His legacy of fighting for the underdog will be difficult to match.

His track record speaks for itself. For one man to help so many with the significant roles he played legislation such as the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, for starters, is an impressive feat.

Ted Kennedy is going to be missed.

Some statements collected on TPM.

I'm particularly moved by John McCain's statement.

He'll be buried at Arlington, perhaps near his brother.

i liked what Nancy Reagan had to say.

I was terribly saddened to hear of the death of Ted Kennedy tonight. Given our political differences, people are sometimes surprised by how close Ronnie and I have been to the Kennedy family. But Ronnie and Ted could always find common ground, and they had great respect for one another. In recent years, Ted and I found our common ground in stem cell research, and I considered him an ally and a dear friend. I will miss him.

Perhaps the most liberal, effective voice in the Senate in the past 50 years. Certainly will be missed.
