Subject: RIHC 2017-18: rationale collection thread

  Posted by: Guru - [330592710] Sat, Oct 06, 2018, 23:24

RIHC managers: Please post your rationales in this thread. Rationales are due on a two round lag (i.e., when you make you 3rd round pick, your 1st round rationale is due.) You can post any rationale sooner than that if you wish.

Do not worry about placeholders or keeping things in the proper sequence. This is just a place to collect rationales, which I will then transfer over to the formal rationale thread in the proper sequence. This approach has worked well for the past several seasons, and I now have a somewhat automated method for making those transfers.

Remember that you should refrain from mentioning undrafted players. If you feel that your rationale requires that, then hold it back until the player has been drafted - unless the player mentioned is clearly undraftable this year.

Pick choice: I lucked out and had the 4th pick. Considering I was traveling to Japan during the draft I gave serious consideration to picking 1st for the convenience factor. But in ranking the first round, to me there was a fairly clear top 7 or 8. While AD, Harden and Giannis might have been atop of this tier, honestly there is not much difference between them and KD, Towns, Curry and Lebron, so I felt it was a waste to pick first. 7th was taken.....if 5th was available I would have taken that. But 6th was great as it put me in place to get one of the tip top studs.

1.06 Stephen Curry, PG, GSW

Curry was 6th on my ranking. I had faint hopes that Kevin Durant would be here, but Curry is an amazing consolation and honestly it is really strange that he is being discounted in drafts this year. Why? Depth in PG and the depth of threes? I don't know, but elite scoring, threes,fg (as a shooter) and ft coupled with strong ast, steals and decent reb make Curry a top 3 value.

1.08 . N. Jokic . C

It was a tough choice between Westbrook and Jokic. Jokic had great year and hoping even better this year with multiple stat areas often not contributed by big man.
Westbrook ? health probably deciding factor.

2.05 . C. Paul PG

Planned on taking a PG.
Choice was between Wall, Irving, Paul and Lowry. Unfortunately the first 3 all have injury and GP concerns. Lowry may have been best for potential GP consideration but went with Paul and hope age and injuries do not catch up with him this year.

draft slot #3
at the time I was up to choose my pick, #3 and #9 to #11 were available. I saw 4 picks slightly above the rest and had no idea what would have been available at #9, so I better take #3 and get one of Davis, Harden, Towns or that guy from Greece with the tough name to write or read.

1.03 Giannis Antetokounmpo, SF, MIL
easy choice. Giannis fills the stats sheet in every category. I would have even taken him at #1 over Harden and Davis.

Pick choice: Well...This implies I had a plan. My research was 'well, what'd they do last year?' 1 through 10 in exact order. Lame! Like everyone else, I did a cursory look at who the top guys should be. There were elite-elites to around 8 then just-elites after that. I decided split the elite-elites in half and add one...its always a math equation...the add one to make my remaining picks a little closer together, while still remaining at the top end of the elite-elites.

1.05 Kevin Durant

Because he's was my #1 pick last year. And he's a stud. And he'll be an MVP candidate. Only concern is the reduced minutes Kerr lives by. Considered Curry, but went with the blocks over the extra 3s.

I had the third overall selection for pick choice and I would have picked 5 if available because I had the top 5 picks slightly above Curry and Lebron. Curry mostly because I think he will miss games , sit out 4th quarters etc.. and Lebron maybe father time has to hit eventually and it's an unknown situation. 5th was taken so I had to take 4th.

1.04 Karl Anthony Towns , C,

I was actually planning to select Durant but as I looked closer I leaned more towards KAT. Is Boogie going to effect Durant's time and will he miss games and sit quarters just like Curry? Towns brings great %'s for a big and fills up the stat line. He is still young and could conceivably take a jump and hasn't missed a game in his career. Safe choice here.

2.08 Bradley Beal, SG

I was hoping for a pg here and had my eyes set on Kemba of CP3 but both were taken before it got back to me. There were other options at pg like Mitchell, Lowry or Irving but they have their warts be it low fg % or injury history. I went with Beal who gives solid assists for a shooting guard and pretty good %'s. An uptick in 3 pt attempts and faster pace could increase both his assists and point total. Again I think this is a solid pick here.

2.08 John Wall, PG

Wanted to go with someone with atleast one elite skill, and Wall with his Dimes fit the bill. Considered Jrue Holiday but since I already have him in G20, I thought I'd try a new flavor. Besides, him doing the Dougie for about 27 straight minutes in his first NBA game introduction is one of the best things in NBA history.

2.07 Rudy Gobert,C,Utah

The man I wanted was Ben Simmons. His lack of 3 and FT would have made him a perfect compliment to Curry....but of course he went a few picks earlier. Looking at the rest, the best players on the board were all PG. But with Curry on board, that is a lower priority. I could have considered Beal or Mitchell, but again I felt it was doubling down on those categories.

Blocks are always a bitch.....and my success last year in starting with AD gave me a great foundation there. With Kawhi and George gone, I decided to jump on the Center position with Rudy Gobert. As long as he is healthy, he is a great source of big man stats and I am excited to have him on my team.

3.08 . L. Aldridge PF,C

When it got close was hoping Butler or Love would fall to me but they got taken as well as Booker. Debated K. Thompson and L. Aldrige and not sure why picked Aldridge but he fills a PF,C position and felt shooting guards may be easier position to find later in draft.

1.11 Joel Embiid - PHI - C
Draft order draft: I had a choice between 11 and 12. Chose 11 just because it was highest pick available.

I was happy to get a top player at the scarce Center position with this pick. Last season Embiid was relatively injury free except for a freak eye injury in the playoffs. I think he will be able to play in back-to-back games and won't have any minutes restrictions this season. I expect him to play in over 70 games this season averaging around 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He also puts up solid numbers in all the other stat categories.

2.02 Ben Simmons - PHI - PG
After drafting Embiid in round 1, I wanted to get a PG in round 2 to help in the assist category. Thinking that few top PGs would be available by the time I pick again at 3.11. After missing his rookie season because of injury, Simmons played 81 games and much better than I expected in his first NBA season. His play making ability is exceptional for a man his size. If can develop a decent shot, he could be a top 5 NBA player. He has a chance to average a triple double this season with a high FG% because most of his shots come from close to the basket. Negatives are low FT% and no 3 point shots. Will need to address 3PM category later in the draft.

Pick Choice: Picked 10th got 10th. Hate having to wait 18 picks after even rounds but it was the highest available.

1.10: Damian Lillard - As expected, it came down to Dame or Dipo. Wasn't sure what would happen with Westbrook but knew at least one of those 2 would be here. Felt I couldn't go wrong with either pick but went with Dame for the more consistent production every year. If Dipo takes another step forward, he could be the better pick but Dame just needs to keep on keeping on. Very happy to have him lead the team!

2.03: Paul George - Well, all 4 players I had at the top of my queue went in the 4 picks after mine. Nice going guys! #$%#@&% prepared players, lol. Anyway, decided to go with PG-13 for his solid all around numbers and elite steals and 3s. Figure his usage rate and overall production will be high early while Westbrook is out or easing back into game shape. He was a strong foundational piece for me as my 2nd round pick last year and I expect the same from him again.

3.04 Kris Middleton

I had Middleton last year, he is a good source of threes with decent %'s and assists for a SF. Hopefully under Bud the Bucks will run a bit more uptempo offence and Middleton could benefit from this. I would have went Booker but his FG% scared me away and Butler's situation up in the air who knows where he ends up. I'm happy with this pick.

4.09 Clint Capela

This was kind of a rushed pick, fell asleep Sunday night before I could make my que and woke up Monday morning to work online and saw that I was up. Tried to do a little research but no one was standing out but didn't want to hold up the draft so went with Capela. Elite fg% and a good source of blocks and rebounds. Hopefully the fg% will allow me some leeway in later rounds to choose some chuckers. Almost went Conley here but injury history scared me away a bit.

3.10 Tobias Harris PF

Before the draft started I was targeting him for this pick. Where are the Clips going to get 1st unit offense? Not a good source of assists or blocks but nice scoring, 3s, and %s. Expecting him to shoulder more scoring load and despite the impression that he's been around for a while, he's in his prime at 26 and has the potential to improve on last year's numbers.

2.10 Kyrie Irving, PG, BOS
after getting someone filling all stats I am trying to pick one assist guy and one rebounder when I'm up. since I saw more options for rebounders I first took the assist guy. Irving does not get that many assists compared to other PG's, but since I took Giannis in round 1 I now have 2 players with the amount of assists that a servicable PG is expected to get. Since he is the #1 scoring option for this team I have the flexibility to get some lesser scoring options later in my hunt for defensive stats.

3.03 Draymond Green, PF/C, GSW
after a PG, a rebounder had to follow. last year I struggled with my blocks, so I especially looked at a guy that can provide me 100+ blocks. who does not hurt my FT%. looking at his other stats he is similar to Antetokounmpo, just with less scoring and a worse FG%. I like all these assists and steals that I can get out of a player eligible at the center position. This should give me some flexibility later in the draft. For example to not have to look at PG's and instead focus on SG's to get my remaining dose of assists.

Pick choice: I landed the 12th spot by default, but i'm totally fine with drafting on the turn. It takes the time zone stress out of it for me, being in the UK, and unless a slot in the top 8 was somehow left, this would have been my preferred slot anyway. I believe the droppoff after the first 15 picks or so is significant, so this is a good place to land 2 lower-elite types.

1.12 Victor Oladipo, SG, IND

I was pretty suprised to see Embiid taken at 11, and that threw me for a loop a bit, because he would have been my selection. He and KAT anchored my squad last year. I had to re-evaluate, and decided to go with Dipo. He was an absolute monster last year, and delivered almost 3 steals per game after the ASB last season. He also provides superb percentages from the SG slot, and if it's one thing that i really took on from last year's RIHC victory - look after percentages. I expect a top 10 showing this time out.

2.01 Kawhi Leonard, SF, TOR

Difficult call between Kawhi and PG13, but ultimately, i feel Kawhi's ceiling is higher. Yes, he was hurt last season, but i'm hoping he's back to 100% and preseason signs look promising. If so, that could mean a career year, and a career year for Kawhi Leonard is a lock for top-5 value. Could not turn down a chance to get that at 13. As i mentioned before, i think the dropoff is steep in only a few picks time. I did consider Ben Simmons as well but i probably only would have drafted with Embiid for a very fun time!

3.12 Eric Bledsoe, PG, MIL

Drafting 2 wings to start meant i needed to balance out some of my cats a bit. I had Bledsoe pegged here from early on and thrilled to get him. He was a top 10 player in the 2nd half last year, and i'm hoping Mike Budenholzer's offensive schemes will benefit him even more.

4.01 Myles Turner, C, IND

Last chance to get a really good Center here and i fancy Myles to have a nice post-hype year. He's worked hard on his body in the offseason, so i'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. He could easily average 2 blocks and 1 3 if he wants to. I'm ceding some statistical grunt to Clint Capela here, but i'm sticking to my percentage guns, and look to have 4 very solid picks so far from that perspective.

3.05 Jimmy Butler

I was all over the board with this pick, looking at Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, Kevin Love, Kris Middleton and some other guys. A few were picked of immediately before my pick, so that made life easier. I flip-flopped Klay and Jimmy, liking Klays 3s, but decided to go Jimmy for the team diversity. Jimmy...how many games you gonna play for me? I see a pattern forming here on injured dudes and its starting to scare me. Lets go Team Defense!

4.05 . CJ McCollum . SG
Best values appeared in G area and looked at DeRozan and Porter Jr. who got taken ahead of me and J. Murray who I have on another team. Decided on SG with good 3s and scoring.

5.08 . Gordon Hayward Sf
Needed SF to fill out lineup and it appeared to be Boston or Boston (J. Tatum). Despite injury history to Hayward decided to follow the big money.

Draft Slot #9 – No Strategy. Just the best available when it was my turn to pick.

1.09 Russell Westbrook, PG, OKC
So I’m away from the computer almost the entire weekend for the start of the draft. I’ve got a list of names on my phone. Almost every mock draft I’ve looked at shows the same 8 names at the top in various order.

Looking ahead to see who should be available at pick 02.04, I see a lot of good PGs. Most mock drafts show Damian Lilliard , Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embiid as the players ranked 9-10-11. So I decide to put Jokic at #9 in the queue and turned on auto-pick. Imagine my surprise when I check in several hours later and see that Westbrook is on my team.

I hear that Westbrook is somewhat good, and gets an occasional triple-double. He’s also a bit injured, so hopefully it’s just minor.

2.04 Kemba Walker, PG, CHA
I planned on getting a PG here. But I also planned on getting a ‘C’ in round 1. I would have taken any of the 4 players (Oladipo, Leonard, Simmons, George) that were just selected. I felt that the next tier of big men were a bit of a reach for this pick. So I’m doing something I’ve never done before … started my RIHC with 2x PGs.

Lots of good press on Walker this year. Every single article out there notes his back-to-back all-star teams, and that he should be improving on those numbers this year. I’ll roll with him for now, and look for big men later.

3.09 Blake Griffin, PF, DET
I need a big man. Preferably a Center. I wanted Love or Aldridge, but they were both selected in the previous three picks. I’m still not near a computer, and am operating off a list of names on my phone. In retrospect, Griffin was not a great pick. He would have likely still been available later (pick 4.01 & 5.07 in the AAA drafts).

Griffin contributes in all categories, but isn’t fantastic in the percentages. His health will always be of concern -- he's played 67 games or less in four straight seasons.

4.04 Otto Porter Jr. , SF, WAS
I still haven’t had enough time to do proper research on these picks. I’m already lagging behind in Rebs/blocks, and I still need a ‘C’, but would be reaching on any of the available players. Porter finished 2017-18 with 14.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.8 three-pointers, and good percentages across 31.6 minutes. No reason to expect less this season. Hopefully he’ll be solid for me.

5.09 Jayson Tatum, PF, BOS
Still searching for big man stats after going PG x2 in the first two rounds. Tatum would have been rookie of the year last season if it were like most seasons, but Simmons and Mitchell were better. Boston is super-deep this year, so it’s a little tricky forecasting stats for any of the Celtics. But an injury or two is all it will take to allow Tatum to reach stardom and get closer to his ceiling.

6.04 Julius Randle, C/PF, NOR
My name is ‘Randol’. His name is “Randle’. I need a Center. He’s a perfect choice for me right now. Too bad he doesn’t get more steals and blocks, but he did lead the Lakers in points and rebounds last season. I’m sure that won’t be the case this year in New Orleans, since they have some guy named Anthony Davis that I’ve heard is pretty decent.

5.04 Lou Williams, SG

After picking up Capela with my last pick I was looking for a point guard. Unfortunately I was going off Yahoo positions where Sweet Lou is listed as a PG/SG combo so I thought why not. Alas he's only a shooting guard in ESPN. Oh well , I don't see his situation changing much after a career year in LA. Should be a nice source of points,3 pointers, ft % and surprising assist numbers. I also considered Teague and Rubio here but after picking Capela liked the extra points that Lou brought to the table.

6.09 Nikola Mirotic, PF

The more I look at this pick the more I dislike it. He's the third scorer on the team and going to be pushed for minutes by Randle. I hoping since their skill sets don't clash that Nikola's stats aren't effected too much. Nothing sexy here at all, I had Millsap at the top of my que but he went two picks before.

7.04, Kris Dunn, PG

So this is when I found out that the ESPN position were a lot more stringent than Yahoo's, so now I desperately need a PG here. I'm kind of at the end of a mini-run here of 5 out of 8 picks being PG. I had Dunn and Dragic at the top of my que and am happy to get Dunn. If he can improve his shooting like he did from his first year to second and shown in the preseason I will be thrilled. A good source of assists, steals and rebounds for a guard, I'm actually pretty happy about this pick.

5.12 Ricky Rubio, PG, UTA

Rubio returns to my squad this year, although i did trade him away last time out. Don't know if that's significant, but what i do think is significant is Rubio's opportunity this season. He went on one of his patented 2nd half tears last year, and i'm hoping for more of that this season, but more consistently.

6.01 Jonas Valanciunas, C, TOR

Not an earth-shattering pick here, but a solid consistent 2nd Center. Dwayne Casey has left the building, thank goodness, hopefully removing the farcical barrier to 4th quarter minutes that seemed to be in place before. He's also a guy who shoots it well from the field and the line, so any edge towards 30 mpg would be of double benefit.

Draft pick 7

I had the luxury of picking first for my draft slot, so I could have gone first and would have nabbed Davis. But in looking at the top level players, it seemed to me that there was great value to be found picking later in the first round. Apparently I wasn't the only one to feel that way, as the first four all deferred to slots 4-7

Lebron James PF LAL

I know Lebron is getting older ( aren't we all ). Even so, last year he played in all 82 games, a season that some say was one of his best ever, and averaged 27.5 points, around 9 boards and assists,
2.5 blocks/steals combined and 149 triples. He's a stat filler.

Moving to the Lakers, I think he's got an excellent chance to at least duplicating last years numbers

2.06 Andre Drummond C DET

I had Andre last year and he treated me well. Discounting FT%, he's likely a first round choice. His rebounding is unmatched, grabbing 16 boards last year. He also scored at 15 per, and posted 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. Last year he upped his assists to 3 per, which was sweet

Rumor is he is working on a 3 point shot, I'd be happy if he just worked on his FT's

3.07 Devin Booker SG PHO

It's hard to believe Booker is only 21 years old.
I was really hoping he fell to me here, I've seen him ranked as high as 20th. Maybe people were scared off by his injury, but it sounds like he may be back by opening night.

He's a solid scorer, a solid source of treys, assists and boards. A few more defensive stats would be nice, but....

Rumor has it he might be playing PG this year, which could bolster his assist totals even higher, and as this draft has unfolded could be critical to my team

4.03 DeMar DeRozan SG SAS

I really wanted Turner with this pick but he was scooped up during the 4 selections since my round 3 pick. I had gone PG, SF, PF and was really looking to go big but I had a bunch of other centers fairly evenly rated so I couldn't pass up the value of getting DeRozan. I may regret not taking a big but he contributes in every category except blocks. If I get similar numbers to last year (23 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast, 1 trip, 1 steal with 80+ FT% and 45 FG%) he'll be a steal at this spot.

5.10 Enes Kanter C NYK

Well, all the centers I had hoped would be here for this pick were gone. I should know better. But I have high hopes for a bump in productivity from the Turkish dissident. He averaged 14 point and 11 boards with good %s in only 26 minutes a game last year and has less competition for minutes this year. I can make this work. I hope...

6.03 Will Barton SG/SF Den

I'm all in on Barton and his across the board contributions. He's slated to start at SF for a very good Nuggets team and he really has very little competition there for playing time. If he matches last year's numbers with 33 minutes, 16 points, 5 RBs, 4 assists, 1 steal, .5 block and 2 triples, he'll have more than earned this draft slot.

4.10 DeAndre Jordan, C, DAL
I did not like the options at guard here. Since I already have 2 big men with guard-like assist numbers, it should not be a problem to fill my big men early.
I thought a lot about taking Jordan and his low FT%, although it got better last season. There are some other bad FT shooters out there, so it was either me loading up some of them, or only picking one of them and trying to recover with other picks. In the end I took the gamble and will probably try to recover. the FG%, rebounding and blocking numbers are just too good to let them pass.

5.03 Hassan Whiteside, C, MIA
after taking a C with my last pick it was almost a given to pick a guard here. Had Doncic lined up in my queue and was almost certain that he will go at #51 and land on my team. turned out he went at #50 and I need to research my options again. during this research I identified too many questionmarks in the PG's that usually go around this pick and since I did not want to reach for a PG with less questionmarks, I also looked at other positions. Whiteside stood out because he is similar to Jordan, but with a better FT% which is still far lower than average. so my FT% hole is even bigger to recover from. I don't know if I still want to receover or be happy with the 3 points I might get at best if I don't try to.
I never punted a category before, so I will most likely dig myself out of that mess. at least I have FG%, REB and BLK locked up for now.

6.05 . J. Nurkic C
I was originally thinking PG here looking at D. Smith Jr. but due to a bit of panic over the run of centers decided to take center. Randle who I like went right before my pick.

7.08 . Trae Young PG
Took PG and will gamble on rookie as he will get plenty of opportunity to play. Hopefully his shooting % will be okay. In a bit of wishful thinking, I had hoped Dunn might fall a bit further.

3.11 Klay Thompson - GSW - SG
I wanted to get a player with some 3PT production with this pick and was happy when Thompson fell to me. Thomson has been very durable throughout his career putting up good numbers in 3PM, FT%, PTS, and FG%. He was a strong contributor to my team last season.

Harris's fantasy numbers have improved in each of his 4 NBA seasons. Even if he has reached his peak, I don't see him declining at age 24. I expect him to average around 18 points, 2.5 3PM, 1.8 steals, 3 assists with solid FG and FT percentages.

Picked Adams as my 2nd Center. I expect Adams to average around 14 points, 9 rebounds 1 block, and have a high FG%. Adams starting position seems to be safe even with the arrival of Nerlens Noel. Adams has been durable never playing in less than 70 games in each of his 5 NBA seasons.

Figured I needed some old, injuried player diversity and went with a young injured player with no shooting skills and a still funky-chicken shot motion. Yeah, this is going to pan out nicely. Hoping for similar or maybe less counting stats than last year with a shooting improvement he sorta showed last year.

7.09 Josh Richardson, SF, MIA
I’m taking Richardson with pick #81. He was #59 & #71 in the AAA drafts, so I seem to be getting a good deal. He provides quality across all 8 categories, especially in Steals/Blocks … and returned top-50 value last season. At age 25 on the same team with the same role … he’ll likely provide similar results.

8.04 Robert Covington, SF, PHI
Covington is the exact sort of player that shows why I’ve never won RIHC. Here is a top-40 player that was first-team All-Defense last season, and doesn’t have a weakness in any of the 8 categories. And yet I know nothing about him. He’s been sitting near the top of my rankings for awhile, but just assumed they were skewed in some way. Once I finally looked at the guy … I’m impressed.

My team needs Guards and Centers right now. But Covington looks to be more valuable than anyone else currently available. He was picked #65 & #69 in AAA, and I’m getting him at #88. Hopefully he’s a steal for me with all his steals (and blocks and rebounds and etc.)

7.12 Jonathan Isaac, PF, ORL

This was the first set of picks where my queue was decimated beforehand as JRich (wonderful pick at this stage), Collison, and JJJ were swiped before me. I really wanted Josh, but i'm happy with Isaac. He has a chance to set some kind of crazy record like 2 st, 2 bl, and 1 3 if he gets the time. I feel his ADP has been deflated as he's been injured preseason, but it doesn't seem serious. I hope not, because if he comes to close to this, i feel in a very strong position in money stats.

8.01, Brook Lopez, C, MIL

Should i have taken Bob Covington here? I'm still not sure, but the C well is almost empty and i want some more insurance here. Brook had a down year in LA last year but finished strong. Prior to that, he was a top-40 player for what seems like an infinite amount of time at Brooklyn. If he does that again, and he'll be wide open because of the other Bucks' weapons, he'll be a great value here.

6.10 Dennis Smith Jr, PG, DAL
after the unexpected center shopping in rounds 4 and 5 I better get some PG's this time.
not many PG's are left that are capable of staying there all season. The ones I don't see starting all season, even when healthy are: Russell, Ball, Hill, Beverley
this leaves me with Smith, Dragic, Dunn, Young and Collison to choose from. I value Smith the highest and since I will not be great in FT I have no problem with his sub .700 FT%. The rest looks promising in his 2nd season and it will be interesting how well he does alongside Luka Doncic.

7.03 Goran Dragic, PG, MIA
Dragic was my #2 PG when I researched that position for my last pick. after going C-C in rounds 4 and 5, it was a given to follow up with G-G in rounds 6 and 7. Dragic should be very similar to Smith, but with less upside. I'd take that as long as Dragic performs like he did the last few years: solid but not spectacular.

8.10 Kyle Kuzma, SF/PF, LAL
It happened again. I really wanted Wiggins here and he went 1 pick too early.
since I am looking good at FG%/REB/BLK/PTS I looked who can provide my some ASS/3PM/STL. Wiggins would have been such a player. Kuzma is not that well rounded, but he can provide my team some necessary 3's. At the Lakers there is uncertainty about the roles of all players not named Lebron. McGee never was a player that played many minutes. the backup centers are even worse, so I guess they will be forced to play a lot of smaller lineups which should give Kuzma additional time next to Lebron and Ingram.

9.03 Buddy Hield, SAC, SG
was in search for someone that can provide me 3's and steals. Thought about Markkanen but it was too early given that his prognosis is 6 to 8 weeks.
in the end it came down to Levert or Hield. I see Hield as the safer pick, thus he joined my team.

9.12, Caris LeVert, GF, BRK

At this point of the draft, i often remind myself how long we have to go. I mean, we're at round 9 of 16 here, so we're just over halfway. There's plenty of time left for late gambles, but i need to make sure my starting roster is up to scratch. LeVert seems a no-brainer here. He's had a great preseason, finished strongly last year, and gives me a healthy boost in assists from the SG/SF positions. I also love that Brooklyn play at pace. Think this all translates to a great year ahead for Caris.

10.01, Kyle Anderson, F, MEM

He's been sitting near the top of my board for almost 4 rounds now so it's time. Kyle churned out rounded stats and top-60 value with almost no usage last season with the Spurs. I'm banking on the change of scenery giving an incremental upgrade, as he'll be the unquestioned starter, with all the minutes he can handle in Memphis. I guess he slipped because of his scoring average, but he's a sneaky value - 2 st, 1 bl, 50+ FG%, 78+ FT%, 4+ assists not out of the question with the 30+ minutes he'll surely accumulate.

Overall, i'm really liking the out of position 8-10 extra assists i get from these 2 picks.

Wanted Covington whom had last year but got taken jhust ahead of me. A good scorer and seemed like a value here relative to other options.

9.08 . M. Bagley PF
Was looking a Harrison Barnes or PG Fox but like Bagley upside and needed rebounds and potential blocks.

10.05 . TJ Warren . SF
Needed SF and TJ seemed to be right although he has competition for playing time in a young Phoenix line up he has been improving every year and hope he can at least match last year. Also liked Favors and Sabonis here but need took over.

8.09 Andrew Wiggins, SG, SF

I liked Wiggins here and am hoping for a bit of a bounce back season. Maybe Butler calling him out will motivate him. I can see 20 ppg and an improved ft%, with a steal and a three a game. It's the 8th round I'm happy with that. I also liked Wiggins position flexibility here.

9.04 Tyreke Evans, SG

Well I had Hield all lined up at the top of my que, only to have him sniped right before my pick. I liked Hield here as a bit more upside. I don't think Tyreke will get the run he had last year but he's put up consistent numbers when healthy and would like to see the assists stay high. I almost pulled the trigger on Fox as I still need a second point guard and hoped he would get back to me but no such luck.

10.09, Malcolm Brogdon, PG

So I needed a pg and had a few choices like Reggie Jackson but had Brogdon last year and really like that his %'s are so good. He's only in his third year so maybe some room for improvement and if Milwaukee's pace is faster you may see increases in his offensive numbers. I think it's good value here.

11.04, Derrick Favors, PF

Looking a for a pf and Favors stood out. Almost a block and steal a game, 7 rebounds and good fg%. Not much upside here unless Gobert misses some time but solid contributor.

8.08 Danilo Gallinari

If you are going to really and truly commit to picking brittle players that are going to break at the slightest wind shift, then Danilo is your man. Therefor he is required to be on my roster. Also, when he is on the floor, which wasn't much last year, he is an elite FT shooter with volume, drops some nice 3s. Position versatility helps.

I'm biting on the preseason rebounding numbers...plus position diversity. Free from the tyranical rule of Lord Russ, he put up quality numbers last year. Not much to show in steals and blocks but nice FG% and boards, he fits a need for me. Another guy I'd actually try to watch.

This intrigues me only because of the "do we get Olympic Melo" question I keep hearing. I'm not sure what that really means, but its got to be really something incredible as much as I've heard it. "Mid Range Iso Melo" sucks...don't ever show up again. The Rockets bench will beat your ass if you shot twos. Bomb away Melo, bomb away. The drama is going to be fun. Had Favors queued up, but alas he was not destined for greatness of Team Defense* (plus Melo).

I had Love and all of the SG/SFs queued up here. I would have taken Draymond,Middleton or Butler here but was not upset when they were all rightfully taken. I expect a big year from Love with LeBron out of town.....okay definitely not Minnesota type years but very strong production. I wish he blocked shots but the points and rebounds will be great. PF/C eligibility doesn't hurt either.

I gave serious consider to Devin Booker here but was scared off by the hand injury. But that is crappy logic when Love misses tons of games too. You are welcome,Dave R!

I hoped one of DeRozan or McCollum would fall here, but they didn't. The 4th and 5th rounds are always a fun time in ribc -- you either load up on big man stats or get more point guards. I was very tempted to take Marc Gasol here and really nail down blocks without harming percentages. But I really like Denver from a fantasy perspective this year and was sold on Murray. I think he has breakout potential.

Al Horford, C, BOS

Zzzzzzzzzz. Horford is a solid but really boring player. I contemplated all of the Celtics that were taken here (Tatum, Hayward) but had Horford a notch higher. Considering the run on Centers leading up to this pick, and continuing after, looking back now I am really glad I got him. He is not much of a scorer and won't sniff double digit rebounds too often, but nearly 5 assists and solid percentages make him a very valuable asset.

11.12, Bobby Portis, PF, CHI

Lauri Maarkanen is out for another 6 weeks at least, opening a big door for Portis. He's a usage beast, so starting or off the bench probably won't matter. He'll score heavily and efficiently, and could be something like 18-8 in the first month whilst the Bulls acclimatise their new faces. Very pleased to nab him here.

12.01, Derrick White, PG, SAS

I considered a few other guards here, but plumped for White in the end, mainly due to upside and opportunity. Dejounte's injury puts him in the box seat, and already Pop came out and called him "Our Guy" at PG. His advanced metrics from the G-League and College hold up well, exemplified by a 4.9% collegiate block rate. Maybe there will not be many assists, but if he turns out to be a tertiary scorer and can supply me 14ppg along with 4apg and some blocks, steals and 3s, that's good enough for me here.

Brown was the 3rd overall pick in the 2016 draft. Watching him play against the Sixers in last years playoffs, he was a leader and showed a lot of heart playing through a hamstring injury. Even with the return of Irving and Hayword to the Celtics, I expect Brown to continue to have a major role. Still only 21 years old, I expect his numbers to improve this season.

4.06 Aaron Gordon PF ORL

I might have reached here, maybe not. Gordon is only 23 years old and has improved each year in the league. Last year was his best ( no coincidence to the fact he logged a career high 32 min per game ), averaging 17.6 points, 8 boards, 2+ assists, and a combined 2 steals/blocks. His %'s leave a little to be desired, but I think I can withstand his subpar FG%, and my FT% is heading toward the toilet anyway.

Last season he topped 40 points a game twice and 15 boards twice, so lets see what he can do this year. I'm expecting him to take it to the next level

5.07 Jarrett Allen C BKN

Everyone's favorite sleeper it seems, so much so, I don't think you can consider him a sleeper. Getting him in round 5 seems a slight discount from other drafts I've seen.

Allen didn't play much early on last year, but did get meaningful action towards the end. He finished averaging 8.2 points, 5.4 baords and 1.2 blocks, in only 20 minutes per.

I'm envisioning Allen will end the year as a 15/10/2 guy, limited steals and assists, but with extraordinary %'s.

6.06 Zach Lavine SG CHI

Zach was a 7th round pick in our league 2 years ago, and I don't believe he was a starter back then for Minnesota. We all know last season was basically a lost year for him due to a torn ACL.

He played the final 1/3 of the season, and averaged 16.7 points, 4 RB's 3 assists, 1 steal and 1.8 triples. Noteworthy, his FG% was a full 7 points off his 2 prior years.

Rust, maybe. I'm banking his FG% reverts back to his career norms, which will give him a nice boost in points and 3's

7.10 Jaren Jackson, Jr., PF, MEM

Had Josh Richardson at the top of my queue for this pick and watched him go just before me. I like the upside of JJJ on a rebuilding Memphis team that really has no reason to start anyone else at PF. My guess is that he will not start at the beginning of the season but will move up fairly quickly. He should get plenty of minutes off the bench. He has the tools to be a significant contributor in every category.

8.03 DeMarcus Cousins, C, GS

Well, here's where my center "strategy" comes to fruition. After waiting too long to get 2 solid starters at Center, I'm banking on about a half season from Boogie. If he's at close to full go around the midpoint, this roster slot will produce the average of the player starting the year and the stats from Cousins in the 2nd half. I'm hoping that yields satisfactory production from the Center 2 slot. Early reports on his progress are encouraging but I'm not counting on anything just yet. I expect a fair number of off days (and 4th quarters) once he's ready to play but the potential here to "fix" my Center issues was too enticing.

9.10 DeAaron Fox, PG, SAC

Maybe a little bit of a reach here but I really wanted him on my roster. He's supposed to have improved his shot in the off season and I'm counting on a significant progression/improvement in all phases to make this a worthwhile place to add him. He's a big part of the Kings' future and he should log heavy minutes and be a focal point of both their offense and defense.

10.03 Kelly Olynyk, PF/C, MIA

Only listed at Center on ESPN right now but I expect that to change as he's slated to begin the year as the starting PF with James Johnson recuperating from an injury. He becomes the half season center mentioned in the description of Cousins above. He doesn't produce the usual Center-type stats in rebs or blocks but he makes up for that with points, assists, and good %s. He could also swing into Jaren Jackson's slot if the minutes aren't there early in the season.

11.10 Jordan Bell, C, GS

More Cousins insurance. Hoping he gets the largest share of the minutes as either starting Center or back up PF until Boogie is ready. If he gets 20 - 25 minutes a game he'll help out in blocks and rebounds.

7.07 Joe Ingles SF/PF UTA

I really struggled with this pick. I know I needed a PG ( I really hate ESPN's limited flexibility ), adn I considered Trae Young and two others who fell to me later. Josh Richardson was also tempting, and maybe a comparably choice.

But I couldn't get past Ingles. He doesn't score much ( 11.5 per last year ), doesn't block any shots, but everything else.... WOW.

Ignoring the points ( and they aren't awful ) and blocks, how does 2.5 treys, 4.2 RB's, 4.8 dimes, and over a steal per game sound.

It sounds good to me

8.06 Elfrid Payton PG NOR

I finally grabbed a PG. I also considered Fultz and Sexton.

Elfrid isn't a great scorer, doesn't hit many 3's for a PG, and he doesn't need to in NOR, But he will contribute assists, boards and steals, and he fills a void for me. I'm actually happy with him here.

Best line.... Rotoworld in their player profile observed;

Payton also got a new haircut, so maybe his percentages trend up now that he can see the rim.

Rookie #3. 7th overall pick, was named to the All-NBA Summer league first team. One thing is for sure, Carter Jr. is going to record a ton of blocked shots and that was I needed. Possible starter for two months.

7.02 Saric, Dario - PHI - PF

The centers from my queue are gone.
I hope Saric continue to work as at his natural power forward spot. His age suggests he can continue to improve his overall skill set.

8.11 Mcgee, Javale - LAL - C

Center needed. McGee is athletic, can switch, protect the rim, flush alley-oops, and get out in transition.

9.02 Osman, Cedi - CLE - SF

I believe Osman can be the number two in Cleveland. He has a really nice, well-rounded game which should allow him to put up friendly numbers this season.

10.11 Lamb, Jeremy - CHA - SF

Jeremy Lamb is slated to start. Last year was the first in which he received more than 20 minutes per game. He has looked good so far in the preseason and could be a nice pick.

11.02 Gay, Rudy - SAS - PF

Gay remains as the only small forward on the roster in San Antonio. He ranked just outside the top 150 last season in only 22 minutes per game. That number is set to soar.

This is what happens when you are drafting in multiple leagues at the same time, wake up and immediately look at your cellphone, see its your pick, panic, think a player is already taken, then make some apparently random selection. Ugh.

For some reason, I thought Dennis Schroder was already taken. Ooops, well he went immediately after mine.

All that said, I really like Harry Giles. I just would have really liked him more if this was my G20 roster. He does have a nice injury history, dating back to high school! Plays on the complete cluster-f that is Sactown. Vlade is a terrible GM, but any GM for Sactown is terrible, apparently.

I've got a need for another G/SG, and I've had him queued up for a round or two. Injury last year...check. I'm hoping for a standard line from him of a 1.5+ 3s, 1+ steals, with solid G percentages.

9.07 Markelle Fultz PG PHI

I had to choose between Payton and Fultz last round, Fultz was still here for this pick, so why not. I was tempted to take Levert here, and almost wish I had

Last years #1 pick out of college, Markelle had a nightmare rookie season. He did play the last few weeks with mixed success, but did notch a triple double in the final game.

There's allot of mouths to feed in Philly, and he might not make a lot of 3's, but he will contribute in RB's, assists, and steals

10.06 Larry Nance PF CLE

I read that Cleveland views Nance as one of the building blocks of the future Lebron is no longer in uniform, someone has to score and rebound, other than Love.

His FT% could be concern ( not on my team ) as well as lack of 3's. But he should score 10-12 points and I can see him averaging 8-10 boards and a combined 2 steals/blocks.

I'm OK with that

10.10 Lauri Markkanen, PF, CHI
after taking so many bigs I am a bit behind in 3's. The NBA is 3-crazy right now. every player is developing his 3pt shot, so the number of 3's necessary to earn good points raises. Since I am having a few players that basically do not provide any 3's I need to make up their deficiencies with players that score 2+ per game.
Markkanen is such a player. too bad he is still out for around 6 weeks, which should amount to approximately 20 games. therefore I reduced his value by 25% and he was still close to the top of available players and the best option providing 3's. he should provide me a nice boost come December. until then I need to find someone that fills his void.

11.03 JJ Redick, SG, PHI
I am still in the hunt for 3's and steals. looked at a lot of players but did only like Redick and Caldwell-Pope for this pick. in the end I took Redick because he gets more 3's, but less steals. I don't see many high volume 3pt shooters still left and there is hope that the required steals will still be there in the next few rounds.

11.08 . Taj Gibson PF
Homer pick as he has been steady for twolves.. Looked at M. Morris as alternative as both have good FG and RB stats.

12.05 . DJ Augustin PG
Cannot have too many PG for assists and DJ does not have much competition for minutes, so suspect may play a lot and assists and hope stats at least match last year.

13.08 . bogdan Bogdonavic . SF
Injured but has been improving every year and hopefully take another one this year. He also is SG/SF for flex.

14.05 . Jerami Grant SF
A flyer, whose across the board stats looked interesting especially if he starts but in competition at present for that job

12.09 , Dennis Schroder, PG

I had Schroder on my radar for a couple of rounds and apparently was lucky to get him with this pick, thx RSF :). If Russ misses any significant time he will put up great numbers for a 12th round pick. As is he will be the main man off the bench and probably playing a lot of minutes, he'll put up solid points, good ft% and hopefully some solid assist numbers.

13.04 , Markieff Morris,PF

Kieff is starting as of right now but is set to get some nice minutes even when Howard returns. He's not a traditional big man but adds a three a game, doesn't kill fg% or ft% and decent boards. Not much upside here, seems like I've said that for a lot of my picks, am I playing it too safe? Guess we'll see.

14.09, Jonathan Simmons, SF

This is a position choice as much as anything as I wanted another option for SF. Simmons puts up decent points, and won't kill %'s. A three a game and almost a steal would be nice. Hey it's the 14th round if he sticks on the roster all year that would be great.

9.09 Dwight Howard, C, WAS
After 14 seasons, it’s pretty easy to forecast what Howard will provide me. 15-17 points. 12-13 rebounds. 1.5 blocks. Zero 3PM. And a FT% that can kill a fantasy season.

But I need a second starting center, and it’s already very slim pickins’. The projected standings on my draft software shows me going from 8 points to 4 points in FT% after drafting Howard. So maybe he won’t kill my season after all …

10.04 Kent Bazemore, SG ATL
He’s an all-around and consistent contributor with ‘Steals’ being his best contribution. And I need to fill the ‘SG’ slot. But he’s about as exciting as an accounting firm’s Christmas party. I’m hoping that this is the year he makes me want to watch a Hawks game.

11.09 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SG, LAL
When Ryan Rowland-Smith made his debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2007, he became the first player with a hyphenated last name to appear in a major league game. I only bring this up because it’s more interesting than anything I can come up with on this hyphenated-name guy.

He may be boring, but he does contribute in 7 of the 8 categories. And with LeBron James getting the attention … hopefully he’ll fire up 15+ 3-pointers a game.

12.04 Dewayne Dedmon, C, ATL
My draft software shows me falling behind in ‘Blocks’. Dedmon is a rebounding-specialist that can score 10-11 points a night. And he should also average around 1 block a game.

He’s currently banged up with an ankle issue, but hopefully it won’t hold him out past Halloween.

13.09 Rajon Rondo, PG, LAL
Back in the stone age, when I played some ball in college, I preferred to make a good pass rather than take a shot. Rondo is a disciple of this same style of play. He’ll be a valuable contributor for me in ‘Assists’ and ‘Steals’. And more so if he can run as a starter. Because passing to LeBron leads to more assists than passing to undrafted.

14.04 Marcin Gortat, C, LAC
As the 14th man on my roster, I’m looking for a player that is supposed to be a starter now … rather than having upside at some point later in the season. He’s not a sexy pick, but he is currently listed as a starter for the Clippers. He’ll provide basic bottom-end big man stats.

6.07 Paul Millsap,PF, DEN

Honestly I wanted several of the players that went ahead of me,including Nurkic, Teague and Barton. Considering I have a couple if pedestrian scores on board (Gobert, Horford) I knew I wanted a scoring gunner soon as well. That list included LaVine and Russell in particular. But there seemed enough of those guys out there, and these guys are ranked a bit lower so I think they may fall....

....so I take a steady, multi-category performer in Millsap here. A member of the prestigious 1/1/1 club, he does a lot across a variety of categories - something I value here.

7.06 Nicholas Batum, SG, CHA

Well, my strategy of getting a high-ish scoring gunner here went out the window, as D'Angelo Russell, Eric Gordon, Dennis Smith and Dragic all go on this turn. While that was disappointing, another multi-category guy falls in Batum. A year away from his injury that kept him out a month or so last year may help him reach his former glory. Even a full season of his averages last year make this a valued pick.

I wish I had the time and availability (I believe I was in Tokyo Disney during this period) to see if my reliance upon multi-category guys (Horford, Millsap and now Batum - as opposed to category stuffers in certain cats) - will be to my benefit or detriment. I guess we will see.

8.07 Tim Hardaway Jr, SG/SF,NYK

So I get my gunner. With my last 3 picks all being mediocre scorers, I felt I really needed an 18ppg guy here, and Hardaway fits that bill. Hardaway is very likely to be the Knicks' #1 option so there is opportunity for even more. It will certainly be to my fg% detriment, but we all have to absorb some categorical hits as we get into the middle rounds.

9.06 Harrison Barnes, SF, DAL

Barnes does not have a statsheet-stuffing profile, but he does score at around a 17-18ppg clip, which is a need. The arrival of Doncic and the development of Dennis Smith could take shots away from Barnes.....but I prefer to think having those guys will only open things up for Barnes and the Mavs to his benefit. More easy buckets on the break and more wide open threes could provide better fg% to go along with the points.

Ahhhhhhh.....the perils of drafting half a world away. I filled my queue before going to bed but wished I would have been awake for this pick.....not because I do not like Johnson, but because after gettin4g Barnes with the last pick I would not have taken another PF type here.....I would have taken Malcolm Brogdan to round out my guard corps. Oh well....

It's not like Johnson is bad. In 2016 he was in the 1/1/1 club along with 5rpg and nearly 4ast. His numbers were a little down in 2017 but I see him coming closer to 2016's production.

I always loved Reggie after the 3 HR in game 6 of the World Series.

Crap.....wrong Reggie.

The issue with Jackson is health. Players who can put up 18/3/6 type lines are long gone by now. But Jackson just cannot stay healthy so he falls here. In round 11 he is worth the risk....hopefully he plays 60 healthy games.

Dwayne Dedmon was 2nd in my queue.

Played in 76 games averaging 17 mpg last season. He contributed 11 ppg, while shooting a gaudy 63.5% from the floor. If he can rebound a little better, he might have the starting job .

13.02 Spencer Dinwiddie, PG, Bkn

I like Spencer Dinwiddie, as he was a pleasant surprise last year while D’Angelo Russell was injured. He was the only Net to play 80 games last year.

14.11 Mario Hezonja, SF, NY

Hezonja had a mini-breakout at the end of last season. He should step into a sizeable role immediately, as offers a strong steals and threes combination.

15.02 P. J. Tucker, SF, Hou

Tucker’s only competition for the starting Small Forward job is Carmelo Anthony, who may come off the bench. Tucker is going to have to score.

A pick I intended to make! Yes! Jeremy Lamb has always disappointed. It seems for 4 years he has had a chance at a breakout and always gets hurt or is just outperformed. Monk was a high pick for a reason as a long scoring guard with high potential. I think he can still be useful while coming off the bench with 7th round value if he gets a starting role.

At least I get to watch Crabbe locally here

12.06 Jakob Poeltl C SAS

I needed a C eligible player here ( and wouldn't have if I took Bamba ) last round, and needed additional help in blocks.

Jakob is now in San Antonio, Pau has been around forever, and although basically healthy two of the past 3 years, he has had injury issues in the past.

Jakob is as young as Pau is old, so I think he has a reasonable chance of earning decent playing time.
In only 18 min per game last year he averaged 7 points, 5 boards, and 1.2 blocks per game. An uptick with additional PT makes sounds good

Again, needed 3's. Looked at the other dude with a similar name, but he's coming off knee surgery, so...

Bojan doesn't seem to have much competition at the 3 for the Pacers, and rarely misses any games, knock on wood..

He averaged over 14 ppg, over 3 boards, nearly 2 triples per game, but little else.

I'm OK with that with pick 151

14.06 Isaah Thomas PG DEN

Someone would have to take him, may as well be me. I'm actually surprised he didn't get picked earlier.

We all know the deal with Isaah. Yeah, he's been hurt, and yeah lest year was a lost year. But he's only one year removed from an almost MVP season, where he averaged 28.9 points, 6 dimes, 1 steal, 3 RB's and 3.2 treys.

Denver is loaded with offensive talent, and if Isaah makes it back on the court ( probably when, not if ). He probably wont ever approach being the same player he was in Boston. But in round 14, I'd be happy with counting stats at 50% of 2 years ago.

Went with a boring but productive starting wing who shoots well and has been tasked with putting up more 3s this year. Played every game last year averaging 31 minutes, scored 12.5, 3 rb, 2 dimes and shot 42% from 3 and 51% overall with 1 steal per game. If he matches last year, I'll be happy.

13.10 Trey Lyles, PF, DEN

Maybe a bit of a reach here (maybe alot) but I was looking to fill a PF and I didn't like the other options. He's looking like the 6th man for the Nuggets able to play either forward position(in real BB not on ESPN). Paul Millsap is getting older and if Lyles gets a bump from last year's 19 minutes a game (which seems likely), he'll improve upon his 10 points, 5 boards and 1 3pt. He's still only 22 so should also see a natural progression as he approaches his prime.

14.03 Trevor Ariza, SF, PHX

Young guy last pick, old guy this pick. Should contribute points, 3s, steals with a few boards mixed in. Main worry is the competition for minutes at SF for a rebuilding team that should be concentrating on developing its young core. If he starts losing minutes, he'll find himself on the wire.

15.10 Josh Hart, SG, LAL

Lottery ticket selection here. Wanted to add a SG and if he gets the minutes, he'll be a great asset. But that's a big if. Another wire candidate if the minutes don't materialize.

16.03 JJ Barea, PG, DAL

Going into the last 4 picks, I wanted to add 1 of each of the positions except C. He doesn't need to play huge minutes to be a significant source of assists if that category needs help. Locked in as the back up PG, he likely stays on my bench unless an injury either forces one of my players out of the lineup or Dennis Smith misses significant time.

since I am still short at guard stats I looked around at players that provide 3's, assists and steals. the list was not long and the only one who is projected to start is Beverley. I don't mind his low scoring because I am ahead so he is good fit for my team.

13.03 Miles Bridges, SF, CHA
all starters worth something are basically gone. I don't see much upside in picking any of them other than to replace them with the hot pickup in week 1. So I better guess who these players might be.
Bridges has a solid preseason, he is expected to play at 3 positions (sf, pf, c), which should provide my team some position flexibility. he is only 20 and it needs to be seen how he does when the games count.

14.10 Ryan Anderson, PF, LAC
still light on 3's. also need a forward for insurance reasons. would like to get someone who gets 30+ minutes a game. he should fit the bill. not much more to say.

15.03 Jordan Clarkson, PG/SG, CLE
could still use some 3's, assists and steals, so a guard was likely to get picked. not many options out there. Clarkson looked good in limited preseason play, so if he ever gets the minutes in a Lebron-less offense he might be worth something.

There doesn't seem to much love for Reggie out there, although he was taken at pick 158 in another RIBC, so with pick 186, maybe I'm getting him at a discount. Most " expert " drafts seem to ignore him.

It's round 15, and I grabbed a starter, so far so good. Bullock started 52 games last year for the Pistons and posted career highs in every category. Over the final 30 games he averaged 14.8 ppg, 3.3 RB's, 2 assists and 2.6 threes. Even though he contributes nothing in the way of steals or blocks, those numbers seem OK to me.

I'm curious as to how ESPN calculates position eligibility as they have him as a SF, and he in fact started 32 games at SG

Got to love the name.

I never thought I'd draft Nerlens, but with my last pick, why not. It seems for ever we've been gushing about his ability to fill the box score. Well, for some reason he seems to be injured, maybe in the wrong situation, or maybe just not good enough.

He now finds himself in OKC. Steven Adams is firmly entrenched as the starter, and I know that isn't changing anytime soon. But we keep saying, if only Nerlens can get playing time.

Just noticed, the other night, in 34 minutes, 14 Boards, 2 dimes, 3 steals, 2 blocks.

Yeah, preseason I know., but in round 16, why not. If he is tied to the bench, the waiver wire might be calling his name.

Trey might give me some decent assists but not much else. I also had Mills right under him in the que which would have been nice seeing how he is probably starting now in San Antonio.

This is a flier, hoping he can stay reasonably healthy and put up some numbers. He would help in 3's and possibly steals and he's played over 20 minutes in b2b preseason games. Also had Dirk on my que and might have considered Chriss if he was still there.

He’s getting older, but isn’t Vince Carter or Pau Gasol old. He’s still listed as a starter, but has competition behind him, so who knows how much run he actually receives. If he gets comparable numbers to last season, he’ll likely get some time in my starting lineup.

16.04 Wesley Matthews, SG, DAL
After filling my 12 starting lineup slots … I had four bench slots to fill. The ages of the first three are 32, 32, & 34. I need to add some youth to the bench. 31-year-old Wesley Matthews is that guy!

He’s not the player he was in Portland, and appears likely to lose some of his minutes to younger Mavericks, but he’ll provide an ample number of 3pts and steals.

Well....at the end of the draft you are going for highly marginal starters or bench guys that can offer production with upside if their situation changes. Hernangomez has always been a stats per minute monster, racking up pts and reb in limited minutes. He must he awful on defense because he certainly seems to produce from a fantasy perspective. There is literally no chance that Kyrie plays 82 games. Scary Terry proved last season that he is a starting level PG and filled in admirably during Kyrie's multiple absences. He should also hold standalone value backing up both guard slots. A fair chance that he lives up to his moniker of #1 handcuff in fantasy basketball.

14.01, Alex Len, C, ATL

Ideally wanted a F eligible here, but the best players, ironically at this stage, i thought were centers. I went with Len over Zeller and Willy because he had a clearer path to minutes with Dedmon out.

15.12, Danny Green, GF, TOR

Really wanted Jason Hart here but he was snapped up 2 picks before. That one hurt. Green seems to under and overwhelm in equal measure, but I'm hoping for some more consistency and usage in Toronto. Also that GF swing is very handy.

16.01, Krystaps Porzingis, PF, NYK

If I'd known about White going down, i probably would have selected another player who could contribute immediately. Still KP with my final pick holds zero risk and could have a huge upside. His return date is unknown and he may not play at all this season. But if he does, it could be a season definer if i can get him back for the home stretch.
