Let's see here:

Scola
KG
Varejao
Chandler
Mo Williams
+ pick-a-scrub

No second round pick. Well, I'd be interested in moving a mid round pick for a slight pick downgrade and a decent bubble keeper. No top 5 rounds available--gotta re-stock.

some players are free agents, so I'll need to wait for tomorrow to see if they stay with their teams or sign elsewhere.

I have changed the settings at ESPN, so you can now post/click your keepers. I had to pick some sort of date, so I picked Tuesday morning. That is by no means the deadline. Just a semi-random date for now.

When we first moved to ESPN, they did not allow game maximums by position ... only total games. We had a 720 game max., which is 10% more than an 82-game max. (656 games).

ESPN now allows maximums by position. So I pose the question ...

Do we want to have a 'games played limit' of ...
1. 584 total games (66 games * 8 positions + 10%)
2. 73 games per position (66 games + 10%)

I'd prefer them all be lumped together. We already have too many GP's imo. I think this way it adds flexibility for the owners that come down with injuries. Plus, it's pain checking how many GP's you have at each position and trying to manage accordingly.

Just want to throw a message out to the league regarding trades. I'm about ready to get into trade mode so I may be contacting some of you via e-mail to see if something is possible. Generally, here is how I view my team in regards to trades. (1) Aldridge, Rondo, Martin and Monroe are off-limits unless someone of equal or greater value is being dangled. (2) Allen and Thornton are my 5th/6th keepers at the moment. Since that gives me 3 SG's, I'd be willing to move one of them for a forward. (Preferably Allen because of the age difference) (3) Thad Young is my bubble guy. I would be willing to trade him for a substantial pick upgrade. (4) The rest of my roster could be had for a small pick upgrade. Anyone who wants to discuss something, feel free to contact me at michaelpatrickrichards@gmail.com

@28: I agree it feels like a few too many GP and is a bit of a struggle to get them all in. While the total games limit does make it easier to manage that piece of it, it also limits accountability to have a balanced roster. It limits the consequences of failing to plan for injuries (carrying only one Center or two Guards, for example), and allows one to intentionally skew category totals by running extra bigs or smalls as the case may be. Without the PG/SG and SF/PF distinction and 3 utility slots, we already allow a lot of roster flexibility.

One potential balance would be to restore the limits to being based on position/roster spots, but reduce the GP to schedule or schedule + 5%. While this may seem like a small change, over 8 positions in a normal season this would amount to about 32 less games played which I think would help out a bit. That would make the waiver wire adds slightly less important relative to the draft and trades but probably still of adequate weight.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought we had our rosters set for 2 G, 2 F, 1 C, and 3 Util, with 4 bench slots. Right now we look to be set up RIHC style with 2 PG, 2 SG, etc.

with fewer off-days this season, 10% seems to be unreachable with our small bench and potential injuries. 5% should be enough at least for this season.

would have no problem on limiting the games played by position, but since we only have G/F/C that does not make sense, because with daily roster updates you can achieve that anyway. there are too many players eligible at PF/C or SG/SF.

I'd like to welcome by boy Paul Millsap and say sorry to Ray Ray.

If anyone is looking to add a last minute keeper I have a couple vets (Caron Butler SG/SF, Carl Landry PF) and a few young players (Thaddeus Young SF, O.J. Mayo SG, Paul George SG/SF). I'm just looking to make a fair draft pick swap, depending on who the player is.

michaelpatrickrichards@gmail.com is the spot to start negotiations.

Can we set a keeper deadline? Season starts in 12 days and we've got the holidays to deal with. I'd love a lot of time to wheel and deal since I have some guys I need to move but that's just not feasible this year. By setting the keeper deadline those looking to trade can get their butts in gear :)

How about keeper deadline Friday at noon? With draft starting asap? That gives us about a week to draft which IIRC should definitely not be a problem since we only have 6 rounds.

I think we need to do the following:

1. Find one more manager and assign teams to the two new managers. (The two teams are Mike D's and slizz, correct?)

2. Map out the round-by-round draft order, and run the lottery to adjust round 1. (I can run the lottery)

3. Nail down keepers for each team. Usually these are marked at ESPN and posted in a separate thread.

4. Run the draft. If we want to use Draftime for this (aka kafenatid), I can set that up (including keepers).

Getting this all done before Dec 25 sounds ambitious.

Thanks to beebop and WG for interest, we will put them under consideration should another opening emerge in the future.

So I guess just go ahead and do the coin flip and the winner of the flip can pick his team.

Coin flip winner is skinneej, so he gets his pick of the two teams. dpr gets the other one.

I'll wait to run the lottery until skinneej selects, so that he doesn't have that info in advance.

Alright guys glad to be in the league. I will likely be looking for extra high upside keepers for either team as they both look a bit thin(however I am not used to 20 teams). If anyone has good extra players feel free to email me, otherwise I will just scour the thread to try and figure out whats out there.

Cool, making some progress here.
Dave do you want set up a Draftime draft then and we can all get registered so we are ready to roll right after keeper deadline?

I think the toughest part right now is someone figuring out the draft chart with all the picks. I definitely don't have time for that today, I could give it a try tomorrow night - but if anyone else can give it a shot, we would all appreciate...

I'll run the lottery in a few moments. Confirmation copies of the lottery draws will be sent to Ref and GO.

The spreadsheet which maps the lottery combinations to team names is here:
http://rotoguru1.com/hoop/G20/G20-Oct11-14x4_balls.xls

The teams finishing 7-20 last year are in the lottery. The 20th place team has a 25% chance of being selected on any draw. The odds grade down from there. The 7th place team has only a .5% chance of being selected.

Hopefully everyone can get signed up asap.

Everyone good with keepers by 6 PM Sunday? then we can try and get everything entered and turn things on for Monday a.m.
I will start up a keeper declaration thread.

Welcome (back) skineej and dpr! In my mind, you are the two owners who know if you can be ready with keepers before Sunday. The rest of us have had almost a week or more to think about keepers and any trades we might want to try to make (except with the two teams changing owners). Saturday at 6pm for a keeper deadline is 48 hours and might allow us to get the draft going Sunday, which might give us a great jump on the draft given our severe time crunch. Just putting it out there.

Thanks for stepping up Guru and GO to get us moving. It might help completing the draft grid if those with conditional pick trades would go ahead and resolve those conditions and post the outcome in this thread with confirmation from their trading partner. Some of those are awfully convoluted. I will try to work on the draft chart later tonight unless someone beats me to it.

To clarify on my draft picks,

I have GO 1.03, MikeD 1.07, PD 2.01, MD 2.07, MD 3.07 and 4.07?

I was worried about catching up in a league with so many players kept but it looks like I have some great draft picks (especially with my lottery luck) to get something done.

Right now have M. Gasol, Felton, Jo.Crawford, Collison, L.Williams and Aminu as keepers.

Thats 4 bench players with the recent rumors about collison so would definitely like to upgrade the last 2 spots at least.

re: 84

I'm through the picks prior to the trades from this fall and I think you've got them all figured out except that your 1.07 is actually 1.08 since GO's lottery win caused him to jump you in the round 1 order (your 1.03 pick) and bump non-lottery winners down a spot until 1.12.

Looks like Mike D really set you up nice for a big draft this year. Two of the first 8 picks and then 2 of the first 7 picks in round 2.

Skineej - obviously picks marked Slizz after round 1 are yours though somehow I managed to change all Mike D's to dpr. Similarly, Dave R you're listed by team name in round 1 only. I guess the lesson here is Whiskey and Draft tables don't mix. You might want to check your picks twice ;-)

I only was aware of the one outstanding (and three way) trade for 2012. Other than that, I think we're all good.

[112] Plan is:

Keepers are locked in at 6pm ET Sunday. Please post them in the Keeper thread at this forum, and also mark them at ESPN.

Sunday evening, I'll set up the keepers and the draft pick order at Draftime. Once that's set up, I'll activate the draft. Assume that we are officially starting on Monday morning, although I should have it turned on late Sunday night.

The history of this league is to use a 3 hour clock, so I'll plan to stick with that. I'll use a 9 hour clock moratorium (11pm-8am ET), just so that everyone in the western hemisphere has at least a 12 hour window overnight.

Based on the pace of other drafts, I think we should be able to complete the draft by Friday.
