MANY years ago, I used to do table top miniatures naval war using Larry Bonds excellent HARPOON rules. Then in the 90s, 360 Pacific released HARPOON as a computer sim and I REALLY enjoyed that. There really hasnt been a good sim since but now I find this.

Command: Modern Naval and Air Operations

This title looks like a thorough and well executed bit of software for exactly what I want. It is however $80. (Given the in depth DB required, really not at all out of line) But before I drop $80 on what is in reality a game, I'd like to hear from someone who has had their hands on it. Is there such a person here by chance, OR, does anyone here KNOW such a person? Yes, I have read the reviews and they glow, telling me pretty much what I expect to hear. But there is a "trust" level, that comes from folks you sorta know, ie...this group.

Sim went on sale for $50, bought it. It is precisely as indicated. A very intense and in depth simulator for air and naval combat, post WWII. DB contains virtually every sensor array and naval/air weapons platform from the past 55 or so years.

Gonna take 6 months to get familiar with ALL of the workings, but this is a 1st class sim.
