2 Players for the Atlanta Samuri have there attributes available to all.

Here we go

Their #1 WR

Amani Toomer

The #1 TE

Jay Novacek

Toomer has a 37 speed. Speedy Mcpickster has the same so we should be ok there.

I have boosted. I think our TE triumvirate are a great option for our offense. I tried to gear towards stamina so that I can be an option in the event that either TE ahead of me need to play at less that 100% energy.

I think that I (along with BH and SN) should hit level 8 soon. Please consider how you would like us to differentiate our spending on equipment. Based on matchups, perhaps that will make us more versatile moving forward?

Astade thanks for the boost. We are very strong a TE like you said. It's hard for me to set that depth chart week in and week out!. A note for you guys Seward, and Krish. You have been put in as back up FB now, so you should be seeing more PT. I have decided not to use the advanced stamina tatics as there has been some reported bugs in which all the backups play for the rest of the game once they come in regardless of stamina. Obviously this would be very bad and im sure Quick Williams would have a heart attack! lol

I have also tweaked a few other settings this week in the gameplan. Hope they work out. Good luck to all.

Go Gurupies!

I feel really good going into this game. If the fact that you are favored continues to hold true then this game should be ours.

Us: 3 (Rushing, Blocking, Kicking) to Them: 1 (Passing)

Tied: (Overall, Receiving, Pass Defense, Rush Defense)

Should be a good game. Here's a little stats for you guys.

Offense
Atlanta: #3 Passing, #2 Rushing, #2 Overall
Indianapolis: #4 Passing, #8 Rushing, #3 Overall

Defense
Atlanta: #7 Passing, #6 Rushing, #4 Overall
Indianapolis: #2 Passing, #5 Rushing, #2 Overall

So you know
Detroit Destroyers: #1 Offense, #8 Defense
Nashville Longshots: #12 Offense, #1 Defense
Radical Awesomers: #8 Offense, #3 Defense

This is clearly the battle of the most balanced teams, to this date. To be favored in this game is great. Let's hope our gameplan is good, executed and allowing for us to rack up another win. I'm excited and I am glad this is a weekend game. If you would like I'll be on g-mail chat and ready to have a chatroom set up so we can chat pre-game, in-game, and post-game. Rest up for the game guys!

I should also add this. Yardage is all fine and dandy, but yards don't win games. Points do.

Points Scored
Atlanta: 78 (26/game) #1
Indianapolis: 70 (23.3/game) #3

Points Allowed
Atlanta: 25 (8.3/game) #5
Indianapolis: 23 (7.7/game) #3

Gosh this is going to be a great game!
Prediction: Indianapolis 20, Atlanta 17

Post in GLB forum what you need FB Blocking tendency to be for this game. I have an idea, but want to be sure.

Also- we all got a present this evening. Bort gave everyone in the game 100 Flex Points because of glitches and bugs in the latest upgrade. Spend wisely!

I don't know if this says something about our ball control, or how good our defense is playing but I found this interesting. This may also have to do with why we are #2 overall in defense.

We have had the 2nd least amount of Defensive plays per game. Our Defense is on the field for 72.3 plays per games. If you are on our Defense and think that you are not gaining enough XP or are not seeing enough PT consult this, or blame the Offense for being on the field for 89.3 plays per game (#7 in the league)

If you are on defense know this: Atlanta is #1 in the league with 101.3 offensive plays per game. Get ready for a nice long game for you all.

Re: 13 We're pretty much sold out or on the way there.

Re: 14, great! we need you! Follow procedure we've posted here and our forum.

What a great win for us. Just saw teh final and looked at the scoring plays. How huge is RSF's Roman Gabriel. I wish he boosted. He is good already, but man, they jsut can't bring him down. Maybe we could even use him on KO returns?

How does a K as goo as ours miss 17 yard FGs and PATs? That's weird. How are so many balls deflected and still caught? Maybe we need to work on sticky hands more but I've seen that several times in various games already.

Congrats team!!!

Fanbase is now 42/15/4 in income range. I will be upping ticket prices. We've sold out of next four games, so if we don't sell any for the next few days that is fine. Rather try and see what we can get. Also need to take a look at concessions prices again.

Man just took a glance at our roster. We are getting better--though we are still even or behind in every category with our next opponent, Vermont.

Tree, I just saw you are at level 8. That helps us so much at receiving. Hopefully when you get the money for the eq (let me know) and if you are able to add custom eq that could take us out of the red right there. Also may even allow more help on ST from others.

I haven't evaluated the whole team, but we're getting there. Could prob use a backup safety and another backup lineman on both sides, but we're now deeper than most I'd imagine. Still, would like to have an edge because if the sim ran right now, we'd probably lose to Vermont. Maybe we can figure something out before then. Their Passing is WAY ahead of ours but our CBs are nice and deep. Maybe we can put JTMTDB as a backup return man and use the other corners less? Just thinking out loud. Then again, we're going to need our WRs. We are going to be tough to deal with next year. But we still have a shot this year to cause people some major problems.

I dont understand the WR ratings. We have an 8 and a 9 as starters. That is pretty much on par with our other positions and it is still red. Also if you look through all our other matchups almost every team is red in receiving and yellow in the rest. For some reason this stat just seems to be higher to raise.

Yeah Franz is upset that he missed a PAT, but forcing a fumble on Special Teams I think more than makes up for it. He is now a level 9 and has a 60 in kicking so he is pumped to keep destroying FG's. Also hopefully even the kickoffs will be going further (I would love to start getting some touchbacks) as we suck at minimizing returns (as do most teams). Has anyone ever seen a touchback and do they exist in this game? Might have to be a much higher level in strength though to get that.

dpr: agreed. WR and pass defense seem to be the hardest to raise. I'm hoping Tree's extra eq gets us yellow.

Tree, my availability is extremely limited still so contact me asap.

That free 100 flex points gets you at least a skill on custom eq.

Twarp, I haven't looked at pbp yet so I didn't know that--wow. Must be all that strength you've been training. Nice job! I know Kickers need a ton of it and DH, our punter, will be working on that I'm sure. Punters should be more of a factor soon.

confidence 31, 29
punting 45, 44.5

Congrats on the win guys. This one was in spite of our special teams and our QB. The defense really won this game for us, especially our DBs and LBs. I'll speak for one of the Safeties, this was a lackluster game from both of us. In order to win next game we'll need everyone to bring their A game. Time to start scouting Vermont.

I just finished watching the game and I liked what I saw out of Toussaint Loverture, my RG. True, he and the RT were responsible for the sack given up, but he pushed guys back and Quick ran behind him more times than ever before. I'm going to give him his last boost tomorrow and buy him the top of the line custom equip.

I think we only need a back up CB. We had a CPU get in 26 plays and he missed two tackles. He did get a pick, however.

There is no stopping the Indianapolis Gurupies train.

I swear when I watch these games I feel like I am watching the Bears games, lol.

As I was watching the game I was taking notes, from a fans perspective and not a coaching view though.

Franz misses that early FG. That hurts!

Damn just missed an 80 yard TD here

Play number 3 of a Huge Goaline Stand here for the D. They are really setting the tone here early.

Yea! Smash Mouth Big PicK!

Our Kicker cant make FG's because he is to buzy knocking players out on Special Teams. Forced Fumble by Franz

Roman never ceases to amaze me. Another huge 17 yard TD scamper

Damn Kyle what happend here?

All Players Step up today. Dawson with a huge 3rd down catch for a 1st down

Joe Roto shows 3 picks in a game doesnt bother him. Franz misses the XP!?!?

CPU player with a big INT. I was motherfn this guy the whole game.

Franz redeems himself again with a big kick. Puts us up by 2 scores

Damn HailMary worked for them. Hopefully no onside kick!

don't overlook that kid you got down on the farm team, The Assassin Austin Black. he's just outside of the top ten in tackles with 22 tackles, which i think is the most for either of the RG teams.

he's also got a forced fumble and three PDs (not bad for a linebacker)

[51] Wiggs it was ticket sales.

[41] Actually, CB is our deepest position. JT and I did some analysis yesterday and CBs are having to do a LOT more than they should. First, our ST isn't deep enough so we're having to put them on STs. One is fine but we're having to use like 3 of them. Second, our safeties are so thin (and FS is having to play SS) and the CBs aren't getting help over the top. This means they can't go for the INT. They can't cheat at all. Our SS is running up and going after the TE--even if that TE is doubled already. I thought it was a sim problem, but after looking at other teams-it isn't.

Also DE is thin. Starters can't play every play so backups play a huge role. On O, our backup C is also a backup to every other lineman. We got a new Guard to help us the other day. So when STs comes around, we need our depth to be big. Big srong quick guys for our coverage teams is big. Forced fumbles is prominent. But stamina is everything. ST play counts toward XP and is a big part of the field position. if Roman Gabriel could boost up then he might even be able to return kicks to help us out even more--not to mention how powerful our 1-2 rushing punch would be. As it is, we might have to create more players just to provide depth or shore up a position or two.

All in all, I am really happy how we've been doing. Big props to our coach JT who spends many hours on plays and depth charts for each game. He's also created a few players to help our depth. If anyone else wants to create another player--talk to JT about what position to make him.

After talking to wey last night, he convinced me to go ahead and construct all available seats for this year--so I bought the remaining 160 club seats and immediately sold them out for the rest of the year. If we can get a home playoff game, we will be set up for our added stadium construction--maybe even two sections or ust one withthe luxury boxes. We are going to need that revenue in coming years to pay our high level players. Winning is so huge financially. Tomorrow is a big test.

We are still underdogs, but we gained a smidge overnight. We're still 18 in receiving but we're no longer RED!

A big thing is trying to ensure that all our level 8+ players are taking full advantage of the regular equipment boost as well as the SA tree boost that comes with level 8 (assuming they had the +6 custom equipment already). I don't know if the coaches/GM are keeping track, but you should probably have chats with everyone to make sure they have all this gear (the regular equipment upgrades and SA boosted custom in particular... if they can afford the +6 upgrades to their custom that's icing on cake).

Vermont does have us beat in passing/recieving categories, but we've got the rushing edge. This game will be a big test for our DBs who have performed admirably so far this season. Speedy will be at 99 energy going into this game and is ready to shut 'em down!!!

Remember, they just gave everyone 100 free flex points.

Looks like we could use another OT too for depth. I just keep thinking what if...all our guys used all of the possible flex points to boost and use custom eq...we added 3 or 4 more players for depth...we could be VERY tough to beat.

Re: 58, I totally get that, and am not saying everyone "has to", but it's a pretty major difference (2-4 levels worth) between having full custom equipment and having none, and needs to be factored into the depth chart equation at each position. So all I'm saying is to keep that in mind, and that it would be helpful to know who does and who doesn't. You can glean some of that info from looking at player profiles, but if I was coach/GM I'd be keeping a spreadsheet. Also lets us know who could "potentially" improve themselves prior to a game, etc.

IMHO it's better to only create 2nd/3rd players with extra flex points if/when you have enough to fully equip (900 flex points) and 3x boost each season (varies by position, but 300-1200 FP more). If you are spending your FPs on a bunch of low-level guys, you might have fun and that's totally your call, but keep in mind they'll all likely end up 2nd-stringers, not as much PT, etc. because they won't be able to keep up. Quality over quantity.

There might be a certain strategy to waiting to implement depth chart changes until shortly prior to game time so as not to reveal our hand to opponents. I'll leave that to the GM/coaches and realize there are real-life time constraints, etc.

Sarge if you can use FPs, we really need that SS to boost up. He's the only one on our team and he's lvl 3.

I guess JT is guessing we will have anotehr backup at FS, so it's better than nothing for sure. JT and I tried to figure out why our FS playing at SS doesn't behave as expected, but hopefully it will get better.

If anyone has time to boost or get custom eq before the gmae, it would sure help. There are still a couple other very good teams in this league we're going to have to face--but this game is HUGE. VT has boosted or added players and now we are bigger underdogs. They gained 3 points on us in overall. And that pretty much controls the sim.

They are ahead of us in Receiving-3, Rush D-3, Passing-6, and we are ahead in rushing. But their better rush D will offset that.

If someone boosts or lvls, let us know as it could be a factor in depth chart or game planning. I also can get cash to the lvl 8s.

One is a CPU and the other belongs to Toral.
It would be too late to work out a trade for today but something to think about for next game.

J, just an idea...any way you can add the ability trees in there? They start to play a factor at lvl 8. Also, can you figure out the color codes as to which numbers are affected by equipment so it's easier to see who is wearing custom eq?

Also don't forget to equip your custom eq.

i sent out a trade offer...we're getting killed out there, and need to make better use of some of your players in a spot where they can start and thrive.

you've got LVL 9 shutdown corners taking 25 to 30 snaps a game. you've got a lvl 4 DE riding your pine - we don't even have two DEs that are human players.

we can develop more players more quickly and improve both our teams by co-operating a bit more.

I recall someone's (Ref's I think) chart of the best rolls you should look for when creating players of various positions that I thought I would start with.

Is confidence a valuable skill? I'm trying to decide if I should train +.52 confidence vs. +.46 speed or stamina... I've been consistently building speed/stamina/catching etc. Just curious everyone elses point of view on how important the confidence category is.

Boosted my route running, agility and catching this morning.

Ok........so when Tree gave his guide for rolling a new player, he references an ideal roll - in my case for DT for example - of 52-54. When I just rolled my first guy, my physical attributes are up top (Strength, agility, speed, jumping), and when I add them up I get only 47.

Are those the right attributes to be basing the success of my roll over?

ahhhhhh.....he means the key attributes he notes in his post. In the case of a DT:

DT:
Stats - Strength, Agility, Tackling
Ideal Range - 52-54
Highest Roll - 54
Notes - You can really get some nice stats out of this one...20, 18, 16 for me.

I got a 54 on my 2nd roll :) 21 strength, 18 agility and 15 tackling. He's born!

Minor categories are vision and speed. Speed is more important if you are building a pass rusher and less important if you are building a run stopper.

Huge upset, great game.

I Am An Ape sure responded to being "demoted", though if you watch the game, he took more snaps on D than Haya Griva. Even though Griva has a 32 Stamina, he's down to 55 Energy after the game. I think he needs to be removed from one or more of the Special Teams. He didn't take too many snaps on D.

Next two weeks we should coast. Hopefully few of our players will take more than 60 snaps, let's make sure our bench gets plenty of experience.

SmashMouth was all day. They ran at him and he lit em up, 13 tackles. Gave up nothing He set the tone here on the 2nd play of the game, Somebody's getting in the backfield on their big scary offensive line

The Linebackers's communication and persuit was a thing of beauty.
There were some missed tackles on this play, (the LineBackers helped CB Steven Baca clean the cleatmarks off the back of his helmet later), The LB"s stayed with it. Look howJoe Punk redirects his angle of persuit to back up in case of another miss.

Eric Wiggins hung back, read the play and leveled this guy twiceEric Wiggins sets up to hammer the TE as he catches the ball The ball went flying and Wiggins did the exact same thing to the same guy 3rd down in the next series.

Ronnie Boozer dropped his Custom Equipment Bourbon Shorty late in the 4th Q and saw the Vermont RB pick it up, On the next play he mirrored him, read the play and got it back.
Ronnie tracks and mauls the guy who took his Bourbon Shorty

The coaches on this team are freaking brilliant workaholics, you guys should come with us tonight too...

JUST THROW HIM THE DAMN BALL.

What a win!

I just finished watching the game play by play before knowing the score (which is so much better)

That was such a huge play at the end.

4-1 now with 2 big wins in a row.

That CB Baca was a lvl 1 CPU who shouldn't ahve been on the field. We cut him after the game.

Joe jsut pointed out how drained we are on D. We spent a lot on a great team. Our CBS were in Nickel a lot and we're tired but not as bad as our D-Line. Some of you guys are actually in the 50s in energy. Make sure you train on relaxed. Wejsut added a lvl 4 DE in Species to help us, but now we may need another DT to help. OT is also thin. We may need to get our Corners off of so many returns jsut to save us up. We are deep and doing well, but a big Offense like VT just depleted us.

Tree, I hope you are overstating. I talked to wey extensively last night and really enjoy working with him to help both teams. I have recruited a lot of players here and some of them are on Berzerk. I sent out another dozen invites to strong players last night. Obviously we want both teams to succeed. It's pretty difficult to succeed in this game w/o boosting and loading up on eq. I can understand the panic, but perhaps if everyone can think of a few players that might want to invite to play and boost right away they can get some more players that can help our teams.

Depth is key, but we also found that we have to max out our players. I think we are willing to do what we can to help your team w/o sacrificing our team's mission of winning now. In fact, some of the players we recruited that are playing for you would be helping us now. We just released our best backup DE, BUCKNAKED (Wey) to help you and that hurts us. So now we need another DE. Hopefully I can bring in a couple more players through my invites. I encourage others to do so as well.

Regulus Black is ready to do some damage in his debut for Berzerk today.

How do you "watch" the game? Yesterday I browsed the box score and would replay interesting plays from that. Is that the way you "watch" the game? And, how do you know your guy is IN on a play? Can you point your mouse onto a player and will it tell you who it is?

To "watch" a game hit the first "Replay" from the Box Score screen, then the "Next Play" button. (Cover the top potion of your screen so you won't know the score/ final before you start.)

The guys on the field are listed on the right side of the replay screen. You can find your guy specifically by hovering your pointer over the players on the replay.

You'll be listed on the right hand side.

When you are in is the biggest pain in the ass about this game, if you are a backup.

I got sick of it and am working up a tool that will list all plays a player is in. You can then click the link to see the play. Its early stages of dev, but I will post a link on the Indy Forum at the GLB Forum, just to see how its going so far.

To be honest we have enough players at the current time.
What we need are better players.
Even L4 players could be 3rd on the depth.
You can look at our team and see if we have a specific need.
Ultimately you should create the player you feel best about.
Keep in mind any player you create you can retire and get back 100% of the cost and 70% of anything you spent boosting.

I didn't realize until today that Berzerk was in an "A" league. Shouldn't our B squad have been a lower league?

What I'd like to see is a bunch of Gurupies who have been lurking but interested in getting in on the fun to create players and sign with Indy. Boost them to level four and we'll trade them to Berzerk for one or two LBs or defensive backfielders like Toral's safety or Goat's "I Hit Hard". The trade would benefit both teams.

Sounds like Berzerk will get demoted for next year, which would place you in a more appropriate division. How bad is the financial situation?

Don't forget that this season was all about creating quality players, not really winning games. I think Berzerk's most urgent need is more Gurupie player owners. Well, and fewer "Seinfeld" references.

I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but I just crunched some numbers in regards to training. You will ALWAYS wind up with better stats if you train on Normal for 2 days instead of one intense and one relaxed day. You'll get the same amount of energy over the 2 days, so...stick with normal.

Zen, we can't collude though. Apparently some people have been doing some underhanded stuff so they are now cracking down on all teams. We haven't done anything wrong, or even considering it, but don't want them to think we are.

I thought Berzerk was in BBB as well.

There are a bunch of lurkers. I have a few guys who I got to make a player then they decided they didn't want to do it afterall. I'd love for them to reconsider and play. They could even retire their guy and start over now that we have a better idea of what to do. Wish I knew about the ideal dice rolls and where to put my points when I started out.

To be honest we have more than enough people who read these boards to easily make two very competitive teams--esp. with all the multiple players some people have.

As I stated to JH we have more than enough L4 players.
The plan now will be to try and trade 2-3 of those players for one player of higher rank.
When our L4 players are up against a L8 player they are going to get crushed.
Now if the game would allow us 22 players on the field at one time the two L4 players could gang tackle the L8 and all would be fine.

As for finances we are in decent shape.
With the help of Ref all the seats are built and we are sold out for the next game.
My concern about finances is not for this year but for next year when we go to sell our tickets.
I was not delusional that we would have a winning season but some wins would be nice to shore up the fan base.

Whats wrong with the Seinfeld references?

In our case there are 3 reasons for increased sales:

#1 As already noted they are drinking more beer to drown their sorrows.

#2 Those who dont drink would rather stand in a concession line than watch the game.

#3 The rumor on the street is that the team is in finacial difficulty and the jerseys are selling as the hottest collectible in town.

I still need to do some research as to what they are doing with $35 foam fingers.....but part of me is afraid to find out.

Despite being manhandled, it was still fun to see the plays unwind. I have a newbie question. They were running it down our throats all game, yet our LB's always seemed to take a few steps back at the snap of the ball before going forward to attack the ball carrier. It seemed as if there would have been more opportunity to stuff them had the LB's filled the holes faster.

I'm not ripping the LB's....there were plenty of blocks my guy didn't get off of....but I'm wondering if the LB aggression (or lack thereof) is just part of the game or whether that is a setting in the defensive game plan.

My energy is 78. What should my training level be? Are there 2 days of training before the next game - i.e. I could do 2 normal days as J points out in #166??

The plan now will be to try and trade 2-3 of those players for one player of higher rank.

Why? This season is lost as Berzerk should not be in an A league. You probably will and should be moved down a league. If you have an entire roster of human players who all get close to 50 snaps a game this year, next year you would absolutely clean house. I thought Berzerk was created to develop players, not to win games. Because developing players is the goal, I think Berzerk has way too many CPU players.

When our L4 players are up against a L8 player they are going to get crushed.

Yeah, I know. So rather than hoping to win two, maybe three more games with a handful of L9's and CPU back ups, you should focus on fielding a team of L4's owned by Gurupies who will build them into studs that will clean up in the B league. Yes, that means losing frequently this year. A solid year in B and you'll be back up to A in year 3.

Ref - Zen, we can't collude though.

A trade that benefits both teams is not collusion. Trading six L4's for two L8 or nines makes sense for both teams and is a very different story than those ham fisted clowns who were exposed in the Western Conference of USA A8.

LB have a Focus Option: Bonus Focus on Run (fooled by Pass [play-action]), Bonus Focus on Pass (fooled by Run [draw plays]), or Balance.

you also have to have depth. if you don't your energy drops to absurd levels. if we didnt have CPU back ups, we'd have guys starting with the energy sapped into the 30s.

we were *trying* to get humans, and that's the point. i have literally spent 4 to 5 hours a DAY trying to sign players, but to no avail, especially as we continue to lose.

developing players was certainly part of our goal. but not at the expense of the team eventually folding.

By going bankrupt.

I have two questions about the ability trees.

1 - I've been told in chat that one ought to more or less ignore the tree until level 8. I assume that this due to the fact that you can get +1 in all tree cats when you custom equip at level 8? Is there any other reason?

2 - Is there a benefit to keeping the number the same across all 5 branches of the tree? Or can't you stack yourself in what are seemingly more important aspects of your particular tree?

186dpr
      ID: 1733917

the reason is that the abilities make you a percentage better. So if you are poor in the first place being 5% better or whatever isnt the biggest change so it is better to get a stat

I dont think there is an incentive to be balanced. However there are rules in filling the trees. You can only have double what you have in the one before it. So to get a stat in the last category you need to go through the first four first

1- My understand of ability trees is they are slight multipliers of your other attributes, and when your other attributes suck they are not as productive multipliers as getting them later when you have levelled. Side question: Can you go past 10 in a certain multiplier?

2- I'm pretty sure you can cater it to one part of your game, but again by my understanding you don't want to load up on any specific branch until your main attributes are solidified.

For the record.

Team Berzerk is NOT going bankrupt.

We made record income today (comparing the 2 Guru teams) on concessions.
Most of our tickets for the season have been sold and the unsold ones are still selling.
We may not be able to get the same lofty prices that Indy is getting on tickets but we are kicking butt on concessions.
We wont know for sure what the affects of a losing season will mean for next year's ticket sales but we are 100% solid this year and worst case for next year we may not be able to buy all the luxury boxes we want to buy.

I am a TE for our team and I wanted to know how playing another positions works:

1.) My understanding is that if I play WR, I am penalized so that my XP won't go as much as if I played the TE spot. Is that correct?
2.) If I play WR is there a certain % of my abilities that would translate over to being in that slot? For example if I had a 30-rating in speed as a TE would I be the equivalent of a 25-rating at WR?

Thanks.

1) No your xp isnt penalized just your abilities will be. XP is only based on the number of plays you play. Stats mean nothing.

2) I don't know what the Out of position penalty is, but I would imagine it is not that big for a TE playing WR. If you had a center playing CB, well then im sure his ratings would hurt alot

Defensive Tackles for the gurupies.

We would like you guys set your play intensity to normal for this game. We need to get your guys energy back up and I think this is the game to do it.

This will not affect your XP gained for the game or the amount of plays you play in. You will just get a 10% boost for the game instead of 20%

Thanks
JT

Re: 185... the "best guess" I've read is that special abilities tend to add about 5% per level. That means once your base skill (say, agility) is up to 20, then the advantage of adding a skill point or an attribute point are about the same. However once you get to level 2 in your special abilities, it costs you 2 more to keep raising them each level... so then you would need 40 in your base attribute. However, some special abilities aren't direct analogues to an attribute... pass block for example probably provides a larger 10% boost to blocking, however ONLY applies in pass blocking situations (a 0% bonus in run blocking situations). And we don't really know the percentages, but this at least gives you a rough guideline or concept of what makes the most sense and cost vs. benefit of Special Abilities.

Re: 188... it's only possible because of custom equipment. 10 is the max you can raise it to (unequipped), however the tree bonus from custom can potentially get you up to 11.

I think we could all play on relaxed this game and still wipe the floor with them, lol. Not suggesting we actually do that, better safe than sorry and all, just saying we need not treat it like having a few players on normal is some HUGE blow to our performance. It's a moderate, and appropriate, adjustment.

"Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving Roman Numeral aside like he don't mean anything. Hey I hear you, it's funny to me too, hey it's strange to me too but we're talking about backups man, we're not even talking about the game, when it actually matters, we're talking about backups ... The best team in the league to date really compares to us pretty well with their starters.

But their depth is the reason they are killing everyone. That's why are entire team is so incredibly important. We need our entire team to make themselves the best they can be. Here is their roster.

Some of you have PMs about your guy. I know Doug is starting to talk to a few guys who need to improve their player if those guys are able.

RE 240: For some reason on punts the Center shows up as being on the other team. Not sure why that happens, and the admins of the game aren't sure what is going on with that. It was a problem last season too.

RE Depth: Right now we are the 2nd deepest team in our Conference. I haven't looked at the Western Conference, but since we don't play them until the Championship who cares about them right now. We will focus on that when we get to that game.
A point was brought up in our post game chat that we had about our depth. We still need backups to be as good as they can possibly be. (Again this is not meant to be a boost or you will lose your playing time speech.) Right now the next 3 games are are favorites. We'll be able to mess around with lineups and rotations. (to some degree, we aren't going to cost ourselves wins doing this.) You may see a huge spike in playing time, or you may see none. We're trying to figure out the complexities of the sim. What I can tell you is this. If you boost it will only help us in the long run. The team will see better and better results the deeper we are. We won the game against Vermont not because we were favored, but because we were deeper. We have the possibility of winning it all this year. We aren't going to win at all costs, but we are going to try our best to keep every player happy while we win.

Another thing: On play intensity: "I have 208 total skill points in my 13 attributes (not counting stamina) right now. Playing on hard is truly a 20% boost to your attributes (wouldn't make sense if that boosted your stamina as well), I'm basically getting the equivalent of 42 skill points." -Doug

What this means is if we can get everyone as many skill points as possible we can play everyone on hard and not have a major drop down in talent. Starters won't have to worry about stamina as much and be able to focus on skills, and backups will get just as much PT as the starters. This only works if we are equal or very close to equal across the boards.

With all that said these last few games were won by our depth. And that's why I am giving a game ball to our unsung heroes, the backups.

We never require anyone on our team to boost. Do we encourage it? Oh yea, but it is the players money that is being spent. Trust me when I say that players will never be forced to boost with the threat of burying them on the bench. Thats just not the way we do business. Now can I guarantee if you don't boost that you will start? Probably not, but that's just the way it is.

I haven't seen an update but I know when the individual position sub % was instituted there was a problem with it. We tried a couple of positions in todays game. We'll hopefully have this figured out by the Roadrunner's game.

I saw the settings before the game and it went down much different than we expected. We wanted to get a big lead and pretty much play all subs in the 4th qtr. We also had it set to slightly more passing but the AI took over and switched it to run plays and kept the starters in. Like Kyle said, we're playing with it. Seems buggy, but we're adjusting.

I was considering making another player... perhaps a speedy WR so we can dump this crappy CPU Bo Paxton. Recieving seems to be our weakpoint so we need active guys there to get better. Should I do this or should I focus my flex points on boosting TE Chris Hero when the opportunity arises?

We signed two new players for last game. They both boosted to lvl 4 and both made an IMMEDIATE impact for us on ST. Derek Boozer is now our other gunner and made a spectacular play getting the PR right after he caught the ball. Niko Belic also forced a fumble we recovered. Both also got into the game as much needed backups.

There may be five more depth positions we could use level 4s for. If some of our other guys could boost or use custom eq, we may not need that many. I looked at evy team last night and there are still a few teams who are pretty dang good that no one seems to be talking about yet. In the end, I hope it is our depth that carries us. We can't afford to get run over when our "backups" are in. I may make another player if need be just to help fill depth.

For the time being we have enough L4 players.
We are tageting signing L5 and L6 players for all positions that we have a CPU at.
We just signed a L6 TE and have offers out to sign 3 more WR.
If you want to spend the money then Bosting your current player would be the best place to spend it.

Team Berzerk will be a CPU free zone as soon as possible.

We finally dumped all of our CPU players yesterday except the lvl 3 backup QB.

I talked to JT about an idea I had and he said that he had actually thought of the same thing...

If our backups are really good, those starters could possibly quit putting so much SPs into Stamina and put them into skills. That way they would have more of an impact when they are in. The backup does the same and we don't lose much.

He has been very patient while we try and work a trade and it isnt fair to him to not allow his player get playing time.
I promised him his release today if we cant get a deal done by the end of trading today.
He got 2 plays today and he has basically said nothing beyond his original request for a trade.

There are some guys unsure about when to boost or get custom eq that want to do it. Some have said they want to wait until we have a tough opponent or even wait until we play Chesapeake to do it. Well the thing is, that we gameplan and depth chart based on what is working. Same goes for what positions we'd accept and our priority. Also, there are a few teams who matchup about equal or a smidge better/worse yet. We saw with VT that one play can win the game even when we were underdogs going in.

JT and I have been chatting about this. We've also identified the six positions we'd accept and that priority based on current makeup. So if you are interested in joining, contact us before you make them. Obviously, some will get more PT than others. For instance, if you make a lvl 4 QB, you may get 2-4 series per game at best. You also won't play on ST to get more plays.

STA 23.8
VIS 14.23 (I am training on vision)

Species, I'd still want to put a point or two into VIS and I'm surprised speed isn't more of a part of a DT. I would think that it would have to be higher too.

OK I just checked:
DT
Major: Strength, Tackling, Agility
Minor: Blocking, Confidence, Vision, Speed, Stamina

So I'd definitely want some points in speed. I konw you are working on run-stuffing, but still makes sense to me.

Ref - for the run-stuffer, doesn't it make more sense that speed is pretty far down there on the totem pole? You can't expect your 300 lb NT to nail a HB on a pitch play.....so you are looking to get them between the tackles, which is where your strength and agility would seem to be most key.

I'm leaning towards 2 in TCK, 1 in AGI, 1 in vision and 1 in STR.

I don't have a DT, but common sense says that agility isn't anything if you can't get there. I just checked our DTs and even our run stuffer has points in speed--even our lvl 5s. Hopefully a DT can pipe up. I am definitely not an expert by any means.

I'm not being argumentative, I'm just new and obviously we are all learning the ins and outs of this game. But given that speed was 7th in the list of attributes above (listed in level of importance), I'm curious as to how others view the need for the attribute for a NT (mainly) and run stuffer.

I'd interpret the agility as a way to shake around blocks/get through blocks/shoot the gap or at most, get down the line a LITTLE. The NT should never be needed to run down a ball carrier from behind.....if they don't get them when they hit the line, he'd better be taking 2 blockers with him so the LB's can get him.

Run Stopping D-lineman
Key Physical Attributes: Strength, Agility, Tackling
Other Important Physical Attributes: Speed, Vision
Special Abilities: Important – Focus on the Run Stopping Tree
Other Advice: It is better to specialize your DT and focus on just one of your ability trees. Also Bort and DD have suggested that Blocking might increase your ability to avoid being blocked.
Example of a Good Build (needsmoretackleand not so many points in Ability Trees)

Yeah, #1 strength because you might blow the blocker backwards and bowl him over and have a cakewalk into the backfield. If that doesn't work and he succeeds in blocking you, #2 is agility because it helps you shed the block. #3 is tackling because of obvious reasons.

Yes, speed and vision are important, but I think pretty clearly behind those top 3. I would keep putting skill points in those top 3 skills along with stamina... then bring up speed and vision slowly by "daily training" back and forth between them.

Also strength helps you tackle power backs. I'm not sure but I think the "tackle" skill determines whether you grab him... but even if you do the might bust out of your grasp if he's powerful enough. Strength helps makes your tackles more "sure" (though not necessarily more "likely"... tackling skill itself and maybe agility are what make them more "likely"... along with various special abilities such as diving tackle, etc.)

...diving tackle just a general example... doesn't apply to DTs specifically... shed block a DT-specific example to boost "likelihood" as it allows you to get unblocked (even if works better against pass blocking, it still helps some on the run).

I'm no expert in the DT field either, but I agree with Doug, put the full points in those top 3 Strength, Agility, Tackling. Then rotate training amongst the others.

You get more points when you train those lower rated attributes than the ones the ones that are already higher. So you get more bang for your buck by just training those and not using those skill points there.

I was informed last night that we traded our Punter for a lower lvl punter and a backup QB. Our new punter immediately boosted up to lvl 9. It hurt our chemistry but it appears to be helpful for both teams.

Yeah, if the game goes as planned the backups should have more time than the starters. I need 300 to lvl and I hope I can get just enough time to hit it.

Sarge, I saw you boosted to 8. As the only SS on the team, that is huge. I sent you a PM so we can get you a new contract. If anyone else boosts, let me know asap as well. Boosting sooner rather than later will help us figure out what is effective and game plan accordingly.

The only thing that scares me a little is that we need points for tiebreak and if you take out the starters, then suddenly we're underdogs, but hopefully we can get a lead and then the backups can extend it. If that's the case, the subs will play the whole 4th qtr (unless there is energy issues). Some of our backups are really good so it shouldn't be an issue.

The team chemisty thing is a really bad idea.
The reason it was implemented was to discourage teams from gutting another team.

The problem is it punishes legitimate teams like team Berzerk who are trying to add players to make the team better.
Each time we improve the team the team takes a hit on the team chemistry.

If you do nothing your team keeps losing and your players get demoralized.
Demoralized player play worse and the team keeps losing.
If you make trades to improve your team gets hit with a chemistry penalty and the improvement you just made gets negated.
I dont understand why you would stack the rules against improving competition.

I'm not sure Team Chemistry is all its cracked up to be.

In my pro league there was a team that was undefeated.... including all of Season 1. They just lost today, 36-35, to a team that's mediocre and has a Total Team Chemistry of 37. This previously undefeated team had a Team Chemistry of 75. And these teams weren't even close to even.

I have to believe Chemistry isn't that big a factor if this is possible.

The Gurupies and the Berzerk traded their Punters. The Berzerk added in their 3rd string QB so the Gurupies would have a human backup QB. The Berzerk was going to cut him if he wasn't traded.

Weykool here, I am the agent for your new punter: Bizzaro Superman who prefers to be known as B.S.

He roided up last night and is ready to go.
He added his own home made custom equipment he calls "Das Boot".
He was extremly nervous about his debut on a new team so I added a couple of drops of sugar water to his injection and told him it was confidence enhancers.
If he starts making comments about how he is the savior of the team or you cant win without him please just ignore him.
I will tell him about the sugar water thing after the game and he should return to normal.

As for the chemistry thing it seems a little bit "bizarre" to me.
All of the other players I represent have told me that kickers and punters are not even real football players and rarely if ever talk to them.
Without looking could any of the players recall the name of the punter traded away?
My guess is very few players will even notice the players were traded.

Whew...ok four more players taken care of today.

Because of the trade and others boosting, we are even better today. We no longer need a backup QB for depth. And a new SS would now not get much PT. If our FB is able to boost soon, then we prob wouldn't need a backup there either.

So if we were to add any level 4s, it would probably be OT, G and possibly a LB for ST. We're not actively recruiting but if someone made a new player and wanted to boost him up and load him up to get him some experience, then we could possibly do that.

I've been doing some advance scouting and it appears that a couple of the "bad" teams are much improved today over where they were even last game.

Yeah I hit lvl 11 today too. Those 9 deflections were super, but can I get one pick?!?!?! ;)

Our offense was spread out pretty good. Everyone got lots of plays. Our defense wasn't as good as their offense just couldn't stay on the field long enough.

This was a better team than last game. We shared the load better (settings were working) and we won 41-0. I'm a lot happier!!! Hope everyone got more xps. A little bummed about the backup D players...

We are still #5 in the power rankings. We beat #2 and lost to #10 in the same rankings.

A funny note about the power rankings. After we beat Destin, they were ranked last. After we beat Detroit, they moved to last. I guess we have the ability to make a team drop to the bottom of the rankings. :)

Again, our two new players, Belic and D. Boozer were very good on ST. Belic led everyone in tackles with 7. Boozer with a FF. That's how important depth is. Great job guys!

Btw, JT sent me a note saying that Bort changed the standings today. It is now H2H for tiebreakers first. That is huge for us considering we bet Atl and VT already. I don't think Reamstown is that good tbh. They got us opening day though.

Great job with spreading the wealth amongst the offense. I'm glad this group figured out quickly that depth is so important. It keeps everyone involved, starters, special teamers, bench.

Haya Griva only got in 18 plays, but finally made a non-special teams tackle. It's not that he has played poorly, I've watched him get double and even triple teamed with regularity. Bottom line, this defense has given up one touchdown! He was drained from the last two games, so he will be back to 100 ERG for the first time in a while.

We only have three more games against teams with winning records. I like our chances of hosting at least a first round playoff game.

So that's why we've been working really hard to get the best players or improve the ones we have. We really need to see what we have and play with settings before that game.

Does the divisions stay intact next season or all teams reassigned.

That's a good question. I believe the top four squads move up and the bottom four move down, so it wouldn't be completely intact.

Ref, your jersey looks like a soccer jersey. We really don't need any fútball players on our squad, so let's move him to the bench. We'll call on you when we need a corner kick ;)

Actually I believe it's 2 up and 4 down from each league. (There's two A leagues that feed into the same AA league, so you can only have two from each A league fill the four slots that are vacated in the AA league... and so on for all other levels).

I'm not sure how the two are decided but my guess is that it's either the best regular season of each conference or else the playoff champion of each conference. So ultimately I think only one team from our conference gets promoted (and two demoted). It's also possible that it's actually 2 up and 4 down for each conference instead of each league (making it 4 up and 8 down per 32-team league).

Yeah, the D was huge today! Not sure why the offense sputtered so much. They did get some underneath passes on O but that's it. Too close for comfort but we owned teh 4th Qtr.

Reamstown is not THAT good...but I just looked and must have boosted like crazy as tehy are much ebtter today than yesterday. I wanted them to lose because with H2H, we're still in 2nd. BUt it's all good. I like Atl and VT too and they could easily knock them off. I am going to watch their game and see how Reamstown did it.

Btw, the link the pbp for all games is located on our glb forum.

it's kick ass that we're riding a strong winning streak, but on a personal level for my player, i'm trying to figure out the dynamics for the game.

our QB has thrown for more yards than any other QB in the league. but Jimmy Briscoe - despite being LVL 10 and the WR2 for the team, has 15 catches for 121 yards and no TDs.

any idea why this is happening?

Tree,

QB's can set primary and secondary receivers. I don't know who these are on the Indy team. The answer should probably not be posted on this thread.

Also, I believe the coaches can set the percentage of short, medium and long passes. If Briscoe is a deep threat and the coaches have the setting for short passes, there will be more passes to the TE, RB, etc and less to the outside WR.

Tree,

Doug and I were discussing that same thing. Not sure why. Maybe Little M is onto something. I know we started passing more medium after Tree and Doug started talking about the benefits to that but not a lot has changed. JTB is so damn good as our 3rd WR. Maybe the slot is the best spot (3rd WR) as he has worst cover guys? I duno. That's something for JT to look at I suppose.

Thanks JH, glad I got I finally got an INT, I can keep concentrating on my shutdown coverage. If they want to throw at me with my coverage then they better be prepared to get it knocked down or picked!!! If the other corners weren't so damn good they would have other choices--but they don't. Also we play some 4 CB sets and Sherby is doing well too. Our D is getting better and better.

Really happy to get an INT there as we were struggling and with that return, we were able to get a quick TD and get some daylight. Then others chimed in. I think we got 4 INTs on the day and some nice dives on loose balls. Quick had a nice 33 yd. scamper around the left side for a TD with some nice blocking by TD and Jaxx.

Tree, I definitely think that at least part of it is that the #3 WR gets the better matchups against "non-starting" CBs. Also, there's not a ton of variety in the play calls yet in this game it seems like. Finally, I've noticed on D that some games as the CB I get thrown at a lot, some games I hardly get thrown at barely at all. That could be related to the primary/secondary settings of opponents. I believe that if we don't force the primary/secondary, however, that the QB has a higher completion percentage (since he's just looking for the open man rather than forcing it to a certain guy).

In the end, think of it this way... you're still getting your reps, and developing your player... and you "stealthily" aren't showing up on the stats sheet. Big game comes against Chesapeake and they try and double-team our other guys, well, then it becomes time for the Briscoe Show. :)

re 367

I have been going through the play-by-plays alot more and I agree. The simulator they have is good, but still leaves a lot to be desired. The play calls seem to be pretty redundant and I reckon that is something stands out even more due to our depth (i.e. backups aren't getting stats)

...the nature of the beast is that we should be focused on plays and I think our coaches are doing a great job adjusting factors on a weekly basis to maximize our XP.

I've seen a 120-0 type score. It was in one of the threads about cheaters, showed how a team started 0-2, then traded people from 3 teams to them and cash and all the sudden they were blowing out the next 6 teams by 60+.

6+ mil is not all that much for a 2nd year team.
You can only borrow 1.5 mil.
I doubt they would have a loan if they had the funds to pay it off.
Typically a team will use all available cash to buy new construction during the off season and then have tons of cash from ticket sales the first day.
Team Berzerk had 2.0 million in ticket revenue the first day.
I anticipate that amount to be 4-5 million the first day of season 2.

We signed a TE that is the same level but built more for the passing game that we want to run.
To be honest I can tell who is who with out a scorecard.
The team you were traded to will give you more playing time as you will be easily the #2 instead of maybe sharing time at the #2 with team Berzerk.

If it is any consolation it was a straight cash deal and you are worth 75K.

83-0, 90-0, 96-0, 106-3

check out the stats for that teams HB. keeping in mind those are numbers through half a season, not a full season.

from what i understand, that team is built on speed. from what i've been told, ALL of his players on Offense have at least 60 speed, excluding the line.

His Defensive players also have 60 speed, with the exception of the DT's.

As I was trying to post in 381 I dont always know who is and isnt a Guru member.

Many times the GLB name does not match any of the names I am familiar with.

RGB Berzerk is not a "Guru" team.
The Guru team is Indy Gurupies.
We have Guru members on Berzerk and there is an affiliation with Guru.
However, to compete we needed to bring in outside players who are not Guru members.
It isnt that Berzerk needs Guru members to make more players for the team it is that the team needs better players.

I agree with you that if we need to deal a Guru member that they should be informed beforehand.
But as I said in this case I didnt know it was a Guru member.

Punk:

We have to win games in order to sell tickets.
Also It has to be a stand alone team and not a farm team otherwise both teams could be seized by the league for colluding/gutting to make one team better at the expense of the other.
Obviously it will be difficult for Berzerk to be a playoff contender due to the fact that we dont ask players to boost.
However, we cant be viable as a team if we go 1-15 every season.
We have already lost all our High and Med fan support and the low income fan suppoert is down to 25.
We have offered Guru players more playing time than they would have recieved if they had placed their team on a random team somewhere.

Punk:

When we started Berzerk there were rules we were not aware of.
We cannot be a "farm/feeder team" to the Guru team or we run the risk of having both teams seized or penalized.
We will remain a "friendly trading partner" with Indy but we have to remain within the rules set out by GLB.
Also we need to have something to offer Indy if we are to ever help them.
This more than likely means we wont be able to help in the short term but possibly in future seasons.
We wont be around in future seasons if we dont make an effort to improve the team and wins some games.

<--genuinely confused about the actual impact of a value within a statistic category. I have a Lvl 8 CB on another squad....2nd on the team in tackles with 37. Leads in INTs with 3, leads in Passes Defended with 20. Yet his TACKLING, is a meager 14.81. How does such a LOW skill value, turn in such performances, week after week after week? 3 tackles this past week on running plays, for 2 yds or less and one was for a loss.

Further, it seems as though a value in CARRY does not equate in skill to that same value in CATCHING. IOW, an RB with a CARRY of XX will probably be better at running the ball and holding onto it, than a WR with that same value in CATCHING, would be AT catching the ball. At least, thats my perception from a quick glance at dropped passes with CATCH of XX compared to production by an RB with that same approx CARRY value.

The Indianapolis Gurupies is the "gurupie" team.

Wey is also a gurupie and has his own team. Some gurupies play on his team.

Even though some agents have players on both teams, we are in no way affiliated with each other. The only reason there would be a trade was because we talk to each other enough that we might identify needs that would help both teams.

Sarge, it doesn't take a lot to tackle low level players. As players level or get stronger or are able to bust tackles, then you will need to improve your CB's tackling and strength as I understand things.

We have a couple non gurupies interested in joining our team. They are key positions so we are thinking about it, but we really want to keep our team all gurupies if we can. We got a backup QB non-gurupie as a throw in but he will rarely play and will likely not be re-signed after the season. As most know, we are trying to represent this site and make us a winning team. We are tied for first now and still trying to improve. There are guys who are putting a lot of hours into this to try to help accomplish those goals.

re 395

I had a game awhile back where I ended up with no stats at all. But I watched the game and my guy had the WR blanketed the entire game. Speedy does that a lot too--as does Shutdown. Just because you have lower stats doesn't mean you aren't helping the team. Our first game Shutdown had big stats but that was because he was playing back and they threw underneath him all game. While he had nice stats, it wasn't helping the team as much.

It would really help if they had a help or rules page as their FAQ is inadequate. Finding info buried in hundred of threads and posts is pretty difficult but I have learned a lot in going through them.

Yes the players will be gone after that date passes without extending. This was starting to come into affect with trades now that we're pushing into the middle of the 2nd season. Some owners are trading a guy who's up tomorrow right now so they get the players for them and then the one they are sending is a FA by the time the trade is made.

Re: 395... I honestly wouldn't use stats as that much of a gauge of your player's performance. Or at least I'd look at them selectively. For a CB high tackles could be good (you're getting in on running plays to the outside, etc.) or bad (you're giving up a lot of completions and THEN making the tackle). Even PD isn't that great of a stat, because you can get a PD and still allow a completion. And the real question is your PD-to-completion-allowed ratio, doesn't matter if you get 10 PDs in a game but give up 10 completions, etc. And good coverage can also just force incompletes because the QB has nowhere to go... that's another one that doesn't show up in the stats. It's kinda the same thing between real-life and fantasy football... the best CBs are worthless in fantasy. Now, if you're looking for tackles from a linebacker, that might be a bit of a better/more accurate measure... as well as the tackle-to-missed-tackle ratio, etc.
