Hey guys,
I'm getting married next weekend, and I'll be on my honeymoon the following week.
That means I have to do all of my recruiting and set my lineups after Monday nights games. I was hoping I could set up some home/away scrimmages to be played Monday night. Anyone interested?
Shortly after the new rosters come out I'll start proposing the scrimmages if you post here.
Thank you! |

FP...
If you are willing, I'd do a home/home scrimmage with my League 13 team. (Yes, you can do that.) I may be in the same situation with recruiting/lineups in my league (child on the way sometime in the next couple of weeks).
Coach name there the same as my posting name here.

Wasn't there some talk in the last thread about recruiting some more gurupies for Conf. 4? I thought it was a really good idea. It would be nice to see some new people in this forum. I think BH should come out of retirement...Terre Haute just isn't the same. I never had the chance to beat one of his teams. And when I finally had a team that could, he quits. What a loser! And whatever to GDogg? Does he still play? I remember back in the chatroom days, the guy could talk about SSB for hours. Chris should come back too. And Dan...well um...I'll just stop right there.
Congrats FP! You too DWetzel.

I think it's a great idea to recruit some more gurupies. I think J should start a thread in the baseball forum.
Because J is the man!

Recruits are up!
I pulled in a +12 class that wasn't ranked. They replace a +12 class.
Bob Dodson +4: He's really a +5 because he's a P for REB and is a guard. He shoot 49% last year and with G hands and E intelligence I think he'll make a good combo guard. I doubt he'll unseat Koch or Fairfield in the starting lineup, but he'll look good as a back up and will be a nice starter as a junior.
Joe Muncy +5: He's 6'11". His HS numbers were not that great so I'm curious to see how he does on the court. He'll be a backup this season with a chance to start next year.
Josh Henson +2: A hometown kid, and the only one I maxed. I think he's a player, he doesn't have great attributes but I see him starting at some point in his career.
All in all I'm pretty happy.
How'd everyone else do?

Jeff and J- I'm going to propose you both 2 scrimmages in the morning.
RSF, DWetzal, Balls, and AG I'll propose both of you guys one scrimmage in the morning!
Hopefully everyone will be able to accept and reciprocate by gametime on Monday.
Have a good night everyone.

A +13 class ranked 6th, and 13th. They replace a +4 class of senior scrubs. BTW J, you gotta teach me how to recruit man. Congrats on the high rankings again.
My guys:
Andre Emmitt +4: He was a 2/2 tie. This guy can shoot. 58.5% from the field, 45.7% from 3. He and reigning league POY Javier Denison should make a lethal scoring combo.
Jacques Greenwell +4: He was a 0/1 lead. He should fight for starting PG duties with fellow frosh Rance Gold.
Rance Gold +5: He was a 0/0 original max.
It will be interesting to see how my glut at the guard position falls into place. Good luck to everyone this season.

Tucson brings in a +7 class. I got a guy who I was 2 points behind on and 2 scrubs that could both play PG if needed.
I'm happy I landed Coby Abbott. He comes in as a +5 and gives me another solid rebounder and defender.
Both of my scrubs have good hands and int. One is a poor defender and the other is a poor athlete. Hopefully I'll never need to play them.
FP, I'm not sure I'll be back by a computer till Monday night. You don't need to offer the scrimmage. Thanks anyways!

I lost a +8 class...something like that(I forgot to check). The only significant player I lost was Maurice Cowan, my starting SG who averaged 20 PPG for the past 4 seasons. The other 2 were just average players.
I had a feeling I was going to do pretty well with my recruiting this time, as I had 3 clear leads on players of the +3/+4 quality. And those weren't even my maxes! It would have even been better if I signed Walser. He was rated as an EEEEE guy...hopefully his ratings didnt turn out that high in the end.
Either way, I can't complain. I'm very satisfied with this year's freshman trio....a +15 class!
6-4 Marion Weldon (+5): He was one of my backups. I managed to sign him ith a measly 40 RPs. His ratings turned out better than expected. G Def, E Hnds, G Reb, G Ath His HS numbers weren't that good so it will be interesting to see how he'll perform.
6-11 Raheem Kerr (+3): Kerr's ratings were a lot higher when I was recruiting him. He had G-'s in every category so I guess I can't be too surprised by the ratings drop. He only ended up with a G in Reb and an E in Intelligence. I was hoping for more, but his rebounding was the main reason I wanted him anyway.
6-10 Wes Parker (+7): I can't believe I landed this guy! He was kind of a long shot, a 6/6 tie. He's an absolute stud. I looked at his shooting numbers and they're a bit deceiving. He shot just a tad over 50%, but he was also 11-84 from beyond the park. Taking those 3's out of the quation, he shot 66%!!! He's going to post some great numbers if he can stop shooting from beyond the arc. His rebounding (9.4/gm) and defensive stats (58 blks and 1.8 stls/gm) are impressive as well. GGGEGG ratings for him...a +7! That's the most talented player I've ever had as far as ratings go. I've never had anyone over +5.
They ranked my class at #1 and #3 in the publications. Interesting that they ranked Philadelphia (one of my conf 4 rivals) at #3 and #1, since that was the team that signed EEEEE Neil Walser. Uh oh...maybe he is THAT good.

I see the Midgets are on my schedule(again) for exh game 3. I think we need to make it a tradition.
Congrats to all gurupies with a ranked class.
I'd like to know what the total attributes are for J's team is? If he cares to let us know. I think he has 4 highly ranked classes in a row.

Dude! How did I wind up with Reno in Exhibits and Regular season?
Funny thing...guess what team has the best record over the last two seasons? Yep, the Atlanta Titanium Choke Artists.
As far as recruiting went, I can't complain. I got two maxes: Williamson 6'11" +2 1/1 tie and Marcus 6'10" +3 (with P for shot!) 4/4 tie. I also got a reserve (thanks balls!!) in Perry 6'4" +3 (in all the cats I like!) and was waaay behind on him! I lost a great class (forget the + numbers), but actually got taller!
As for the upcoming season, despite being a +38 total team, I don't see the as being a very good squad at all. I need to hit recruiting very hard and retool.

I got lucky this time. Got Dodson+3, the guy I was caught from behind on. Chandler+4, won a 2/2 tie. Gelhaus was a guy I was way behind on, comes in at +3.
J and balls, scrimmages are up. I give PT to my backups and shift things around so don't expect much.

Hey there guys, I'm back in League 4. I'm now the coach of conf 22 Sioux Falls Hurricanes under the name tranceman. Looks like this team has hovered around the .500 mark for the past ten seasons and went 7-17 last season. Finding some height will be my first priority, but we do have some decent young players to work with. It appears that the newly crowned lg 4 champs are in my conference, so the competition should be pretty tough. I'll be doing a lot of looking at recruits this week as the NTT starts in League 16 next week and my West Palm Beach team hasn't lost in it's last 44 games. Anyway, it's great to be back in a league with some active posters, and I'll try and do some type of team preview before the weekend.

I think you would be a great ambassador for the sim because you're far more involved with rotoguru land and highly respected as well. You've got a lot goin on anyways so don't worry about it. I won't be around this weekend and don't plan on being near a puter until Monday so I won't be able to help much. And I agree, moving sucks!

Well, that's it. Just sent my e-mail to Jeremy resigning my team and asking it go to *computer. (I know this happens anyway if you just do nothing, but I hate to see the team go fallow.)
Gurupies taught me the game, and showed me how to get good fast (and I know nothing whatsoever about college basketball.) I stuck aroung long enough to be competitive with these same gurupies. And then to see newer gurupies become competitive with me, and then kick my ass!
I'm leaving as I said above, because I don't like the new $$$$$$$$$$ recruiting system. It took the fun outta the game for me
Best of luck to all Gurupies, and thanks for everything. (and give a thot in your memories when you get old for the Long Beach Canyons.)

Good game balls. I think I'm going to keep my lineup just the way it is now. I'm impressed by how my team was able to keep up with an elite team like Tucson.
I only went 1-2 in exhibition play, but at least I outrebounded my opponent in every game. Last season, that was the weakest area for my team.
And another positive was that the Perdadores didn't beat me by 40. Although I don't think J set his lineup for that one with all the moving.

Isiah Simms is an early favorite for Lg 4 Player of the Year after tonight's game. I love boosting my stats against bad teams! :) Simms scored 46 tonight...highest point total by an Albany player under Coach Smiley! 30 points and 10 rebounds a game! Man, if he can keep that up....
And Parker, my freshman stud has been just as impressive with 21 points and 10.5 boards a game.

Nice job on the standings J, but bh doesn't coach Terre Haute anymore. It's bad enough he works for ESPN.com. Now you gotta put him last in the SSB standings. Leave the poor guy alone! ;)

He hasn't turned into Coach ^&*WTDSdstd7 yet so someone's still workin on it

Take blue hen off that list and I'm last amongst the gurupies, woohoo! I'm still tweaking the lineup and I think I'm getting closer to maximizing this teams potential, but that's still not saying much.

Hey, I like that new coaches page (although it took me a couple of minutes to find out how to get there!)
Really surprised by my last 2 class rankings: Frosh: 60-42 Sophe: 40-34
I wouldn't have rated either that high. Nice.
I think it would be better to have all your classes ranked though.

well, my run with good recruiting classes will be over.
31 backups and not one tie, in fact, I'm more than 20RPE away from all of em
My 4 maxes: 10/10, 3/3, 3/3, 2/2
oh well, guess I shouldn't really complain :)

I'm sort of satisfied with my recruiting. I can't really complain now after what J just posted! :)
My 3 maxes are: 3/3 2/4 4/4 wasn't expecting ties like that...
But I have a great backup, a potential +5 player...and not a single person is on him!

Recruiting looks pretty good. All winnable ties and one lead. Of course if I don't win any ties it could become ugly in a hurry!
Montgomery 1/1 (Good+ winning program and Chicago's the other team); Harden 0/0; Sample 2/2 (beastie's on him) (another Good for winning program) Boyle 4/4-any of the five I think have an equal shot.
Have other leads but not on big men and I would like at least one this class.

J, I've got all my sholarships left and will use 10 of them to see if I can't find some decent sleepers for ya. I'll get back to you once I'm done fishing for em.
In the past I've found some solid role players by doing this. I should know something Monday night at the latest.

i used about 11 scholarships and 20 one-pointers to find all of my guys, I made sure to pick guys not on the top 75 list. It usually works pretty well. But with all the success I've had with recruiting, this is probably P6K's revenge!
Thanks balls though, I appreciate it!

J, you ever think about flipping Devers and Puckett?
It looks like Puckett would be a better classic PG (with GOOD for ATHL and INT), and his current AST/TO numbers reflect that. Devers EXC for DEF would seem to suit matching up against gunners people usually place at the SG.
Let me know if you want to scrim to test. Hell, we need our yearly HOME/HOME scrim anyway.

Seems kind of quiet around here this season. Everyones gearing up for football.
How's recruiting lookin for everyone?
I've got the making of a solid class with 2 clear leads, one lead , and a 1/1 tie on one of my maxes.
My 2 clear leads are:
Tex McBride 6-6 SG from region 21. averages over 27 points and over 4 boards a game from the SG spot. Downside is that he turns the ball over 2 times a game. He shows up frequently on the high school stars report.
Clarence Winston 6-9 from reg 25. He'll bring some toughness with his D and rebounding skills. Over 9 boards and 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks a game. He's my top priority as I can use his size for next season.
My one lead is:
Dalton Garvin 6-0 PG from reg 16. I've got no one within 3 but have 3 people within 12. He seems to be a true PG with 3.4 apg and 1.8 stls and under 1 TO per game.
And the 1/1 tie is:
Jordan Cisee 6-3 PG from reg 7. Solid Pg with an average of 24 ppg, 2.2 apg, 1.4 stls and 1.2 To's.
I'll be very happy with any of those three. I'll put the same priority points on the 3 guards and go from there.

I have teams in 18 and 6 which I love-although they are not as good as my League 4 team. Recruiting and winning in those leagues is super challenging. We'll see.

Well we have 4 gurupie teams in the elite eight. Unfortunately that number will be down to at least 3 as jeff and J play each other. And the good thing is that we'll have at least one in the final four. Good luck to everyone!

I would like to give special thanks to J and his thugz for not injuring any of my players in the final four. Even though J sent me to the line 40 times that game. And a big thanks to the gurupies for all the support!
