I shot an email to TSN and got this reply...
Yes, it should launch some time after the hockey games.

Are they allowing trades to be purchased in the Ultimate Game? (I sure hope not.) If so, is there a way of seeing how many trades a team has purchased for purposes of ridiculing them?

Crap, it's back. I'm actually thinking of sitting this out. Realistically, I'll have three teams by the end of the weekend.
What are the major differences with the interface? I overheard one of my coworkers who plays TSN football complaining about a ton of glitches.

I wouldn't call that a major difference from past years. :)
I have a few billion tokens so I'll probably buy a 3 pack again this year. Can't wait to be in 3 divisions that all contain Blooki and Maxiroxx.

How are prices looking so far? Similar to last year?

Some issues with the interface:
First off on the players page its gives cumulative stats: I ahve no idea what it means that Chris Paul had 860 assists alst year. These should be averages. Also the TSNP column is blank and they have had issues with that in fooball this year. There is no TSNP/game column or a way to short by period. Pretty much worthless.
Also the schedule analyzer is way to short of a time frame currently.
The player pages are worthless(altho a nice popout tab so doesnt bring you to a new page). They dont incule past games scores or stats. just the final team scores. Doesnt include YTD, 30 day averages etc either.
I am sure there are others.
However in terms of buying and selling players and viewing price movers the interface is sound. if you rely on this site to view your stats and then just go there for to make moves it is fine. If you are like me and do most your research on their site, then you may want to learn this site.

Prices seem similar to last year. i was surprised there wasnt a bigger gap between the big 4 and the rest of the guys. james 12.20, Howard 10.8 other two in between. Kobe and amare are also over 10. West is the 20th most expensive at 8.6

Season is still weeks away and already the TSN laments have begun....lol!!
Apparently, TSN hoops is the game we love to hate. Fortunately for TSN, as dpr notes, Rotoguru.com greatly enhances Ultimate (and Basic) Hoops' playability. I'm still not sure why they don't just put Guru on the payroll and have him fix their whole operation. Oh wait. That's right. Because they really do a fine job with fantasy as they've proven year after year.

The circle of life...
When I started producing stats for the TSN games 12 years ago, their interface was OK for trading, but very limited in ability to provide anything for analysis. If I wanted to do any sort of statistical analysis, I had to build it myself.
Over the ensuing years, TSN gradually added more and more analytical support - much of it in response to what I had been doing. I began to wonder if it was worthwhile to continue to produce my stats reports, as they had become largely duplicative. But I kept on plugging away, because I was used to my formats, and knew that some others were as well.
Suddenly, TSN has reverted back to the olden days of producing a functional trading interface, with only very limited statistical support. Eventually, I'm sure they'll be showing TSNP in some sortable format - although probably for the full year only. RotoHog's own games have been notably poor in the statistical data provided, and it appears that the TSN games will once again provide only the bare minimum as well.
Guess I'd better stay in business.

I have sortable stats and player pages now loaded with 2009-10 prices, positions, and schedules.
Sortable stats include preseason games. If you want to use last year's regular season stats, you have that as an option.
Projection capabilities are for the regular season schedule only.
Please take a test drive and let me know if you see any apparent glitches.

FWIW, the schedule analyzer at the TSN site is a direct clone of this 4-week NBA Schedule generator.
TSN used to publicly acknowledge that they based their version off of mine, but that seems to have been omitted now. In any event, their version is more limited in length, and start date. Other than that, all they did was flip the rows and columns.
If you ever found it useful, then you should find my version to be more useful.

Thanks Guru. I use most of your tools, the only thing that I use at TSN is that Analyzer, it might sound stupid but their clone( I am aware they cloned it from yours),the teams/dates are switched, and with their old one, I could just fit all the info on one page without having to scroll to see lets say Washington,as I said it may sound stupid, but I've grown used to that.

On that note: Last year I know someone had a printable version (with all teams fitting on one page) of the entire season that they shared. If any one has one for this year that would be great.

I have the color-coded schedule grid in a spreadsheet, oriented in both directions (one sheet vertical, one sheet horizontal). You can probably manipulate one of those sheets to fit a page as desired.

Tokens were all converted to "credits". If you buy a team and you would have had ample tokens to fund it, you should see a cash credit applied to produce a net cost of zero.
Having said that, I have no idea how you can check on the amount of the credit balance in your account.

Hoops is back, oh yes. A few comments:
- I never used any of of the TSN tools. I always used (and will use) Rotoguru's.
- I already love and hate the new layout.
- I already know that I will be tradeless in week 2.
- I am happy to see so many old faces around here (old as in "having played for almost a decade now).
- As always, my thanks to Deejay for the invitation to the Ultimate Boards League.
...and finally, yes, the trade buying scared me too at first. Thank God it's disabled for the league we play in.
Good luck all.
Dallas will win this year. Hopefully.

Sorry I don't think I see how credits can be used. They continue to say that credits will be switched after baseball and golf seasons but NBA gets underway before that. Finally just bought my teams, I'm officially sucked in again. Some thoughts on the new interface:
- Holy crap, we can finally put up a team picture. I like this a lot.
- Is it just me or is last minute trading going to be harder now? I don't see any page or drop down that lets you quickly toggle between teams. Is going through the front office tab the only way?

I'm not a multiple-team guy, but definitely think last minute trades will be harder for another reason...you have to release a player before you buy another, so no selling someone directly for a player...which is somewhat frustrating since you can't know for sure whether the player you are buying is frozen or not.
