Okay all, with RIHC leagues forming and baseball finally nearing an end, it's time to get geared up for the 8th season of G20 Hoops!! As always, there are a dozen little things to do, but first and foremost, we need to get confirmations on who is returning to the league for this season! Please post as to whether or not you are returning.

Life happens, PR. He just can't participate this year. So yes, I will Commish and Tosh and Guru are there as backups. I will not have the attention to detail that Ref has shown historically, so we will need to be flexible. For example, I am on vacation during 5 days or so of the draft. That will leave me without access for blocks of hours at a time. We will need to police ourselves in Ref's stead because I will not be able to do it.
Several people have or will have my cell for text/phone updates/questions/etc, but the fact of the matter is that with my intermittent access leaving me unable to crack the whip on the draft clock, I believe it would be in our best interests to start early and probably allow for more lenient per pick and cumulative clocks. That would make Ref turn over in his fantasy grave, but I am not sure of any better alternatives. Of course, having more lenient per pick and cumulative clocks would need to be agreed upon by vote of the league.
For our 20th player, what about seeing if BJis21 wants back in?
Any league member can nominate someone to play. Obviously returning players who weren't kicked out for being inactive jackasses would have a high priority. With interest in trades and the depth of this league, this is something I would like to resolve ASAP!

We need to run the draft lottery. I will get the standings posted correctly and request that Guru run it as usual.
Slackjawed Yokel has not responded to my email. I propose to give him until Sunday to do so, but that may be too much slack (pun intended) if we have keepers due by next Thursday (16th). DaveR has volunteered to step in, and Slizz/GO have a candidate as well. I'll drop BJ21 an email as well.
Next order of business is Keeper and draft dates.
Last year we had keeper date of Saturday October 18th and the draft officially started on Sun 10/19. The season began on 10/28 last year. This year it starts on 10/27.
So tentatively I propose:
Keepers would be due on Thursday 10/15. Time TBA. Thread in this forum. Draft may open up Friday 10/16 but the clock wouldn't start until Saturday afternoon 10/17. Threads in Standings Forum.

In consideration of commish load and time issues, I'd like to express my unbridled enthusiasm for using Kafenatid this year. Perhaps some of the "unclaimed" prize pool money could cover the fee? We certainly have money in the treasury to cover a kafenatid draft.
I'll volunteer to honcho the draft at kafenatid - load up keepers, serve as a DP, etc. That seems like a better approach than using the forum.
If our usual timing standards are met, the draft should only take about 5-6 days.

I am fully in favor of using kafenatid for our draft. Assuming that I can use my iphone for making picks (I am away from the computer during the days of October 17-18)
The biggest problem is logging all the trades into the kafenatid system prior to its start.

I'm getting the lottery spreadsheet prepared.
2 questions:
Who finished 15th last year? The opening post is missing any team in 15th.
Typically, the lottery is for teams ranked 7-20. Last year, two teams were tied for 6th. How do we adjust for that?
a) neither team is in the lottery
b) flip a coin, and put the winner in the lottery
c) both are in the lottery, sharing the selection probability for that slot. (unfortunately, there are an odd number of "ping pong balls" assigned to the 7th place team, so we'd still need a coin flip to assign the odd chance.

Okay, the above should be accurate, but please double check your own picks. The grid above should be final after both the lottery and the coin flip between bmd and PP for the 14th/15th slots.
By my understanding of the conditional picks, none of the conditions were met (Guru winning lottery) so I think the trade stands.

Can someone without commissioner abilities try this link to see if it works:

I have offered to honcho the draft, and Species has accepted my offer, given his schedule difficulties and occasional forum blockages.
So here is my plan:
1. Keepers are due by 3PM ET (noon PT) Saturday, Oct 17. I will set up a separate thread for you to post your keepers.
2. You must also register for the draft at kafenatid.net by the keeper deadline. This is essential, as I must input keepers and draft picks trades before we start the draft, but I cannot do that until all managers are signed up.
3. The draft will start on an untimed basis as soon as I can get kafenatid set up. This will probably be some time on Sunday.
4. The draft clock will start on Monday morning. We will try to adhere to similar timing standards as in previous years, although kafenatid cannot monitor a cumulative clock limitation. I can try to do that manually, however, if needed.
Given prior RIHC drafts, I would expect the draft to require 5-6 days. That should complete the draft by next Friday or Saturday.

I would only plan to impose a cumulative clock limit if a manager has been chronically tardy and we need to move ahead. I certainly do not plan to track cumulative clocks for everyone.

I know Ref would want to keep the "spirit" of the G20 leagues -- high attention, high participation, high standards -- up by continuing to have us use the tight per-pick and cumulative clocks. So long as there are no objections to having it be more objective per Guru in posts 126 and 128, then I am game. Just no bitching if you are the person called out - and with my schedule this weekend, that includes myself!!

Frick - to change your email, I think you have to change your email address for the master ESPN account.
Click on your name in the extreme upper right of the screen. Then click on the "Edit Profile" tab. Your email address is at the bottom of that page, where you should be able to change it.

Although we will be using kafenatid for the draft itself, we'll try to keep ESPN updated as well, so that you can screen through the universe of available players.
