I don't have enough cash to get Paul from Wade straight up. The only player I don't mind moving is Shaq, who is about the last player in the league I can see benefiting from playing in a "breakneck" pace, I am thinking of moving him to Foye which allows me to get Paul from Wade, what do you guys think?

I think I'd do that if it were my only way into Paul.
I'm still trying to figure out what to do about Shaq. I kept hoping Amare would be traded or that he'd go back to averaging upper 30s but I'm not so sure either is happening now. At the same time, that schedule is amazing and it would be a shame to trade him only to watch Amare get moved and / or Shaq start going off again. I should probably at least give him another chance tonight.

Interloper alert!
Given the schedule and Al Gentry's comments about a return to fast-paced play, isn't a trade to Amare a nice, speculative pick right now? He's $8.8m and if, as it seems, he is not going to be traded and the Suns are going to restore the uptempo style, couldn't he put up big numbers almost immediately?
I'm also struggling with what do with with Shaq at the moment, btw.

It is an intriguing idea, it's just hard to evaluate. If Amare throws up a 45 tonight, is it a result of Gentry or is it one of those fluke games that made him seem like an option (with "must have" even thrown around) several weeks ago.
I think I have to hold still with Shaq tonight. I would rather have a cheaper player in that slot, but with the trade deadline coming up, taking a seemingly good option tonight could turn terrible or could mean missing out on a great one tomorrow. Plus so many teams are playing tonight, an injury could create a must have.
Really wish I could undo that Lee to Shaq move right now. If Paul hadn't gone down I would have absolutely needed the money freed up from that one.

So, Granger was probably going to be my return to Wade...guess that's not happening. And of course no back to backs to fill the gap. There are a lot of forwards I'd like to buy, but due to not having any other GF's it would have to be a guard.
Off the top of my head it looks like my two best options are taking Durant early and just holding through the rough patch or taking Deron early. Either way, my return to Wade is pretty much ruined and someone good is going to have to get sacrificed.

Alright, issue #1 A. Deron B. Durant It basically comes down to 4 Deron vs. 3 Durant and 1 Odom. To complete my full set of rotations, I only have a 0.02 window (assuming I hold Shaq). With everyone talking about continuing to sell Durant, taking Durant would probably mean this window closes.
Issue #2 A. Hold Shaq B. Shaq to Yao tonight Do I finally bail? Shaq's slot essentially would be replaced by a cheap F or C at the end of the week. Doing this would certainly give me more money flexibility down the road. But on the other hand, is there going to be a cheap F or C that I really want to lock in at the end of the week (in addition to the one I'll likely be locking in from Diaw?). And it's not too long ago that all of Shaq's averages were at 39 or so. If this mini-slump passes, he could be a fantastic hold with that schedule.
Any thoughts?

Pretty sure I'm holding Shaq at the moment, if he needs to go / I need the money I can essentially do that at the end of the week without losing much of anything. Maybe I'm being too stubborn but meh.
This Durant vs. Deron thing seems much harder. And then there is (I can't believe I'm saying it) the option of Kidd instead, but that would 100% force me to sell Shaq and mean no Deron ever.

This Brooks vs. Barbosa thing is giving me headaches...I really don't know anything about Brooks whatsoever, that's part of the problem.
If I take Brooks, at current prices I have a really nice rotation planned. However I only have a 60k window for it, and I don't think I can say with any certainty whatsoever that I'm going to make it. There is really no good plan B, the most reasonable one seems to be dropping all the way down from "almost getting expensive player" to "taking Matt Barnes". Which isn't too big of a deal because I'd need a cheap forward a week later anyway.
If I take Barbosa, I obviously have no shot of hitting my rotation whatsoever. I will also be forced to lock in Barnes in a few days as well. About a week into March it would seem I'd probably have to downgrade Barbosa to a 1.5 or so player, but it's hard to evaluate if this is actually an "extra trade" since Brooks has no clear sell date.
Does anyone have any opinions on Barbosa vs. Brooks? On if Barnes is someone we can comfortably lock in?

It kind of reminds me of the infamous Joe Johnson vs. Barbosa decision years ago right after the Suns traded Marbury. Johnson was 2 million more than Barbosa and both were coming off a great game. Johnson went on to be great all year, Barbosa hovered around 20 and became a sell. Guess who I took?
Who knows which is the right pick though this time around. I'm realizing now that I can't even get that player I really want without sacrificing another move a week later. And things change nightly it seems (yesterday Sessions was going to be held for two more weeks), so I don't even know if these projected rotations are remotely accurate.
I have a feeling I'll be sitting here until 11.

Sadly no, not lately, but it feels like there are certain players that I need to hit on or near certain dates. It's strange though, I remember a couple years ago I'd do a lot more long-term planning and game to game comparisons with different averages, this year seems to be more on the fly.
I still have no idea which guy to take.

Yeah I ended up going with Barbosa. I didn't want to see him drop 60 tomorrow while seeing Brooks on my team struggle to crack 20. (Easily could happen the other way around). I came to the conclusion that there was pretty much no way the window for my big rotation was going to hold so I decided to go for it, Phoenix seems like they're pretty intent on running.

I just realized I screwed up big. Since I was planning all along to have sold Murphy for Yao (and to a degree Diaw for Barnes), when I changed my mind on that I didn't think to move Deron for Kobe when I could have two days ago. Now that Barnes isn't an option, it would make sense to hold Diaw since has has two games to one over someone I'm keeping my eye on. Problem is...now I'm 0.07 short for doing Deron to Kobe. Holy crap this sucks. If I sacrificed Diaw, then it would work out to two trades for 2 Kobe games but minus one cheapie game (and it's Diaw vs. GSW and LAC, so those cheapie games could be monsters).
So basically, I can't buy Kobe now. I'm mortified.

Okay, I have a backup plan.
I could either do nothing, or use a trade that will either get me:
1 odom, 1 yao vs. 1 murphy
1 shaq, 1 yao vs. 1 murphy
(depending on what I decide to do in a couple days, it would come down to one or the other pretty much).
So basically, if you assume Odom, Shaq, and Murphy are equal, it's a trade for a Yao game and what seems to be a really big money swing given all players involved.
Any thoughts on if this is worth it? It's really hard to gauge right now. I'm going to go for a run and hopefully afterwards it'll be more clear, but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea what I'm doing anymore, I've completely botched this week and I can't blame the Spurs for it.

Haha, I could have, that's the infuriating part. And now I realized what I just posted is completely wrong because I invented a few million in my head and I can't do that.
My two real options are:
A) Do nothing B) Use two trades for (2 Gasol and 1 Odom vs. 1 Murphy) or (2 Gasol and 1 Shaq vs. 1 Murphy) and the big price swing.
Gasol has been a beast but for some reason I've historically had trouble trusting him. I'm wondering if I should go for it.

Yeah, last night I looked at the standings for that and realized I'm really close to falling behind. I'd hate to split off a team though that focuses primarily on that though. I should have bought more teams finally (or at least an even number for my sanity), but I thought this year was the year this game would take a backseat to other things since I started a band and wasn't expecting to have much time playing shows out in the city. Don't have enough money to get Yao, unless I downgrade Odom or Diaw today and move Durant. Diaw to Battier is an option I guess, but one I am not thrilled about whatsoever. Odom to Horford is an option too I guess, and I hate that also. There's nothing that indicates Durant is going to be out long, so Jeff Green may not be the best buy with the somewhat light schedule.
I honestly have no idea what to do, every possible plan makes me cringe and has me taking on a player I don't want. To make things more complicated we don't know if Duncan is playing tomorrow. I'm very close to just doing Durant to Shaq and accepting the fact that I needlessly threw away 60 points and two trades and just moving on (only to see Shaq go back to averaging 25).

I think I figured out what I'm doing. I don't want to trade Odom yet as any option this week is pretty much significantly worse than he is, and I don't want to trade Diaw down for a player I don't want / for a cheap spot I'm not going to need tomorrow after Howard comes off the books. Probably not worth bending over backwards to force a guy who's been struggling to average 40.
This move is going to have some risk to it so I'm tempted to split off my teams, but all the numbers show it as clearly being the best option (and look what that did for me yesterday...) so I'm not going to. Besides, I don't think you guys are ready for me to start complaining about three teams as opposed to one just yet. That party will begin soon.
In my twelve years of playing this game, I think last night may have been the single most devastating move from every standpoint possible. This is my new "Lebron to Duncan" and new "Lebron to Webber." You will be hearing about this for years, just warning you all ;)

Kind of wish I had moved Odom for Scola right now, but oh well. I didn't want to miss an Odom explosion and didn't want to see Landry start cutting into Scola's minutes once I had him.
So today's issue - I have to take two front court players, one of them being a center since I sold Shaq.
Duncan of course plays later than the other options. Even if he does play, do you guys think he's buyable at this point?
Yao is another option, but he really hasn't been living up to his price tag lately.

I think I've narrowed it down to two options. I pretty much just have to determine whether or not Yao is skippable.

So, it's time for the annual "Lebron injures himself in a game, stays in and does amazingly, and then becomes questionable" party. Luckily rotoworld has him as probable now, but I don't trust the Cleveland coaching staff one bit.

Moved up to 3rd place. Yesterday we had 4 of the top 5 scores. We are also leading the current TP. Keep the points coming.

Blew all my plans yesterday by missing my buy in plans. Too much other stuff going on and even forgot to run the spreadsheet... Have to regroup and establish new plan D...

We've had 5 posts since the start of the month. Does anyone still need these daily standings posts? Bueller...?

Usually the GMD posts drop near the end of the year, but I think all of the injuries and inexplicable under-performing of almost everyone have even moreso killed a lot of the planning posts that typically are in here. It feels impossible to come up with different options right now when everyone's status is up in the air. I've been glued to the computer making a futile attempt to do so regardless, and each night it's gotten completely invalidated by a surprise DNP or a last minute DNP announcement or an injury mid game or news that a few players are questionable for their games a day or two later.

Last week my trades in mostly used on in and out those reandom DNP players. I still ready the board/standing everydays but think there is no point to plan ahead.
Hopefully Wade will play today and only leave Lee to deal with.

Since google introduced google docs, I've been doing all of my planning in there. This gives the added bonus of progressively seeing how everything goes wrong. Five days ago I was supposed to have 9 trades today as opposed to 4. I was also planning on using those 5 trades to gain points, as opposed to using each one to somehow lose them.
I'm second guessing my split second decision to sell Lee for Dwight right now. I saw Lee was out less than five minutes before gametime and figured at this point in the season I had to make that move. It seems as if Lee's probable for tomorrow so I should probably hold onto him on the team that I have him. The Hughes injury is probably the most devastating one, given his price and GF eligibility. My plans would have shattered the position switch / day record, now I have no idea what to do. There's just no way to plan when half of your roster has been questionable.

Ugh. I've been monitoring all the talk about the drag this season has become and I hit the same wall every year. I did it again this year and it occurred well before this latest rash of DNPs... of course, just as I'm convincing myself to get off my tuchis and get my head back in the game, I walk right into a DNP landmine. Several, actually, as did most of us...
My end game sail is pretty deflated because I had counted on making more of a push at this point and I don't see a ton of progress available now that my trade wad is mostly spent.
Glad that Lee played tonight but holding Rip Hamilton was perhaps of of the top three worst conscious decisions I've made all season.
Nice job to all getting us out of 4th place. Good luck to SU and hope that everyone gets as high in the standings as possible... myself included! :)

For some reason I don't feel the drag as the season's coming to an end. I'm actually kind of sad to see the season winding down and I'm checking scores and injury status just as enthusiastically as first day of the season. Under some rumblings of this being the last season of the ultimate game, I am playing this game everyday as if it were my last. (cliche!)
BTW, going Howard > Pau today

a little OT: I'm in a divisional race that can't be any tighter. I'm currently leading the second place team by 87pts, but he has Odom and Deron going tonight where I have none, and we are both tradeless, so it's a virtual tie going into the final day. Differentiation is already high with only 4 common players right now. I've never been in any meaningful races this late in the season so it's been great fun (and agony) lately.

Sounds like fun. I've essentially been locked into 2nd place for a week (I still blame Injury-Gate!) so your matchup sounds great.
I'm in a race to the finish for first in my head to head league and it'll all come down to starting and/or sitting the right players tonight...
Good luck to all!

lead is now down to 9.5pts, and I have to move at least 3 guys in Paul, Lebron and Hawes. It's gonna be fun.
