I know most gurupies have teams in League 4, i'm just wondering what other leagues gurpies coach in.

I have just two.
Lg4 Camden
Lg5 Cambridge

I didn't realize until now it was a fellow Gurupie who joined Conf. 2 in League 5. You'll have to pardon my pitiful excuse for a team. This is my 3rd season at the helm, but I had a downright awful squad to work with (I got them coming off a 1-23 season, where their 1 win was in their last game). What's unfortunate is that in 2 more seasons, I won't be able to make that excuse any more and my horrible team will be wholly my fault. I also haven't had the chance to be as active this summer as I would have liked, so hopefully come September I can devote a little more time to my teams.

jgunnip - yeah, I knew I was going to be in for a long season when I decided to start 3 freshmen. The alternatives were not very enticing either, so it went about as well as can be expected, I guess. Hopefully we'll steadily improve in the seasons to come.

I have teams in LG 4 and Lg 7.
My league 4 team sucks, Next year will be all my players finally so we'll see. I had nothing to work with when i took over and I've been starting Freshmen since I took it.

My League 7 team is great. I'm currently 10-4 I started 6-0 but then turnover and Foul problems were causing me to lose games. I would outshoot a team in FG's and 3-pts but they have 25/30 FT and I'd have 12/15 or less. I corrected that finally by replacing my PG who was trying to get Assists to a PG who is a gunner. I have 2 Good shooters starting and 2 Exe Shooters starting and my C is a 7'1" mammoth who averages a double double every game. The past 4 games which I've won I've had 5 starters in double figures usually two with 20+ So I'm shooting the lights out. I should win my season finally agaist the 1-13 basement team and I'll go into the conf playoffs as a #1 or #2 seed. I want a bid into the tourney. Only downside is I was on vacation and missed the first week of recruiting, unless i get lucky im in some trouble

I've got one team in Leauge 14---Annapolis Smokers. Been coaching that team for 4 seasons now. I also just picked up a team in League 11, Casper.

So far my recruiting efforts have stunk. My best recruiting class was a +12 two seasons ago, followed up by my worst class of -1.

I was trying to get a team in leauge 4 and ended up registering to early and got a team in league 19. I'll recruit for that team, but dump it after this season.

If you want a team in league 4 registration starts on the 17th.

to those who care (anyone?):

Lg18 - Houston Heat make the NTT by winning the Conf.23 Tourney!!

a tactical change allowed the Heat to beat the #25 team in the Lg, a team they had lost to twice, to win the tourney - they go in to the NTT as a 13 seed

i inherited this team from VIDevilRays after last season's recruiting so I can't take too much credit - thanks VID! - its only my second full season of SSB so i am pretty pumped

The mighty Clemson Rodans go for there 3rd Conf 10 Tournement Title in 4 years (the entire existance of league 23)!

I just realized that the Rodans' career Conf Tourney Record is a stellar 10-1. Not bad considering the overall record is 44-46.

The Mighty Rodans do it again! 3 conf tourney championships in 4 seasons! We beat a team we got spanked by earlier in the year. Now we just need to improve on the 1-11 NTT record. Doh!

My team tweaks in the tourney championship game panned out better than could have ever been expected. The main one was moving a very little used bSG (9 MPG) to my starting PG. He has Poor shooting, EXC def and FAIR everything else, but I wanted to put pressure on his PG. So what does he do? 6 steals! Sweet! I did a bunch of other tweaks/adjustments too. Its great when "the plan comes together".

Congrats RSF! It is pretty cool when an adjustment actually works and not backfire. I had a similar situation in my lg 14 conf championship game. I had lost previously by 20+ points to the team I was going to face. We were outrebounded by over 10 boards as well. In the championship game I decided to switch my D from man to normal. I ended up winning by 12 and outrebounded them by 1. I love it when the plan comes together!

This is my first season that all my players are the ones I recruited. So, making the NTT shows signs of a promising future. I'm sitting at 15-3 and would love to win 20 games but I just don't think that will be possible. I'm in as an 8 seed and I'm thinking that a 3-3 record in the tourney would be a major accomplishment.

BTW, I've got to gloat one more time here. That team I beat for the championship, well I handed them their first loss of the season. That's 2 seasons in a row that I've done that to them. Last season they started out something like 10-0 before I delt them their first loss. HA!

I went 2-4 in my first NTT. A very tough draw for my team as well. We faced 5 teams that ended up ranked 21 or better. My first loss was a thumping by the the defending champs in the 2nd round. They went on to win their 2nd consecutive NTT and they also finished undefeated for the 2nd year in a row.

My League 19 "Pasadena Spam and Eggs" team went into triple OT tonight. My SG, PF and bPF all fouled out. With both PFs out, it makes for some rather strange minutes to look at in the boxscore.

My starting Center (all 7'3" of him) played 50 minutes with my 6'11" backup playing 5 minutes. He popped in 25 points, grabbed 14 boards, rejected 4 shots and dropped in a steal and 2 dimes for good measure!

This is like this teams 3rd game of double or triple OT this season (10 games)! When is spring break for these fellas so they can get some rest!

Final score to this one was 120-118

My league 23 team (Clemson Rodans) recruits came in tonight:

The second consecutive Top Ranked class. Actually surprised considering it was only a +6 class (+4, +1, +1). Only one of which was a max player.

It consisted of two 6'10" guys and a 7'1" guy. Hmmm. I think I might be getting into height overkill now, considering I also have a 7'0" So, 6'11" So and a 6'10" Senior. Outside my 6'1" and 6'3" Seniors (both NAs!), my shortest guys are 6'5" So (a +7 guy) and my starting PG at 6'6".

Cool, another gurupie in Lg 14. Welcome to the league RSF. I coach the Annapolis Smokers from conference 5, coach name is Herbgreen.

I just got a +10 class that replaces a +12 class. I've made the NTT the last two years and I think I'll be very lucky to make the big dance this year. I've had 3 solid recruiting years in a row and once my senior class leaves, they're a combined -1 class, I should be right back in the NTT.

Welcome RSF.

I coach the Shreveport Giants in League 14 (Conference 13). We're coming off an 18-6 year (in which we were rated in the top 10 for much of the season) as well as a sweet sixteen appearance. However, four year stud starter Danny Fortunato (+7 SF), who was and 8th pick in the SIMBA draft, and 6'11" center Marquis Rhodes (+4), both graduated. Brought in a solid +9 class though.

Anyway, welcome. Looks like a lot of new talent has arrived. Should make for a much more competitive league.

I dont know if any of you guys are in already but League 6 is a super League! Very competitive, tough to recruit in and, of course, the vickditale website of the League really enhances the fun:)

I have San Antonio there and I have had a heck of a time trying to make them competitive. But it has been a blast trying!

We are in exhibitions now so its time to get a team there if you want one. I highly recommend that League.

With the message board being very active and the VickiD website it really does enhance the fun. Sign up quick as there are very few teams available.

Thanks, VID! I don't recruit for Pensacola, I just plug the guys into the lineup so I can't take credit for Kincaid. But yeah, he sure is fun to coach. :)

The Tucson team will come back down to earth pretty soon unfortunately. We have never won 4 games in a row and I don't see them extending that streak to much further. I do think we will have are first winning season this year though.

Thanks again and good luck to you!

Well this ought to be interesting:

In my league 14 team, the 3/12s came in. One of my maxes came in as a 2/2. His hometown team is on him, as well as another in his same conf. I am millions of miles away from him (Conf 8 vs Conf 28). The player has a POOR- for LOCAL preference. Should be interesting how this pans out.

The rest of my recruits suck. A 5/5, 3/3, 2/2 and a 1/1. A couple of fall backs are close, but not real interesting. We'll see...

I found this game via this message board about a month ago. I'm already hopelessly addicted.

I have two (soon to be 3) teams:

Lg 13- Helena (they suck)
Lg 14- Wichita (they're good)
Lg 27- ????

RSF, what team are you in 14? My recruiting was even more hopeless than yours... my 3 maxes were 5/5, 3/3, 4/4.

My lg 14 team is playing awful right now. We are 4-6 and I just lost by over 30 points tonight.

Recruiting looks ok. My maxes are 1/1, 1/1, 3/3, and 6/6. I've got a few promising sleeper picks so I'm thinking of dropping off the 3/3 tie and using those points on my sleepers. This team really needs a couple of true point gaurds, so I'm gonna turn my attention and fill that need.

Haha, yeah I saw that and was going to post something too. Should be a good matchup. 15-3 vs 14-4. The Rodans have been on a roll, so I can see that ending pretty soon. One thing to note on my loses, 3 have come in a combined 5 points.

You have a huge height advantage that I'm hoping won't come in to play too much. Strangely, I'm not that worried about it on the defensive end--I've been completely shutting people down lately (7 of my last 8 opponents have been held to 57 points or less), but I'm trying to figure out how the heck I'm going to score.

I'm betting I score about 62 points at most. If I can hold you down in the mid-fifties, I win. Otherwise, no. I guess that's how it works when your starting defense is a +9 and your shooting is a +0...

My three losses this year were by 6 in OT, by 2, and by 8 in the conference tournament. I haven't played many top-caliber teams and was really hoping to get a second shot at KC to see if the first win was a fluke.

How's your recruiting? Mine is a 2/2 tie, a 4/4 tie, and a few decent small leads that can all score. I lose Inman next year, which leaves a big gaping hole in the scoring department.

+9 Def, wow! Not feeling real confident about this matchup. Honestly, this team has exceeded any expections I had for them this year. I was thinking I'd get these results next year, so we are a little ahead of schedule.

As for my recruiting, its pretty poor. But it was a product of me not really needing too much. I have 2 2/2, a 3/3, a 1/1 for my maxes. I have slim (very slim!) leads on two backups and another I should get this week. Recruiting will be interesting, especially if you look at Post #28.

Good luck (but not enough to beat me!)

Well, drat, phooey, nice game, rsf. Do me proud and keep on winning!

That has to be the most pathetic first 10+ minutes of any game I have had any of my teams play. For those looking for entertainment, I will just say that 36-7 is a score I'd expect to see in a football game, not in a #7 vs. #10 NTT game. That was the most points anyone has put on me all season, tied in game 1 (and they needed overtime). Yeesh.

Now I get to play the #6 PR team. He is 18-1 and runs a 6'11" PG! He looks like a monster defensive squad too. Frickin basicly every starter with atleast 1 steal each. I might sit Dauenhauer, shift Sykes to PG and move Tuttle from NA to SG. Sykes is pretty darn good defensively, but Tuttle will shutdown most anyone. His PG might be tall but he has 2.6 TO/game, so he can be exploited. Hmmm...

League 13 recruiting was reasonably solid, as I brought in three +3 players to replace a combined +1 senior class. Nobody spectacular, but added some height (6-9, 6-7, 6-6), which is nice as these are 3 of the 4 tallest people on the team.

Looking forward to some early-season beatings, though--for some reason my 9-15 squad was selected to play teams with records of 12-12, 17-7, and 19-5 to start off the year. (My exhibition season should be fun too: 19-5, 19-5, 18-6. This was of my own choosing, however.)

What can I say? Not bad for a second-ever recruiting class (the first was last week), huh?
Beginner's luck! :)))))))))))))

I broke a 4/4 tie to get Troy Gumbel, who's a +7, 6'9" guy that played PG in high school and will play PF or C for me. Great defender, great rebounder, good at almost everything else, fair athlete. Instant MVP candidate. I missed out on Louis Harp, who turned out to be a +5 I think, but I think somehow Troy makes it all better.

The other two aren't too shabby either. Someone fell asleep at the switch on Sampson, because I got him with 33 RPE and a scholarship. Someone spent about 130 RPE on him but either 1) forgot to give him a scholarship, or 2) got three better players. If the latter is the case, hats off to them. He's a weak defender, but I'll live. I may have a 6'8" bPG backing up a 6'5" PG now. And East can score and defend, and oh look, I need a shooting guard.

The most exciting part for me is that I really didn't lose much defense with this class, and now I have more scoring options. I was about #8 overall in defense last year, but only scored about 70 a game. I look for that to go up. My starting lineup is now a potential +27, most of it well placed. Should be fun. I'm probably still one year away with this team, and need a little more scoring, but wow. I'm thrilled.

The League 13 Most Recruited list came out today, and I can only say, Woohoo! I have one high on the list, as expected (a 6'10" guy from my region scoring 23.7 a game after 6 games--he's E+ local and E- impact, so I'm sticking with him. Another local recruit appeared very low on the list.

However, 6'10" hometowner Seth Delaney (Exc scout, G+/E-/G-/G+/E-, 3.1/57 GPA/exam, stat line 21.3 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.8 spg, 2.0 bpg, 0.0000 topg) is not on the list! Someone is asleep at the switch! I can only pray that Delaney goes unrecruited. In the event of a tie, he likes it here and wants to start right away. Please, Lord, if I can just have one thing, let it be Delaney.

League 13 W3/W12 has been out for a few days now. I'm pleased.

Delaney (see above) is only a 2/2 tie, as is Schoenbachler (see above again)--both with Idaho bleeping Falls and an out-of-conference team. A 6'5" EGGFF with G intelligence (Exc scout) is a 1/1 tie with a team 3 regions away, and he's E+ local. And I have a clear lead on Skip Plummer (R18), who's averaging 13 and 10 with close to 2 blocks a game. Him, Delaney, and Schoenbachler are all 6'10". Could be a fun class.

Too bad my team still stinks.

Team update, because I'm bored:

League 13: Helena is a deceptive 4-12. The record includes four losses to top-10 teams (three to conference leader Billings), four overtime losses, and a 1-point regulation loss. We've also played the 18th-toughest schedule in the country. We're currently ranked #183 in the power ranking, right about where we entered the RTT last year before going 4-2. Recruiting is looking awesome, with small ties (2/2, 2/2, 1/1) on in-conference studs, two clear leads (one 6'10" center getting 9.7 boards and 1.7 blocks per game, the other a shooting guard getting 23.7 ppg and 1.5 spg), and a few other possibilities. We'll be better next year, possibly MUCH better.

League 14: Wichita is 12-1, with the only loss coming in game #1 of the season, 64-63. Ranked #11 in the power rankings, we're in the top 15 in defense (63.8 ppg, running a Normal tempo!), and the top 10 in rebounding (+10.5 rpg). We also boast two of the top seven leaders in the league in steals (Robert Lacefield is on pace to break the single-season league steals record). In short, this team has a shot to win the whole thing. Recruiting is also solid, with two 6'7"/6'8" SF types coming in that can score and defend, and a couple more leads. Darned if we still aren't looking up at rsf's Spokane Rodans though (in more ways than one!)

League 27: St. Louis went 12-12 last year, and will be hard-pressed to repeat that mark. We defend about as well as an irregular Iraqi military unit, and have little height. We can score a lot of points though, and decent ball handling will keep us close in most games. Recruiting in L27 is going to be interesting this year, with nobody that I can really go after in conference.

Wichita's 18-game winning streak ended in the second round of the NTT in L14. KO'd by a seventh-seeded computer-coached Glendale team. OUtrebounded them, had fewer turnovers, just couldn't shoot. Dang it. On the plus side, recruiting still looks semi-strong for next year.

I have been coaching Blue Hen's old team, Austin, in league 12 for 2 seasons now. Last week, I made it to the NTT championship game as a 10 seed. However, that's where my luck ran out. But, I'm looking forward to this season, as I only lost one starter. Recruiting was mediocre at best. I got 2 +3 guys, one of whom is an Exc shooter. That is the only thing I was really excited about. We won't mention the other recruit I got. Haha.

Lost out on top two priorities, Seth Delaney (went to conference foe Idaho Falls) and Mac Schoenbachler (eschewing his G+ local, jilted Idaho Falls and myself for Galveston). Still ended up with a +13 class from a 1/1 tie and two non-maxed leads.

RSF --

Good luck in our final four clash on Wednesday night (just not too much). What are the odds?

We certainly didn't want to see your red hot bunch on this side of the bracket, but I guess everybody is tough at this point.

Anyway, congratulations on your great run. Whichever teams wins is the one I will be cheering for in the final.

Good luck to you too! I've been red-hot and rolling all season long. Two losses, one to #1 Las Vegas fairly early on, then the conference finals to a pretty good squad.

If you win, Great! If I win, Great!

This is my second final 4 in a week. Went to the championship game in League 4. I'm hoping this one goes even better.

Congratulations, rsf, on your L14 NTT title! With that 80-68 win over Las Vegas, you moved up to #2 in the PR...right behind Las Vegas. Gotta love computers. Somehow, I rather doubt you care. :)))))

(Myself, I'm hoping for a different sort of streak. Had the #1 recruiting class last year, had the #1 class in L13 last week. Going for the double-repeat.)

Thanks fellas, its kinda nice after losing out last week.

Congrats to balls and bmd for pulling top rated classes (balls with a #1...sweet!). I made both lists. Pulled 2 of my maxes (both were clear 0/0s) and a backup whom I had 74 RPEs on (clear 0/0). Honestly surprised at the +13 score, with nice distribution of attributes. Still going to NA one of them as there is still a ton of talent on this team, despite losing superstud...what his name...oh yeah...Gerry Sykes (#2 in the SimBA draft!)

Thanks RSF, the Sun is shining here :)

I must say that the sim gods are looking down upon me. In one weeks time I have 2 #1 ranked classes(Lg 4 was my other). I won two ties, a 4/4 and 3/3, to get my two tall guys. My three recruits are a combined +14. My third recruit is a defensive monster with 2.3 steals a game. He played PG and also had 1.9 turnovers a game, but is rated with good hands. I still don't have the kind of PG that I like, one with under 1 TO per game. But if he can steal more than he turns it over I think I'll give him a shot.

Wow, I can't remember the last time I posted on RotoGuru. I used to coach league 4 Savannah, but once the new recruiting started I dropped my league 4 team to concentrate on my League 16 team, where I was involved in preseason tournaments and had just pulled in a #1 ranked class. Anyway, three seasons later that #1 class has brought me my first NTT title with West Palm Beach. The starting lineup was composed of 3 juniors, a soph, and a freshman, the team went 24-0, and finished with a power ranking of over 107. Needless to say I was extremely excited, and with the entire starting lineup returning this season looks like it could be just as fun. We just finished exhibition game #2, and my starting five scored 91 out of our teams 93 points, something I have never seen before. Anyway, it's amazing how much a good NTT run will get you back into this game, and with some extra free time on my hands I may try to jump back into league 4 again, only this time with some experience under my belt. So watch your backs. ;)

I just dropped my lg 11 team. I didn't want to drop it but I got the team by mistake. In thier first season with all the players as the ones I recruited they make the NTT championship game and lose by two. It was harder to give up after such a great run and they should be back in the thick of things next year too. And on that note, I went ahead and picked up a team in lg 1. The team is total crap but should be fun trying to build them up.

Whenever league 4 opens up post a message in here so I can get in. My League 16 West Palm Beach is still rolling, beating opponents by 30+ ppg, and I just picked up a team in league 9 that is a definate rebuilding project (the starting center is 6'4").

Well, I have 2 6'6" guys, but both are poor rebounders. The entire team is only +12, but +4 of that are from a point guard that can't score or play defense. Infact, no one on the team can play defense, which is part of the reason I'm getting beat by 40 points a game in exhibition. You know it's bad when you can't figure out if your starting point guard should remain at PG or move to center. By comparison, my WPB squad has a starting five that is +29 overall, and a + 9 on defense. Should be a fun challenge trying to build this team up as a small program.

After all of that, I know your team is more of a challenge than mine. I do have 3 guys that are +4 each, so there is some talent. I just noticed that my 6-8 guy is a poor in rebounds. Some help he is. Just for the heck of it, I'm gonna put both my starters and backups on sub more. I've wanted to try this for a while now, and this team looks perfect for that.

In lg 14 the Smokers were eliminated in round one of the NTT. We had a very easy schedule this season so I wasn't shocked that I lost. I'm just hoping that I can win 20 games.

I lost to him earlier in preseason, but that was a completely differently run squad than I have going now. I am thinking on switching my PG and SG around, to get Vanover on the better scorer, but things are going so smooth, I am having a tough time pulling the trigger.

What is it that irks you about him?

kinda funny how things end up some times. The lineup I'm running tonight in lg 4 has the startes @ +18 and the backups +22. When I first stated playing this game I would start the guys with the highest attributes. I've slowly learned that you don't have to do it to win. Alot of guys play better than their attributes. And alot play worse as well.

Go Rodans!

No increase in attributes from any of them, so it's unlikely that the rankings take any sort of potential into consideration. They are still +7,+1,+0.

BTW, 46 in a row for WPB. This is by far the best team i've ever put together, it may not have the +/- rating that some teams have, but it seems like all the +'s are in the right category's and the players all complement eachother. They all play tremendous defense as well. Here's a quick rundown:

PG Edison Janes 6'4 Sr 22.4 ppg 2.8 apg 12 blk
SG Jamal Shelton 6'4 Jr 22.4 ppg 4.4 rpg 13 blk
SF Dave Paulley 6'9 Sr 9.4 ppg 4.0 rpg 24 blk
PF Brandon Nation6'10 So 2.8 ppg 6.0 rpg 24 blk
C Conrad Snyder 6'10 Sr 14.8 ppg 8.9 rpg 25 blk

Some random facts:
Team scores 88.0 ppg, allows 57.9 ppg, +30 dif
+13.8 rpg , 129 to 60 blocks advantage, Team .564 FG%

I wish I could transfer this team into Lg 4. :)

So, L14 Top 75 is out.

A couple of seasons ago, I hit the trifecta in L27 recruiting. While I managed to avoid that this year, as the song goes, "Two out of three ain't bad." Not a huge shock, as one is a big man getting 4.3 blocks per game, and the other is shaping up to be a 12/12 tie or so. Other two maxes also on the list, one of whom will be getting dropped.

*sigh*

On the good side, Johnnie Pugh (25 ppg, 3 apg, 1 topg) is only #60 on the list, I had him in my top ten.

RSF, well my first recruiting class kinda sucked. I think it was ranked around 160th. I dumped my two maxes and went after the sleepers I found as I didn't like my chances of winning any of my ties.

I look at the top 75 list this season and of course my only two maxes are on it. Just like any other lg there are plenty of top players that didn't make the list. It's gonna take me at least 4 years to build this team up.

I co manange a team in lg 6 and we have won more games than any other the last 5 seasons. Granted, we play in a very weak conference so that helps. That is the only team that I play as a large program, BTW.

All that "superior" lg talk is a bunch of gay nonsense. I don't care what lg you're in, it's always tough to win the NTT.

Good luck in getting a lg 1 team.

The DWetzel empire is rolling!

League 13: #6/#27 ranked class last week added to a team that went 16-8 last year, won 3 straight tough preseason games to advance to Tier 1 of the King of the Hill tournament. Potential NTT contender.

League 14: #1/#2 ranked class including a pair of +6 players (one clear, one fluky 8/8 tie) added to a team that was ranked as high as #5 in the PR at the end of last season, and lost nobody of value.

League 27: Good freshmen (headlined by a +7 PG). Team is 9-3, on pace for best season in school history--and there's a solid recruiting class on the way.

RSF, you ever get a Lg 1 team?

I just got my second set of recruits in that Lg and they come in at +6. My first class was +5. I've used the same strategy for recruiting as my other teams and so far Lg 1 seems to be a lot tougher. I haven't tried to recruit any studs though and have been recruiting rather conservatively. My strategy with this team is to go after defensive guys. 4 of my 6 recruits are good to excellant defenders. I've got another guy who had 1.5 stls in high school but comes in as a fair defender with G int and G ath. I'm just hoping, in the long run, to play every team tough.
