Fee for Pay League Announced
As mentioned previously (and repeatedly), League 15 will be the first entirely pay league at SimulatedSports.

The fee for League 15 will be a one-time buy-in of $20.00. For your $20.00 you will receive:

1. The opportunity to compete in the most competitive and active league ever known at SimulatedSports.

2. Your team will compete as an Upper-Tier-Team (UTT), also known as a Large Program. This entitles you to 83 recruiting points, 20 scholarships, the excel spreadsheet for recruits and the ability to see who you are tied with in recruiting.

3. Complete access to the SimStats site. The site is currently offline, but is undergoing some modifications and will re-launch prior to League 15's activation.

4. We will be either recruiting or drafting our teams. The talent will not be randomly distributed, so you may (this is still being fleshed out) have the opportunity to build for present or future success.

5. You OWN this team. This means that you will play as a UTT-program for life, with no additional fees.

6. Your League 15 account may be terminated (with no refund provided) if you violate the site rules of conduct or if your team is inactive. Please see below for inactive criteria.

The above are tentative pieces of information designed to provide guidance for (and encourage) your involvement in League 15.

Inactive Criteria
Inactive (abandoned) teams will be returned to computer control, with no refund provided. To maintain active status, you must meet the following requirement: at some point after the third (3RD) week of games (game 9), you must perform some coaching action, either a roster move or a recruiting action. Using the Autorecruiter does not count as a recruiting action.

When You Pay ...
Please use the coach name you provided when you told me that you wanted to be part of League 15. We have not begun creating our NEW coach names just yet. That will commence shortly.

When May I Pay?
As soon as you wish. Please remember to use the same coach name you provided when you committed to play in League 15. If you have forgotten, please reference the "Team Assignment Grid" on page one of the "League 15 - Competitive and Active Beyond Compare!" thread.

How Do I Pay?
Purchase $20.00 worth of credits from the SimulatedSports website. Once you have the 2000 credits in your account, transfer those credits to pick6king. Please use the coach name you provided when you committed to play in League 15. He has this list and will compare coach names with the 2000 credit payment and notify me.

Can I Use Existing Credits?
Yes, if you have the 2000 credits required for entry into League 15, simply transfer them to the coach name pick6king. He will confirm with me when he receives payment and your entrance fee will be marked as paid.

How Will You Know I Paid?
pick6king will notify me whenever he has received payment for League 15. I will then mark the Team Assignment Table with a $$ indicating payment. Also, post a message here that you have submitted payment is not a bad idea. It alerts me to the fact you have sent the credits for entry into League 15 to pick6king.

When Will This League Begin?
League 6 rolls over on Saturday, November 22, 2003. That is only 16 days away, and since we are allowing the ability to form your team (to a degree), League 15 will not be ready in time. Thus, the first games played in League 15 will be played on January 26, 2004. I know this sounds far away, but the two-plus months from now until then is needed to implement the ability to allow coaches to play a part in the population of the roster for their franchises. The league will definitely be created prior to January 26, 2004, but again, this time allows us to get 256 human owners, collect everyone's entrance fee, create 256 new coach name/accounts and to make certain that you are assigned to the team for which you signed up. Not to mention, implement the plan to form the teams (details coming soon).

Hey guys,

New info posted today, looks like they'll be a draft for each conference.

DWetzel looks like we're in the same Conference (15). I've got Lansing. Do you live in MI?

Nope, don't live there anymore--currently relegated to central Illinois. Grew up in Southfield though.

Looking forward to the competition! Still in mourning over my L13 team though. 26-0 counting the preseason, lost the final by a point. :(

Players are up if your conference is Draft Eligible.

If anyone is in one of those leagues it'd be nice to hear some thoughts. DWetzal and I are still waiting for one of our conference mates to pay up.

My conference is draft eligible. I drew the 7th pick. Not too happy about that. There don't seem to be any obvious top picks to me yet. Although I haven't spent alot of time looking at recruits. The info can be kind of overwhelming. After all, there are 100 box scores. But, I'm not sure how much I'll actually be using the box scores. Because, you get shot attempts per game with the other recruit stats. I'm definitely very excited about the draft. I still am not sure what strategy I will use. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

I wouldn't be too upset about drawing the 7th pick, it seems like if there aren't any obvious top picks it'd be better to have two of the first ten.

Can't wait for the draft. Anybody not going for youth in the early rounds? To me a freshman is 4X more valuable than a senior. I guess there's some prestige of having the first NTT title but after that you'd be screwed if you didn't pick youth early.

I was planning on picking a Soph or Frosh with my first two picks but with the 6th overall pick went with a jr. In my conf 4 of the first 5 picks were Fr of So's. I'm planning on going with height for my first 5 or 6 picks.

beastie-

I obviously would have liked to have taken a young big man early. But at my pick (7th), I didn't consider any of them first round material. And I valued good height more than young guards. I still think I'll be able to get some decent young guards in the next couple of rounds while everyone else is scrambling for height. There really wasn't an obvious overall first pick in my draft. Our recruits are scouted at -37 overall. I'm really hoping that we just have stupid scouts. I guess time will tell. Anyway, good luck to everyone in their respective drafts.

I'm leaning towards the first guy. Tough to pass up on a frosh with 1.47 bpg. I've already got a PG/SG scoring 6-3 frosh. I'm currently 3rd from picking so I imagine one if not both these guys will be gone. Gotta keep my fingers crossed.

I figured it'd be best to stay close to home in a league as tough to recruit in as this one. Although, I think there is something to be said for recruiting guys with a Fair Local preference. But, I played it safe anyway. I'm also in a rather strange predicament in that I think I will be able to draw recruits with a high Win and a high Impact preference. I believe this because I am pretty sure I will have a winning season, but my seniors will carry me. I realize that seniors do not play a part in the Impact preference, but the rest of my team is rather mediocre. But anyway, here are my maxes for the first season:

Dave Steiner (reg. 8)
Burt Palazzo (reg. 9)
Shea Abell (reg. 9)
Dallas Ohlmann (reg. 10)

Let me know if any of you were planning on maxes these guys. I'd like to keep my ties as small as possible. I'm fairly certain I'm not pulling from anyone's home region. But, I could certainly be wrong. Anyway, good luck everyone.

I'm going to drop one of them after the top 75 comes out. This just gives me more flexibility. I think it's worth the 17 rp's I'm throwing away to give myself a shot at an extra good player. I've just gotta hope that at least one of these guys doesn't show up on the list.

Bert Veal reg 20

Charlie Langston reg 30

I've already put my points on these guys without thinking about of posting them here first. Sorry if I'm stepping on anyone toes.

Spencer Wolz (15)--6'9" PF/C
Kirby Flores (15)--6'7" PF
Jim Bohn (16)--6'2" PG
Hakeem Kamer (17)--6'9" PF/C

I maxed 4 as well. . . put out 14 scholarships and 2 other RPE's. I figure at Top 35 of more than 20 is probably worthless anyways since there are so many maxes to go around.

The only way I won't max all 4 until the W3/W12 is if they are all in the Top 75. I shot low, so I really don't think that will happen.

Well I was very surprised to see 3 of my 4 recruits on the Top 75 list. I recruited 3 big guys, a Top Tier player (5/5), a 2nd tier (2/2) player, and a 3rd tier (0/0) player, along with a point guard.

What really surprised me was to see my 3rd tier, expected 0/0 player ranked #15. Hakeem Kamer, he's not that good and I'll probably drop off him now.

My top tier guy came in at #20, Kirby Flores. I was thinking of dropping him once the W3/W12 come out, but I'll almost definitely stay on him the rest of the way now.

I'm excited to Wolz not on the list. . . I'm really, really, really crossing my fingers that he comes in as a small tie.

Bohn is an okay PG prospect ranked #72. I'm not sure he's worth being in on a big tie. I'll probably think about it all week, but I might just put points an another 10 medicore PGs (I've already offered scholarships to 11) and hope at least one of those guys comes out unscathed.

Yesterday afternoon I didn't plan on dropping off 2 of maxes, but at this point it might be the right decision.

Two of my maxes showed up, and both were expected. Dave Steiner was #10, and Dallas Ohlmann was #28. I'll definitely be dropping one of them, probably Ohlmann. I really think that there will be alot of 3/3 ties that didn't show up on this initial list, and probably some 4/4's as well.

I need some advice on what to do.

I currently have 2 maxes that made the list. They're ranked at #47 and #56. #47/#56 doesn't seem that bad. But then again, it's League 15... I felt I was really conservative in my maxes...so that leads me to believe the tiebreakers who didn't show up might just be high.

Anyways, I'm leaning towards dropping one, what do you think?

Well I dropped off one my maxes, can't say who yet since I've got a conference mate lingering around this forumn (DWetzal).

I've got 16 backups right now and none of them are on the Top75 list. Of course that doesn't mean anything, but at least it gives me a sense of hope (although probably false) that one or two won't be maxed. I thought about going after some more backups, but giving up the RPE's would really tie my hands if I had more than one backup free.

Well, I am dropping off Lamb due to a recruiting snafu (somehow he only got 13 RPE instead of 17, and well, I can't be bothered to stay in a large tiw down 4 points), so if it's him you may as well speak now. If it's Flores I'm on him till the end. :)

It was a huge week for Lansing going 3-0. Since all 3 of our main recruits are Good+ for winning, a successful week was of great importance.

The biggest win was Wednesday's upset victory of #1 Green Bay. Freshman Rashawn Jolly willed his team to victory with 30 points. What's amazing about the game is my best all around player, Antoine Blandford was in foul trouble all night. He only played 27 minutes in a game I'd hoped him to play 35.

My recruiting turned out better than expected. Ann Arbor and I are on Spencer Woltz. He's Good+ for winning so our matchup one week from Wednesday could loom large for that recruiting battle.

I'm on Jim Bohn with Canton(2-7) and Milwaukee (6-3). Bohn is also Good+ for winning so it looks like Milwaukee and Lansing will fight to the wire for him.

My 3rd max is Hakeem Kamer. He's a 7/7 tie. I'm on him with 5 of the 8 squads in his home region, as well as Waterloo in conf. 18. He's Good+ for winning too. Hopefully the Conf. 17 guys will beat each other up.

We're on a five game winning streak, and our recruiting this season is going to depend on us finishing the season strong.

I'm pleasantly surprised with my back-ups. Of the 16, only 4 have more than 21 points on them. None of them are 0/0 leads though. Interestingly, this is the first time I've seen backups at 10/10+ ties. I've got on which the leader has 20 RPE, and there are 11 people on the W3/W12.

As long as I play my cards right I should avoid a walk-on during my first season. That's all I was hoping for.

Wow. My W3's are very weird. Jaycee Kohn turned into a 7 way tie, Troy Whitaker a 14 way tie, and Richie Peyton a 4 way tie. Pretty sure the only guy I'll be staying on his Peyton and possibly Kohn. I've got an amazing 9 guys that I'm either tied or in the lead. 2 of them(Max Smart conf 8 and Herman Grady conf 13) I had 18 RP's and will max them the rest of the way. I will also max Roberto Castillo(tied for the lead with 16 RP's) of conf 31 the rest of the way.

My maxes ended up being 10/10 (#7 or so guy), 6/6 (in the low 30's), and a 1/1 (not on the list). I managed to get one 0/0 backup guy with good att's, but horrible stats. I'm hoping it's because he's playing SF at 6'2". I'm not exactly sure how I'll be spending my points from now on. I am trying to decide whether to drop one of the big ties now, or to wait and see how many others (if any) drop off next week. I guess I'll see how points are spent during the week. Good luck everyone.

Just to let you know I might have to drop out of our preseason tournament. Another conference has approached mine about a conference challenge. Anybody wanna play in the next regular season? My team's not gonna be nearly as good. We're losing 3 starters, including our star PF.

My recruiting's looking okay. I'm in 8/8 and 5/5 ties for stud big men, a 2/2 and 1/1 for scorers, and have two clear leads on backups (if I can even call them that, they're pretty bad). If I can somehow land one of the big guys, a scorer, and a scrub, I'll be extremely happy.

I agree with J. I don't like the recruiting system either. And it's not because I got a sucky trio of freshman. I almost wish they would just get rid of the idea of "maxes" and just give us 17 points to work with every week...that'd sure be interesting! ;)

Hey guys I just want to apologize again for the scrimmage mishap.

How'd your recruits turn up?

Jim Bohn +5: Should be a four year starter at PG. The only reason he won't is if I replace Rashawn Jolly with a PG and move Bohn to SG his senior season. I won a 1/1 with Milwaukee to get him. Very pleased.

Chuck Sloan +1: I won a 1/1 non-max tie for him. He's probably a career backup but I still like his stats and feel like he should play above his attributes. I'm going to give him a chance at SF in scrimmages. Who knows what'll happen with him, I do have +0 guy in L4 who made first team all conference.

Armon Sullivan +2(-1): He will be NA this season and then a pretty good bPG for the next 3.

I'm happy with this class, although I could've used some size to replace Blandford. It's not a huge deal, since Cheatham actually played better as PF than SF last season. If I can get one more star in this next recruiting class I will have a very, very good team until my sophmores graduate.

Hey guys,

I just realized that I need your league ID not your team number.

Also, we'll have the loser pay, that way each team will only be on the hook for $0.50 and the champ gets to play for free. If you only have "Pseudo Credits" let me know because you'll have to schedule the game because you can't transfer the credits.

I'm gonna seed it based on last year's power ranking.

PS-Did they change the number of Pseudo credits we get each season? I have 600 in my account right now and I know I used almost all of them last season.

I've done all my recruiting in conf. so far, and noone from my conf. was on the top 75 list. That is certainly subject to change however. I am just not sure if I'll be dropping any maxes. I might just hand out a few more scholarships and 4 1 pointers, and let it ride. Guess it depends on the top 75 list fluctuation. Anyway, good luck everybody.

Balls- I think you should go for broke.

I think the way to win this league is go for broke with your recruiting class. Once you get one or two players studs players, build around them with lessor recruits the next two seasons and try to win when your studs are juniors or seniors.

At least that's how I'm gonna do it. My juniors were ranked #2/#9 so I'm trying to do it with them.

DWetzal, I ended up dropping off Lay, I just didn't want to get into a tie with a 5'8" player. I'm maxing Kellen Rollins (#60). I'll probably drop off Rollins or Pearl (most likely Pearl.)

I tried a new backup strategy in L4 and it worked really well, I'm thinking it might be the strategy Jeff has used so well the past couple of seasons. I want to try it in L15 so I can't max 4 the whole season.

Crews came out a 9/9. I think atleast 2 of the don't match his prefs and the 1 guy I think does, is talking about maybe dropping him. Hmmm.

Rudd came in at 8/8. No clue here.

Shackleford also came in at 8/8. Again, no clue.

My main backup, I trail 56 to 66 but its a 1/1: 7'1" Logon Donoho (29). His Good- for Win hurts us.

I have a few backups I am close on, but don't know if I "go for the gusto" on the large ties. Ugh.

Malik Jarboe (C15, FFEFGF PG) is a 1/1
Darryl Pearl (C15 stud SG) is an 8/8 and I'll drop.
Freddie Winebrenner (C23, EGEFEF PG) is a 3/3.

Not a lot of love in the safety net but enough to take a shot at one or two people and see if I get lucky.

I'm sick of Lg15 recruiting.

Funny thing is one of the main reasons I joined was so I could have 83 RPs every week. I realize we're all on an equal playing field, but 70 just makes recruiting so limited. I don't even care if the ties are bigger, I want to be on more than 4 recruits at a time!

RSF, I was thinking the same thing until these new recruits arrived. I win a 4/4 tie for a +5 recruit and bring in a +9/-1 class. This does raise my interest in this lg up a notch.

I am starting to think that these leagues that are difficult to recruit in just aren't any fun, or not as fun as the less active leagues. In the real world, coaches know who they are signing on signing day. In the less active leagues you can usually find a clear lead or two or three. You pretty much know who you are going to sign in those leagues. Lg 15 is not even close to the real world. To much luck involved if you ask me.

I should note that Polack's NTT championship was because of his mad skillz and not luck. :)

Hey guys! I was on vacation last week and I returned to watch a great final four.

I won the semi-finals game by 1 on a buzzer beater after blowing a 14 point second half lead.

I won the finals by 2 with a jumper with 18 seconds left-- my opponant missed a 3 at the buzzer. I was down 14 early in the second half and came back.

This has got to be one of the worst champions in league history, I've had several teams in L4 that I believe were rated much higher than this Lansing squad.

My lineup was:

PG +5 -- bPG +1
SG +5 -- bSG +2
SF +3 -- bSF +2
PF +3 -- bPF +2
C +5 -- bC 0

I've got a guy in my top 35 recruits that is a 6'6 SG averaging over 15 ppg and 1.4 stls and 2.1 to's. He is a fair- scout with terrible attributes. The top person on him has 16 points, I have 15 and the W3 is 1/2. No one has put any points on him since the W3's were released. Anyone enterested? Leave an email addy if you are and I'll send you his info.

Depending on what happens this week I might have another guy that I have a clear lead on that I can give to a good home. :) I'm hoping to catch up on another recruit this week. I'll post again next week if he becomes available.

How many of us are in this league now?
