Kafenatid will work just fine, only we may need shorter periods like 3 or 2 hours, something like that. Or gradually shrinking intervals.

AFAIK I do not have commisioner access and do not know if everyone has set their keepers on the Yahoo site.
Since Tree has not chosen to share the commishing, he should set a deadline and then freeze the keepers and enter them at Kafenatid.

And the kafenatid league is paid for and can be put in place as soon as we have keepers to input so we can kick it off.
I go on a Minnesota midweek vacation starting Monday but I'm not going to let that slow us down. I'll just have to follow along on I-phone.

yahoo now has a keeper function that makes it pretty functional.
for now, i've set the keeper deadline is Fri Aug 31 2:00am CDT.
for now, i've set a live draft for - Sun Sep 2 5:00pm CDT.
i understand one of our league regulars has been banned for a day. i'll repost this on the league site.

There are currently 11 teams signed up in the league. If Wiggs is out, rather than trying to find a replacement at this late date, suggest we go with 10 teams if we can all do a fast Yahoo draft on Sunday.
Otherwise, I doubt we'll have enough time to do a Kafe draft in time for the season opener unless it starts like tomorrow with a very short time limit.

Are you trying to kill the league? Hell no.
1) Just put two manager openings on offer. 2) Accept the candidates. 3) Get the keepers written in stone. 4) Start the kafenatid whenever we hit 1,2,3.
Anything less will destroy the keeper structure.

no, i'm not trying to kill the league. i'm trying to salvage it, and at least play a season with managers i enjoy playing fantasy football with. i played in an autodraft league last season, and it turned out to be a lot of fun.
the response has been minimal. we can't get more than a couple managers to chime in on when a good draft time would be.
i don't even think we've had two people come in to offer to replace current teams - Weykool being one, i'm not sure who the other is.
Kafenatid isn't going to work. we'll easily miss the first two weeks of the season. what's the point there.
Anything less will destroy the keeper structure.
not in the least. it presents two options.
1. use the 2011 teams (last season) to pick our keepers for next season. 2. blow it up, and start all over in 2013. it might be damned fun to have a keeper league draft from scratch again.

I'm thinkin MBJ reups with that crew.
Wiggs would be reuping with Brandon Marshall, Andre Johnson, Steven Jackson, Cribbs/Big Ben.

WTF You are now planning to start the day before the season starts a DRAFTIME (AKA Kafenatid) slow pick that I paid for and arranged with Fred to have tree/Baldwin set the league and get started 18 days ago.
On Thursday, August 16, 2012, donny@swiftif.com wrote:
Draftime Fantasy Sports Draft Manager From: Donny Miller aka taxman E-mail: donny@swiftif.com Subject: draft for polifootball league Do I have credits left, if not, please e-mail me your address and I will restock the piggy bank. Winston Smith aka Baldwin on guru boards baldwin61354@yahoo.com OR josh aka Tree on guru boards rabbi_cuervo@yahoo.com will be running our draft as commissioner or co=commissioners I will ask them to send you an e-mail tonight to set up a league for 2012 football season for the polileague thanks I hope everything is well with you
I've made the mistake of looking at the draft time set on our yahoo league. I changed my family's entire holiday to be at draft this afternoon, not to mention the 90 minutes to set "yahoo's Pre-Draft Player Ranking. But saw at noon today, draft changed to 10:30 PM tonight... so I jerked my wife and one of my kids around again to be @ computer for 10:30 draft. Now you want a slow draft to start the day before season begins. IDIOTS
My current inclination is to pack it in and let you play with a 9 team league. I am going to need a damn good explanation of why this has been delayed foe three weeks..then rescheduled w/o e-mail notice or posting on yahoo league page. Clearly I don't follow poli thread anymore with the self rightous nimrods that have it caused Guru to shut the poli thread down. So someone should have been sending e-mails or texts to notify of changes and an explanation would be good also.
Can't believe I was so naive to screw up my holiday for this league and these managers.
Thanks guys. Won't be hard to remember this one.

A) Poliboard has been up for six days.
B) Wiggs can't be nailed down to sign up, always just thiiiis close to being in.
C) Just found out today league founding member MBJ chose this year to bug out. I don't have his email addy. Those who do should have been more insistent on a reply, like the commish maybe.
D) Half of us were on vacation parts or all of last week. This is what we came home to.
E) I don't have enuff contact numbers to even think of doing league business over email but I did just take the bull by the horns today, became commish today and I am very very very determined to get this done post haste and with the right number of managers.

Wiggs cant be nailed down?
1) I havent received 1 email, text or phone call about the league.
2) I was the 1st one to sign up for this league 3 weeks ago or when ever it was sent out.
3) I told you back on 8/28 I was out and you could play with 10.
What more did you want from me? This league was extremely unorganized this year, seemed like no one really wanted to play.

in regards to the live draft, i genuinely thought we were heading that way as time was running out.
i kept moving it back and around to accommodate the needs of the managers posting here. when it appeared that the league was leaning toward starting the season 2 weeks late and going with a slow draft (something baffling to me), i changed the draft type from live draft to off line draft.
as for messages, we've always used these boards for communications. that being said, Yahoo should be emailing every time drafts move around or anything. if you weren't receiving those emails, they may have gone into your spam filter - oddly, Yahoo sometimes sends its own emails into spam.

Wiggs
Can you do a slow draft the way we usually do? If you can sign up on Yahoo. And we can start Tuesday assuming Taxman and Weykool cooperate. If we must, and Taxman can't be pacified, DWetz and Weykool can go Tuesday instead.
If Wiggs and Taxman won't go we need even one more alternate manager besides Weykool and DWetz. We better prepare for any eventuality.

See, this is typical of the problems we have been having in communication.
Did Wiggs just say he is out, no matter what? What does 'I can't do a live draft' mean? Does that mean he can't do a slow draft or that he can't set aside a whole evening for a fast draft?
DWetz even volunteered to do the draft for Wiggs, with Wiggs retaining the team. Which Wiggs didn't respond to.
---------
Best I can figure out is that we should...
1) Have DWetz do the draft and if Wiggs still wants the team, see if DWetz is still ok with returning it. I think that choice should be DWetz'. Get DWetz' agreement to definately do the draft and get him to sign up on Yahoo.
DWetz, please send me your email address so that I can send you the Yahoo invite.
2) Have Weykool take MBJ's team for sure. Can anyone give me Weykool's email addy?
3) Confirm Taxman will stay with us for a slow draft starting Tuesday. I have his email address and have emailed him.
4) Figure out a fallback manager in case Taxman cannot accept the difficulties we have had.
Realistically I need DWetz, Weycool and Taxman to stay in communication on the rotoguru site. Yahoo emails don't reach prospective managers and I don't have everyone's contact info.
Use Rotoguru.

Problem:
Tho I am sub-commish, Tree still has the ultimate controls on the present Yahoo league...
For whatever reason I cannot see who is a declared keeper on Yahoo so I can enter them in kafenatid, so I need the keepers of:
1Taxman 2Clyde 3bili 4Tree 5Astade 6PV 7B7 8Skeepers 9Vampirez/Arthur
...in no particular order.
Plenty of drama today. The engine blew up in my work van. I'll try and soldier on despite plenty of distractions here. I'm hoping kafenatid controls are easy enuff to master tomorrow without finagling with it all day.

Traditionally, we have posted our keepers here on Rotoguru. That has allowed us to better prepare for the draft by seeing what players are available by perusing other manager's teams from the prior year.
Kafenatid doesn't have a system like Yahoo where you can isolate positions, where they're ranked accordingly. It's just an alphabetical listing of every player in the system.
So, why are managers being asked to email their keepers to the commissioner instead of posting them here? After receiving the emails, are those keepers going to be listed here(extra work) or are we going to have to scroll through hundreds of players in a hit or miss attempt to figure out who's available?

I'd rather have them here, much rather, but some managers have pointedly made it an issue that they'd rather get email contact and they aren't Poliboard habitue and don't plan on becoming such.
They will all be visible on kafenatid and I'll post them here later.
Just got back from a court date. Had to evict a non-rent paying drug dealer whom the city had ordered us to evict or have the city steal our apt bldg.

MESSAGE TO FORWARD TO MANAGERS
To sign up for your league draft, please go to the Draft Registration page and click the "Join Draft" button.
You will need a Draftime.com username and password to register for your draft. If you do not have a Draftime.com username and password, you can register for one at the Registration page.
If the Draft Registration Page above does not work, go to http://www.draftime.com, click the "Join a Draft" button, and enter the Draft Password: [see password in email]

PV is on the clock and Skeepers picks next. I would expect they act sooner rather than later.
Gotta rest a tad but I bounce up and down.
It will take me about 50 minutes to input the keepers again. Kinda tedious process. But we can keep picking on the rotoguru draft thread as bili pointed out in the meantime.
I verified that I can force the previous picks into the new non-snake draft and we can pick up where we actually are without waiting for managers to re-enter them.

As you can see from the draft thread I picked Vick and Weykool is up in the draft.
We are using the rotoguru site to continue the draft until Boikin figures out how to get his team entered into the new kafenatid drafttime non-snake draft.
It is a bad idea to use the old kafenatid draft any further because each time a pick is made it sends out a notice directing drafters to the wrong draft further confusing people like Boikin.

I'm sure that's how Boikin's mind was blown. The old draft looked so like the new draft since it actively sent him a notice.
I have to confess the kafenatid site frequently gives me the feeling like 'you can't get there from here', and I don't blame anyone being confused there. Tho I think they should keep at it until they figure it out.

Boikin, listen to me.
1) Open drafttime in a browser and log in.
2) In another browser open your email program. Find the last yahoo message. It will include the message http://www.draftime.com/draft_register.php?p=[xxxxxxxx9R]
If the browser shows that to you as a functional link, click it and you will be done!
If it shows you the HTML above not in active link form, merely cut and paste the address from your yahoo message into a browser URL address bar window at the top of the page, hit enter on your computer and again you will be finished!
It...is...easy.

We still don't have enuff managers atm. Even when WG signs up that only solves Taxman. We are still short one Boikin.
Everyone except willing alternate managers, take two hours off. No need to check in. It will take at least that long to sign one or two managers up and enter the keepers into kafenatid.

Frankly this league is a complete joke this season. And when people are suggesting that people might need to be replaced because they didn't notice there was a 15th F-Up at the top of the League, it's too far. This league just needs to take a season off as the fun is gone.

i'm with Punk at this point. this is why i've been against drafting in more than one place (it NEVER made sense to me), and why i wanted to do a fast draft.
it's nearly noon on the east coast, and not one pick has been made today.
no blame on any one person, but it's always been a pain to get everyone organized for this draft, we've always waited until the last second, and sooner or later it would burn us.
that burn is now.

Clyde recommends we start a 3rd draft on ESPN or CBS. That will clear everything up right quick!
If y'all can't keep some semblance of humor about this, I am pretty well done. I'm fairly confident that if we don't do a league this year, that will be the end. And that's fine. It was a nice run.

BTW does anyone know how you would actually do co-managing in a Yahoo League? Anyone ever done it in any league?
Tip: maybe I am the last person to think of it, but you can adjust the resolution of the screen so that the drafttime grid is small enuff to be entirely visible on one screen.
You can also set the controls to shrink and magnify the view anytime you want conveniently by customizing the toolbar. I added a plus and minus to the far left of my toolbar and I use that function so often you wouldn't believe it. Instant magnification...it's great.

A quirk about this league, to new managers...
The 'flex position' in this league is limited to WR or RB.
If you had Gronk and Aaron Hernandez you'd be out of luck, one would have to sit.
Any interest this early in the draft, to voting on making the flex position WR/RB/TE?

Again, I have trouble with kafenatid. I had a 4 player queue set to go off last pick and I thot it was set on autopick and it didn't go off when my turn came up. Fortunately I wasn't asleep.
The controls seem simpler than last time I used drafttime, but it didn't work...I'll keep experimenting.

My 11 man Q is long enuff to get past the next pick and I am off to bed for a few. Tho of course I am so psyched you know I'll bounce back up in 15 minutes. Love drafts.
Most of the people who draft right after me are designted pickers in case I haven't figured out the auto-pick function.

Every time I was a designated picker for anyone in the past, I could see at least the first person in the Queue of the person I was picking for.
According to the email I was Tree's designated picker but I couldn't see anyone in his queue. I used admin override and then I could see his queue. I assume from the email he wanted me to exercise his queue, but I'm still confused.

Looking back on the comments, Wiggs was adamant that he wouldn't do a fast draft at any time. Or a slow draft it turns out. Astade had to play golf on Monday. That only eliminates daytime hours. Punk was OK on Tuesday after 10:30 PM EST.
Granted, 10:30 is late to draft for our Eastern time zone managers, and I have no idea how many managers fall into that category. However, the critical rounds are over within 45 minutes, and mangers can use autodraft, if necessary, to round out the last few picks. Had we drafted Tuesday night, we probably could have played an entire season as well.
But hindsight is 20/20. Every year this slow draft takes almost 2 weeks. For me, that's simply too much time to devote to an activity for which my passion has waned in the past few years. I appreciate the effort Boldwin has put forth trying to save this season, and, as always, I'll give 100% til the end. But next year, if the consensus is to continue with a slow draft, you'll probably need to replace me.

We've bent over backwards for other individual needs, and tomorrow is mine.

a one round queue? yea, i'd do that. but who i take in a given round can depend entirely on who was taken previously.
and why the heck can we not hold up the draft for one person? we didn't do a live draft one night because of one person. we didn't do a live draft another night because of one person.

I'm curious about the Daryl Washington pick. Looking carefully at him, he really is a very intriguing pick. Maybe you did deliberately pick him well before the IDP's started flying off the board. That is very unusual for this league.
But if that was a queue malfunction, speak up quick and we'll let you make a more traditional pick. I can't physically change your drafttime grid, but I can remove that player and remove a player of your choosing and enter it in your Yahoo team.
A few others have indicated queue malfunctions. If the pick doesn't look terribly out of place I am less inclined to allow do-overs. I'll listen.

Tennessee WR kinda got too crowded for Britt's value in my estimation. I like Wright and Washington and Britt's health, and weak QB to cut into his scoring. But taking him this late was good value.

I know what you mean. Starting kinda late, and then getting hit with a ten day forum shutdown, a commish that wasn't really into it...it's been frightening really.
On the plus side we've just had two days that looked like they were gonna be disasters turn into 3+ round dashes I was very pleased with.
Lots of people using autopick without delays set. Nearing half the managers.
More people than I've ever seen, actually setting queues and pickers.
Not one single problem manager who always takes half a day.
We are a round ahead of my schedule.
There's a lot to like here. We might actually make a silk purse out of this sow's ear.

Setting a 12 player Q just refined my strategy dramatically. Identified players I liked that will slip longer, sorted thru player upsides, made plan B's...I'm starting to think being forced to put together a long Queue helps the manager more than it helps the league. --- QB, starting RB's and TE are better set than I've ever had.
I was happy to get 5 WR I believe will all get 1000 yd years...
I was very happy to get Cutler a round later than I thot he'd last. I'm from Chicago. That was a big deal. They didn't give him a left tackle yet but everything else looks reeeeal good.
...the downside of getting my perfect #2 QB is that in the meantime the backup RB's got picked over so fast and furious and thoroughly it was beyond belief those last two rounds. Wow. It's like I may have to draft Tomlinson and pray he makes a miracle comeback.
And my two starting RB's have the same Bye week. Doh!

you really think Floyd, Heyward-Bey, and Bowe are going to be 1000 yard WRs?
i left a queue for 3 rounds. when it's done, it's done.
i'm leaving in about 30 minutes.
odds are i won't be back around a computer or anything fantasy football related until 3 in the morning central time, and at that point i'll hopefully be celebrating with my girlfriend her team winning the Dallas Derby Devils championship tonight.

you really think Floyd, Heyward-Bey, and Bowe are going to be 1000 yard WRs? - Tree
1) My WR#2 Dwayne Bowe. He gets 1,100 yds+ every year. Why not?
2) My WR#4 Heyward-Bey, before his year-3 happened I would have scoffed along with you.
One year and 975 yds later and looking forward to a full year of Carson Palmer, I am 100% buyin it.
3) My #5 WR Floyd...I guarantee he'll be on pace to when he gets injured.
Great QB, V-Jack gone, 17.9 yds per catch. Main competition for #1 WR on that team [Brown] out for 8 weeks.

The sooner you three add your teams, the sooner I can get a jump on entering the players into Yahoo, no small task.
Sorry I didn't get you in earlier, but I was dreading complications from having passed the keeper deadline without a full set of managers. I had to get past a 'finalize teams' button that I was afraid would lock the [wrong] teams in place and screw our keeper league up. I had to get past that button to see the mechanics of fixing the league. Wasn't entirely sure it could be done.
You think this is easy?

I don't know what timezone Amir is from, but he's been up all nite and it's 9:30 central time.
We are in the last few IDP picks stage, I don't think anyone's team is going to be devasted if they get skipped by a few managers if it comes to that.

Unfortunately I made a really bad mistake. I confused one league's settings with another [I did check, I just checked the wrong open window] and thot there was one more slot I could stick a receiver than there is. I might be sitting with RG3 if I hadn't been trying to fill an extra flex slot. That one is gonna gall me for a long time.

Don't get me wrong, I love the guy and don't hold 'tude against him.
I think he's got everything a QB could need except size, speed and a Left Tackle, ok an entire cohesive O-line.
He's got a perfect arm, throws laser beams, deadly accurate, reads well. When he's asked to do the impossible he starts throwing off the wrong foot, into impossible places but no more so than Brett Favre. He's elusive tho not fast, aware in the pocket. He's fearless and plays thru any kind of pain without complaining, no matter what the media told you otherwise.
Bear Report:
The Bears are one left tackle away from dominating everything they survey. Webb is the slightly undersized cousin of a famous ex-lineman and he doesn't seem to have any heart or the work ethic to perfect his craft. Bears management think the potential is there, which is why they haven't fixed this screaming need. Bears replaced Spencer this week at LG with a veteran who prides himself on playing nasty and with a lot of emotion which supposedly sent a message to Webb at LT. The Bears really don't want to go from 330# Webb to even smaller 320# Chris Williams LT if they can help it.
Dan Hampton ripping Webb on the radio for technique, playing too upright, should be staying after practice perfecting craft.
First rounder Gabe Carimi on the other end I think is gonna eventually be slightly better than average if the chronic knee problems let him. He's not there yet.
Center and RG, passable. --- Defensive line is the best I can remember. Hitting on all cylinders. Just a couple years ago the D-line was just horrible. No pressure. Rookie McClellin is so the real deal. Very exciting. Just doubling Peppers is no longer all it takes. Melton started out hot again. There seems to be some depth on the D-line even.
Great LB's have a couple more year's tread left hopefully.
The Bear's have over the years let a couple great safeties go to save money, Mike Brown and inexplicably soured on Chris Harris over tweets and a hamstring. That position has been a disaster ever since. They drafted safeties for the last eight years.
They rarely draft pure corners or have much speed, but at least Tillman is a genuine football playing man among boys tho not fast. CB Jennings got a good contract and is en entirely different player, on fire. I don't know if he has the talent to keep it up but so far this year he is stellar. Tillman says this is the best group of corners he's ever worked with, but I remember Nathan Vasher so...
You'd think those safeties and relatively slow corners would really get worked over but the whole defensive system is clicking.

Let me know what you think about this theory. I get the impression the Bears figure you have to save money somewhere, you can't give every last player the big bucks, and safety and corner are where they are gonna cut corners. [They also haven't spent anything on WR but I know that idea doesn't work.
So here's the theory. Doesn't it make sense that safety is a great place to find/stick a college superstar 'football smart' kid who just didn't have the size to play pro?
Is that at work in your home team? Where does your team cut corners?
Talk amongst yourselves.

The Bills have, for the last decade or so, cut corners (so to speak) at o-line and defensive end. That seems to have changed this year, which is good. Their 4 SB appearances were made possible by Bruce Smith and a solid O-line.
They have always made sure they have very good corners, but I they don't necessarily keep them. They simply let them move on before they have to pay them the big bucks. I think it's a position where you can make an immediate impact right out of college, so it seems like a smart way to use draft picks.

I am not abandoning my two keeper teams
not even sure what this means. you were one loss away from making the playoffs. you have three players in the top 50 in the game, one of whom was traded to you, one of whom is a 34-year-old WR, and the third of whom is a TE with a broken arm who may or may not be back before the fantasy playoffs end.
you lost 3 of your last 5 games. you don't have a bad team, and it's certainly good enough to win the whole thing, but it's a downward trending squad with a medium cast of keepers, certainly not enough to field two squads.

i don't think anyone here has been timid about your rabid jackassery.
imho, the reasons you've had posts pulled, aside from the constant insulting of posters, our president, and anyone to the left of far radical right wing; is the fact that you will make an argument, be proven wrong rather quickly, and then instead of responding to your original argument or the response that disputed, you'll resort to attack mode, and completely ignore the original discussion.
i could EASILY go back and find a half dozen examples in November of you doing that.

Downside to the week. I go out in first round of playoffs.
Plus of the week:
In my other league I and the guy leading the league in points were on the outside looking in on next weeks start of the 4 team playoffs.
In order to sneak into the playoffs:
1) I would need to beat the manager in sole first place at 11-2. [whom I was playing]
2) I would need the league leader in points to beat the team he faced this week. [which was leading me by a game]
3) I would need to beat the league leader in points by 88 points. [tie breaker]
Mission accomplished. 229 pts - in the playoffs.
Poor founder of the league and commish actually ended up leading the league in pts [beating me by 5 pts] and finishing 7-7.

plus side of the week - your loss assures me of two of the top 8 picks in the draft next season.

Have to draft behind Tree next year. And no first round pick.
Tree had no RGIII [played Kaepernick] but then I was missing three of my keepers today. --- In my other keeper league I crushed the guy with the 11-3 record for the second week in a row, second week in a row highest score of the week, far and away highest score for the year.
Had to go with Kaepernick in place of my injured RGIII. I couldn't have made playoffs without Danario Alexander's @30 pts last week. He scored zero this week.
I meet my son for championship game.

Tree really likes the guys I tend to pick. Would you guys have hated me as much as I would have hated myself if I had taken a dive this week?

Wow, in my other keeper league 6 teams in the playoffs [consolation + championship brackets] scored 180 points or better. Two scored over 200.
But my son wasn't one of them. I win the championship.

Indeed GO proves it aint braggin' if you can back it up.
I'm still trying to fully grasp that thing you did with pitching.
Dearly wish we still had a Poliboard Basketball League to see if you could get the trifecta in one year.
I don't think I've ever won any Poliboard league since GO started with us, and that's just one more reason this league rocks so hard. One more mountain to climb.

FWIW, i don't feel as if i've lost him.
he may pull an AP and be back at better than ever. he may come back slowly. he may not come back at all.
but the high reward clearly overcomes the high risk in this case. RG3 is too good, too athletic, too talented to get cut loose in a keeper league, and in the league where i own him, i'm keeping him.
and in the leagues that i don't, if someone drops him, i will leap on him in the draft if given the opportunity.

RGIII is gonna be for sale in F101. I just can't keep him... it would mean cutting lose Gronkowski who I just love.

Take away RGIII's running entirely and I still love him. As scary accurate and strong a deep ball as I've ever seen and smart as a whip with it.
