RIHC Summary: Week 1

The first week of RIHC has seen much jockeying for position. There's been a very rough start for some teams. Guru has suffered worst, losing 1st pick Deron Williams to a severely sprained ankle just before the season started. His return is still somewhat hazy, but this is probably the only time we'll ever see Guru at the bottom of the heap in RIHC.

Manager of the week:

The award for fastest start has to go to S R, who is dominating in the early stages behind the strong play of Tony Parker and Josh Smith. Parker is currently ranked 4th overall in Yahoo, courtesy of his 55 point eruption in last night's 2OT thriller v Minnesota. Parker is averaging a godly 33 points and 7 assists on 56% FG and a hugley improved 89% from the line. He's basically making a mockery of his pre-season Yahoo ranking of 82.

Smith's ranking of 5th overall compared to his projection of 25th has also given SR a huge week 1 boost. Smoove is averaging over 6 combined blocks and steals per game, and only seems to be disappointing slightly in his shooting cats of 41% FG and a meagre 57% from the line.

In addition to his 2 studs, S R also has another 4 players in the top 50 Yahoo averages, blostering his hot start. Brandon Roy, Spencer Hawes, Al Jefferson and FA Nick Young have all started off very well. Well done S R on a great start. All you have to do is keep it up, now!

Who's Hot?
Which players are hugely outperforming their pre-season rankings? Here's who's hot in Week 1:

Nate Robinson, PG/SG, NYK - 13th (178th) - Nate seems a perfect fit for Mike D'Anotoni's high-octane offense. 3s, %s and a bit of everything else to go with it.
Anthony Carter, PG, DEN - 14th (170th) - Carter has had a fast start to the season, but his value could be in jeopardy with Big Shot Billups now in town to swipe most of the PG minutes.
Roger Mason, PG,SG, SAN - 21st (169th) - Manu's injury opened the door for Mason, and he's capitalised by knocking down 9 treys in 4 games, and by shooting lights from the field (60%) and the line (8-8).
Tayshaun Prince, SF, DET - 23rd (158th) - Prince's usual steady all-round production had a big boost this week, but how will the trade winds in Detroit affect him?

Swish's Stat
Dwight Howard leads the league in blocks (4.5) and rebounds (14.5) by a huge margin, but has the most negatively impacting FT% in the league, hitting only 47% of his 11 FTA.

I don't know what folks think of this format? I'm very open to suggestions! I didn't want to go into too much detail until i got some opinions. I do plan to do the writeup every week if i can.
