I mentioned in last night action thread that Beno left the game with what appeared to be a sprained ankle, actually it was a kick to the leg.

After tying his career high with 24 points in Philadelphia on Friday, Moore has scored a combined 10 points in the two games since while hitting 4 of 12 shots. He said his recent play has been affected by a finger injury to point guard Beno Udrih.

"Recently it's been like (that) because Beno is hurt," he said. "Beno said he doesn't have feeling in his finger, so he hasn't been aggressive in shooting the ball and that's a part of me getting open. John (Salmons) found me a couple of times open. I forced a jump shot and I hit it, but other than that, there was nothing else."

Udrih had a new ailment to play through on Tuesday, as he was kicked in the right leg by Nets point guard Jason Kidd with 2:09 to play in the fourth quarter. He lay on the ground and eventually came out for the remainder of play.

"I tried to contest (Kidd's shot), and think he saw he was going to miss the shot and he tried to draw the foul," said Udrih, who was 0 of 8 from the field but had eight assists. "He kicked his leg and kicked me right here in the muscle. I couldn't feel anything."

Rotoworld is saying:

There's no indication as to the severity of either of his injuries, but we're going to list him as questionable for Wednesday's game.

Kobe still hampered by groin injury

A groin injury is limiting Kobe Bryant. Kwame Brown's ankle problem, meanwhile, has helped Andrew Bynum flourish.

With Bryant trying to fight through some soreness, Bynum and the Los Angeles Lakers look to sweep their season series with the Chicago Bulls when the teams meet Tuesday night.

Bryant was injured in the final minutes of a loss to Golden State on Friday night and was a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers, but the star guard had a game-high 32 points as the Lakers (14-9) won 113-92.

The two-time defending NBA scoring champion, though, had to make adjustments due to some pain.

"I can't really open up my stride as much as I'm used to, so I've got to take shorter, choppy steps as opposed to opening my gait," said Bryant, second in the league with 27.2 points per game. "So if I can just keep it in my mind to keep my stride short, I'll be all right."

per rotoworld:

Kenyon Martin left Thursday's game with a strained right hamstring.

He left at the end of the third quarter and will not return. He had eight points, 10 boards and three blocks before leaving, and owners have to hope that this isn't a serious injury. K-Mart has been playing at a very high level and we're guessing he's day-to-day. If he's going to miss time, Eduardo Najera will get hot again.

Butler day-to-day.

From above article:

"Butler sprained his right ankle during practice Thursday but started Friday night against Atlanta. He said he felt fine until he rolled the left ankle when he landed after taking his first shot.
Butler toughed it out but obviously wasn't himself and finished with 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting in just under 40 minutes in a 97-92 loss. He is listed as day-to-day.
The good news is that the Wizards will have Sunday off and don't play again until Wednesday night at Charlotte.
"Hopefully I can get some rest, get some treatment and go," Butler said."

Heat guard Dwyane Wade did not believe his shoulder injury from Saturday's game would be a lingering problem. Wade said he pulled a muscle in his right shoulder in the second quarter.

Luckily, his offseason surgery was on his left shoulder. The Heat did not practice Sunday, but Wade received treatment on the left shoulder and also handed out holiday gifts to underprivileged families in Overtown. Wade said his treatment plan is to ''take some pills, rest it and ice it'' over the next couple of days. It sounds like he'll be fine.

Caron hoping to return tomorrow, but status at this point is up in the air.

Butler, who missed Saturday's loss at Indiana after spraining his right ankle in practice on Thursday and spraining his left ankle early in Friday's home loss to Atlanta, said there is a chance that he could be in the lineup tomorrow...........

"I was out there getting up and down a little bit, working on some cuts and everything and it felt pretty good," Butler said. "It's the first time I played with a tape job in a while so I was just trying to play through it. I'm definitely going to get onto the court in Charlotte [today] and see how it feels."

Butler, who leads the Wizards in scoring, averaging 22 points per game, said his main concern is coming back too quickly and allowing the injuries to linger.

The Wizards have a tough stretch coming up with tomorrow's game at Charlotte, Friday's game at New Jersey, Saturday's game at home against Miami and a Jan. 2 home contest against Detroit.

"Yeah, one thing I don't want is to have it bother me for a few weeks," Butler said. "Coach and everybody is on the same page in telling me that if I need another game or so, then go ahead and take it. The goal is to go into the all-star break feeling good and finish off the season strong. We are all looking at the big picture."

From the Caron article above, Daniels " hoping " for a return this weekend:

Daniels is on schedule with his recovery but also understands that he can't risk further damage to the knee by rushing back. After it was determined that Daniels sprained a ligament in his right knee following a collision with Miami's Dwyane Wade, the team established a two-to-four week timetable for his possible return.

Saturday's home game against Miami will fall 15 days after that diagnosis was made.

"I don't want this to be something that hurts me for the rest of the season," said Daniels, who was averaging 11 points and 6.6 assists in 14 games as a starter. "When I come back, I want to make sure that I can actually help the team

Caron Butler, who missed Saturday's loss at Indiana with sprained ankles, will be a game-time decision tonight at Charlotte.

That said, he doesn't sound like a guarantee for tonight, or even his next game. "I feel OK," said Butler, who tested the ankle again on Tuesday. "If I feel good after working out, I'm definitely going to give it a go. If not, I'll push for Friday [at New Jersey] or Saturday [at home vs. Miami]."

Tim Duncan suffered a right thumb injury after being raked across the arm by Denver's Kenyon Martin with 7:24 left in the third quarter of Thursday's game.

He played through the injury, staying on the floor to shoot two foul shots, making one, and then played most of the fourth quarter. X-rays taken at the arena were negative, but Duncan left the building wearing a bandage around the thumb for precautionary reasons. It sounds like he avoided a major injury here, but it's something to keep an eye on, especially given the fact that Gregg Popovich is being overly cautious when his stars are banged up this season.

Before anyone panics, the game time decision is Rotoworld's " take ".
This is a copy and paste from the newspaper:

Hill hurting
Grant Hill sat out Friday's practice, recovering from a bruised tailbone suffered vs. the Lakers on Christmas Day.

"(Thursday) night it bothered him a little, but he'll be fine (Saturday)," D'Antoni said. "He takes a couple shots (to his body) every game . . . but he's fine."

Tim Duncan hurt his left knee in a collision with Corey Maggette with 1:27 left in Sunday's game.

Duncan missed both free throws before going to the bench, but doesn't expect to miss any playing time. "It was incidental. We just went knee to knee and I think I got the worst of it," Duncan said. "It went numb for a while, but it feels a lot better now. It's going to swell a little bit, obviously, but hopefully by tomorrow it'll be fine." It sounds like Duncan will be fine, but we wouldn't be suprised to see coach Gregg Popovich give him a night off, either. Start him at your own risk.

Nash probable with stomach flu.

Ron Artest went through a full practice with the Kings on Monday and reported no setbacks in his elbow, which recently needed surgery to remove bone chips.
"I practiced the whole time," Artest said. "I had no swelling. I'm two weeks ahead of schedule. I'm not rusty or anything. I just have to get my legs back under me. But I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait to get back with my team." Artest and Mike Bibby (thumb) are both expected to rejoin the Kings on Wednesday. Daniels:
From the Washington Post

About 90 minutes before the Wizards played the Knicks on Tuesday, Antonio Daniels was in uniform. At tip-off, he was on the bench, in a suit.

The Wizards' point guard has soreness in the same knee that caused him to miss seven games in December. He had seven points and nine assists in the Wizards' win against the Celtics on Monday.

"He played very hard on it," Coach Eddie Jordan said. "It's good we're going to have two days before we play on Friday and then we'll have three days after that. So it's a good time to rest him."

and the Washington Times

The Wizards sat starting point guard Antonio Daniels because of an achy right knee.

It's the same knee that forced Daniels to miss seven games after he suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in the second quarter against Miami on Dec. 13.

Daniels will be listed as day-to-day and have his knee further evaluated today or tomorrow. The Wizards did not rule him out of Friday's rematch with the Knicks.

Daniels is averaging 8.9 points and a career-high 5.3 assists. He's also shooting a career-high 48.1 percent from the field.

Grant Hill was hoping to return from his appendectomy in time for the Suns' game on Sunday, but a more realistic scenario is that he will return on Tuesday.
"I've missed a lot in my time, so I don't want to miss any more," Hill said. This is good news for Hill's owners, and very bad news for owners of Boris Diaw. If you own Diaw, try to move him before his value tumbles again.

I was listening to Warriors flagship knbr this morning and Don Nelson was on. He questions whether Stephen Jackson will be able to play in both games of the b2b coming up. He said he banged his knee last night and also hurt his big toe via a very painful toenail injury that pushed the toenail back into his toe.

The host asked how sure he was, and Nelson said he hadn't talked to SJax this morning, but based upon how it looked last night, he was concerned.

Their website, knbr.com, will likely have this interview up on their website later today. Go to the "Murphy & Mac" page.

This isn't definitive, obviously, but beware.

Re: Stephen Jackson

Nelson interview - hear for yourself

Some quotes:

- "We got some bad news....Jackson's probably not going to be able to play for a few games, he's banged his knee, but worse than that, his toe got stepped on" and noted how he had a bloody toenail, can't walk on it, etc etc

- The host then looked to confirm this - 'so we shouldn't expect him either Friday or Saturday night?' --- Nelson replied: "I wouldn't think so...he couldn't hardly walk last night...but I'm not sure about that but I would doubt it."

Again he had not talked to him today so things could have changed.....I guess you need to draw your own conclusions.

Daniels the dreaded game time decision.

Daniels, who missed seven games with a sprained ligament in his right knee between Dec. 15 and Dec. 29 and sat out Tuesday's game because of soreness in the same knee, did not practice yesterday and will be a game-time decision tonight.

"We'll have to see how it goes," Wizards Coach Eddie Jordan said yesterday following practice. "He's been sore. Anybody who has had a sprained knee knows what it is like. Actually, not many people know what it's like because they don't play in the NBA, but it's something he has to deal with."

Stephen Jackson says he plans to play despite needing 30 minutes of treatment on his bothersome left big toe and hobbling around the locker room following Wednesday's loss to Indiana. If Jackson can't go, it would mark the Warriors first game without their tri-captain since their 1-6 start.

Covers.com also lists him as probable.

Was Nellie a little tipsy during that interview? In either case Jackson is a player that will gut it out and play with a little pain. He's not in the Cotton Camby status of randon pinkie finger DNP's. Hopefully the masses won't panic sell. I'm holding and will be at that game tonight.

Mo Williams was back at practice today...
Bucks point guard Mo Williams was back at practice today after a two-day bout with the flu which sidelined him for the team's 87-80 victory over Atlanta on Wednesday night.

Williams was able to get through the entire practice session and said he would be ready when the Bucks play Golden State at the Bradley Center on Saturday night.

Re: #73 The Washington Times is more optimistic.

Washington Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said yesterday he expects point guard Antonio Daniels to play in tonight's home game against the Knicks after the 11th year veteran missed Tuesday's game in New York and yesterday's practice with a sore right knee.

Daniels missed seven games last month after spraining his MCL on Dec. 13 against Miami, and soreness reoccurred in Monday's victory over Boston — the Wizards' third game in four nights. Daniels averaged 39 minutes of playing time during that stretch, and rather than risk further injury, Jordan shelved the guard for Tuesday's 105-93 loss to the Knicks.

The Wizards didn't practice Wednesday, and Jordan gave Daniels a third day of rest yesterday.

"It's nothing, pretty much," Jordan said. "It's just that we played a lot of games, and so he was just sore, that's all.

Daniels Likely to Return

No typed source I can show but in last night's Suns postgame they interviewed Diaw and said "What do you expect to happen with Grant Hill ready to return Tuesday?" and Boris answered as if to acknowledge that's the case.

So I guess we can assume Hill will return in some capacity on Tuesday.

Since there are only 2 games tomorrow, I would hope there isn't a premature sell off until something more definite comes out.. He is " day to day " and that is Rotoworld's spin on things. The article in the Charlotte Observer just says :

Emeka Okafor had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Gerald Wallace added 15 points before leaving late in the game with a sore left calf and knee.

In addition to only two games, there are no attractive options schedule wise, only short term options. He played 42+ minutes so I wonder how much time was left in relation to the score, etc.

Wallace Info

• Gerald Wallace says he injured his left leg in the first quarter Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies. The injury acted up Monday, and Wallace will receive treatment -- ice, electric stimulation, massage -- to be ready against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

Knowing Wallace's pain tolerance, I'll be surprised if he doesn't play against the Mavs.

more on Gerald...

Gerald Wallace will reportedly be named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.

In four games, Wallace averaged 29 points, eight rebounds, 4.8 assists, three steals and a block, easily winning the award. He was injured in Monday's game, leaving him as questionable for Wednesday with a sore left knee and calf.

little bit more on Kaman... per rotoworld

Clippers' center Chris Kaman was sidelined on Saturday because of a left shin contusion, not because of his lingering sore ankle.
No word on how long Kaman will be out, but we're considering him day-to-day for now. With their prize center sidelined, the Clippers went to a small lineup, and fill-in center Aaron Williams played only seven mintues, failing to score.

From the LA Times:

"Kaman, the only Clipper to play in every game this season, sat out because of a left shin bruise suffered during the team's loss to the New Orleans Hornets on Friday.

"Right now, it's just really stiff, really sore," Kaman said. "I can't really put a lot of weight on it. I went out and tested it before and it wasn't going to work. Now, I've got a couple days until the next game, so hopefully I'll be good with the trainers."

Kaman gametime decision

"Chris Kaman, who missed a game for the first time this season in Saturday's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, will be a game-time decision tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Kaman said Sunday that the bruise in his lower left leg was still sore. He is not sure when exactly the injury occurred, but it happened sometime during Friday's loss to the New Orleans Hornets.

"I wish I knew," he said. "I get hit, fall down, bang it so many times in a game, I don't even know the exact play."

Not really anything new, but saw this in OC Register

EL SEGUNDO - The Clippers possibly could be without two key starters for tonight’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Neither center Chris Kaman nor swingman Corey Maggette were present at Monday’s morning shootaround. Both woke up with flu-like symptoms and were told to stay home, by the team’s athletic trainer Jasen Powell.

The availability of both players would be a game-time decision, according to Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy.

In the case of Kaman, his status likely is more questionable than Maggette’s. Kaman still has lingering effects of a left shin contusion that caused him to miss last Saturday’s game at Memphis. It was the first game that Kaman did play this season.

Caron Butler will miss Tuesday's game with a left hip flexor strain and is not likely to play on Wednesday, either.

Butler suffered the injury in Sunday's loss at Milwaukee when he scored a career-high 40 points. Obviously, this is devastating news for Butler's owners and you can look for Andray Blatche to start in his place over the next two nights.

Butler out, Blatche to start

Caron Butler will not play tonight and is "probably" out for tomorrow night's game at Toronto with a left hip flexor strain. The injury happened during Sunday's loss at Milwaukee when Butler scored a career-high 40 points while almost willing the Wiz to a win. Andray Blatche will start in Caron's place and will likely start tomorrow night as well.

Obviously, the loss of Butler is huge. The team was swept out of the first round of the playoffs by the Cavs last spring without Butler and Gilbert Arenas and here we are again. I didn't get a chance to talk with Caron so I can't gauge how serious it is but Eddie Jordan made it sound as though Caron simply needs a couple of days to get it right so he can play Friday against Utah. I guess the idea is to not let it become an injury that lingers for several weeks.

From a response from an email to the beat writer for the Washington Post whether Butler should be able to play Friday:

Too early to tell. He was moving really slow when I spoke to him last night. Wouldn't be shocked if he was out till sunday

From a response from an email to the beat writer for the Clippers re Kaman and Maggette for tonight:

They are both questionable, which is one level below from a game-time decsion. So, there is a chance both could play. Neither, or one. They are human, of course, so i'm sure if they can go they will. But if they are too sick they won't.

Use the above for whatever they are worth, and they are just the opinions of a sports writer

No news to speak of regarding Kaman or Maggette for Friday as of yet:

It is Kaman's third straight game missed. He also has a bruised lower leg and the absence could be attributed to either that or flu-like symptoms. Pick one.

It is Maggette's second game missed with the flu-like symptoms. His condition was said to worsen Wednesday with a fever and an upset stomach.

Will the pair be healthy enough today to travel with the team for the first stop of the trip Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves?

"I don't know," Coach Mike Dunleavy said. "I haven't asked that question yet. I'm afraid to."
