Finally, the long awaited ground rules for the Gurupie Manager Draft game. Please note that since the number of interested Gurupies is still in question, the quantities mentioned below are very general and will be updated to reflect the final number of teams involved.
== Three divisions (up to 5 if necessary) == Even and set number of teams per division == Teams can be from any TSN division == No team switches (ie., no team manager can switch his/her team during the game) == All teams entered will be drafted == After 2 weeks a set number of teams will be dropped into a waiver pool == Waiver pool teams will be included in all stats and standings == At two-week intervals division managers can switch one division team with a waiver pool team == Order of waiver selection will be determined by the current standings in reverse order == Teams will not be traded between divisions although any team may be selected from the pool
== All teams will start out on the same footing. Teams that get placed in the waiver pool (think AAA baseball standings) will have many opportunities to make one of the divisions. Heck, the waiver pool could just form their own division as far as I’m concerned. But I digress.
== Medium speed live draft (between slow and fast, eh!) == Snake format
== The division with the highest final scoring average wins
== Dates (assuming divisional managers confirm them): == Team registration deadline is Monday, October 22. == Live draft will be held Wednesday, October 24. == Game on: October 30. Mark your calendars!!
I’m going to take the liberty of starting yet another team and id request thread. Please post your Gurupie name, your team name, and your team id. I'll consolidate any data from earlier threads but double check my info just in case. Any questions, post ‘em.

I'm in, embarassing resume to follow (did't realize how bad until I checked the old standings).
2000: 850ish 2001: 3500ish
Finished last year with a bunch of trades, I wasn't doing great, and I think buisness travel last spring led to my folding the tents a little early. First and only time I've packed it in early in SW/TSN.
2001 Baseball 31st and 80th

BTW this team was just created, so I'm guessing we're up to about 2250 teams so far.

As I said in the other thread I'm a sleeper pick:) I was top 100 for a bit last year but lost interest near the end of the year (don't worry it wont happen this year now that its pay) and finished with a wwr of 467. I had 24 trades remaining and easily in my mind could have been top 100 if I had actually sit down and used them.

BW, We need to hold off on setting the draft order until we know how many managers are going to be involved. And I still haven't officially accepted a managerial role... the standings are usually more than enough to kill my teams.

Also, I've been working on my dodgeball accuracy, so maybe, if it's a close race, I could take out some opposing manager?

Actually, I counted 35 here. Not sure if that is right or not, but you figure it's right around there (34-36). I'm sure there are others who would like to play. As long as we get 45 people we'll be fine. That would make 3 nice divisions of 15 people each.
I also like the idea of publicising the draft to let people see who was picked and what order. Could be fun, and even nerv racking, if not everyone was chosen, but that's not the case :)

I'm envisioning a live draft on the board, but it's not all up to me. Ideally I think we would have 60 teams involved. That would either give us 3 teams of 15 (with a pool of 15) or 4 teams of 12 with a (pool of 12)(my preference). We'll see who else signs up...
Originally BW and I thought that this coming Wed would be a good day for the draft, but no dates are set in stone. As it turns out (ok, I forgot), I'll be busy this Wed night hanging out with a couple Gurupie buds of mine, so Wednesday isn't such a good night...

Shelby and BW, I'm out for Wednesday night. Can we change to draft to Thurdsay eve? And try to set a time? Say 10pm? or something convenient to everyone? I also propose that the sign-ups be kept open until the draft. Thoughts...
By my count we have 43+ teams playing... Can we get to 50?

At this point, Thursday is fine. But it would depend on if the sadsack Mariners can force a game 7 (highly unlikely) against the gritty, veteran Yankees. They would play at 8pm on Thurs in this most unlikeliest of unlikely scenarios.
I'm also against waiver wires, free agents, and etc. Dropouts are just part of the game.

I seem to finish better than I start. That may be the reason I rank higher in the MS games.
PRIDE - I'm just glad he didn't start Nedny over Hall. I'll either have a 2 game lead or it'll be one tight race after this weekend. Out of 5 Sandbox teams, this is the only one doing great. I've got one team 1-5 in the 14 team keeper league.

Hi, if you still have room for me, I'd be interested.
I haven't kept exact track of my Hoops records, but they go a little something like this.
'00-'01: mid 100's '99-'00: 3000+ '98-'99: 5000+ '97-'98: who knows
Oh yeah, and I run the games too, that must count for something. ;)

Ok. Here's the lastest tally of managers involved in the GMD game, and a ton of great managers are playing. Gurupies with a single asterisk (*) by their name submitted a team in an earlier thread. Gurupies with double asterisks (**) expressed interest at one point but have not submitted team IDs.
This is the final push. Your team needs to be entered ASAP. If you're interested and will stick with your team all year, feel free to enter the competition...

Have heard neither hide nor hair of Bethesda Panthers for some time, but you're not the first to as about him. Lionprideguy? No idea. WAB's been sighted very recently but doesn't (IIRC) play SW anymore. Pun has also phased out of SW (if not fantasy sports). Don't know where Mr. Yellowbock is, although I'm surprised he's not around. J is a scrub. The Source? I thought he was still hanging around the Politics Forum. Not sure, but there's lots for him to discuss if he is there... Israelian Guru has been silent as far as I know. It's possible Guru would know? He was in RotoGuru's Own last year.

Wasn't going to do the pay game because of my travel--but if we were to do it this way--then perhaps I would be able to have people cover my teams at a moment's notice...I think this is a fabulous idea...
So if I have this right...you will use our teams like a fantasy player, correct? Sorry I have been so busy that I've barely had time to make trades in football.

I'm doing great, thanks for asking (my bro is good too). No longer at SW(tsn)- haven't been there since april. Been travelling for much of the past few months so I didn't play sw baseball this year, but I'm back for hoops. I'm sure I'll see you atop the leaderboards...
