Greetings! It's time to start preparations for another G20 Hoops season!! Time to put Great One back in his place - which is somewhere other than first!!
First order of business: Please confirm (or deny) that you will be back. I believe Frick has already stated his intention to move on and not play this year (via last year's thread). He can still change his mind, but unless we hear differently, we will need to find a replacement.
Here are last year's trades:
G20 12-13 Traded Draft Picks 11/26: dpr gets bmd's 1st. bmd gets dpr's 6th (Felton) 12/30: Species gets Pete's 3rd. Pete gets Species' 5th (Okafor) 01/08: CC gets GO's 1st. GO gets CC's 5th (Kirilenko) 02/02: Species gets Guru's 2nd. Guru gets Pete's 3rd (see 12/30) (Delfino/Thompson) 02/07: PacersRule gets Pete's 2nd. Pete gets PR's 6th (Robinson) 02/26: Tosh gets Meadwads 3rd. Meadwads get Tosh 6th (Jack)
Last year keepers were due October 17th and the draft started October 19th. The regular season starts around the 29th. I will look at dates more closely soon.
This is also the time to propose any rule changes.
Here are last year's standings:

15: Not first come, first serve......we look at potential managers on merit.....usually granting preference to other G20/24 managers. After that, referrals from existing managers are also considered.

18: I'm sure it's for the best that we find someone that has an established track record. The guy I was referring to is an excellent manager but I found out he can't do it this year anyway. Just wanted to be helpful in case finding managers is difficult. I haven't really seen the process happen since I joined the league.

Ha!
Took a look at my team again. Looks like 6 decent keepers, but a year ago I wouldn't have believed Reggie Evans would even be considered a keeper.
But what a boards monster. You ever see him play? I've seen him actually step on other teammates in his efforts to get a rebound.

My team looks pretty decent this year (relatively speaking!):
Fo sho keepers:
Russell Westbrook DeMarcus Cousins Tony Parker Jonas Valanciunus
Can only keep 2 of the following three:
Dion Waiters - young, talented stud is ready to evolve into a nearly unstoppable physical force at the SG spot......if he would just take the rock to the effin' rim instead of settling for jump shots. Being paired with Kyrie Irving helps. Off the charts athleticism.
Andrew Bogut - pretty sure I will keep him, mainly because it is just unlikely that another team would give me the value I would seek for him. Having held onto him for this long, and seeing his effectiveness in the playoffs, I don't want to miss out on this REB, OREB, BLK, AST monster.
Tobias Harris - exploded onto the scene after going to Orlando. An undisputed starter on a sucky team. He is a darling of fantasy rankings - I think ESPN ranked him 66th overall.
Open to options on one of these three players.

Yes, I'm out. Since moving out of Indianapolis, my interest in the NBA has waned significantly and I just don't follow the league closely enough to compete in a deep competitive league like this. I'll recommend WG for my team, after playing with him in a couple of other leagues, he should do well. Honestly, I think my team isn't that bad and has some great keepers, just my managing it is holding it back.
If there is anything I need to do to facilitate the change, let me know.

Players I'm not planning to trade... LaMarcus Aldridge Paul Millsap Greg Monroe
I would trade 2 or 3 of these guys for the right player... Rajon Rondo Tim Duncan Harrison Barnes Amir Johnson Kevin Martin
Players I would trade for small pick upgrades... Jarrett Jack Kyle Korver
If anyone is interested in any of these players send me an offer or email. I'd prefer to do a couple 2-for-1 deals or one 3-for-1 deal involving guys from the second list. I'm open to discussing anything but the lists are pretty much where I stand on everyone.

A few announcements:
1) I am giving PacersRule and PistolPete until Noon ET, Monday October 7th, to check in or lose their teams.
2) Guru....if you would be so kind as to renew Draftime ASAP I would appreciate it. Perhaps PP and PR have more accessible email accounts attached to Draftime vs ESPN and they will check in. Feel free to use monies I have on account to pay the fee.
3) If someone has time today, please post the rosters for Frick, PistolPete and PacersRule to this thread so perspective managers can review them.
Still looking at a keeper deadline around the 15th and a draft around the 17th.

Despite my comment above I'll go on the record and say that since WG just won the MLB league, that probably vaults him to the top of any waiting list.
Lets just give him no players and no draft picks this year to level the playing field. He can only play with who is available on the free agent wire post draft. :)

14 teams are in the lottery. For each pick, Coldwater Coyotes (last place) has a chance of 25% to be selected. Dave R has a 4/1000 chance (7th place). Every other team is somewhere in between.

Those in G20 baseball know that I too am very active and will always respond to trades and emails, and will likewise send out a lot of offers as well. For teams that need to reload with youth and dump some old farts ---- I am interested in giving up picks (I have my first and 2 seconds) for strong veterans without much keeper value. This would have to be done post-keepers, as I already have 7 keeper options.
A guy like Steve Nash is a prime example. Very little keeper value.....not really a star anymore but a worthwhile rotation player. Guys like that.
In particular I probably need scoring, 3's and assists.

Rajon Rondo, Tim Duncan, Kevin Martin, Harrison Barnes and Amir Johnson are all available.
I've already been offered two high draft picks for Rondo so that's the minimum to get in the discussion for him, if you're not offering a good keeper player.
The rest of the guys could all be had for one pick upgrade but I won't consider anything less than a 2nd rounder for any of them and a couple of them would take a 1st rounder.

I think I need to get younger. D. Wade and Manu Ginobili have been staples on my team since I took it over, but I'm wondering if I need to switch to some younger keepers while Bynum figures out if he's going to be able to play in the NBA. Just throwing that out there in case some of you trademeisters are interested in either of those guys. I would also be open to offers for Griffin. I'm open to offers on any of my guys but esp. those three in particular.

I'm a pretty flexible person when it comes to trading. I know that I can't get exactly what I want every time, even if I think it's reasonable. I'm more than willing to negotiate.
I think Dave R has done a fantastic job this preseason, so hopefully my comments aren't taken another way. I just want everyone to know that I have some really good players available and I'm looking to make some deals still.
Anyone looking to add a player still, I have Tim Duncan, Rudy Gay, Rajon Rondo, Harrison Barnes and Kevin Martin available. That should cover anyone looking to win now, anyone looking to win now and compete in the future and anyone looking to build for the future.

@ Species - I have written emails to every team that I think could add another keeper. I didn't tell them what I wanted, just asked them if they were happy with their keepers and wrote a list of players I'd be willing to discuss. Most of them didn't write back. I'm OK with people not wanting to do a deal, I'd just like a response, which seems reasonable.
@ Tosh - Maybe my mistake was declaring an asking price publicly. Anyone who's talked trades with me should know I'm willing to find a middle ground. It's not like I'm dropping 5 keepers into the draft for all the vultures to pick up. I'm keeping 3 of the 5 guys I'm offering. I don't know if you're asking that question with your own team in mind or asking it for everyone, so I can't really go into any detail. Suffice to say that I think there are several reasons that some teams should at least engage me in discussions over some of the players I'm bringing up.

I have entered keepers into Draftime. PLEASE REVIEW YOUR KEEPERS FOR ERRORS!!
I did a brief audit of the draft picks....they look good through 2 rounds at least....but again, if you see an error, bring it up asap.
I have started the draft without a clock. Some notes on the draft process:
- 4 hour clock starts tomorrow, Friday, at 12:00pm. Picks before then are encouraged, but technically not required. - YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR DRAFTED PLAYERS OFF OF ESPN. This greatly helps the league manage their draft and scout available players. Please make your best efforts to do so on your own - we all have smart phones so there is little excuse. - I could not figure out where Nene was in Draftime's database, so I couldn't put him as Tosh's keeper. If you run across him in Draftime, he is NOT AVAILABLE! ! - Post in-draft trades here and hopefully a Commish can get to it quickly.
Good luck and happy drafting!

Species - unless the system has been enhanced, there are only two ways to allow people to pick up drafted players:
1. Close the draft, and activate the season. This enables people to make their own adds (once all players have cleared waivers), but eliminates the ability to put undrafted players through waivers at the end of the draft - unless you clear everything and reload the draft results.
2. Give all managers Commissioner (LM) authority, so that they can use the LM interface to add players.

Okay.....have "entered the draft results" which now allows me as Commish to take guys off of waivers and put them on teams. As of this moment, we are caught up, and the free agents on ESPN are available on Draftime.
Unfortunately I am out of pocket almost all day today and traveling Saturday.....so my opportunity to keep up is spotty. I will have to lean upon the other Commishes to keep up. Pretty please!
Once waivers are done, please go pick up your players yourselves.
Clock will start at Noon.

I agree it's kind of weird when a player you had queued up a couple picks earlier is still there two rounds later....makes you questions yourself. In your case they didn't fall that far since your picks were all so close together.
Personally I looked at all three of those guys...esp. the last two, but in the end just couldn't get past Kirilenko's back issues and not sure what it was with Bargnani but it just didn't feel right. I think sharing the ball with Carmelo had something to do with it.

I had AK47 loaded in the queue to go @ 2.12, but like PR, I just couldn't get past the back issue. Probably going to bite me in the ass, but "that's why we play the games."
That said, I hate my Kaman pick. Total 'recycled' pick, but figure I need 1 C eligible guy, right?

I also looked hard at Kirilenklo at 2.15 right before your pick, but just too much risk there for me. Went with more upside on a young guard. Would have taken Korver had he made it to that spot though.

GO...I was all set to roll the dice on Wallace. Why not take a third Boston forward I figured. I guess I'll roll the dice on Ginobili's injuries and minutes limits instead.

Considering Kirilenkp was my fourth draftee, I felt the upside was worth the risk. If he was only my 2nd draftee, its likely I would have felt forced to go with a safer option.

Really...wtf was that? Funny thing is I had DoMo as my original choice, who then went next.

Ok, got your email PD and made Lou Williams pick. Pick 3.15 for 4.09 is an addendum to a trade we agreed on and will execute through ESPN site.
Trade is: Perm Dude gets: David West, J.r Smith, 3.15 Skinneej gets: Ersan Ilyasova, JJ Hickson, 4.09

You are correct. The clock did not stop, although the settings were correct. I re-set it, and that did not stop the clock either.
So I re-set it to a Midnight pause. That did not work either. So for now, I just turned off the clock. Guru can turn it back on in the morning.

The draft finally paused, but one hour later than advertised. The same thing happened in my RIHC draft. One hour delay.
Clock has been re-set to 4 hours. Now paused.

In AA, it looks like it autopicked a guy overnight for me two hours after my time started for the pick. Must be an odd internal clock thing--maybe with the reboot?

I don't know what happened but my pick was skipped after just 1 hour. I did not intend to get Koufos so no harm was done. looks like RSF has a DeLorean that allows him to travel into the future to pick Koufos at 8:34pm.

I'm sure KKB is on this, but we just had a rollback in AA, where two picks were wiped. So we'll need to be more alert than usual today as his software seems a little glitchy with the time.

Nene Hilario has been added to the Draftime database. You still can't draft him, since he is mine, and keepers cannot be edited once the draft has started.

Still 40 picks to go, and the #2 projected assist man available, according to ESPN, is Jason Kidd.
And Shaq & Iverson are in the top-25 in ownership%.

I'm excited for this year.....not that my team is the shizzle or anything, but I like it more than I have in a while. I went the total veteran direction in the draft and having 4 picks thru pick 2.16 gave me the chance to load up a bit. If only Westbrook was healthy....
Still going to go all out for a top 5 finish. Need Harris and Valanciunas to play like they did late in the year and Cousins to be the beast I know he is.

My draft is completed, and I'm not super interested in closely following along while players like Dwight Buycks are picked. So you guys need to stop relying on me to add the players to your team as an admin. Add your players please.
In related news ... Pistol Pete drafted Dwight Buycks, who is not in the ESPN database.

Tonight, I will re-set the draft, then re-enter all the players. Once completed, all players will be on waivers.

I seem to recall previous cases of the draft ending while a manager has an open slot. And in those cases, a final pick was not allowed, and the manager had to pick his final player via waivers.
Or maybe I'm mis-remembering. I'm deferring to other Commish's that have better recall.

From the G20 Hoops Treasurer:
Prize pool dues for 2013-14 will again be $15. Your payment is due by the end of October. If you do not pay by then, I reserve the right to hound you privately and ridicule you publicly!
Two members have permanently opted out of the prize pool: Perm Dude and Pistol Pete. There is no trophy pool assessment this year, as the trophy fund is still adequate for this year.
The other 18 returning managers are in the pool, and expected to contribute each year.
The following 6 members already have sufficient funds on account - either from last year, or from G20 baseball - to pay the full amount, and therefore owe nothing this year:
Beastiemiked Meatwads Great One Skinneej KnicksFan Species
Toral – owes only $12, as he has $3 on acct from baseball
Everyone else owes the full $15.
You may send your payment in one of two ways:
1. Mail a check for $15. Address will be provided on request.
The check should be payable to Dave Hall.
2. Paypal
Send to davehall@rotoguru2.com. Designate your payment as Personal-Payment owed. If you include a note, just say "G20 payment".
