RSF will your scoring site be available this year ? If so, how do I access?

I haven't looked into it yet. Mainly because I haven't fired up that old dog of a server for a while. I'll try to get to it soon and see if its still functional.

Very strange things...

I tried the localized HTA version with all the bells and whistles...and it doesn't work.

I turned on the old server with the ancient version of the program and it works fine.

So, I'll have to look at the HTA version (at some point, not a real priority item for me).

To use the online one, just goto http://rsf.hopto.org

And yes, I know 10/25 doesn't work. Its due to the postponed LA-UTA game.

RSF,

The online version doesn't seem to work for me. I get a runtime error:

Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A0009)
Subscript out of range: '[number: 3]'
/index.asp, line 140

Is this my browser?

Also, is it possible to access this one on a PDA or mobile device?

couple things:

wen i try to switch between games i first get an error message and then wen i try a second time it goes through...not a big deal

also they changed scoring so that a missed FT is only -.5. pretty sure this isn't being reflected

For now, I've removed the "Status" data which is screwing things up. Of course, if you click on a game that hasn't started yet, it errors out. Just hit the back button.

This is for the online one. The Local HTA is working just fine, as far as I can tell.

Put some minor tweaks into the local version, including dumping the PSC (since its defunct) score and replacing it with the NBA Pick One Challenge (which I am playing). I actually set mine to default sort to P1C, but didn't do that for the one available for download, since more are playing TSN.

OK. NBASE is in there now. Also made it so you can set default sort order. That is per session, as I didn't feel like dealing with cookies or whatever it would take to do that, right now.

BTW, that thing is open source, so anyone is able to work on it, assuming their spaghetti-code to vbScript converter is working properly.

Well, got most of it back and running. Yahoo added a few things to their boxscores and changed formatting on some numbers (minutes).

Minutes still don't work right, but I'll get to those later.

So, here is a mostly operational version:

I've never been able to get the download ones to ever work either. I always used the original one and I get the same screen as reberr refers to. I hate having to try and figure the scores on my own and the Kafenatid site that i used for backup, I don't like the set up they are using now and haven't even tried to download everything they ask for.
Anyway, I really appreciate being able use the scoring site you set up and your sharing it with us, if you can fix it great. If not I'll just estimate until the morning when TSN posts them.

But from reading Farn, blade and Jet's notes, there is obviously something going on. I'm curious if its just too early in the game or something? Maybe the formatting changes after some stats get into the boxscores or something.

The formatting changed indeed. A player who is on court is marked bold.
The a-tag for every player is then embedded by a strong-tag.

Maybe that helps.

Finally got annoyed with the minutes not working on the local version and fixed it. Nothing else added (or that I recall adding)...

game_viewer_025.hta (Right click and "Save Target As" locally, then run locally)

Something is wrong with the online(haven't checked the local one) version, it shows way too many games....

I think I have this fixed, but have only tested on completed boxscores. I'll release the local one tomorrow during games to be sure. Also updated the online one with similar code, so I think that is functional now too.

Did some tweaking to both the online and local versions to make the unavailable boxscores a little more user friendly (instead of jsut crapping out). Still need to look at a few of them (some variations still crap out).

Here is the latest local version: game_viewer_026.hta (Right click and "Save Target As" locally, then run locally)

"Save Target As" is what is in IE. "Save Link As" is in Firefox, but yeah. Save it locally, then run it locally (assuming Windows)

When the site goes down during the night, it seems to me my ISP is saying I'm using too much traffic. It then resets itself after a bit of time passes. When this occurs, could someone try the local version to confirm this? The local version uses your machine, rather than the server to read/produce the results.

RSF, I'm using the local. There are times when it doesn't work right away ( I get an error message ),

At some point later in the evening it starts working fine, which seems contrary to what you are saying. I noticed this initially, when there were afternoon games, like Sunday afternoon.

Is that what you are asking?

OK, then the next question is, when the boxscores fail, can people still get to the boxscores at: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/scoreboard (and I mean the boxscores, not just the scoreboard)

Had some power outages the other night and things have been screwy ever since. The servers are back up, the router is fine, the redirectors are fine, but something is just hosed. I'll get around to it when I can, but for now, use the local version (if you have it).

Well, that was a calamity of events.

Not sure which natural disaster caused more the the issue...

1. The power outages.
or
2. The 8 year old trying to get into the server rack after seeing some Christmas gifts stashed in it.

Either way, its back up.

Yep...when it goes down during the night, its Yahoo saying I've visited the site too many times. It happened tonight. I checked the local version and it didn't work for me either (but it should continue to work for others). I wonder how long they lock me out for.

First I've heard about it, but not surprising. I've been doing to modifications to the servers. Also just boosted the network package from Crumcast...which I'm actually thinking of dropping back to slower speeds since its not all that significant an improvement.

Lemme go check out whats up.

Warning!

A couple of things are happening this weekend (or I hope are).

1. I'm supposed to be getting a new Network card for this server on Saturday. I plan to put that in when it gets here. If it get here... Might be Sunday though.

2. Due to some recent financial constraints, I'm dropping my internet speeds waaaay down. I don't know what to expect, but if this thing kills my overall network performance, it may go away.
