doing a little reading on Yahoo Sports and this Arenas thing could be ugly for him. A few pieces from the article by By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports:
The D.C. police issued a statement on Wednesday saying they were assisting the U.S. Attorney’s Office in a joint investigation into “an allegation that weapons were located inside a locker room at the Verizon Center.” The district has stringent gun laws that prohibit the carrying of weapons, openly or concealed.
The NBA is expected to wait to see if the law enforcement agencies file charges before the league acts.
Several league sources believe NBA commissioner David Stern ultimately will mete out stiff penalties in the matter.
The Wizards are active in trade talks with multiple teams, league sources said, and willing to trade any player on their roster.
Hopefully this doesn't become another P. Burress situation. I am surprised Arenas isn't just suspended now by the league or the team. I don't recall the NFL waiting for law enforcement to make their decisions but I could be misremembering.

The disagreement between Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton reportedly began on a team flight on December 19th, during a card game. Arenas owed Crittenton $25,000, and when things got heated again in the team's locker room, he "placed three guns he owns on a chair near Crittenton's locker stall and invited him to pick one...sources said that Crittenton subsequently let Arenas know that he had his own gun." The more details surface, the worse things look for Arenas. He faces penalties on at least four levels -- federal, the District of Columbia, the NBA, and the Wizards (who could terminate his contract if he's guilty of a felony). Source: NBA.com (Rotoworld)

Erick Dampier missed Sunday's game due to a left knee effusion, and Drew Gooden started in his place. A left knee effusion means that there's fluid in his knee that shouldn't be there, and until we hear otherwise we're calling him questionable for the week. If he's able to play sooner it will be great news, but given his size and age we're looking at things conservatively. Source: Dallas Morning News

I can't believe I'm quoting TMZ, but they have some additional news on Arenas.
"A plan is in place to convene a grand jury to determine if NBA star Gilbert Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton will be charged with crimes for their alleged Xmas eve locker room gun-toting showdown ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
As for their interview with cops, a rep for the U.S. Attorney's office is present and the case could go to the grand jury as early as today."
I could be wrong about this, but I'm working under the assumption that the NBA will take action once an indictment is filed, which appears will happen in the next couple days.

Kevin Love suffered a knee-on-knee injury with Corey Maggette Wednesday and had to be helped to the locker room with a left knee injury. Remarkably, he returned very late to finish the game (and was then poked in the eye), but was still clearly in pain. It's probably nothing more than a bruise, but it is likely of the deep variety and we're guessing he's listed as day-to-day. He finished with 23 points, 16 boards and six assists in the loss, and proved just how tough he truly is. Jan. 6 - 10:35 pm et

Wade Game Time Decision
OAKLAND, Calif. - Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade said Wednesday he will wait until pregame warm-ups at Oracle Arena to determine whether he will play Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors.
Wade sprained his right wrist during Monday's loss to the Utah Jazz and has taken treatment the past two days. He did not shoot during Wednesday morning's practice at a health club at the team hotel in San Francisco.
"When I get over to the arena, we'll make sure that my wrist is fine," he said.
X-rays taken Monday came back negative.
"There's no swelling, just soreness," Wade said Wednesday.

An MRI Thursday confirmed that Brandon Roy has a strained right hamstring. He remains questionable for Friday's game against the Magic. The good news is that the MRI revealed no tears. But the bad news is it's still a strained hamstring, which doesn't heal without rest. Roy is still considered questionable for Friday, but he sounded very concerned about the injury Wednesday night, so don't be surprised if he misses a game or two to let the hamstring heal. Stay tuned. Source: Yahoo! Sports

Re 33: It all depends on the make up of your team, how many injured players you have and how many games your team is ahead or behind. I am holding until the league makes a final decision.
Best case scenario is a 20 game suspension. If that is the case he might be worth hanging on to for the remaining 30 games. He averaged 25 pts 2.5 threes 1.4 steals and 7.6 assists during December. I would be hard pressed to find anything close to that kind of production on the waiver wire.
Worst case could be the rest of the season or maybe part of next season as well, now that he is facing jail time.
I am waiting a couple of more weeks before dumping him.

Not and Injury, but... Omri Casspi is unhappy with his diminished role now that Kevin Martin is back and got into a heated argument with coach Paul Westphal when he was pulled from Friday's game. "I think Omri is super-competitive, and we want players who are super-competitive, but we've got to control our emotions, too," Westphal said. "You have to focus your fight towards the other team and do as well as you can and make the most of your playing time." 33 & 35 Arenas's sentencing hearing isn't until March 26. His suspension has to last at least until then. With only three weeks of the season remaining after that, I can't see David Stern saying "Gil, you've just been sentenced to prison time for a felony, but I'll let you finish out the season until it's time for you to actually serve."
There's no way he's playing this season. Dump him.

Gerald Wallace missed practice on Tuesday due to his left ankle injury and will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game, at least as of now. Beat writer Rick Bonnell suggests that his injury is "more than a left ankle sprain," although we're also wondering if the word "nothing" is missing from that sentence. Either way, Wallace is concerned about the injury and his status for Wednesday against the Heat is up in the air. Hopefully the swelling is minimal and he's ready to go on Wednesday, but we aren't likely to know until just before tip off. Source: Charlotte Observer

Felton sprained his right ankle in the first quarter of Friday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks, and Wallace aggravated a left ankle sprain he suffered earlier in the week. The Brew Hoop blog lists Delfino as a probable starter, and though there hasn't been any other official word on his status, we're assuming that no news is good news -- especially since he walked off the court under his own power on Tuesday. Michael Beasley (hyperextended knee) says he'll be ready to play against the Pistons on Friday. Beasley came down awkwardly in the first quarter on Wednesday, but had this to say after the game: "It’s scary, especially when I first did it," Beasley said. "I got the ice on it, it’s a little sore right now but I can run and jump so I should be ready for the next one." We'll believe Beasley for now, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Heat play it safe with him.

Beasley said he is hopeful of a return for Friday's game in Detroit.
"I can run. I can jump. I should be ready for the next game," he said, with minimal swelling after Wednesday's game.
But when the second-year forward returned briefly in the second quarter, he recognized things weren't right.
"I was a half-step late on everything," he said. "I really didn't want to go into the second half not 100 percent."
Spoelstra said there was no reason to risk aggravating the ailment.
"You could see that he wasn't really running or moving the right way," he said. "At least right now, it doesn't look like it's too severe."

News: Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said that Michael Beasley (hyperextended knee) will be a game-time decision, "if not doubtful" for Friday's game against the Pistons. Impact: It sounds like the Heat are going to play it safe and hold Beasley out Friday. Udonis Haslem, who had 16 points and 11 boards in 39 minutes after Beasley went down on Wednesday, would start. The good news is that Beasley did not have any swelling and he's not scheduled for an MRI.

Carlos Boozer will not play on Friday after an MRI revealed a moderate muscle strain in his right calf. Boozer is listed as day-to-day for now and will be re-evaluated on Monday. "Not as bad as it could have been," Boozer said on Friday. Boozer isn't putting any weight on his right leg and we're tentatively expecting him to be out at least a week. Paul Millsap is a must start while Boozer is down. Source: Deseret News (DonBest has him out 7-10 days)

News: Chris Paul injured his knee during the final seconds of the regulation Friday night and ended up leaving the game in overtime. Impact: Paul was trying to chase down an errant pass from David West to ice the game and appeared to land awkwardly on his knee. He was limping badly but still came out to start overtime. Once he proved he couldn't move and was playing on one leg, he was taken out of the game. Owners can only hold their breath as we wait for an update.

Rotoworld's report on Paul is very misleading. They don't tell you that the injury is a bruise, not a sprain or hyperextension. While he's listed as questionable for tomorrow my best guess is he misses one game at most but maybe I shouldn't speculate. Here's a game account:

You can see the play where he got hurt on NBA.com. Paul was in the game at the very end. http://www.nba.com/games/20100129/CHINOH/gameinfo.html?ls=gt2hp0020900683

Dwyane Wade shot just 6-of-20 from the field on Saturday as his back was tightening up throughout the game. He landed awkwardly in the first quarter and appeared to aggravate his sore back, but wound up playing 31 minutes for the short-handed Heat. It doesn't sound like he's a risk to miss Wednesday's game but it never hurts to double-check. Jan. 31 - 12:14 am et Source: Miami Herald

Got to love the Rotoworld reports sometimes. First of all they have corrected it now to " iffy " for Monday, not Wed. But I watched the game, and I'm not disputing his back might be an issue, but he was in foul trouble most of the game. He pick up his 4th and 5th in the 3rd and was out for quite a while.
As far as the Miami Herald, I didn't scan the entire paper, but the game article reports this:
D. WADE'S DOINGS: Wade missed six of his first nine shots and then came down awkwardly in the lane with five minutes left in the first quarter and grabbed his sore back. That was all you needed to know about how, when and why his night went so wrong against the Bucks. He was clearly frustrated, and it showed in two offensive fouls when he simply bullied his way through a defender. He nearly knocked Charlie Bell out on one play midway through the game, and shot a glare down at Bell like Ali did over Liston. Between Wade's back, his fouls and his off shooting touch, this was is one he won't soon forget. Wade picked up his eight technical foul of the season when he yelled at a referee to "call the damn foul" on a play when he was hacked by Bell and lost the ball. Wade didn't go far enough to get fined. But he was clearly fuming. He finished 6 of 20 from the field, including 0 of 6 from three-point range, and had 21 points, seven assists, five fouls and four turnovers in 31 minutes. Expect him to try to hang 50 on the Bucks Monday in Miami.
So, maybe he won't play Monday, I don't know, but no where did I see anything about him being "iffy" and hopefully, he will " hang 50 " on the bucks, Monday.

I watched the Heat game and didn't notice Wade being injured at all. He picked up his 5th foul mid way through the 3rd quarter and then went to the bench. He came back with around 6 minutes left in the game and pretty much made all the plays in the offensive end afterwards. Sure he missed some shots in the 4th quarter, some 3 pointers near the end of the game that could bring the Heat back, but also drove the lane for a furious dunk as well. FWIW he looks alright to me.

Rotoworld's Tyreke report isn't accurate either. He left the game with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and the Kings down by 14. The lead was built as high as 26, then the Kings made the score respectable with Tyreke on the bench. I hope he stayed out because the team was doing well without him.

(Evans): His health is the priority, of course, and Evans said he expects to play Wednesday against San Antonio despite various maladies. He suffered a bruised left hip against Utah on Friday and was limited by it against Charlotte on Saturday.
By Monday morning, a new problem arose: his right ankle was sore.
"I put too much pressure on my right ankle because I was favoring my hip the last game," Evans said. "I woke up and it was swollen a little bit and sore. I was limping."
Evans, whose offensive game is predicated on driving to the basket aggressively and often spinning in the process, said he would rather play it safe now than let the ailments linger and possible worsen.
"You've got to take care of your body because it's a long season," Evans said. "If you go out there and play hurt, you can mess it up and make the injury worse. That last game (against the Bobcats), I couldn't give it my all. I just didn't feel comfortable being out there and couldn't really play hard."

Although nothing is imminent, the Bulls have discussed shutting down Joakim Noah because of the plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Noah has not been moving well and his production has been way down over the last two games. For now, Noah will fight through it and try to get some rest during the All-Star break. Look for his minutes to be limited for the immediate future and if it gets any worse, the Bulls will hold Noah out. Brad Miller has been logging the majority of minutes behind Noah. WASHINGTON — The snowed-out game between the Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards has been rescheduled for March 11. The game was supposed to be played Saturday but was postponed because of a blizzard that dumped two feet of snow on the nation's capital. Both teams played in other cities Friday night, and the storm prevented them from travelling to the area. The new schedule will force the Wizards to play three games in three nights. They visit the Detroit Pistons on March 12 and host the Orlando Magic on March 13.
