Sounds like the Supreme Court is losing a great Justice.

There could be quite a bit of turn-over of the next several years. That could be Obama's true legacy

I am not sure if any of Obama's 1st term appointments will affect the makeup of the court. Alito and Roberts were just appointed and Scalia and Thomas don't seem close to retirement. Kind of amazing how unrepresentative the makeup of the court is relative to the population. 4 out of 9 justices that are pretty clearly staunch conservatives. The Supreme Court should have more moderates, like Souther, than it does right now.

Justice Ayres?

Justice Wright?

Justice Ahmadinejad?

He'll save the Ayers nomination for a second term...if he has one.

The country may have fallen apart by then.

Which party is going to nominate a moderate?
Who is going to waste their choice on a moderate?
I don't think Republicans were happy with Souter as a choice. And then he retires while a Democrat is in charge. The ultimate ungrateful back-stabber.....from a Republican point of view.
