Michael Savage causes backlash by calling autistic children "brats"
"In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is." The talk show host also said, "Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot."
Meanwhile, his syndicate bends over for him:
"The network is satisfied that he did not mean any disrespect to autistic children or their families, but was, instead, reiterating his longstanding concerns on public health issues." |

Wow.
Before we lynch him, I'd like to see the full context of what he said and how he said it given it's an MSM outlet attacking a conservative during an election year.
A friend of mine has a child with autism. Very sad.

Boxman, What's stopping you from finding the full context of what he said, given that you're willing to lynch an MSM outlet(whatever that is)without full disclosure?
And Savage isn't a conservative. He's a radical egomaniac.

"Now, you want me to tell you my opinion on autism, since I'm not talking about autism? A fraud, a racket. For a long while, we were hearing that every minority child had asthma. Why did they sudden -- why was there an asthma epidemic amongst minority children? Because I'll tell you why: The children got extra welfare if they were disabled, and they got extra help in school. It was a money racket. Everyone went in and was told [fake cough], "When the nurse looks at you, you go [fake cough], 'I don't know, the dust got me.' " See, everyone had asthma from the minority community. That was number one. Now, the illness du jour is autism. You know what autism is? I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, "Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot." Autism -- everybody has an illness. If I behaved like a fool, my father called me a fool. And he said to me, "Don't behave like a fool." The worst thing he said -- "Don't behave like a fool. Don't be anybody's dummy. Don't sound like an idiot. Don't act like a girl. Don't cry." That's what I was raised with. That's what you should raise your children with. Stop with the sensitivity training. You're turning your son into a girl, and you're turning your nation into a nation of losers and beaten men." Link to the words

wouldn't be the first time Savage lost his job for being a dick.
certainly i'm not the only one here who remembers when he wished AIDS on a caller to his show.
and let's not forget some of his vile anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim statements, including the ones where he called for the deportation of Muslims.

I've always wondered why Disney is considered the MSM but Clear Channel isn't. Even though Talk Radio Network is considered an independent network, Premiere(owned by Clear Channel)handles all their national advertising, which is basically all the advertising for national syndication. The same is true for Limbaugh's fallaciously titled EIB network, except that actually is part of Premiere.
Next time you listen to Savage, see how many local Bay Area ads there are in a stop set.
Hint - none.

I don't know him from Adam. I'm not familiar with his style that much if at all. Was he trying to be funny?
If he was serious, maybe a week or so in a class with children with autism will wisen him up and he can see how many of them are faking it.

Savage isn't my guy. That said I personally am guessing that on the fly he confused ADHD with autism. Because autism just makes no sense with his argument [probably not even to him] and there are all kinds of question marks regarding ADHD which isn't even a recognised condition in many countries and is probably a disease invented to fit the pill someone was pushing. Just the kind of issue a conservative would be exercised about and one that actually responds to parenting.
