One of the things that have really changed over the last 2 or 3 years is how we deal with the cheapie. Used to be a long time hold to save trades for the big pointers. Now it's money, money, money...Louis Williams, what will we do ? |

i havent touched my team in awhile and im making all my trades today
I'm planning on Kobe > Rasheed A Blatche > Jefferson L Williams > S Jax
the only problem is that its preferable to go L williams > S Jax tommorrow and get the Williams game tonight but then if i do that i only have a 30 k window meaning im more then likely to get screwed over (because L Williams will no doubt be a top loser tonight) so i would have to forfeit the L williams game
What i can do is go with the herd and trade Howard > Kidd tonight and get the cash available to keep L williams for one more game (since s jax doesnt play till tommorrow) not to mention save 300k probably in swings from Howard leaks
Pros: 2 Howard games is def better then 2 Kidd games but i calculate the free L William game + 2 Kidd games is probably better 2 Howard games.
Cons: Howard plays GSW 12/3 which always means a big night for studs.
Do u guys think its worth it? (I was initally going to hold Howard til the 4th)

your plan doesn't mention when you're trading Howard and for who...and I think you are overstating L. Williams' losses. I think most people will watch his game tonight before making any decisions. He only had one bad game after all.
I expect Howard will be the top loser or close to it, because of Howard to Kidd trades.
If I were you, I wouldn't trade Kobe, if it means going tradeless on saturday and I wouldn't be so quick to dump williams either.

qwert Howard is going to go for Kidd (i mentioned that up top)
i don't know how much l williams will lose but i onyl have a 30k window which means i'd hafta sell him today if i were to complete my rotation unless i made that Howard>Kidd move make a bigger window.
Kobe/Howard HAS to go in order for me to upgrade Blatche to a suitable player (Jefferson in this case) .... a main reason for ridding Kobe early is 1. He hasn't been producing well 2. His price can only go down from here 3. There are better routes out today then there will be on 12/6 after his B2B 4. (and most important) Trading Howard and holding Kobe would leave me centerless.

Im with qwert and deejay, Why trade williams today? All cheapies have bad nights, but he has been real good so far... Today's best move is kobe-kidd. And Howard is going to punish all who sold early.

qwert : u made good point though in the other thread about Kidd's opponents i think i'll jus keep howard and lose the willaims game
Deejay: i'm usually a holder and i would keep williams but then (with the trades im making) i would have 5 mill unused in the bank that i could either have sit there for a week or upgrade williams > S Jax
the extra cash could be handy for maneuvering space next week but i'd also hate to go so long with unused $$$

An occasional bad game is expected for cheapies like Williams. If he weren't playing today I'd be a little more concerned about those with itchy trade fingers selling, but he plays today. It's definitely worth seeing how he does tonight before making a decision on him. It would suck to sell only to see him rebound tonight when his schedule is fantastic for 2 weeks still.
Remember his 6 games prior to yesterday: 30, 22, 22.5, 23.5, 31.5, and 33. If you trade tonight, you're just handcuffing yourself later when other more deserving guys need to be sold.

yea i kno i picked him up real early at .62 mill with intentions of the 3 week hold (even when yehosh brought up the korver issue) but the way my team unfolded at this point its basically jus deciding whether i'd rather have him or S jax.

I don't see the need to trade Blatche or Williams today.
Granted, Blatche should probably go tomorrow, but trading two players who play, one of whom has been very good for his price until last night, is not ideal in my opinion.
And even Kobe has averaged 44/game over his last 4...which isn't amazing, but it's not must move territory.
If I were you, I would sit tight...or explore just trading Kobe and waiting to see what you want to do with the extra cash. If haywood gets injured tonight, Blatche could become a hold...if Williams has a solid game, he has a great schedule ahead.
Just my opinion.

it might seem like that now...but holding cash for a few days is far from a disaster...it makes your next trade a lot easier, when you might be forced to make a trade.

why is jefferson premature on the 12/4?
no rookies, eh? who are you selling moon for? ;)
JMISA, don't want to talk you out of your plan if it's one you're comfortable with and works for your team. I just get nervous when people talk about making a whole bunch of trades, because I know twenty minutes into the first games of the night they often wish they had only made the trades they really had to make.

21: I guess it isn't soo premature but the best pickup time for minnesota is 12/11 if u buy @ 12/4 your tradining into a 3 in 7 ... the upsides of course is that its a smooth transaction from C to C and minnesota's scedule is perfect after that throughout the holidays ... but thats also if you plan to lock up 9 mill into AL jefferson for that long probably also means not being able to afford the move back to Howard as well

Wow, checked in only now and was shaking my head at any idea to sell Loius tonight. And at the thread title because it really looks like it's referring to the notion of dropping Louis. {gulp}
But I see that's not the plan so I could stop shaking my head rather quickly. :) The only reason to drop Louis today would be if someone has 9m lying around for a stud upgrade *and* has 9 players who are even more of a hold than Louis. In that case congrats to such a perfect roster.
Other than that there isn't any halfway justifiable reason to drop Louis today. Except maybe an uncontrolled urge to simply burn trades for the sake of burning them... ;)

So I'm one of the Baron sellers. I went to Chris Paul for the back to back. Burned last night as he put up a 30. Now I'm watching a gamecast on a Saturday night.
He was on his way to the 3D at half with 7 boards. No boards in the 3rd. He got one with 1 in the 4th and 1 with a minute left in OT. Since then, there have been 2 uncredited NO offensive boards. Any chance he got one and will get credit for it later?
By the way, I'm also guilty of trading Jackson to Caron Butler for his back to back. Butler pulled through fo rme tonight, but it was still a foolish trade.

75 -- Well, I had wanted to make the Baron move since I first picked him up. I had the trades and knew it would be good differentation. I really wanted Bosh but his groin ruled him out. Then I saw Paul against Atlanta and thought I had a chance for a big game. Turns out I was wrong.
When I went to double check my work on Paul, I saw Butler was averaging 50 a game over the last 7 and went for it. So that was my real foolish move. I don't have any leftover trades outside of Howard.
So I do regret the Jackson -- Butler swap, even though it worked out point wise, but I feel real good about the Baron -- Paul trades.
