Nuggets point guard Chucky Atkins is expected to miss six to eight weeks after an MRI on Saturday revealed a severe right groin strain.
Is anyone interested in adding Chucky Atkins to your bench? Your 3rd rounder in 2008 for Atkins and my 6th rounder.
GO [1] - I fedback to nba about 3s as well tonight. I expect them to be added soon. I seem to recall that last season was missing 3s as well early in the season.

Just trying to look over past threads but can't seem to find it...
Do we set a lineup on a daily basis, or a weekly basis?
I can't seem to set a separate lineup from today's for tomorrow.

In the entire crop of drafted players, regardless of round, who is most likely to be crowned "Steal of the Draft"??
1.13 - Ronnie Brewer: Efficient player, rarely turns the ball over and a ton of upside 2.03 - Andres Nocioni: A kobe trade away from stardom. Bulls will be running Hinrich, Kobe, Nocioni, Thomas, Big Ben as their 5. 2.10 - Amir Johnson: Yes, I am a bit of a homer...but if Amir gets minutes, he will give you somewhere in between Jermaine O'Neal & KG #'s. 2.12 - Martell Webster: Its his make or break year, a personal favorite of mine b/c he loves the trey. He finally gets his shot to prove it this time. 2.18 - Jason Kapono: fits raptors perfectly. sharpshooter to compliment TJ Ford speed, Bosh's low post play and stretches the zone. 3.01 - Dorrell Wright: Only b/c of the trade with Ricky Davis, he gets his shot. 3.09 - Shaq: The big aristotle, can he get 14/10 all season? Either way, tremendous value. 3.16 - Nate Robinson: All the experts "sleeper" pick. Per rotoworld, funston, & bill simmons among others. 4.12 - Kyle Lowry: The tandem of Conley Jr. & Lowry could be downright scary in an uptempo offense. A poor man's nash & barbosa. 4.18 - Francisco Garcia: Make or break year for him, and will play in an uptempo offense on a rebuilding squad. 5.01 - Rashad McCants: Starting SG in Minnesota. They might be the Atlanta Hawks west b/c they really have no PG...but McCants will get his opportunity. 5.04 - Gerald Green: I almost traded GO for him but didnt want to drop any of my keepers. Tremendous upside for minutes on a team where its all up for grabs. 5.13 - Hilton Armstrong: Tyson Chandler is only blocking his fantasy stardom. 5.20 - Josh Boone: Nets frontcourt - up for grabs for that "Mikki Moore" spot. 6.16 - Jordan Farmar: Phil might like the bigger PGs, but this guy is a grinder and makes the most of his opportunity. 6.19 - Marcus Williams: Jason Kidd trade away from fantasy goodness.
I'm sure there are others out there...but thats just my take on what I liked and where they were taken. Whats everyone else's thoughts?

Others who might be nominated to be a SOD for this year:
2.02 Jamaal Magloire: Will this finally be his year as the starting C? 2.04 Chris Wilcox: A man among boys at times 2.13 Udonis Haslem: He has the opportunity 2.14 Jason Maxiell: Worked hard in the offseason 2.16 Hedo Turkoglu: Starting and will get plenty of PT 2.20 Grant Hill: Will he be rejuvenated in Phx or is he washed up? 4.14 Juan Carolos Navarro: Shoots lights out. Could be huge if Miller goes down 5.07 Theo Ratliff: Is he really back? 5.12 Joel Przybilla: Starting but will he make the most of his PT? 5.16 Linas Kleiza: Wildcard. We've seen what he can do. Could be starting SG or 6th man. 6.13 Reggie Evans: We know he can board, but what else?

from the league "consitution" on the nba site
VI. Prizes
A fine plaque will be engraved and shipped to the winner courtesy of the previous year's winner. The trophy will be yours to proudly display with your other cherished mementos for 1 year. It will be the winner's responsibility to engrave it and ship it to the winner. There will be an added nominal fee to help cover expenses related to the engraving and shipping of the plaque.
A separate cash prize pool has also been established. It is strictly voluntary. Only those who participate will be eligible for this prize. $15 USD entry must be paid by the season opener. The exact method of prize distribution will vary from year to year depending on participation. We focus payouts so it will NOT be winner take all. Six owners will have a chance to "win something." Prize pool funds are due by Opening Night. You must be in the pool every year or out of it. No cherry picking on a down year or an exceptionally good one.
2006-07 Payout has 17 managers paid: 1st $100 2nd $60 3rd $35 4th $25 5th $20 6th $15
Total Payouts is 17 X $15 = $255
Ineligible for prize pool: PD, Pistol Pete, Mike D
If any of the non-participants qualify, the prizes will be reallocated by the commissioners. Managers will move up payout position(s) and any remaining funds will go into the trophy fund.

Slizz, the site fees (dues) have been waived this year as we have extra money in our treasury four our plaque and postage/shipping. The site is free. So the only money due are those who are always in our prize pool. Contact me privately with any other questions outside of what GO posted from our constitution.

How do funds get redistributed if a non eligible player wins the prize pool? I'm assuming it's up to the commissioners now but perhaps we should establish some set of guidelines on how to redistribute. Like if the prize is under $30 all of it gets reallocated back to the league. If it's over $30 it's divided equally among the top 6 that are eligible for prizes.

I think that is me in the fish's mouth trying to swim up that river. It seems I won't have to make any moves in the near future. Since we have 4 bench slots ...
1. Cuttino Mobley left tonight with a groin injury after playing just five minutes.
2. Nene left tonight with a sprained left thumb and will not return.
3. Chucky Atkins is missing six to eight weeks with a severe right groin strain.
4. Greg Oden.
That's 3 of my 6 keepers and my #1 pick. Stromile Swift is now a full-time player for me. My team sure does suck. They just plain suck! I've seen teams suck before, but they are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked!

Lest anyone think I'm pulling a "Twarpy".....
.....I'm pretty well stuck with all 4 guys on my bench being injured in: Brand, Bibby, M. Williams and Pachulia. This still leaves me with an active roster, although stud rookie Brandan Wright has yet to leave the bench for the Warriors.
Mini "On The Block" advertisement:
I believe I can be convinced to consider trading Marcus Camby this year. Obviously he is a total beast in this league, at or near the league lead in OREB, REB and BLK, along with 1+ steal a game and a solid FG%.
I could also deal Mike Miller, who could help with his huge threes, strong FG% for a scorer, decent rebounding and points scored.
I would be looking towards the future when dealing these players, considering that with Brand and Bibby out most of the year that I must build towards the 2008-2009 season. I would be looking for a young frontcourt player most likely, and can even package a veteran + a less-established young player (i.e. Maxiell, B. Wright) for a more established young player. The possibilities are endless!

It stinks looking at the UFC site and seeing your team in last place.
Wizards cut Haywood's minutes, Channing Frye stinks, 2 people injured, 1st round pick not getting minutes, and there is your recipe for dead last! (hello, oj mayo *laughs*) The only bright note on my team is that Parker/Maggette are clicking!
Speaking of Maggette, he is on the block and I think would make a nice compliment to a contending team b/c my team is obviously in rebuilding mode still!

This might have been mentioned before, but I hate how the trade room gives outdated stats, and what appears to be strange mix of total stats & averages--some of them don't even even appear to be right! I don't know how you do the numbers, but Chauncy Billups, in 70 games last year, didn't have "868.7" points.
They should allow you to specify a range of dates for the stats, and have the ability to choose totals or averages. They allow those on the team pages, but there are no stat viewing options on the trade page.

After seeing Lewis's line tonight, I'm split on if I would have wanted the game, probably because it would have helped in categories that I need.
I don't mind that I don't get the stats, but just out of curiousity, if the trade had gone through correctly, would I have gotten credit for the game? The trade would not have been processed until tomorrow at the earliest.
As I said, just clarifying a point to avoid future debates.

In CBS, I could have fixed things on my own and given you the stats for Lewis. Here, you'd have had to been around before game time to swap make and then make it right.
Live scoring has half my team on the bench again. They will have it right by tomorrow, but that's twice this week they've done that to me adn it really screws up the live standings.

Unless someone else wants to tackle the job (and it will require starting from scratch, as the site formats have all changed), you're out of luck.

I've had issues with guys who are in my lineup not showing up in live scoring, but the next day they are showing up correctly in the results.
Also, I set my lineup several days in advance then went back and made one change and it copied over my lineups going forward. Apparenly there is a checkbox in which Frick alluded to that you have to uncheck.
CBS has a history trail we can check when you make changes to your lineup but NBA doesn't.
KF, NBA has those features this year. Finding some of their "features" are not nec. intuitive.

Guru - Since you have commish access, you are able to change any player on any day (same-day or retro). There were a few occasions last season where I was setting a lineup for the next day ... when I would have an "oh crap" moment ... realizing that I just benched a player for the current day that needed to be active.
If you are going to make a "commish move", it shows up as a red font, which is a new feature this year ... making "oh crap" moves harder to make. Not sure if that was it ... but it was a thought.
GO & Guru - I honestly cannot figure out if Boozer & Garcia were in your active lineups yesterday or not. I look at the results link one time and they are benched. I look at it a second time, and they are active. Hmmm.

This season has been a disaster so far for me. I whiffed on Belinelli pick assuming the Azibuke was just hype and the rest of my team just A) Sucks, or B) is hurt. I've got Diogu, Maggette, Foye, Haywood all nursing injuries and Amir just waiting until the last 1/4 of the season to get his PT!
Ok, now that i've vented, hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving!

I am interested in an established player - would need to be PG, SG or SF. I am not afraid of someone aged (i.e. late 20's/early 30's) if they are good enough.
I have young lions Jason Maxiell (DET) and Brendan Wright (UNC stud - rookie w/GSW) available to deal. A pick can be included if necessary, dependent obviously on the quality of the player coming over. With my sorry state of injury affairs (Brand, Bibby, now Arenas), the amount of contribution in 2007-2008 is immaterial.

While I have used more game than any other manager and my per game averages are poor, I'm still happy that my team has done so well. After sitting with 4 and 5 injured players last year for long stretches it's a nice change.
I'm a bit concerned about the number of games that I've used so far, but I think that the NBA.com calculations are screwy.

After getting a note complainging about an individual owner's game limit usage not being up to par, I went through every team.
The following managers are significanly (50 or more) under projected max GPs:
Blurred Crusaders (UTL) Species (UTL) Hibachi Grill (F and UTL) barilko (UTL)
Doesn't nec. mean you've done anything wrong and I've not looked into injuries or anything else. It's a simple objective observance after I was asked to look at one particular team. Also, simply failing to be close to max GPs doesn't nec. mean you've been a abad manager or have tanked, etc. Again, purely objective numbers.

Guilty as charged. No Arenas, Brand or Bibby to play, and 'stuck' (stuck, meaning he is a worthwhile young lion in terms of long term value) using Brendan Wright, who is not getting PT. I did go ahead and cut ties with one injured player in order to have another live body.

I am way over in all of mine but I haven't been using all of my players. I think the projections are suspect for the games over. So the games under might even be worse.
I usually live on the wire but I haven't made one move yet this year. Even though I traded away my 1st and 3rd, I'm obviously very happy with my draft thus far. Don't like the fact that they want to limit Dirk's minutes to keep him fresh, but at least he's healthy.

In terms of games played to date by all NBA teams, we are now 27.5% through the season. I have 206 GP so far, and at that pace, I would finish the season with 749 GP. The game site projects me to finish with 758 GP, so their projections are a bit aggressive at this point.

Also, UTIL is 3 slots. G, F are two slots and C is one slot. Obviously slizz being under at F is more telling than if all else was equal from someone else at UTL. I'm pretty happy with the managers in this league and am pretty comfortable that each manager is going to do is best to be competitive even if his team is in some percentage of rebuilding mode.
We can take a look at the teams again a little later and see what's up. Obviously injuries are going to have a more pronounced affect at this point in the season.

OK, I'm going to lay it all on the line. The note about a certain manager was in fact sent from George Mitchell. I gave him access and carte blanche authority to bring me the dirt. Even though there are several teams who are suspect, we will take each team on a case by case basis in terms of punishment. He has asked me not to do anything, but who the hell is he anyhow?

Sorry guys, I know my name (hibachi) is synonomous with last place...I would like that to change but let me explain :)
I have had injuries galore this season (3 for mostly the entire year - Foye, Diogu, Haywood, Parker, and Maggette & Meatballs) and 3 rookies/youth who get ZERO PT (Thaddeus Young, Marco Belinelli, Amir Johnson) but at the same time, I think they will be successful players.
I didnt want to waste starts because players like Belinelli will get you 0 points on any given night, same thing with Amir Johnson thus using something that could be valuable later on in the season. Hopefully my luck will change b/c those who play football leagues with me know I dont like to tank.
And the guys who do start: Nate Robinson (1 good start for every 3 awful ones), Channing Frye (he starts only b/c he gets SOME minutes), and Charlie Villanueva (who is awful too). I hope my 3 rookies/youth eventually turn things around and can jumpstart my team going forward.
So please dont think I'm intentionally tanking :)

I'm glad to see that someone (Peter N) is finally showing Stromile Swift some love, and adding him to his team. He's been a FA since I cut him on 12/15. I'm one of those schmuck managers that takes a chance on him at least once a season on a team or two, and I'm always disappointed. Maybe I'll learn next season. Good luck with him Pete. Expect disappointment.
And Peter N - I was in the Lubbock airport on 12/26 when the Tech team was leaving for the Gator Bowl. I was really surprised how small a team they were. Not a bunch of huge lineman. Or perhaps the big guys don't fit on a Southwest plane, and had to travel via a different method. :-)

Tosh, our offensive line is massive. We average one of the biggest offensive lines in Div 1. Maybe we just bussed our big guys to Florida. ;-) Here's our starting 5.
LT - Jake Johnson, 6'7", 353 LG - Louis Vazquez, 6'6", 335 C - Shawn Byrnes, 6'4", 304 RG - Brandon Carter, 6'7", 374 RT - Rylan Reed, 6'7", 314
As you might expect, it is easy to spot an o-line on campus. :-)
We'll see what happens with Swift. It was an easy move for me as Diop has become a forgotten man with Dampier at full strength and Bass making a nice contribution. I've always liked Swift going back to his days at LSU. However, my expectations are low so that should keep the disappointment at a minimum.

LaMarcus Aldridge Josh Howard Rajon Rondo Sean Williams Acie Law (hopefully he can come around) Francisco Garcia Al Thornton Spencer Hawes Julian Wright
Drew Gooden Jamario Moon Boris Diaw
Of those guys listed, I would like to move Drew Gooden, who is a rebounding force, Jamario Moon, and Boris Diaw. If anyone has any interest in any of these guys, make an offer.
I will move one of my younger players in a package, as long as it nets me another good young player in return.

With Chucky Atkins out for the year, Anthony Carter has some value as DEN's starting PG. He won't score huge numbers, but is averaging 1.6 steals and dishing out some strong assist numbers recently. I'm not looking for a king's ransom for him, so a contender in need of assists and steals should drop me a line.

I've been killed by injuries lately. What's funny though is that even though I'm losing key counting stats, my percentages have shot way up. I knew at least JT and Shaq would miss time throughout the year so wasn't worried about being over projected games limits.
Still haven't made any transactions. Have gotten a few inquiries about Farmar, but he could be big at some point and could be a great keeper--depending on how things shake out for me. Kleiza is another one I haven't used much but is an injury away from consistency. It's amazing how valuable Shaq has been to me--even in off year--in orebs and blocks even though he hurts my ftp.

I agree about Shaq, it was tough to not make him a keeper. But it was frustrating to have him take up a roster slot last year and sit in the IR for most of the season. Since I've been blessed to be free of the injury bug so far this season that wouldn't have been a problem.

Tosh - CHANNING FRYE was one of my keepers. I think that will top Chuck.
Barilko - good job on rebuilding your squad. My team is finally getting better and healthy too! Hopefully I wont finish last.

Shaq's having to take up the slack of Mourning's departure. So long as his body holds up he'll do OK. But I'm sure Miami is a little worried that they don't have a quality guy to spell Shaq 15-20 minutes a game.

I am definitely fighting to make sure I don't finish last here.
I've had to part with some pretty good players, but I hope that in the longterm plan that everything falls into place.
That being said, anyone on my roster is available, of course the younger guys are going to cost more than some of the older ones...

The main thing we've tried to do in our deep G2-/24 leagues is to not allow the Keepers alone to win or lose you the league. The draft, trades, FA/WW pickups can be huge parts of it. It's amazing how important some of my draft picks have been for me. Shaq has been nowhere close to a good player, but I have a certain strategy I use and his stats are essential to that--well except for his ftp...:). Wilcox has been a big part of key stats as well. Tinsley and Roy and the few games I've missed with Chandler have been felt too. Still, I played Farmar, McCants and Kleiza a few times more than I should have. Using McCants again so hopefully I can keep my GPs usage to the players who can help me in the cats I need the most help in. Still I'd rather be over GPs now and cut back then be under them and have to catch up late with subpar players. I also don't totally believe I am as far over as NBA says I am.

I hope you guys haven't discovered the power of the jump analysis. Somehow I can gain 5 points in FT% when I'm ranked 19th. I'm not sure how that works.
Other than an occasional speed issue I can't say I'm missing Yahoo. The free live scoring makes up for some of the other limitations.

In regards to the current trade.
Do picks 1-6 actually represent our keepers? So a 4th round pick is actually an 10th round pick on the NBA site?

GO is movin' on up.... I'd like to welcome myself to the big time - Top 5. I'd also like to welcome back Kevin Martin and the two shots he missed this week.
I'd probably sell my #1 pick if someone could give me a player they don't plan to keep but would make an impact for me the next few months. Assists and blocks would be targeted categories. Also have a 3rd and 4th for sale for lesser players. If you aren't keeping them, why not move up a few rounds?

Didn't realize the Young Lions accepted, so looks like I got assists covered.
Frick - I would say that only rounds 1-6 on the "Trade Picks" options are applicable here. Cause technically when our draft gets going its "Round 1 until Round 6"... I think the NBA site just has all those because they are factoring in the keepers. So just pretend 7-12 aren't even there.

Finley has been solid, but I think rebounding/blocks are where I need to head with my next move.
I've got plenty of 3's now with Crawford, Kevin Martin, Mike Miller (and MoWill, Ricky and Stevenson). I should rename myself Da Bomb Squad!... except I think someone already has that trademarked :)

I have Drew Gooden up on the auction block. He is good for 10 boards a night.
Jamario "Slam Dunk Over The" Moon is also a good source for rebounds, but also delivers the blocks!

actually RSF - Drew Gooden does get 9.0 RPG which is pretty good I'd say in a league that counts rebounds twice. Higher than others you'd expect such as Gasol, Ben Wallace, Dirk Nowitzki, McDyess, Bogut, Brad Miller, Alrdidge, Rasheed and Troy Murhpy.
He's also only 26 years old and set to be an unrestricted free agent at seasons end. Seems like he would be a decent pickup for someone looking for a good rebounding PF and potential keeper on a really thin team.

I think the biggest issue with Gooden is that his numbers were inflated by Poofyhair's hold out.
I definitely know the value of Gooden, having traded into him and out of him several times in the past.
Take a peak at those monthly splits this year to see some disturbing trends.
Now, if you want to talk cheap rebounds...Reggie Evans can be had... ;)
Man, I'm seriously jonesing to just nuke this entire squad. I mean, they're all great and such, but boy do they ever suck.

Varejao's return certainly costs him (and Zydrunas) a few minutes per game - but he has consistently averaged 8+ RPG over the last few seasons, so its not like it was an extreme jump.
Solid - but not spectacular - sums Gooden up I guess. You need some guys like that though, I am rolling with my man McDyess for similar consistent results.

Gooden is still averaging 8 boards for the month of January, 3 of which are Offensive. Everyone loves things that are offensive.
The standings for rebounds are very close, so Gooden should holf value as he is a pretty young guy as well. Poofy Hair Guy ain't got nothing on Gooden!!!

If ever I needed more active spots, it would be this year. I've NEVER had such a solid draft that I've been unable to help myself on the FA wire. Problem is that I'm still a smidge unbalanced.
I have been getting several inquiries (esp. for Farmar and Kleiza) lately, but there really isn't anyone I wanted to part with. I even sent two feelers out in the last couple of days. Basically saying that those two are an injury away from going off and that I really didn't want to move them. Then of course, Kleiza goes off for 41 and Farmar also has a solid game the same day.
It's a great problem to have--no doubt. Hopefully my injured players either come back full-strength or don't come back so I don't keep wasting games.

I've had the same issue, I wasn't sure if my trade offer didn't go through, it just disappeared.
I also changed my line-up yesterday. I checked the live scoring a couple of times and the changes were in place. When I looked at the results page for yesterday those changes aren't showing. Did anyone happen to copy the totals from yesterday before the games started? I had them, to do some analysis of my team, but deleted them. Has anyone else had this problem.
