Ok, seems like a good a time as any to get a new thread going.

Somehow I managed another #1 recruiting class. Although, I don't really think that this class is as deserving as last year's. Last Year I had a +19 class, this year, +11. Ranked #1 in one poll, #4 in the other. The good thing about this class is, I finally have size!!!! 3 guys, all 6'10" or 6'11" :)

Last year, my tallest player was 6'8" and had to use him at center. Somehow I managed to outrebound my opponents last year. This year (if size actually has an impact, which I'm not sure how much it really does impact things, given my success last year) I should outrebound my opponents by alot more!

I'll probably wind up starting 2 seniors, something I haven't done in a while, I've been letting my youngin's play alot. Now I think I'm an NTT team. Anything short of that will be dissapointing from now on. I've got this recruiting thing down, now I just gotta learn how to coach these guys!

Would you guys start a +7 sophomore (Devers - who struggled alot last year) over a +2 senior (Reis - Exc shooter) who shoots 50% but has a turnover problem. I think I'll start by giving Devers a shot to turn it around.

Ok, so, who wants to schedule some Home and Home scrimmages? I know bmd owes me one!

Excellent shooter with turnover problems I would start on the bench J. Hard to keep a +7 player out of the lineup!

Got a +12 class myself, ranked in one publication. I have a heck of a lot of options now as far as strategy, which I like. The team I want out there though doesn't have a lot of shooters, so we'll see.

We should start an SSB Pick the Loser Contest.
My pick for tonight's game is the lowly Psycho Midgets team, who are gonna get muderized by Reno!

I have already lost to J's Losers...so go easy on me FP. Now's a good time for you to test those NA players. ;)

My team lost in 3 OT's tonight. That's the most OT's any of my teams have ever played. To top it off, my SF turns the ball over 10, yep 10 times. He was my starting PG last year too.

I'm off to an 0-2 start, not quite what I expected. They have both been very close games, so I guess that counts for something.

I already screwed up recruiting this season as I issued to many RPE's. My top 35 page is full and then some.

I'm only going to be able to max 2 guys this year.

My first recruit is Alec Ernst Conf 31 he is a homeboy. Hopefully he stays put.

I've got my eye on a couple of other guys. I will wait to put points down until Friday mornin after I see what everyone else is doing.

Let me know if any of you are going after the following players:

Lashawn Burt, reg 23
Raphael Newman, reg 14
Douglas Gambill, reg 15

I almost pulled off an upset againt RSF's Screws. Trading leads after each quarter, but then I had 3 point lead with seconds remaining. I knew it was too good to be true. I was afraid to scroll down anymore...then I see Atkinson hit a HUGE shot and the Midgets lose in OT.

0-3 in Exhib, 0-2 in Reg Sea...woohoo! At this point, I can only get better!

Wow, the top 75 came out and I am surprised to say the least. None of my maxes are in the top 75, when I genuinely expected at least one, if not two, to be near the top. Tell me, how is this guy not one of the top 75 most recruited players?

Alan Burnett, Region 6
Height: 6-7, GPA/Exam: 2.9/53, HS Pos.: C
Local: Fair-, Win: None-, Impact: Good-
Scout: Exc, Ratings: E-G-G-G+G-
Stats: 19.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.2 apg, 0.3 spg, 0.5 TOpg, 2.2 bpg

Not too shabby:

Of my 3 Maxes, 2 are 0/0 and the last one is 2/2.

Also have a 0/0 backup, as well as about 100 guys I am fairly close on.

I think I might have underrecruited this year. Very pleased with the max numbers though.

I had to overcome a 55-30 deficit to win by 1. Check out this incredible ending:

E Vinson hits a 3-point field goal (19) 2 0:15 93 92
F Mudd has inbound pass stolen by E McQueen 2 0:14 93 92
E McQueen dribbles 2 0:09 93 92
E McQueen misses a 3-point field goal 2 0:06 93 92
E McQueen grabs the rebound 2 0:05 93 92
E McQueen hits a short 2-pt field goal (19) 2 0:00 93 94

wow, I probably would've gotten left out of the NTT if I didn't win this one! McQueen & Vinson are BOTH Freshmen!

Wow, what a comeback, I never had the lead during the game until the final buzzer-beater!

First Round upsetin! My Psycho Midgets have beaten Harrisburg, a team that had only lost 3 games(twice to #2 Worcester and once to BMD). This turned out to be a high-scoring game, just like most of Albany's other games. But Harrisburg was no match for the #1 scoring team in the league. Francois Livers and his 18 boards didn't hurt either.

Next week is going to be a tough one for us, as we face the Macon Aggies. The Macon coach likes to play a slow tempo game. Unfortunately, my team usually plays poorly in low-scoring games.

How's everyone recruiting looking? I've got 2 ties and 3 clear leads. And
since I'm home sick with the flu and bored I'll go ahead and list my recruits.

My ties:

Lashawn Burt Reg 23; 2/2 tie, He's 6-11 w/ good or exc smarts.

17.1ppg 9.7rpg 1.7apg 1.4stls 0.6tos 1.4 blks

Toby Howard Reg 3; 1/1 ties, He's 6-10 with fair int.

13.8ppg 8.2rpg 1.3apg 1.3stls 1.2tos 2.3blks

My clear leads are:

Alec Ernst Reg 31; hometown guy with good or exc smarts. Ave almost
20 points a game and almost 8 boards per game. He's 6-7 and would most
likely play PF, most likely as a backup.

Jesse Mason Reg 5; He's 6-10 and not the brightest kid but he can play.
I think he'd make a fine PF.

13.7ppg 8.7rep 1.1apg 1.6stls 1.7tos 2.0blks

Mohammed Ellsworth Reg 14; He's a 6-3 SG with fair smarts. I really
don't need him but will take him if he is better than some of the others.

23.0ppg 3.0rpg 1.2apg 1.0stls 1.0tos 0.2blks

I'm gonna put the same amount of priority points down for all 5 and let the computer decide who signs with me.

And it doesn't get any easier...

The Titanium Screws won their third NTT game by 2 points. For that, we get #1 PR Idaho Falls Rabid Chickens at 21-0! Hey, if anything, my #5 PR sure looks purdy.

Nice to see the Perdadores still standing at 3-0, as well for the Psycho-Midgets. We comprise 3 of the 4 "Featured Games".

Oh man, just noticed J beat Vicksburg. They are one of my 2 losses. I don't think I have beaten them since I started playing League 4. Sheesh. A win Monday by J and myself, and we'll go head to head, again. Gonna be a tough row to hoe.

Midgetmania is running wild!!! Hurry and order your "Psycho Midget 2003 NTT Champions" T-Shirts and caps while supplies last!(or before we lose to Worcester) I was hoping to get a rematch against Polack's Spartans, but it looks like that's not going to happen. Fortunately, 2 gurupies survived on the other side of the bracket: J's Perdadores and RSF's Titanium Screws.

Good luck to you guys!

Oh yeah, and I demand a re-count on the League Freshman of the Year Award. I think Isiah Simms was snubbed, much like his teammate Cowan was 2 seasons ago. Simms had about 3 PPG less than the player who took the award, but he had almost twice as many twice as many RPG, more assists, more blocks and 59% shooting vs the other's guy's 56%. At least he was selected Conf FOY and made the All-Conf 1st team along with teammate Ingram, who also got Conf POY and made the All-League 1st team. Cowan and Livers made the All-Conf 2nd team.

I really really really wanted the League award though. I've never gotten one of those and thought this would have been the year. Maybe Bill Palmer will be my next freshman phenom...assuming he signs with Albany. Forget I said that, I don't want to jinx myself. ;)

My recruits:

This is a really wierd recruiting attempt. Think I threw it together last minute...

0/0s
Antoine Ries 6'5" PG - Reg 23 - Backup PG at best
Todd Yussman 6'9" C - Reg 26 - would consider him at PG, if ratings say so. He's a 10/10 with 1 stl and 2 blocks. Exc Def and Reb. Guys I like to recruit.
Mitch Fischer 6'3" PG - Reg 3 - Good Hands, Def and Athl. Lets see if those ratings stick. Not a good Ast/TO ratio in HS.
Bernie Doran 6'7" C - Reg 6 - Nicknamed "Mason" for all the bricks he puts up. Excellent Reb, and thats about it.

Ties:
Jimmy Cisee 6'11" C - Reg 9 - Hometown homie - 15/9 guy. Exc Reb rated. Fair or Fair+ in all other cats. Low tie (2/2), so should be interesting.
Dewey Lutz 6'6" SG - Reg 8 - Can't really figure out why I tagged this guy...

Yep, thats about it. Not realy exciting.

Back to the losers side of things, like you really care, I beat Orlando Godfathers by 32. By far my most impressive win of the season. Next up is BMD and his Saboteurs. I've faced him a couple of times in the past, in this league and another, and have never won against him. I believe this is my best chance yet for a victory.

Kristopher Paul, my sophomore PG, was named to the All-Conf 2nd team.

Nice to see there will be a gurupie in the finals. Hopefully whoever it is can bring the title back here. We've had it twice in lg 4(Providence season 15 and Gainesville season 17).

I've been very surprised with how well my team has played this year. After losing our first round NTT game we've gone onto win our next 3 and now we've got a shot at 20 wins. That's something I could've never imagined at the start of the season. Here's a quote I made at the beginning of the season

"Before this weeks exhibition games I didn't have much hope for this season but we look like we'll be decent, nothing special but probably PTT with a outside shot at the NTT. "

Wow! 3:06 of no scoring. Thats slow-down for ya. Great game. The Perdadores came screaming back in the 4th up to that point. Lucky to hold on. What was Sanders doing popping a late 3 ball attempt? I got that guy on "don't ever shoot 3s, even if your life depends on it" mode.

Sorry RSF, I swear, I really do want you to win!!! Good luck on Friday!

I'm really apprehensive about the game tonight. Just don't like my chances with 2 quality guys out. Hmmm. Still debating the 8 man game idea. Hope its not too late to make adjustments...

A screw it. I'm playing only 8 guys. Don't like my NAs enough to put them in. Run em till they drop!

Great game RSF, that late comeback was very impressive. If only J's thugs didn't play so dirty, things might have turned out differently.

In other news, Albany won its last game to finish at #24 (my personal best).

Nice try RSF! I'd blame that loss on J and his group of thugs. Bunch of punks! ;)

Aint no thang...it was a fun run, one that was not truely expected. Atkinson will be heavily missed, as will Stroud's defensive skills, but I think I guys that can step up and replace them fairly close.

My recruiting class came in at +11. It is the strangest/weakest +11 I could think possible. All backloaded on INT/ATH/REB. I guess I over recruit for a PG. Should be interesting to watch these guys develope.

Yeah baby! I won both ties and bring in a +14 class that is ranked #1 and #2 by the publications. Unfortunately I'm not sure how I'm gonna play these guys next year. I only have one position(bSF) open from last season so maybe I'll play em by committee.

LaShawn Burt comes in as a +6
Toby Howard and Mohammed Ellsworth are both +4

This is the first year that all my players are the ones I've recruited. We should be tough for several years.
