"Everything is going great here. The ankle continues to get better day after day and I am surpassing difficulties. I started to shoot making specific movements and I keep going up the artificial mountain that I talked about in the last column that I uploaded. I am also working in the sand, run in the court and I keep the gym activities as usual. Everything very controlled and without hurry neither excess. Although the surgically intervened right ankle articulation it’s still very solid, I feel little pain and there is no inflammation. That means everything goes as planned.

Regarding my come back to the court, I hope it is by the end of November or the first days of December, but that will absolutely be up to coach Popovich to decide. I could feel great but maybe he doesn’t want to take any risks."

It is unclear if Suns forward Matt Barnes will rejoin the team this weekend after his fiancee gave birth to twins on Wednesday.
The twins were not expected until Thanksgiving, which explains Barnes' sudden departure prior to Wednesday night's game. The Suns play both Friday and Saturday, and we will update Barnes' status for those games as soon as we know. Grant Hill would start in Barnes' place if he missed any more time.

Deron Williams (sprained ankle) will miss Friday's game, is likely out Sunday as well, and could potentially miss the Jazz's upcoming five-game road trip.

Williams got a second opinion on his sprained ankle Thursday and was told that it's a "4-to-6 week injury," not the two-plus weeks he was told after he got hurt on October 18. Williams believes he's "ahead of schedule," but at this point it's unclear if he'll be able to return next week.

253 manger units will find this info interesting. While injuries/Game time decisions are never fun, I would imagine some owners are just waiting for a good reason to move him at 6+ mil, 25 pts a game and losing money....

Kevin Martin (sprained ankle) did not practice Friday and is considered a game-time decision for tonight's game against Minnesota.

Considering that the ankle sprain has been called "mild," we're guessing there's a decent chance Martin will play. Quincy Douby or Bobby Jackson would start in his place.

Someone should give him a sore right knee too after those two quick fouls last night.....grrrrr!!

Dwight Howard (sore left knee) missed practice on Friday, but will play on Saturday against the Wizards.

No cause for concern here. Howard has never missed an NBA game, and Stan Van Gundy said "We're just giving him a rest."

Deron Williams (ankle), who was originally listed as a game-time decision for the Oklahoma City game on Friday night, will now be out an additional one-to-three weeks, according to a Salt Lake Tribune report.
Analysis: A second opinion that Williams received on Thursday suggested that he shut it down for longer than initially planned. The Jazz will be on a five-game eastern road trip next week, so it doesn't look like Williams will be available until the Phoenix matchup on November 17 at the absolute earliest.

Tony Parker left Friday's game with a left ankle injury and went straight to the locker room. He will not return to the game and is expected to miss two weeks.
He needed assistance and this is terrible news for Parker's owners, although X-rays were negative. Roger Mason started, and should have even more value than he already did with Parker now shelved. If you have someone to cut, we'd recommend picking up Mason immediately. Desmon Farmer and George Hill will also see more minutes while Parker recovers.

Kenyon Martin sprained his left wrist in the second quarter on Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game.
Martin had an MRI on Saturday, but it showed no ligament or bone damage. If he can't play, the Nuggets could start Chris Andersen or Linas Kleiza at power forward. George Karl also said he could go "really small" and insert J.R. Smith in the starting five, moving Carmelo Anthony to PF. If you can get K-Mart out of your lineup, do so until further notice.

Tony Parker will miss four weeks after an MRI confirmed that the Spurs’ star guard has a grade 2 left ankle sprain.

Parker was injured during a 99-83 loss to the Miami Heat on Friday, two nights after scoring a career-high 55 points against the Timberwolves. He was driving for a layup when he rolled the ankle.

Parker, 26, was using crutches and was wearing a protective boot on his lower leg while watching practice Sunday.

Deron Williams (ankle), Andrei Kirilenko (finger), Mehmet Okur (personal) and Matt Harpring (ankle) will all sit out Utah's game on Saturday.
Harpring can't play in the second of back-to-back games but shouldn't be owned in many leagues anyway. Williams and Kirilenko are both questionable for Monday's game, while Okur is out indefinitely as he tends to his ailing father in Turkey. Utah's reserves will be in full effect tonight, but offer a modicum of temporary value.

WASHINGTON - This is a time when Dwyane Wade said you can believe the hype.

SALT LAKE CITY (Nov 20, 2008) – INJURY UPDATE!!!
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests conducted on Boozer’s left leg earlier today, confirmed that Boozer suffered a strain of the left quadriceps tendon.

Boozer will travel with the team, but is doubtful to play on the Jazz’s two-game road trip to San Antonio (11/21) and Memphis (11/22).

In addition, center Jarron Collins (inflamed right elbow) is out for Friday night’s game at San Antonio, while Brevin Knight (strained left abductor muscle), Kyle Korver (inflamed right wrist) and Deron Williams (left ankle inversion sprain) will each be gametime decisions. Matt Harpring (right ankle rehabilitation) and Mehmet Okur (lower back strain) are expected to play.

Bulls rookie Derrick Rose, who was 6-of-6 shooting in the fourth quarter, left the game with just over a minute left with an injury to his left side.
He had an icepack on his hip/abdominal area, but was in obvious pain. He blew up in the second half and finished with 25 points and five assists on 12-of-19 shooting. The good news is he didn't go to the locker room, but if it's abdominal strain, he could miss some games. Mike Dunleavy said recently that he's taken a "half-step" toward returning from his knee injury but there is still no timetable for his eventual return.

I wouldn't count on an immediate return, that article says he will be tested to see if he can begin practicing:

Indiana Pacers guard Mike Dunleavy could be taking a significant step toward his season debut as early as next week.

Dunleavy, who has not played this season because of bone spurs in his right knee, will undergo a test on the knee in the next week to 10 days to see if he is ready to start practicing.

"We're going to see how the next week or so goes," he said. "I have to pass some test in terms of on-court activities, and after that, hopefully, I'll be able to pick it up more and more."

Dunleavy, who missed only 11 games in his first six seasons, has been a spectator in the Pacers' first 18 games.

He attends every practice and game to get treatment on his knee. He spends significant time doing strength and conditioning work on his knee while his teammates practice. He then does on-court drills after practice.

According to Rotoworld sources, the Orlando Magic broadcast team said Tuesday night that Dwight Howard was treated for an oblique strain during a win over the Blazers.

He was suffering discomfort from the injury but played through it in the second half. We're guessing it is not serious or there would be more information about it coming out of Orlando. But it does offer and explanation for Howard's stat line (seven rebounds, no blocks) and is worth keeping an eye on. The Magic are off until Friday when they visit Phoenix.

Dwight Howard left Friday's game in the third quarter with a sore left knee and spoke in detail about it after the game.
"I made a move on (Robin) Lopez and I guess I came down the wrong way or something," he said. "I’m not going to play with any pains like this." He later added that he didn't think the injury was serious. "It’s none of my ligaments," he said. "Everything is fine. I’ll be all right." Consider him day-to-day and hope for the best. He's questionable for Saturday at Utah. -Rotoworld

Howard update: Howard missed most of the second half because of soreness Friday night in Phoenix. He came out for early warm-ups before the game against the Jazz, couldn't move laterally without pain and decided to sit after huddling with trainer Tom Smith and assistant coach Patrick Ewing.

Howard has had some irritation in the knee this season and sat out some practices, but General Manager Otis Smith said he doesn't believe the situation is serious. Smith said, though, that there was a possibility Howard could undergo his second MRI of the season on Tuesday after the Magic return.

Howard's knee has hurt off and on since he broke his left leg and had several screws inserted at the age of 15.

"It doesn't appear that C Dwight Howard (sore left knee) will play as the Magic expect to rest him to be ready for their next game — Thursday night's meeting against the San Antonio Spurs in Orlando. ... C Marcin Gortat is likely to start in Howard's place against the Warriors. ... "

Can someone please explain why players such as Arenas, Ellis, Dunleavy, etc... are being allowed to have their price gravitate downward when they haven't even played a game this season?

Wouldn't it have been better to place a hold on their starting prices until such time that they actually perform?

I suspect it's really inconsequential right now since none of those players are playing but since Arenas' price debuted at $8.77M, he's now down to $7.39M.

Now I can understand if a player is hurt during the season and his price spirals downward because they're may still be some owners with that player on their roster. But why allow the Arenas' of the world to fall to, say, $6M or so? Just doesn't make sense to me.

Re: 68

Just the way the game was designed. Carl Landry going up 20K doesn't make sense to me either, but hey whatever.

Also, this discussion is perfectly legitimate, but should probably be done in another thread.

not sure this is the right thread...and not sure what kind of assistance you want.

those are the rules of the game...and frankly, I can't think of any players that have seen their prices drop dramatically due to an off-season injury who have come back to be spectacular at a basement price.

Howard update: •So how is Superman's knee?

Dwight plans on playing — and dunking — on the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at Amway. An MRI on Howard's left knee Tuesday showed no damage.

Now Howard's not sure whether he'll play...

"The very fact that Howard said Wednesday he can't guarantee whether he'll play tonight — possibly missing his the third consecutive game — should give fans pause.

Howard said his left knee "isn't bothering me now," and the Magic front office appears more cautious than concerned. But the Magic's two-time all-star underwent an MRI on Tuesday, will begin wearing a knee brace and start having his practice time closely monitored until further notice or be held out of some practices altogether.

Howard participated in a limited workout on Wednesday, but wasn't sure he could face the San Antonio Spurs tonight at Amway Arena.

"Hopefully," Howard said. "It depends on how I feel." The club said Howard's MRI showed no damage, only arthritis or inflammation that has bothered him off and on this season. He already has been held out of several practices to give the knee a rest.

Howard was his upbeat self after Wednesday's workout, showing little worry and trying to pass off the soreness in his knee as "a bruise ... like when you bruise your elbow."

"It's not bothering me right now. It was good, actually," Howard said. "I don't think it's going to be a problem that will stop me from doing the things I do best. ... It's not chronic."

Van Gundy said Howard "looked fine" in practice, and added his injury is "nothing that can't be managed."

He has a plan in place to accommodate Howard's knee."

thats why it stopped at 49.0 last night:

Marquis Daniels left Wednesday's game in the second half with a sore neck.
Daniels would have likely had more than the 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals he posted before the injury. He says he'll be fine, but the neck problem does make him a bit of a question mark for Friday vs. the Clippers.
