Subject: Strat-o-Baseball Free Agent suggestion

I think after playing for a week or so now I have a mixed feelings about the 20% loss on releasing free agents. It sort of convinces you to stick with your team as is even if certain players aren't panning out how you'd hoped.

I think maybe you should have the option of like 5 releases (maybe a few more or less) throughout the season where you get 100% back. But you don't have to take them, that way if your first release is a 500K guy you don't waste a freebie just to save 100K. does that make sense?

I agree that 80% seems a bit too much. 90% would be better. Also, perhaps players who are released should stay at their release value for other players who may wish to pick them up. Sort of like a waiver wire.

I'm in the middle. I see your point but on the
other hand, whats the point of trading if you
could pick up free agents easier...

All fair points. Maybe 90% is the equilibrium point we're seeking. Shelby's right -- if it's too easy to pick up a free agent, no one will trade.

I think we'll see some trades around mid-season, once team's positions start to jell more. I have a feeling I'll be active, as I come from the Steinbrenner/Jerry Jones school of team management!
