nene was taken to the team bus in a wheel chair and was seen clutching his right leg. When asked how he felt, Nene replied: "Not very good."

Nene is expected to fly back to Denver as soon as tonight for further evaluation.

Nene tore his right anterior cruciate ligament during the first game of the 2005-06 season against the San Antonio Spurs.

More on this story as it develops...

per rotoworld:

Blazers' rookie center Greg Oden will undergo arthroscopic right knee surgery this week, while no timetable has been set for his return.

To say Oden is becoming a major injury concern is an understatement. He had a serious wrist injury last year at Ohio St. and has now missed time due to getting his tonsils out and the knee problem that could cause him to miss training camp, if not more time. There are also rumors of a back problem and at this point, Kevin Durant looks like he should be taken a couple rounds earlier than Oden this fall. Oden's right knee is in pain and he has cartilidge problems, so monitor him closely before drafting him for your fantasy team this year.

RealGM Staff Report -
The Phoenix Suns today announced that center Amaré Stoudemire will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2.

Team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Carter will perform the surgery to remove a loose body. Carter performed microfracture surgery on Stoudemire’s left knee in October 2005. The 24-year-old Stoudemire will miss 2-3 weeks and is expected to have a full recovery.

The two-time All-Star and 2007 All-NBA First Team selection averaged 20.4 points and a career-high 9.6 rebounds last season, playing a full 82-game season after missing all but three games of the 2005-06 campaign due to injury

It sounds like there's little chance he'll play this week and a worst-case scenario could put him out until December. Get him on your bench until further notice and consider using Antoine Wright and Boki Nachbar in his absence.

Stephon Marbury told the New York Post that he is flying to Los Angeles to join the Knicks for Wednesday's game against the Clippers.

We're guessing the thought of losing another $180,000 was the motivating factor here. The Knicks simply want this mess to go away so maybe Marbury is ready to come off the bench going forward. And if Marbury really has dirt on Isiah, maybe the two can work things out, although that doesn't seem likely. Stay tuned as the soap opera continues. The Knicks have not confirmed that Marbury will join the team tonight and it's anyone's guess as to whether or not he will play.

From Rotoworld:

Andrei Kirilenko left Saturday's game with an apparent leg injury. He left in the third quarter after being kneed in the left thigh by Mike Dunleavy and didn't return (according to NBA TV), but did manage to walk off the floor under his own power. He had 12 points, three boards, four assists and five blocks, and owners just have to hope that he's healthy enough to play in Monday's home game against New Jersey. The good news is that the Jazz don't play again (after Monday) until Thursday of next week, so hopefully he won't miss much, if any, time with the injury. If an update on his status is available before your league's deadline, we'll have it.

Not sure if this belongs here since it's not really an injury, but from rotoworld:

"Matt Barnes is expected to miss the Warriors five-game road trip to stay home and be with is ailing mother.

Barnes has missed some practice time because of the situation, but maintains it has had no bearing on his play. Stephen Jackson will return to Golden State's lineup after serving his seven-game suspension on Sunday. Make sure you reserve Barnes for Week 4."

On Kirilenko:

Andrei Kirilenko's thigh injury is not a myth, as I saw it happen. That said, there is no information about his status on the internet, outside of what you get at Rotoworld.com. I'm guessing that no news is good news and that he didn't return to Saturday's game because the Pacers were coasting. The Jazz play tonight and I'm assuming that AK-47 will be in uniform. But I won't be shocked if he's not.(per rotoworld-injury report)

Update from Rotoworld:
Andrei Kirilenko's thigh injury remains a mystery, but Tim Buckley of the Deseret Morning News has him as a projected starter for tonight's games.
We have not spoken to Buckley directly, but we're assuming no news is good news on AK-47. The Jazz were off on Sunday so it will depend on how he feels in pregame as to whether or not he plays. We're guessing you don't have a better option than AK on your bench, so you can go ahead and roll the dice on him tonight. We're guessing he plays, but would not be surprised if he sits this one out.

From Rotoworld Nov 20th:

"Lakers center Kwame Brown will be sidelined indefinitely with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Lakers spokesman John Black said an MRI on Monday revealed the extent of the injury. He will not make the team's upcoming three-game road trip, and is scheduled to be reevaluated in about a week. This should mean good things for Andrew Bynum, while Ronny Turiaf, Brian Cook and Chris Mihm should also see some extra minutes as well."

no injury but a trade:

The Magic traded swingman Trevor Ariza to the Lakers for PF Brian Cook and G/F Maurice Evans on Friday.

The Magic got a much needed big man in Cook, and Evans has proven to be an excellent scorer when Kobe Bryant has been out of the lineup. Ariza is a talented youngster who has never gotten a true chance at a starting role, but it's unlikely it will happen with the Lakers, at least for now. However, Evans could end up playing some major minutes for the Magic at shooting guard, possibly even starting at some point.

Chris Paul is expected to start Wednesday after missing a couple games with a sprained ankle, while Tyson Chandler's hyperextended knee will keep him out against the Pacers.

If you rolled the dice on Paul this week, it looks like a good call. And if you have Chandler in your lineup, it could be a long week.

Update on Udrih per NBA.com

Update: After leaving Tuesday's game with a right quadriceps contusion, Udrih is listed as the starting point guard Wednesday at Phoenix, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Analysis: He left midway through the fourth quarter and did not return. It didn't appear that the injury was too serious as Udrih sat on the bench icing his leg after he was replaced. Swingman Francisco Garcia filled his role on the floor for the remainder of the game.

Per Rotoworld -- Brendan Haywood made it through shootaround without any problems on Friday and is expected to play despite his sprained ankle tonight.

While this is bad news for Andray Blatche owners, there are plenty of happy Haywood owners out there. The two should be in a classic timeshare from here on out as long as they're healthy, while Blatche will also see time at power forward.

Rudy Gay suffered an injury to his left ring finger near the end of Friday's loss to the Spurs.

X-rays were negative, but he could be limited for the next few games. Hopefully he doesn't miss any time, but he did not return to the blowout after suffering the injury. If he's out, Stromile Swift will likely move back into the starting five, unless Darko Milicic returns from his thumb injury.

Jorge Garbajosa plans to have more surgery on his left leg and ankle and will be out indefinitely.

The decision was made after Garbajosa met with a specialist in Baltimore on Monday. In seven games this season, Garbajosa averaged just 3.1 PPG and 2.1 RPG in just 10.5 minutes per game. His absence has definitely boosted the value of Jamario Moon.

Todays update:

LeBron James had an MRI on Thursday which revealed nothing worse than a sprained left index finger. He is listed as day-to-day and will be a game-time decision for Friday's matchup against the Raptors in Toronto.

The sprained finger was already the initial diagnosis, but it's a relief to have it confirmed via MRI. James is as tough as they come, but the Cavs are obviously going to be cautious with their franchise player, so check back tomorrow to determine whether he'll be playing against the Raptors or not.

LeBron update, from Ohio.com (Akron Beacon Journal):
The team is listing him as ''day to day'' and calling him a game-time decision for tonight's road game against the Toronto Raptors. The Cavs are expected to show extreme caution with their superstar.

This is an injury that could linger with James for the next couple of months.

LeBron James did not participate in the Cavaliers morning shootaround in preparation for tonight's game against the Toronto Raptors.

James, who suffered a sprain of his left index finger on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons, watched practice in sweats, iced his finger and wore a sleeve on his finger.

Coach Mike Brown said James remains a game-time decision. That means James, if cleared by doctors, will have the final decision on if he will or will not take the court tonight.

Drew Gooden said the Cavs practiced just in case James does not play. That was the difference in the second half against the Pistons when the Cavs came out in the third quarter without James.

"We know what we're in for now," Gooden said. "A lot of the plays we ran in the second half [against the Pistons] were his plays. Today we worked on offensive plays for other guys and we'll have a better feel. Defensively, everything will stay the same, so there's no excuses."

The Cavs are 9-3 all-time when James does not play but that's not a position Brown wants to be in very often, especially now. James is averaging 30.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 8.1 assists.

"Triple no, we don't want to play without him often," Brown said. "But we feel like we're a capable team and we have guys who can step up at times when he can't go."

Well, the Kirilenko owners may have gotten good news today. If Boozer and Okur both miss Kiri will have to deliver inside and play a lot of minutes I would think.

Rotoworld
Neither starting power forward Carlos Boozer nor starting center Mehmet Okur took part in the Jazz's morning shootaround Friday, leaving uncertain the status of both players for Friday's game against the Lakers.

Boozer sprained his right ankle late in the first half of Utah's win Wednesday night at Philadelphia, while Okur went down in the third quarter of the same game. Boozer said that he would have to see how much pain there was during pre-game warm-ups. "I'm going to see how I feel tonight," Boozer said

From Rotoworld:
LeBron James says he will not play on Friday in Toronto due to his sprained finger.

This leaves his status for Sunday against Boston in doubt as well. We're not even sure who will start in his place, but we're guessing it will be Ira Newble or Dwayne Jones. Yikes. LeBron's owners just have to hope for the best on Sunday.

Al Jefferson said after Saturday's loss in Memphis that he is playing with a bruised left knee that is hurting his play.

Jefferson played a season-low 28 minutes, 44 seconds Saturday. He failed to score in double digits for the first time this season, scoring nine points. "I came down on it wrong against New Orleans [Monday], and I rehurt it [Friday] night," he said. "It's [very] sore." He'll get some treatment this weekend and isn't expected to miss any game action.

Coach Randy Wittman wasn't sure whether Marko Jaric, who suffered a sprained right foot and ankle in the first half of Friday's game, would be available to play Tuesday at home against the Lakers.

Jaric left the Target Center on crutches Friday because the medical staff, as a precautionary measure, didn't want him to put weight on his foot. Sebastian Telfair and Corey Brewer could be in store for another start with Rashad McCants also hobbled with knee soreness.

Devin Harris said it's too early to tell whether he will play Wednesday in San Antonio

Harris got caught in the paint with nothing but big bruisers around him. Joakim Noah was one of several players that crashed down on Harris in the third quarter and he spent the rest of the evening in the locker room with a neck strain. X-rays were negative and Harris said it's too early to tell whether he will play Wednesday in San Antonio, although coach Avery Johnson sounded optimistic.

Ford looks good to go again..

The Raptors will get T.J. Ford back Wednesday night from his "stinger-related" injuries, but Sam Mitchell said this morning that Chris Bosh (groin) and Andrea Bargnani (knee) won't play.

Ford says he's feeling much better and is hopefully ready to put his injury behind him. The Ford news is not all that great for Jose Calderon owners, but he'll still likely start and get plenty of minutes. Joey Graham will also start for the Raptors.

Jason Kidd is suffering from a migraine and is not likely to play against the Knicks on Wednesday.

He wasn't even in the arena as of 6:30 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. game. In addition, Stephon Marbury will not play tonight due to the death of his father, according to Dave D'Alessandro's blog for the Newark Star-Ledger. Get both players on your bench if you have that option and look for Eddie Gill to get a lot of run at PG for the Nets tonight. As for New York, some combination of Mardy Collins, Nate Robinson, Fred Jones and Jamal Crawford will man the point. Dec. 5 - 6:39 pm et

Starting point guard Marko Jaric practiced "almost fully" on Wednesday after missing two games because of a sprained foot and ankle that he suffered Friday against San Antonio.

"[Jaric's ankle] is improving," interim coach Jerry Sichting said Wednesday. "There's a chance he could play [on Thursday]. He may have to wait one more ballgame." If you can, keep Jaric benched until he's played a full contest, then play him every game and hope Randy Foye doesn't kill his value entirely.

76ers reserve guard Lou Williams had to leave Saturday's win over the Knicks after David Lee knocked him to the ground in the third quarter.

Lee was called for a flagrant foul (1) but thankfully Williams played a little bit before leaving the game, so hopefully there will be no serious injury to report. When we learn more we'll let you know, but in the meantime Kyle Korver would see a temporary boost in value if Williams misses any more time.

Blooki for you:

Blazers' F/C LaMarcus Aldridge is going to be sidelined for at least a week after an MRI revealed plantar fasciitis in his right foot on Monday.

Aldridge has been fitted with a walking boot, did not practice Monday and didn't travel with the team to Utah, where the Blazers play on Tuesday. "The doctors are telling us at least a week,'' coach Nate McMillan said Monday. "It could calm down sooner, or it could be longer. We just know if he continued playing on it, there was a risk.''McMillan said he will start Channing Frye at PF tonight against the Jazz, as he prefers to keep Travis Outlaw coming off the bench. This is devastating news to Aldridge and his owners, and it would have been nice to have known sooner than later.

Nelson banged up

Source: Rotoworld

Jameer Nelson hit just 2-of-9 shots for four points and six turnovers in Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.

The Magic have now lost back-to-back games to the Hawks and Bucks and three in a row, and can't feel good about that. Nelson is still struggling with the death of his father and has been a model of inconsistency this season. We still think he's going to get it worked out and have some solid fantasy value, but it's been a bumpy ride thus far. Reports during the broadcast indicated that Nelson is "banged up," so let's just hope he doesn't miss any time. If he does, it's possible that Carlos Arroyo could steal his job at some point.
