Naptown Nados only had 602 games played vs. a minimum of 656, for a shortfall of 54. However, if my calculations are correct, a demerit is assigned for every 8 games the team is short, with only full integers involved. As such, he would be penalized 6 draft slots (vs. the 6.75 demerits 'earned'), as we only count full integers.
That would result in him being slotted 14th in our lottery and all subsequent draft rounds. Everyone from Vampire Weekend down to Bean would move "up" in the lottery.

However, I'll be traveling from Oct 4-19, and my internet connectivity will be spotty. As such, do not count on me for any commish-type duties during that time frame. I'll have my hands full just drafting my own players.
As I recall, I am the "owner" of the league draft at Draftime, and I'll renew that once NBA drafts are available.
I can run the lottery any time prior to Oct 4.

Here is the rule on demerits, as posted on the league site:A team must accumulate a minimum of 656 GP (82 GP/pos) over the course of a season. For each 8 games of shortfall (1 GP/pos), a team is assigned one demerit. Demerits will be integer values only. Thus, a team with 1-8 games of shortfall will receive one demerit, 9-16 will receive 2 demerits, etc. Although the statement "Demerits will be integer values only" could be interpreted several ways, I believe the intent is as Bean mentions in post 18, since a 1-8 games shortfall clearly results in one demerit.

For anyone short on keepers, I have the following players available:
Wes Matthews - Sharp shooter who can also get steals. Someone has to score the ball in Dallas. Showed how durable he is last year after suffering a freak injury the year before. Will Barton - Will the Thrill found a groove in Denver. 6th man of the year threat and only 25. Derrick Rose - Ahhh, Mr Rose. Will a change of scenery help? Will he stay healthy? Former MVP. He's about to turn 28 so the time is now to get his career back on track. Darren Collison - Likely facing a suspension, but the starting PG gig is his when he returns. He flourished when Rondo was out last year. Marvin Williams - Had a career year last year and was rewarded. He has the skill set to show last year wasn't a fluke. Al-Farouq Aminu - A do-it-all forward who will see significant minutes at PF and is only 26.
I'm looking for draft pick upgrades, 2 for 1s, 3 for 1s. Open to any ideas. Let me know if you have any interest.

Well these at my top five players:
Lebron James Al Horford Nicola Vucevic JJ Redick Harrison Barnes
Though I am leaning toward keeping 6th man Jamal Crawford, I haven't decided yet. The remaining bunch are:
Andre Iguodala Bojan Bogdonavich Dion Waiters Ty Lawson Jerryd Bayless Frank Kaminsky
Some have a chance to start (Bogdonavich has been anointed and Waiters looks to take Wade's place).
Anyway two of mine for one of yours or pick upgrades is what I am looking for, just like everyone else.

I just noticed an error in my Draft Grid. I owe twolves a 3rd for his 6th via an old trade with Toral. I have updated my grid and we will post a new grid once the lottery is completed.
Question for the group: if Wolfer doesn't return and we have to bring in a new manager, do we apply the demerit penalties for the lack of GP last year?
Or would we waive it so as not to penalize a manager who was not in control of the team in the first place?
Or, do we split the difference and slot that team somewhere other than 1st but not all the way down in 8th? 4th perhaps?

My thoughts are that the lack of GP is why he finished so poorly. Had he kept his roster full, he would have higher numbers in all counting stats.
I can see offering a higher draft position as a carrot to a new team, but only if you have a problem getting a rep.

Florian, check out post #60 here for rules.
BMD's team is fairly weak (who'd leave with a great team??) but you have to realize its a 20 team league with keepers, so they aren't *that* bad. Although that Jabari Parker guy should be cut or just dealt to In Giannis We Trust for a low draft pick...

Have to say that after sleeping on it, I'm having second thoughts. Other than Ibaka and Parker that team is really bad. And the rest of the league is pretty deep, so other than rookies the draft does not offer an easy way to build a team. The idea of spending 5 years being the Philadelphia 76ers to try to get a reasonable lineup is not very appealing.

bmd may have his team back. An OG, he is welcome in all G20 leagues.
Florian - please accept this as a buddy (even on a message board) giving you a hard time, but I have to call you out on being a bit of a wuss. You are a hard core hoops player who should be able to find those hidden gems and breakouts with the best of them. With twenty teams, of course there are going to be some teams in transition -- but a big part of the fun of this league is the challenge in building a winner in the first place. MAN UP!
I am going to email wolfer again.......and give him until Tuesday the 4th to respond. I will take suggestions on replacement managers and direct them here so they can familiarize themselves with the rules.
41: Yes, free agents/waiver wires operate normally during the season. The point of the rule you quoted is avoid any team being able to swipe a player off the free agent list because of new offseason news.

Sorry Vampire Weekend.......the curse of the highest lottery odds continues. I don't believe there has been more than 1 (IF THAT) last place team that has actually received the first pick in any hoop / baseball G20 league since we started doing lotteries. Kinda weird.
The league has been renewed in Draftime (thanks Guru). Would all teams please check your Draftime registration to ensure the best emails are there. If you want a partner or backup to have access, be sure to get their emails in there as secondary emails as well.

Pretty set in my keepers, but I do have Dallas PG Deron Williams available. Sure, he comes with a reputation of getting hurt, but he has only played less than 65 games once in his entire career. He just turned 32 so he is not ancient.
He is the clear #1 PG in Dallas. He hits 1.5 threes, will get 5-6 assists and a steal per game and is worthy of a spot on your G20 squad.

I tried to go into Draftime to set the order. But, somehow, wolfer had two accounts tied to our league in Draftime. That would seem to be just fine - we are all allowed to have multiple email accounts to which we receive Draftime emails. But when I went to input the draft order, it showed we had 21 teams.
I tried to remove one of wolfer's teams, but it removed him completely. I have sent wolfer a login to re-register for Draftime. I need him to do so ASAP please.
Reminder: The Keeper Deadline is Friday. Please mark your keeper in ESPN!!!

Anywho, I have a trade to announce. I have acquired Alex Len and a fourth round pick from GO for my second and fourth.
Alex Len becomes my 6th keeper, which I will post in other thread.

Did you mean GO gets your 2nd and 4th and you get his 4th and 6th plus Len???

The lead for dumbasses of the year is a three way tie right now:
- WG for not entering keepers in ESPN - PD for not entering keepers in ESPN - coldwater for not inputting keepers in the Keeper thread
I have fixed all of the above and "finalized" our offline draft. All players are now on waivers.
The draft will be held on Draftime. I hope to have time to enter keepers Saturday night and turn on the draft. The clock does not start until Monday.
As with baseball, we will pick up our players off of the Free agent list in ESPN. Keep in mind that Draftime is 'official' -- a player may show up available in ESPN but may have been drafted.
I ain't your effing mom......I am going to be absolutely swamped next week after missing 2 weeks of work for jury duty. I may not pick up other people's players on principle. Just pick them up yourself. Please. Pretty please.

Also note you can GREATLY speed up making a list of names (and then just move them around in order) by using the importing feature in the pre-rank.
This is a new feature of a pre-populated list determined from various ADP rankings averaged together... or something like that. Doesn't matter. It just puts the names in there for you which is something I suggested recently and Draftime built this year. Enjoy. Thanks Fred!

Ben Simmons pick made...
Excitement of the pick a bit dampened by the injury... Waiting half a season, or even a whole season at worst is not the end of the world in the big picture. I don't think I've had a 1st round fantasy caliber guy in this league. Even in the year I won it was a bunch of mid-level guys. Think I finally got my centerpiece. And man is he fun to watch if you haven't seen him yet. Sucks to have to wait, but its all part of The Process.

Like most of the 1st rounders these days, with them mostly being so young, it is an investment that is hard to hold in your portfolio.
Kind of like the idiot who drafted James Harden....when he was to be relegated to the 6th man in OKC, that idiot let him go, only for him to flourish as the sixth man and get traded to Houston.....and look at him now. Very painful.

Kornheiser is a Canada fan, I wasn't rooting for the Blue Jays.
I am driving so that I have my car while there for three weeks (leaving Sunday from Colorado). Had I planned to stay for a lesser time I would fly. I am retired Air Force, no flying phobias.
Planning to go to Games 1, 6 & 7 while there, should they all be necessary. Just sold my tickets to the Cavs home opener when they will raise the banner. Oddly the two venues are adjacent and Game 1 of the World Series is the same time as the banner raising.
Its gonna be a mad party in downtown Cleveland Tuesday Night, I should have gotten a hotel room, none left now but will stay that night at a friends house near the Rapid Transit (Cleveland's light rail system). I can use it even if drunk, but of course that might lead to a free night's stay, courtesy the Cleveland Police.

We have 10 picks to go. Great job everyone.
A reminder of what happens from here. At some point over the weekend if/when I have time (or if Tosh jumps in), we will re-enter the entire draft so that all free agents go on waivers. As such, please be aware that, upon the completion of the draft, no FA moves are allowed until the draft is re-entered and all players have been placed on waivers. Once that happens, then the league functions as normal.
Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!!
