Trip begins without Maggette

The Clippers left Thursday afternoon on their team charter to begin a seven-game, 12-day road trip. However, Maggette was left behind.

It was announced that if Maggette was feeling any better, he would take a commercial flight and join the team in Minneapolis.

Teammate Chris Kaman, who also missed the previous game with the flu, had improved enough that he was on Thursday’s team charter. However, Kaman is listed as questionable for Friday’s game

Camby may require periodic nights off

Marcus Camby missed his third game of the season Saturday night, sitting with a left knee contusion that might require periodic nights off as the season wears on.

"Yeah, you have to be careful," Camby said. "I just want to make sure that I'm right as we go down these last 30-plus games. So, you know, just take it day by day."

Asked whether sitting Camby every so often would be a viable option to keep the big man healthy for the stretch run, Nuggets coach George Karl shrugged it off, saying that line of thinking was "too philosophical for me."

Camby, who has missed just three games this season, did not participate in the shootaround, declaring himself a game-time decision. But he was ruled out more than an hour-and-a-half before the start. He admitted he recently has experienced nagging pain in the knee.

"It's been bothering me for a week and a half now. I've just been playing through it," Camby said. "I've been giving it up for the team the last couple of weeks. Everyone's been playing banged-up, though, so that's no excuse. But Monday (against Portland) is definitely a big game. So I'm just trying to get as healthy as possible."

From Rotowire:

Maggette (illness) is probable for Monday’s game at New York. The Clippers’ leading scorer has missed the past five games because of the flu. Los Angeles plays four games during Week 15, so it appears safe to put Maggette back into starting lineups.

Kaman (illness) is questionable against the Knicks on Monday. Kaman, third in the NBA in rebounding, has lost 10 pounds in the last seven days because of flu-like symptoms. He’s obviously feeling better, but still may miss another game. The Clippers play four times in Week 15.

More on Miller who is still questionnable but said he's optimistic to play Wednesday.

From article:

"Miller needed nine stitches in his right index finger after slicing it with a knife while doing dishes Sunday. He is questionable for Wednesday's game against Seattle as the Kings look to extend their season-high four-game winning streak.
The 7-foot center did not practice Monday, the same day he was named Western Conference Player of the Week. "It's the last time I help do dishes," Miller said.
He said he is optimistic about playing Wednesday, which would be advantageous to the Kings, considering Miller's recent contributions."

Nothing new on Camby , other than:

Center Marcus Camby, who has been resting a bruised left knee, sat out his second consecutive game Monday, leading Karl to wonder if he has played the center too much this season.

Camby, who has averaged 35.1 minutes per game in 2007-08, said the knee is "not getting better, it's not getting any worse."

Whenever Camby returns, expect Karl to be more cautious with how he is played.

"I think it's more of the wear and tear of an older player," Karl said. "There's sometimes a need in a season to rest the bones and get the tendons and ligaments a little healthier. Marcus' knee is sore, no question. Just because it's an important game, we don't want to get crazy and put him out for a longer period of time."

Butler left in the third after aggravating his hip flexor injury.

From the article:
"All-star forward Caron Butler, who missed three games with a strained left hip flexor before returning the lineup on Sunday, aggravated the injury late in the third quarter and was done for the night.
His status is unknown for Wednesday's game against San Antonio at Verizon Center, but it didn't look promising as Butler limped to the team bus after the game Tuesday night.
"It just locked up on me when I was running back on defense," said Butler, who has also been bothered by a sore right knee. "I couldn't go anymore."

Bryant dislocated little finger but said he will play tonight.

From the article:
Gasol's presence allowed the Lakers to get away with a season-low six points from Bryant, whose shooting was notably affected after he sustained a dislocated little finger on his right hand.
Bryant was trying to steal a pass in the second quarter when his finger was bent back on Jason Kidd's arm. He played the rest of the game with two fingers taped together. X-rays were negative, and he said he would play tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.
"Those players from the old school would look at me like a chump if I didn't play," said Bryant, who made three of 13 shots. "I'll get a call from MJ, I'll get a call from Harp. . . . You don't want those calls."

Miller a game-time decision.

From the article:
"Miller said he will be a game-time decision after missing a second practice Tuesday as the injury heals. He said he will determine this morning if he can play in the Kings' game tonight against Seattle at Arco Arena.
"They don't want me to pull the stitches and have it bleed all over," Miller said.
Coach Reggie Theus remained hopeful that his newly crowned Western Conference Player of the Week will be ready, and couldn't resist a little ribbing of his own.
"I just shook my head," Theus said. "Washing dishes? Are you kidding me? Couldn't you say something a little bit different?"
Added Miller: "Everybody thinks you should at least be gutting a deer or pig or something."

From Rotoworld: Brandon Roy is listed as doubtful for Friday's game against the Pistons. He left the team after Wednesday's game because of a family emergency, and coach Nate McMillan has not spoken with him since.

Martell Webster will start if Roy doesn't make it back in time for Friday's game. Roy should be considered day-to-day and benched until we know that he's back with the Blazers.

From Mike Barrett's official blog:

"Brandon Roy will not play tonight. I mentioned earlier that he left the team following the win over Chicago on Wednesday to be with an ill family member. Now, unfortunately, it can be termed a death in the family. That's all Brandon would like us to mention right now. Obviously, he is not with the team. He plans to rejoin the team in Indianapolis tomorrow night.
It marks the first time this season the Blazers won't have him in the starting lineup. Martell Webster, who came off the bench in the Chicago game, will move back into the starting lineup at the small forward spot, and Steve Blake and Jarrett Jack will start in the backcourt."

Brandon Roy did not travel with the Trail Blazers to Detroit and will miss tonight's game against the Pistons due to a death in the family. Because of the timing of the memorial service, Roy will also miss Saturday’s game with the Indiana Pacers. The Trail Blazers guard is expected to rejoin the team for Monday’s game versus the Houston Rockets.

Although the Washington Times is reporting last night's disappearing act by Daniels as being due to recurring knee issues, the Washington Post is saying otherwise:

Wizards point guard Antonio Daniels, who made his 33rd start in place of Arenas, left the game in the first quarter with what he called bone spurs in this right ankle and did not return. Daniels said the ankle has been a problem for several weeks and could be the result of him overcompensating while playing on a sore right knee.
Daniels missed eight games in December with a sprained right knee ligament. Asked whether he should take a few games off in order to allow the ankle to heel, Daniels said: "I can't. I can't. My team needs me out there, so I have to be out there."

In addition to Butler, three-time all-star Gilbert Arenas (knee) is still out and in the first quarter Friday, point guard Antonio Daniels was forced to leave the game because of a persistent problem with his right ankle and knee.

Neither Butler nor Daniels practiced yesterday and their availability for today's game will be a game-time decision. Daniels said after Friday's game that he would do everything he could to be in the lineup against the Suns

Dirk Nowitzki says his back felt fine after Monday's game, while Josh Howard was still having trouble even putting his shoes on.

"I won't know until Tuesday," Howard said when asked if he thought he'd be able to play Wednesday against Portland. "We've got a long plane ride. We'll see how it feels." Long plane rides are not good news for back injuries, so we're crossing our fingers for Howard. "It felt good," Nowitzki said of his trip to the locker room to stretch his back out during the game. "I didn't have any issues after that." Good news for Dirk, who should be fine for Wednesday.

Daniels and Butler

The good news for the Wizards (24-27) is that help could be on the way soon. Daniels, who has missed consecutive games with soreness in his right ankle, said the ankle is feeling "much better" and he could return Wednesday night when the team closes its four-game trip in Los Angeles against the Clippers.

Butler has missed the last five games with a strained left hip flexor but went through a workout Tuesday and will be a game-time decision.

If Butler doesn't play or experiences a setback, he may sit out Sunday's All-Star Game with the hopes of returning healthy after the break, which begins Thursday and ends Monday when the Wizards return to practice to prepare for Tuesday's home game against the New York Knicks.

Kobe Bryant's jammed his recently dislocated right pinkie finger during the second quarter of Wednesday's game. The finger began to swell, but X-rays taken came back negative.

Bryant's status for the All-Star game is in doubt, though Phil Jackson said that the Lakers would prefer if he does not play. He will see a hand specialist in Los Angeles on Thursday, and with any luck he'll be fine on the other side of the break.

Here was the story on ESPN's website at 9:17

"I would prefer to delay any surgical procedure until after our Lakers season, and this summer's Olympic Games. But this is an injury that myself and the Lakers medical staff will just have to continue to monitor on a day-to-day basis."

It was unclear if Bryant will play in Sunday's All-Star Game at New Orleans. But he will skip the 3-point shooting contest, with Dirk Nowitzki of Dallas replacing him.

More Kobe:

Kobe Bryant will either have to play in Sunday's All-Star Game or face a one-game suspension, despite having a serious finger injury that was revealed on Thursday.

According to NBA policy, any selectee who plays in his team's last game -- Bryant scored 29 in Wednesday's win in Minnesota -- has to play in the All-Star game or sit out his team's next game. Even though his pinkie injury was diagnosed as a ligament tear after Wednesday's game, Bryant is expected to play. He'll likely start and then sit out the rest of the game, but there's also a chance he could skip it altogether with the Lakers set to meet the lowly Hawks in their first game after the break.

Center Chris Kaman came down with a sore right shin and is listed as questionable tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies as the Clippers return from the All-Star break.

Kaman is still trying to regain an offensive rhythm after sitting out five games with flu and dropping about 15 pounds.

"It's hard because your teammates play a certain way without you and then you get back and they don't want to change," Kaman said. "They played pretty well in that stretch. It's tough coming back from anything when you are out that long."

Rotoworld's blurb on Roy is above, this is the source from the Oregonian . I guess they feel " questionable " and " game time decision " are teh same.

Roy questionable for Sonics

Quick mentioned this in his online chat earlier this afternoon, but in case you missed it ...

Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan said today that Brandon Roy is a game-time decision for Thursday night's matchup against Seattle because of a viral chest infection and a previously unreported ankle injury.

Roy showed up to the Blazers' practice facility today for the team's workout but was promptly ordered to return home and rest because his illness had noticeably worsened. Roy played through sickness against the Kings Tuesday night -- laboring through a 5-for-18 shooting performance to score 11 points -- and did not address the media afterward as team doctors examined him.

Roy also apparently suffered a mild ankle injury against Dallas in the Blazers' final game before the All-Star break. He did not show any effects during either of his All-Star game appearances, but the minor injury apparently is lingering.

Brandon Roy news :
Also, McMillan said he thought Brandon Roy would be able to play tonight against the Sonics. Roy, who was at today's shoot-around, missed practice yesterday because of a viral chest infection and minor right ankle injury and had been listed as a game-time decision.

Cassell played three minutes in the second half Wednesday. Dunleavy said it was because he wanted a sturdier defensive presence with Brevin Knight, but Cassell said he did not play much because he sprained his right wrist, when he landed on a camera on a third-quarter drive to the basket. Cassell said he was questionable for Friday's game against Utah.

Center Chris Kaman did not practice Thursday because of a sore right shin, but he is expected to play against Utah

My opinion: If you read the entire article it sounds like Cassell is dissappointed in not getting traded so I'm not sure how serious the injury is, or if it just no desire to play.
