I don't know if anyone here remembers me, but I used to be pretty active on RotoGuru a few years ago. If so, hello! If not, well, hello!
Anyway, I am just getting back into SSB and was wondering if anyone had the spread sheet to download the recruits in each of the leagues to. This was invaluable during my seasons of dominance in SSB. :)
Thanks in advance! |

I actually was in the process of rewriting it as a VBS file to by pass the Excel versioning issues.
jeff1137 needs to reveal some of his "super recruiting" techniques. Dude is flat-out consistently topnotch.
When I get done with it, I'll release it, but it is a huge backburner item.

Thanks, RSF. I guess I'll have to recruit the old fashioned way until you release it.
BH, no, you suck, and ESPN does, too. Sweeney may be the single greatest player to have ever played the game. I think we can both agree on that.

Haha, Crazy GDogg. Welcome back.
I also recently got back into SSB, in League 11, entering my 2nd season. That league is in exhibition so I wonder if you are also in this league?

What's up, guys?
I'm in League 1, entering my first season and just finished all my recruiting actions. I'm the new coach of New Orleans (rather fitting, considering where I just graduated from).
I thought about just joining a league in exhibition, which would have been league 11, but I figured I wouldn't "know" anyone in that league and decided to join in on League 1 in its first week.
By the way, bmd, I'm maxing a guy in your conference. Bad idea?

I'm going to add an additional (and final) team in League 4. So, I'll be there with you next season RSF. I sorta feel obligated to that league.
But, 1 and 4 will be my only two teams.

Only if his preference is to stay local. Not because I might recruit just that you'll have a distinct disadvantage if he wants to close to home.
So your done with law school? It seemed like only yesterday you were fretting about leaving to go there.

His local preference is None+. When I was playing, the locality preference didn't exist, so I have no idea strong an indicator of where he will sign it is. He also doesn't care how well a team does and wants to be an impact player, so I think I'd be a great fit for him. Any insights into these indicators?
Yup, law school is over. I can honestly say that it was the fastest (and most stressful) 3 years of my life. I'm glad it's over, but I have to admit that I had a great time (despite the constant studying).
I'm glad to see that you, JKaye, RSF and even bh are still around. I guess things have changed TOO much around here in the last 3 years. Is Chris still around?

I normally don't recruit outside of the indicators. I don't base my decisions on them but I won't step foot near an OOC guy that is G local or better. In fact, I will only recruit a G/E Local preference guy if he is in my conference. The impact rating is helpful when you are losing a superstar, for example if you have a senior stud center I'd probably recruit 2 G/E impact centers. I wouldn't be recruiting Win preference recruits unless your record is very good. The top teams normally flock to the studs that have G or E Win preference.
Most everybody is still around. I catch Chris on AIM every once awhile.

I checked out League 4 and found it cool they have a "Most Wins" stat. I checked my old team, Abilene and sure enough the Most Wins were 21 from Season 9. I can't recall how many seasons I played up to (13, 14?) But now in Season 32, its clear the program has gone downhill since I left. ;)

Thanks, bmd. I'll stick with the guy, then. I'm sure a ton of coaches will be on the guy, but whatever.
I checked out League 4, too. That "Most Wins" stat is pretty cool. I still have the record in Gainesville with 22 in Season 17, my championship year for the "DoggyDoggs." Just like JKaye and Abilene, though, my successor at coach has run the Gainesville program into the ground. :(
League 4 restarts next week or the following week?

What's up, Twarpy? I remember that, too, and it was pretty funny.
I just added Blacksburg, which I think is probably worse than your Long Beach team, JKaye.
Blacksburg, as a team, is a +9...total. This is, without a doubt, one of the worst teams in the entire league, and possibly in the entire game. I can't even stroll any height out there as I have only two players over 6-4 and they are both 6-7.
Yet, through some bizarre fluke or the guy just trying to throw the game, Blacksburg won the first game I "coached" last night, albeit a preseason one.
I doubt I'll look at any of the pbp's for this team, and just focus my efforts on recruiting.
Where's that spreadsheet, rsf? :)

I got you beat GDogg. My team is +6 total. Last 2 finishes in power rankings: 231, 235. No recruiting class ranked higher than 211 the last two years. I'll probably pay the $5 to have the extra 15 RP.

Haha, I guess you do, JKaye. Last 2 power rankings: 230, 229. I think it was my stellar +2, 173/148 Freshman recruiting class that put me over the top.
RSF, I'm probably going to go large, too, but due to being somewhat a rookie at SSB again, I have no idea what "SS" is. I would definitely share it with you, though, if someone would tell me what it is.

The scary part is that +5 of the +6 come from this freshman class (227/211 ranked). Of course, all of them are Good INT and 1 is Good ATHL so thats 4 of the 5. Good to know I'll have a smart team in the future. In fact if you take away INT and ATHL, my team is a -1.

Your team is clearly worse than mine, then. Where I get hurt is that I have one good defensive player, and 2 poor defensive players to go with a bunch of fairs (many of which I suspect are close to poor). Combine that with only one guy who has shot over 50% in his career and I have a team that can score, can't rebound (+2), and has no way of stopping anybody. This will be a long road back.
Ok, so I've used the recruiting SS (got the lingo down now) for League 1, but didn't find it to be all that helpful because I couldn't figure out a way to sort, which yours used to do.
I am declaring the large program and I think it works immediately, so let me know what I should do to make it available to everyone.

League 4 Recruiting:
I decided to buy a lottery ticket for #1 recruited Kevin Lizotte. Without high desire to stay local or play for a winner, I figured WTF.
I am on another big man who is not on the list, Darryl Bowens from my conference. He's 6'10 vs Lizotte's 7'1, but I would be just as happy with him based on his stats.
My other two maxes are also on the most rec. list. #12 Frederick Patel and #65 Alton Labrie, who wasn't originally on the list but has gotten more action.
In game play my team is 0-5, and no one is surprised.

Thanks for asking, bmd. Yeah, I got out after graduating and took the bar in California. However, I still have a ton of friends in New Orleans, not to mention the fact that I absolutely love the city and it crushes me to have seen everything that has happened to it. This is devastating.
Well, I have gotten in touch with pretty much everyone I know that were still living in NO when Katrina (then Rita) struck, and everyone is in good shape, although they stil don't know about their homes. This was as of a few days ago. Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco are letting people back into the two zip codes I lived in while in New Orleans, so I guess that is a good sign for those neighborhoods.
As for Tulane...it really sucks for all those law students (and all students). Schools throughout the country were letting in Tulane law students free of charge for the semester, provided all tuition and fees had already been paid to Tulane. The Ivy league schools were all taking 10 Tulane students each on a first-come, first-served basis.
I've spoken to a couple of third-year law students, and they are really torn as to what to do. Most of the law schools are willing to take Tulane students for the full year. Tulane intends to open for the Spring semester. However, lots of law students that are "visiting" for the semester at other law schools chose to live off-campus and are now bound to year leases. Two of the people I spoke with don't even know if their place is still standing back in New Orleans. They don't think it's fair that Tulane would make them come back for the fall semester when they don't know if they have housing or if they'll be able to find housing. I tend to agree with them. The other problem they need to deal with is that they'd rather not have to essentially transfer back in the middle of the semester.
Supposedly a bunch of first-year students have decided, after Rita, that it isn't worth it and will not be attending Tulane. Poor decision, I think.
Anyway, back to SSB. My two teams are terrible and I have the second-worst in League 4. I am 0-14 and it doesn't look like I'll get my first W anytime soon in that league.
Recruiting-wise: Well, Katrina hit the first week of recruiting for L4 and my mind just wasn't on the game. Thus, I forgot to recruit and the computer picked 6 players for me. None of them are stars, but I have 2 clear leads. I would have had 3, but I dropped off a guy (who I'd like to have) and chased a guy who wasn't on the top 75 list. Well, he was being maxed and I wasted 2 weeks of maxes on him. Oh well.
Anyway, Blacksburg sucks and that won't change next season as I have no impact players coming in as of now.
Sorry for the long-winded post. Thanks for reading it if you made it this far. :)

Just got my first recruiting after being away from the game for 3 years. I am pretty ecstatic.
My league 1 New Orleans Rabid Chipmunks were terrible, finishing 8-16. We had a little height, but no player over 6-8 with 3 of those 6-8 guys being -1's or worse. We landed:
Wayne Berry: This guy is a 6-10 +5 player who is E F F G G G. He averaged over 28 ppg and 8.7 rpg. Oh, and he was the #1 most recruited player and I won a 7/7 tie to get him. Yes, I got lucky, but I don't care.
Luke Wright: P E F G F F, 6-10 guy. Perfect fit at PF for us. Uncontested safety-net guy. 51 RPE spent to get him.
Roland Pullum: G F P F P G, 6-11 guy. Shot over 50% for 21 ppg, and over 7 rpg. He'll be a great backup C for 4 years. Spent 31 RPE on him, he was uncontested and I was the only one who spent a single RPE or scholarship on him.
How were everyone else's classes that are in league 1?
By the way, congrats for being runner-up, bmd.

Fort Wayne brought in a pretty good class. We missed out on our #1 prospect who looked like he is going to be a superstar. Overall the class is a +12 /-1. Brought in 3 kids that our 6'8 and taller. None of the three can shoot but all have some rebounding and defensive skillz.
We made it to the final four last season and then lost to bmd. I think I'll be very lucky to make it back to the final 4 this season. Defense and rebounding is how we'll be winning games this season.

You may need to be lucky to make it back to the final 4, but I'll be lucky if I can somehow finish in the top 4 of my conference. I've got a decent nucleus, but no depth. Pretty much all of my backups would have been NA on any of my previous teams. It'll be nice when I finally turn them around.
balls, do you (and/or bmd) want to scrimmage? I'll pay for it. I'm trying to figure out a good tempo/defense for this team. My team won't be much of a challenge, although we have a few good players, but at least you can look at another box score/play by play.

Yeah, Berry's gonna be an animal. He may turn out to be the best player I've ever had. A 6-10 guy who can shoot like that and rebound makes things tough down low for opposing teams.
I've never had a C who can score, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to use him. I figure slow will be the best tempo, so that we can have time to work the ball to him.
He struggled in the first preseason game, though, but I expect a big season and career from the guy.
I'm shocked about Meyer. I figured he'd be PE/GEEGG. Then again, if the guy is getting those steals and blocks, it doesn't really matter what the attribute says. He's probably borderline G defense and would go up with some practice. Berry and Meyer should be a good test for each other.
I went slow/zone.

G, last weekend at Mizzou I ran into some girl I used to party with that was going to be a 3rd year law student at Tulane. Her name is Amanda, blonde hair, kinda short, never shuts up. She's up at Mizzou for the fall semester and will finish up at Tulane in the spring.
Youngstown pulled in 3 decent recruits, Madden Lajoie 6-7 EGGFFG Gary Sumner 6-6 FGFGFF Bennie Ramos 6-10 GGFFFF
All averaged 18+ PPG and 1+ steals so I fairly happy with them. Publications rank them 52/56 so perhaps they aren't as great as I think they are.
I'm open to scrimmages. We should be solid again this year probably 15-25 in the power rankings.

bmd, do you know her last name and did she go to SE Mo St.? If so, I don't know her, but I've seen her around school. I would seriously doubt that she knows who I am.
Ramos was a guy I gave a point to. I was going to try to chase him and get a clear lead, but all my maxes were ties and I decided to stay on them. I thought he looked real good.
I'll send you a scrimmage request. I'm trying to get a guage on what my team will be like this year and what settings work best. Use whatever settings and lineup you'd like. You are probably going to kill me, but it'll help to get a read on my team.
balls, great game! I don't know if that was your "best" lineup or not, but if we can stay remotely close to a team of your caliber, then I like our chances for a PTT berth and maybe get hot in a conference tourney run.
Your team must have a pretty good D because I have no idea what my SG, Tello, was doing taking 11 shots. I really wanted Berry to get a lot more shots than that.
Anyway, great game and thanks for sending me back a scrimmage. I'm going slow/normal.

I'm announcing my official retirement effective the 19th of October from rotoguru and simhoops. Hopefully this will just be a short leave of absence and that I will be back in a few months. As some of you may know I have been trying to enlist into the Army since April. Just yesterday I swore in and have signed a contract for the next 3 years to serve my country. I will be sent to Fort Knox, KY on the 20th of this month. I will spend over 20 weeks there doing both basic training and job training. I look forward to the challenges that will come my way these next 3 years.
I've enjoyed my time here and I want to say thanks to each and every one of you for the friendships I've established these past 6 (good lord 6!?!?) years. Best of luck to everyone!

Let's see, vid. You hit a three to send it to OT, then blow me out. Tuscaloosa then hits a three to send it to OT against me...then blows me out. I need to stay the hell out of OT.
My guys clearly can't go an extra 5 minutes. I'd like to have my starters sub more, but I just don't have the depth yet.
It looks like you've got another great team/season to look forward to. I've got Biloxi with my PG out to look forward to. 1-4 here I come!

beastie-good luck to you too. Amazing run I have had but my luck has to run out. Surprised as anything I got by Minny and then jeff's monster Glendale squad. Good game jeff and tough tough loss.
You've got a great team there beastie and a win by Branson would shock me.

Yes, KM. bmd, vid, jkaye (I think), twarpy, and myself are all in League 4. However, League 1 just started up, and we are all in that one, as well, I think. So, you might want to go that route. Or, just grab a team in both, which is what I did.

So, Slow/Man in both games for me with what I expect is my best lineup.

I'll challenge you. KM, you're in Conference 1...my old conference from my first tour of sim sports. I used to have Reading. The coaches in that conference fluctuate a bit, but two will always be in that conference - glstand and pick6king (the creator of the game).
Glstand always has an excellent team, so you may get beat up a bit by Buffalo, but p6k is so busy that his teams tend to be up and down, so you should be able to compete with Washington shortly, depending on your talent level.
Anyway, I'm sending you a scrimmage right now.

I hear ya. I'm still rebuilding. By the way, you still haven't accepted the scrimmage. I'm not sure how long it will be available before it expires.
vid, thanks for the beat down. Right now, it looks like my team is a turnover machine. I have no idea how this happened, as we lost a +0 hands (G, F, and P hands) Sr. class, but brought in a +1 (G, F, F) Fr. class. Bizarre.
Also, have you guys ever seen a player actually get worse? My PG, Romero, seems to be going backward. He was terrific his Fr. season and was having a great So. season until his last 2 games when he turned it over like 9 times. Now, in one exhibition game and a scrimmage, he has 8 turnovers. So, that's 17 in his last 4 games. He's really the key to the season and if this continues, I am in deep trouble.
Anyway, vid and KM, accept your scrimmages, por favor. I'm buying.

League 4 I took over a god-awful Long Beach team and went 5-19. So far this year we are 7-11 with a nice recruiting class potentially on the way.

I'll play you in whatever type of game you'd like. My team is horrible and probably won't be much better. I made some big time mistakes in recruiting this season and I have to win some times. With my record, I don't see that happening.
So, if you want an automatic W, I'm willing to take another loss. 5 wins in two seasons makes losses pretty irrelevant to me.

That does suck. Let me know if you want the spreadsheet next season, RSF. My little lady taught me how to use it, so I am pretty happy with it now.
For the League 1 guys, who are you maxing? Right now, I need a PG and two SF's, so I am on:
Ricardo Hannah from C17, Cedar Rapids Pasquale Cepeda from C23, Houston Willy Brown from C1
I'm still looking for another SF-type to max. I'd rather not get into a recruiting battle with a gurupie because, quite frankly, I'd lose.

Charles Thompson, 6-9, C2, #40 Cyril Key, 6-11, C10 Brien Stephenson, 6-11, C11, #70 Barry Montoya, 6-11, C22, #49
Surprised to see Key not ont he top 75 list. EXC- shooting, defenses, and rebounding at that height.

Can anyone contact jeff1137 and find out what his secret in League 4 recruiting is?
My recruiting class is awful. I screwed up, yet again.
Leslie Fox 6-5 - +1 Gregg Miracle 6-9 - +3 Lionel Boyer 6-2 - -1
I like Miracle. Fox can score. Boyer will be NA for his career, hopefully.
The League 1 recruiting deal has screwed me up, I think. Two guys, Willy Brown and Kenneth Bolding, were nowhere to be found, then after the "fair" preferences switch, they both catapulted up to the 40's. So, now I am on #47, 44, 2, and 1. I hope W3's aren't as bad as I think it will be.
Seriously, we need to get jeff's secret.

I don't have any clue how that happened. My team is pretty terrible, in most respects. Fox has prove to be an outstanding scorer. He can't do much else, but his ability to score so well is probably the difference between my team and others at yours and my level, right now.
I guarantee you my team isn't better than yours, though. And, bmd would destroy me, as well.

Anybody ever have a healthy guy not log any minutes in a game? My lg 1 team had my bC not playing a minute. It seems he's only played in 14 of our 17 games(averaging 10 minutes a game). Everybody is set to sub out normal. Wouldn't be such a problem except my bC could easily be starting and is probably my best shooter.

Why not have your starting C on sub more then to get your bC more minutes?
But, to answer your question, no, I have never seen that. That's really bizarre.

My starting center is a 7-1 Sr GEFEGF so subbing him out more isn't an option. I'm changing up things and inserting my bC in at SF to see what he's got as a starter, if anything he should be fresh.

Why isn't that an option? Is he a headcase? I tried to put my C on sub more, but he went into the tank the two games I tried it. So, that wasn't an option for him because he's clearly a headcase.
But, if I could get great production out of a superstar on sub more, and my backup was a good player, I'd do it. Then again, I'm not one of the all-time winningest SSB coaches, so I'll defer to you on coaching.
At least Ramos played when you moved him to SF. Is he on shoot less or did he just not shoot? Still, I looked at your previous box scores and Ramos not playing is bizarre. Have you looked at your pbp's to see who subbed in for your C? I'd email p6k about that. My Lg 4 team has consistently had the backup guards start the second half in the last few games, which I've found bizarre as well.
Well, I'm in the NTT by winning the Play-In. I've got some talented players, but lack quality depth. It seems my team is peaking, though, but it probably won't matter much. I play Cheyenne in the first round. I want to win badly, but in reality, keeping the score within 10 would be great for my team. I've seen 16 seeds beat 1 seeds before in the game, though, so who knows?
How do you guys like your matchups?

I have him at 6 shoot for both of them. Of course I have 3 others in my starting lineup with 6+ for shoot. Still 2 shots is pretty weird. Of course my bSF played 15 minutes and only made the boxscore by committing 2 fouls, not to mention my bench recording only 1 rebound. I'm keeping Ramos in as a starter as he's proven he'll actually shoot more than twice in scrimmages I ran yesterday.
Don't know what to think of my first round matchup. We should win but there's no definites in this game. With a 1/1 class graduating we need to win this year.
I think your team has a decent shot. Berry should be able to work their freshman center. Their guards are scary but it looks like your guards have the D to cover them.

I was going to ask you about what you put your shooters on. What else do you put your guys on? Do you ever put anyone on 8 or 9? What do you put your F shooters on? The individual numbers weren't around when I played before, so I haven't really got it down yet. I'm not exactly sure what they mean. I'm assuming 5 would have been "normal." 2 maybe "less." And, I assumed 8 would have been "more."
Anyway, I think you'll destroy Aurora. It looks like his SG and C are pretty good, but I doubt that'll be a problem with your C and SG. In fact, I think this is a horrible matchup for Aurora.
I think I've got a small chance. Berry seems to be getting hot. This was the time of year last season when he put together a few straight 30 point games, so I'm hoping it happens again. Their guards, though, are definitely good. And, yeah, the strength of my defense is at the guard positions. Romero is a G (probably +) defense and G (probably +) ATH. He forces about 4 TO's per game for opposing PG's. Lynch is an E defender (low E), but he's been torched by some stud SG's in my conference. He's been better of late, though. Both backup guards are G defense. So, Cheyenne is probably the best "matchup" we could hope for from the #1 team in League. We'll see.

Can't remember who I play but I should win. They play fast so it should be turnover city. I think for the first time ever I'm going normal versus man to man defense. Don't want my center getting into foul trouble.
This is not an NTT title contender though so I should get knocked out the first week. Lol.
Good luck!

Congrats to you guys! Nice, blowout wins!
I lost to Cheyenne by 11. Was down by 18 with a little over 10:00 to go in the first half. Down 15 at the half. Fought back to get to within 6 with 5:00 to go. We both went scoreless for a couple minutes, then traded baskets to be down by 6 with 2:00 to go. For some reason, we then began fouling. They made 7 free throws (including two with 2 seconds to go) and a basket over the last 2:00 minutes. I made two baskets. Final score 72-61.
So, we essentially lost by 6 before the trips to the FT line or 9 other than the last second intentional foul. I'd have to say that either my team is VASTLY underrated or Cheyenne is waaay overrated. After that initial 10 minutes, my team outscored them by 12 until the last minute. There just wasn't that much that separated my team and Cheyenne. Granted, this was only one game, though, and we may have played well over our heads.
Bottom line. I don't know if Cheyenne is a championship-type team. You both have much better teams than I do, so if either of you meet them, you guys have to have the edge.
And, that concludes another long-winded post from me. Law school ruined my ability to be concise. My apologies. Speaking of which, my old school re-opened two weeks ago with 86% of enrollment prior to Katrina.

vid, are you recruiting Gerald Miller?
For any of you in Lg. 1:
What would you guess are the attributes of Kelly Stutzman from Region 13, Athens in Lg. 1? I am tied for the lead with 16 RPE's on him, but I am 1 behind the lead on another guy similar to him, Lee Harris (Region 14, Canton). Who would you go after?
Harris: 6-6, 3.2/55, Scout: Exc., Pos.: SG G+ G- F- G- F+ 19.2 PPG, 3.7 RPG, .8 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.2 TOPG, .2 BPG HS Team Info: F F P E- F- on 7-6 team w/ 6-6 avg. height.
Stutzman: 6-6, 3.0/51, Scout: Good, Pos.: PG F+ F F+ F- F+ 23.2 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.8 TO's, .2 Blk's. HS Team Info: 11-2 team - F F- F P- F
I think I like Stutzman better, but the G scout with those attributes scares me. What do you guys think?
I know this plays into Twarpy's memory of me, but what is the furthest back in points you've chased a recruit? I have 15 points on what I think is one of the best PG's out there and the top RPE is 32. That 32 still hasn't moved. Would you chase him?
I wouldn't ordinarily care about any of this info and would just guess myself, but with a good recruiting class, my team has the potential to be really good next season.

That's right. Gurupies dominate when they actually try to win.
It's nice to be ranked highly, but I am still getting the hang of things. One thing that hasn't changed is that bmd dominates every league he's in. How long are you staying as a Small program in L1?
L1 NO was rolling right along until injuries hit. Jay Lynch, Robert Cisee, and Luke Wright all dropped to 9. They are all back at 10 after I lost 2 of the last 3 games, but I am benching Lynch and Wright for tomorrow and maybe Monday.
Did anyone notice I grabbed L4 Tulsa? Umm, did anyone notice what that last recruiting class was rated for them? (Blacksburg didn't do too badly, either).
RSF, I hate that you have Clinton Crenshaw on your team. He is supposed to be in Blacksburg.

Hey guys, I'm back. I just got a team again in lg 4, Independence in conf 18. I've been back to Simhoops for a few months now. I tried my password for my Tucson team but couldn't login. All my other passwords still worked for my other teams. Not sure why I couldn't login to Tucson. Anyways I finished bootcamp in March and am stationed in Germany, and currently am deployed in Iraq. Germany is a blast and Iraq sucks. Been here for about a month now and have seen 4 ied's hit our convoy. Luckily my truck hasn't been hit yet. Twice the vehicle right behind me was hit.
