Because 400 posts is a little too much to scroll through.
There's a lot of interesting facts about the number 3. And since it's late/early in the morning I thought I'd give you some of them.
The Number 3 in the world Three basic geological planes: Above- Surfaced- Beneath
Historical Empires: 3rd Reich of Germany: Adolf Hitler's Empire 3rd Rome: Old name for Russia 3rd Estate: French Revolution 3rd Way: Mussolini's social movement
Chemistry: Three is the atomic number of lithium
The greatest video game ever (Legend of Zelda): The Triforce was fashioned by a trio of goddesses who represented power, wisdom, and courage
Astronomy: There are three types of galaxies
In Computer Science: Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics which state: 1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. (Tell that to Will Smith in I-Robot) 2. A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. (See comment about rule 1) 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. (Good to know robots have to look out for themselves, I'll stop looking out for them. Also where's the part about them stealing old people's medication for fuel? That's why I have Old Glory's robot insurance)
Religion: If you are religious then the number 3 will hold some important meaning to you. I can guarantee that. But let's leave religion out of this.
Sports: The greatest football team ever (the Indianapolis Colts) won 3 NFL Championships and will have 3 Super Bowl rings at the end of this year. Since Peyton Manning was drafted they have had 3 sets of "Triplets" on the team (Manning, Faulk, Harrison; Manning, Edge, Harrison; Manning, Addai, Wayne). They are also 3 times better than your team ;)
The greatest baseball team ever (the Chicago White Sox) have won 3 World Series. They also currently have 3 amazing broadcasters (Hawk Harrelson, Ed Farmer, and Steve Stone; the latter 2 are quite possibly the smartest baseball duo ever.)
There are 3 facts about this post: 1. Wikipedia should be sited for almost all of these facts 2. It's incredibly useless but interesting. 3. It turned into a homer post about my teams very quickly.

New idea for game graphics
This guy is suggesting that GLB create a patch that we would have the option to DL. Then we could DL each game and view it with the patch Madden style. You could follow your player or take the POV of the player trying to tackle you. You could change camera angle or de reverse slow motion. The possibilites would be endless. Instead of reading about your guy getting a pancake you could watch it as it happens.

J just posted this, and he'll be deleting what he posted soon so here's what he said:
I noticed a lot of people put equipment on skills that have pretty low ratings. Maybe I'm missing something, but, wouldn't it make more sense to sell that equipment and rebuy it for a highly rated skill. Then work on getting the other skill up via training???
I'm not trying to call anyone out, but, Ref seems like you've spent a lot of time learning, maybe you can enlighten us. You've got equipment on Strength (13.50), Confidence (13.50), Tackling (14.99).
From the team: If you choose to sell back an item to improve a key attribute and you are in desperate need of cash we can get you some.

From what I have read J is right. You get better use of your training if you use it on attributes that have a lower number. If you have the cash to keep your equipment and buy the new equipment you can always put that equipment on later when you want to boost that particular skill.
This is the chart that was posted about skills:
Skill Points: Intense | Normal | Relaxed
7: 0.65 | 0.59 | 0.50 8: 0.62 | 0.57 | 0.48 9: 0.60 | 0.54 | 0.46 10: 0.58 | 0.52 | 0.44 11: 0.55 | 0.50 | 0.43 12: 0.53 | 0.48 | 0.41 13: 0.51 | 0.46 | 0.39 14: 0.49 | 0.45 | 0.38 15: 0.47 | 0.43 | 0.36 16: 0.45 | 0.41 | 0.35 17: 0.44 | 0.40 | 0.34 18: 0.42 | 0.38 | 0.32 19: 0.40 | 0.37 | 0.31 20: 0.39 | 0.35 | 0.30 21: 0.37 | 0.34 | 0.29 22: 0.36 | 0.32 | 0.28 23: 0.34 | 0.31 | 0.26 24: 0.33 | 0.30 | 0.25 25: 0.32 | 0.29 | 0.25 26: 0.30 | 0.28 | 0.23 27: 0.29 | 0.27 | 0.23 28: 0.27 | 0.25 | 0.21 29: 0.27 | 0.24 | 0.21 30: 0.26 | 0.24 | 0.20 31: 0.25 | 0.23 | 0.19 32: 0.23 | 0.21 | 0.18 33: 0.23 | 0.21 | 0.18 34: 35: 36: 37: 0.20 | 0.18 | 0.15 38: 39: 40: 41: 0.17 | 0.15 | 0.13 42: 0.16 | 0.14 | 0.12 43: 44: 0.15 | 0.13 | 0.11 45: 46: 0.14 | 0.12 | 0.11 47: 48: 49: 50: 51: 0.11 | 0.10 | 0.09

those number dont take equipment into effect tho. FOr example say you need your strength to be 20 you can put +5 on it from equipment to get you there and then train it like it is 15. There are bonus' to having it on the low pieces and the high pieces

I posted an equipment observation on our team GLB forum, but I'll re-state it here.
It appears as though you can buy extra equipment that boosts different attributes. For example: I can buy Speed shoes and I can buy Agility shoes; I just can't wear both pair of shoes at the same time.
If someone has the cash, should they buy a locker full of "regular" equipment with a variety of attribute boosts that can be swapped in and out based on the opponent/game plan? Example: One game our WR may wear their Catching gloves, then the next game their Blocking gloves based on the game plan.

C1, while that's a decent idea, 1 or 2 points won't make a huge difference there. That's just my opinion though.
Remember, level 16 equipment costs $50k to upgrade. There are some players on the team who will be able to reach that come playoff time. It will be crucial to a playoff run that we buy that and use it wisely. So save your money for a rainy day!

J, equipment has no effect on training or any ratings. As you see when you are adding Skill points, they go down to the baseline effects. As for my eq, I am not training confidence, strength or tacking anyhow. I just stuck a point on each to see what it would do. I'll need str later--same for tackling. Def. wasn't going to put a SP in those slots. So it was either eq, or train it some or nothing. The confidence is the only point I kind of regret.

dpr, you are correct about it not having an affect on the training level. For that reason it is better to put the equipment on higher skills and train on the lower skills.
Example: You have 30 strength and 15 agility. When you buy your level 8 equipment you get to add 2 points to a skill and you want to increase strength and agility. If you equip for agility you would be 17 and it would take 8 days of strength training to get your strenth up to 32. If you equip strength and and train agility your strength would be 32 from the equipment but it would only take 4 days of agility traing to get it to 17. You could then use 4 days to train strength and you would gain 1 point over equiping for agility.

I see your point, but 4 pieces of single-attribute equipment is better than 2 Speed, 1 Stamina, and 1 Agility.
I guess I'm saying have 4 pieces of your High Priority attribute equipment (Speed, Catching, Blocking, what have you) and wear all 4 of the same thing at the same time depending on the game plan.
I'm not headed to Dick's to buy a bunch of new stuff. I think it's a little late for us to pursue this route but we'll all retire and start over someday. Which begs the question- the agent gets back 70% of their invested FP, what about any money in the player's bank?

I think you get back 100% of the initial player cost (the one you uesed to make L1) and 70% of all boosts and custome EQ. Any GLB dollars you have are lost.

One thing to take into consideration is that after 50 base SP's in any category it costs 2 SP's to upgrade. I know most positions are probably a season away from reaching that but that is the very reason that I put all my equipment into kicking as thats the skill I will always have the most points in. Being a kicker I have to train very few categories so I am more streamlined, but I know a few of you are getting closer to 50 SP's in one category.
For example my kicker is base 51 in kicking but has 14 points of equipment in that category, essentially saving me 14 SP's that it would cost to normally upgrade. It also means it's more efficient (in future seasons) to be training a category that has reached 50 base skill points than it would be to train one that say has 40 skill points, hope that makes sense.

RE: 18 That's why the custom eq add on at lvl 8 is importnat for the ability tree because after 2, those points cost two SPs each (the last ability in the tree always costs double too), so by using that you get the benefits and save a whole SP for each ability. Plus you gain a point there now. I've been looking at our team and almost all players at lvl 8 have all custom eq and ability tree. Makes a huge difference.
I am not sure if anyone has looked at the matchups lately, but many teams we are about to face are suddenly they are good. GB is 0-8 and suddenly boom. Ches is ahead of us again and teh Nashville teams look pretty good. People are boosting and customizing obviously. Home playoff game is huge. I think we can do it.

Can someone give me a rough outline of what a top TE's stats are like? For example, in Madden football a 97 speed rating is Deion Sanders etal. So I know if I am only an 81 I need to focus on my speed.
But I don't have a feel for what a top TE's speed, catch, stamina etc should be. Thanks - GO

I am a Level 7 now, about to be 8. Although I appear to be a backup on my new team so playing time is lacking. I do see right off the bat that stamina isn't as important for TE as much as a RB or WR which I hadn't thought of. I am probably gonna switch to "Hard" playing intensity so my fewer plays make a greater impact.
I'll read that tonight, thanks.

JTSerb & guys
I was checking out our DT's and realized that Haya Griva has a a 2 for "D-Line general" while Joe McSack has a 0. "D-Line General" improves the entire defensive line only if he is playing NT. I don't know what the difference between playing at DT & NT. If there is none, maybe it makes a tiny difference to have Griva at NT to gain that tiny bit of "improvement".

The Thread on the GLB forum can help answer your questions for all positions.
the newbie section on the board - especially the pinned stuff - is pretty informative.
Here's a TE they say is pretty solidly built, although he does have too many points in his special abilities for his level...
i have a FB i really like on another team, and i modeled him after the one in the thread i linked you to, and he is doing a pretty damned good job.

Btw, if there are people thinking of playing this game in a couple weeks or so for when next season starts, I'd highly recommend for you to create your player now and start training. Then boost your 3 levels before the end of the season and then boost at the start of next season so you can hit level 8. That type of player could play a big role. A level 4 next season though would be much more difficult to have an immediate impact.

One of those tds was crap. I don't know why they had me line up two yards from the tight end on the other side of the field with the ss over top of me, only to have me try to run to the other side to play over the top of the corner backs. If the computer lines us up normal, that doesn't go all the way to the house.

Yeah that was an odd play. Then when Shutdown went for the INT and missed, they had smooth sailing as the FS was screwed up in his placement. Those are the kidns of plays that can beat you, but we had this team outclassed.
Don't know what to theink about Green Bay. They are 0-9 now but they have obviously boosted as they now matchup pretty evenly with us. Haven't started investigating their team yet though. That's just what the computer matchup chart says.

I coulda swore they only scored 61. I have filed a protest with the league so we can replay the game.
I think we match up much better with some of the other teams so we might be able to squeak out a win.

The problem is the line isnt as good as the line Quick has in front of him.
One of the biiger problems with this game is the chemistry and Morale.
We add players to better the team and the whole team plays worse because we have somehow upset team chemistry by adding a batter backup DT.
As we lose games the player morale goes dowm because they are losing and everyone plays worse.
Its like being a turd in the big GLB toilet bowl. Each time we go around we are one step closer to being flushed away.
Hopefully Bort and company will be convinced of the stupidity of this feature and eliminate it.
On the bright side we are setting records for concession sales.

i've been saying for awhile, our lines are just being abused. that's killing us.
i also think there was an issue with the game plan this time around. our star HB got exactly 3 carries.
as for losing 71-0, keep in mind this was against the first place team in the league, and one that has won games by 65 or more points three different times.
they also only have two starters below LVL 11, and that's both their guards.
i don't think we're a bad team at all, to be honest. we just got off to a slow start, and we're behind the other teams as a result.

I am leaving later today for a weekend in Chicago, (heading to the Cubs game tomorrow!) so Quick Williams will appear to be inactive. I level up after today's game, so hopefully I am still around to distribute my 5 new points.
Otherwise I am sure I will find a nice internet cafe or have internet at the hotel or something. I hope...

Hey Guys new to this. I created a player yesterday. Cleon Sanders CB from FSU (J probably remembers him). I joined a CPU team, and the 1st game was yesterday. Had a pick and 3 tackles, but he also led the team in recieveing. Will the offensive numbers also help him toward the next level?

I got a sweet roll on a Guard I created today. Tree's outline noted:
Guard: Stats - Strength, Speed, Confidence, Blocking Ideal Range - 63-65 Highest Roll - 65 Notes - Jumping is also variable but I again ignored it like I did my Center. Pretty similar to the Center and I'm assuming the Tackle. Speed never goes above 10 or below 7.
I got a 66: STR 21, SPD 8, CON 19, BLK 18. The confidence is overly high (IMO) so I won't burn skill points there for a while, but I liked the rest. Kinda like what Twarpy said (in Indy Gurupies forum) about long term planning, I just put him in a D-league as I don't plan on boosting him so I'll just play with him for now.

Since they changed the energy settings I have now had 4 straight games where i have failed to reach 50 plays to gain maximum xp.
I realize that by limiting my plays backups are getting to play more but i wonder if we have gone a bit overboard in getting this to happen at least in the case of the WRs. It seems that it is important that the we improve the players that see the most time on the field as much as possible. Since it has now been 4 straight games it seems that this is a settings issue. Also I only lost 16 energy so I dont think it can be attributed to my energy.
It seems the top WR are falling behind and will continue to the other positions if we keep getting fewer snaps. most defense and Oline seem fine getting there 50. i do not expect the 65+ i saw in the early games but would like to see 50 the majority of the games

After being jealous of Niko Belic, my fellow DE backup, wrecking havoc on special teams, Vicious Species with 3 nice tackles on kickoffs. I think his level ups in strength, agility and speed have really helped him bust through the wall on kickoffs. That play in particular was sweet because most of the rest of our bunch was bottled up inside.

Really happy with Stagnoski's play lately. Lots of research is starting to pay off.
Very impressed with the entire team. Play was spread out a lot today. Even guys with little stats did a good job. There are always a few areas where we need to improve and we learn from game to game. 4 sacks is nice! Boozer with two! No upsets in the league so we are still tied for first at 9-1 but 3rd overall with tiebreaks. I think VT ans Ches are the best two teams right now but hopefully we will get back up to their level again soon. I think VT will bat Reamstown so to have the top seed through the playoffs we are going to have to beat Chesapeake. The Smilies are next and they aren't a pushover by any means with their huge improvement lately.

Hey Ref: We have a 30 overall. Ches has a 27. :) Let's keep up the work fellows.
DPR: I understand that you want to max out your performance, but the thing is there is a diminishing effect for each play you play. The difference between 45 plays and 50 plays isn't that big. When we get to the big time games that's when you'll see the big time stats. Right now we are just trying to get as many plays for everyone as we can.

116- thats fine. i was more trying to alert that WR were seeing different effects of playing time then the other positions. YEa the loss does seem to be rather small. like 15 per game. not sure wat is gained by getting 35 instead of 30 or watever. However today I just missed being 12 before the game so it was the difference. wasnt a big game so wasnt an issue but could be in the future

I did some fun rankings. I took the Formula (Wins +(Points Scored/2)+(SoS/4))-(Losses+(Points Allowed/2)) and ranked the teams in the East. It basically tells you who should win on paper. If you see anyway I could improve on this let me know.Oh and for PS, PA, and SoS I took the highest value and rated that 16 and the lowest value was worth 1. So if you allowed the least amount of points you get 16. If you had the hardest schedule you get a 16. Granted these values are worth less than your wins.

Ronnie Boozer really had no idea how much 1200lbs worth of starting defensive Lineman could drink. The Dirty Sanchez stayed open extra late and his Bar Bill was thirty seven hundred dollars.
He didn't give a sht because it was a Big Day for the D, Sacks, interceptions, 18 pass deflections. Their QB will see Pendergast in his sleep for the next few nights. Another Big ShutDown for the D. They conjured up the Sacks this morning on the boards, Ronnie got 2 because the D-Line was hammering the O-Line. Pendergast got his amidst his monster game, and nobody could have been happier than when we watched Ferl the Pearl's Toohless smile as he climbed off a motionless QB.
Everybody came along on LB night out tonight, the whole Defense. D-Coordinator too. Concho and Punk left with Babes. Smash and Ronnie didn't pound anybody. There were some troublemakers around but the Defensive Line Boyz snarled at em a little and they scurried off. Captain Wiggins wouldn't even get on stage tonight, he sat and drank with his boys, very proud he was, cracked a smile somebody said. He told them they were ready, ready for the home stretch. And they are.
Stagnoski went home early to study film...

Click the "upgrade equipment" option. Assuming you already have the $500 variety, it will now cost $2500 to "upgrade" and add an additional +1 to a stat category.

Boosting Lamouse will be absolutely HUGE for us. I see one team has a lvl 11 HB and lvl 11 FB and they are rated higher than us and we have an extra RB who is damn good. Also it should help you show JT that he needs to get you more plays when you show him what you can do!!!

Haya Griva will level up after today's game. I am thinking of putting three of his XP's into "D'Line General", giving him a 3 for that Special Ability, and the other two into Strength. "D'Line General" makes the whole line better. Griva is at 41.65 strength. Whatchathink?

Zen, I think that costs 2 SPs per point...
We have added two SSs today. The level 9 isn't very good at all. It was a mistake. The level 10--will be 11 aft today's game is built very well. If he will buy FPs, he has one boost and custom eq thta would be huge for us there.
Moose's 2nd boost put us up o 27 in Rushing. I figured it would as our opponents today have a lvl 11 FB and HB and were at 27.
Quick only has 91 energy going into today's game. Perhaps Roman might be seeing a lot of action today. It should be a defensive struggle based on what we've studied.

I saw this coming too.
what happened at the end of the first half? we got robbed of at least a FG. Quick was not his usual self. our whole running game was shut down today. Dawson with another long TD. too bad we did not get back the ball late in the 4th quarter. could have been a nice comeback.
I hope we can learn a lot out of this game for the rest of the season.

Well quick only had 91 energy coming into the game. Also it didn't out out our 4 WR sets so our 4th and 5th WR almost neer got any plays today. But they limited us on D. We are not as good as some people think we are. And the chemistry hits of having to move players certainly didn't help.
All we can do is study the game and see what we can do better and see if any of our players have room to improve via better SP usage, boosting or custom eq additions. We really cna't change our team anymore. This chemsitry thing takes it's toll.

Guide to Points Automatically Assigned When Leveling Up by Painmaker
Every time your player gets 1000 XP, he levels. In addition to providing 5 skill points for you to distribute as you see fit, your player also improves skills important to his position. 2 points are divided amongst the "major" skills for the position while 1 point is spread over the "minor" skills for the position.
In addition to helping plan how you want to train, this may inform how to "build" effective players at each position.
Offense:
QB Major: Strength, Throwing, Vision, Confidence, Stamina Minor: Agility, Jumping, Carrying, Speed, Catching
HB Major: Agility, Speed, Strength, Vision, Confidence, Carrying Minor: Catching, Blocking, Jumping, Throwing, Stamina
FB Major: Strength, Blocking, Agility, Carrying Minor: Confidence, Vision, Catching, Tackling, Stamina
C Major: Strength, Blocking Minor: Confidence, Agility, Vision, Tackling, Stamina
G Major: Strength, Blocking, Confidence Minor: Agility, Vision, Tackling, Stamina
OT (*oddly, minor OT skills improve by 0.5 but majors only improve by 0.4 due to how many there are of each) Major: Strength, Blocking, Confidence, Agility, Vision Minor: Tackling, Stamina
TE Major: Strength, Blocking, Catching, Vision Minor: Agility, Speed, Confidence, Carrying, Stamina, Tackling
WR (*oddly, minor WR skills improve by 0.5 but majors only improve by 0.33 due to how many there are of each) Major: Speed, Agility, Catching, Jumping, Vision, Stamina Minor: Confidence, Carrying
Defense:
DT Major: Strength, Tackling, Agility Minor: Blocking, Confidence, Vision, Speed, Stamina
DE Major: Strength, Tackling, Agility, Speed Minor: Blocking, Confidence, Vision, Jumping, Stamina
LB Major: Strength, Vision, Tackling, Agility, Confidence, Stamina Minor: Speed, Jumping, Blocking, Catching
CB Major: Speed, Agility, Jumping, Vision, Catching, Stamina Minor: Strength, Tackling, Confidence, Carrying
SS Major: Strength, Speed, Vision, Tackling, Stamina Minor: Agility, Jumping, Confidence, Blocking, Catching, Carrying
FS Major: Speed, Vision, Tackling, Catching, Stamina Minor: Agility, Jumping, Strength, Confidence, Blocking, Carrying
Specialists:
K Major: Kicking, Confidence Minor: Strength, Vision, Agility, Speed, Jumping, Throwing
P Major: Punting, Confidence Minor: Strength, Vision, Agility, Speed, Jumping, Throwing

Oh well, we can't win them all fellas, we take this lump and move on! It was a close game, and we had terrible clock management to end the second quarter, so there are positives to take from the game.

B6, Quick was at 91 before the game according to the energy bars on the GM's roster page.
There were things going on in the game that were so unusual. I have to balme Chemistry. I am going to blame that a lot from now on. Just makes no sense. Twarpy missing FGs and xps this season when his guy is built so studly. Some of our great starters looked lost. Our O sputtered until the 4th--then our D couldn't stop them on 3rd and 2 to get the ball back again. Our great RBs didn't look good at all. I've been reading so much about chemsitry on the glb forum and it is lethal. It needs to be toned down. If not, once it is reset next year, we're pretty much not making any moves. Everyone will be re-signed to a year contract so they don't expire and no one is coming or leaving. I feel like we just blew up our chances to win this year. Oh well.
Unless something drastic happens, we will limp into the playoffs and be a one and done. ALl teh revnue is gone and we will be back in A league next year. I'm not being a pessimist--just a realist. We need to get better quickly w/o making moves and that's going to take everyone to boost and customize who hasn't.

Wow, Ref. I hope you keep away from bridges for a few days. Before, this game, we were unbeatable and going to win the division and now the season is over and we are done. Both of these thoughts were extreme. We were not as good as we thought we were when we were beating some of the weaker teams, but we are not done yet either.Defense has 5 guys at level 7. When they level up, that will give us a lot more depth.
Looking at the schedule, I think we have a good chance to win at least 4 of the last 5 games. That would give us home field in the first round.

Well we lost to a below .500 team. There are some other decent opponents left. All we can do is try to game plan the ebst we can. The rest is up to the individual players to be their best. I don't have an issue with losing to a better team. But losing wen we are not the best we can be and taking that kind of hit in chemistry leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

To address our loss last week: I'll take full responsibility for the loss. I didn't realize that chemistry weighed that heavy on a team in this game. I thought improving our WR core and making Sarge happy with his SS was a priority and I thought that the drop wouldn't have made our decent team look like a JV squad. I now know better. If I could go back I would not have done the trade, obviously, but I think in the long run it helps us since we now have 3 level 11+ WRs and 2 Level 10's. We also signed the new SS. Hopefully he can be a stop gap until Punk's SS comes over on day one of season 3.

Actually Weykool, according to this post
For every player that you drop or trade away, you lose 3 chemistry from the appropriate bars
A player leaving due to an expiring contract affects chemistry by -1
So if that team is smart they will let Punk play out his contract if he doesn't resign. Since he's told me he's interested in coming to Indy, I have to assume he won't resign and he'll be a FA on Season 3, Day 1.

I didn't see that blowout coming, especially against a team that is over .500 and almost a certainty of making the playoffs. Like Little M. said, if we could of converted just a couple of our 7 FG attempts into TD's, we could of been over 60 points.
Over 500 yards on offense and only a FG let up on defense. Good work all.

I just found a flaw in the game.
Fumble!
It was a run, fumble, re-fumble, recovery. The next play they are 2nd down and 9. After any loss of possession, it should be 1st and 10.
As for the game, I can't figure out for the life of me why Loverture is not getting more pancakes. Maybe if we called them crepes he'd be more interested.

SZ - They never lost possession for it to revert back to 1st and 10. If they fumbled, we recovered, we fumbled, then they recovered, it would be 1st and 10, but since they kept fumbling and recovering, there wouldn't be a change in possession. 2nd and 9 is the right call.
BTW, that hit by Kyle Nelson was monstrous.

Congratulations to Quick Williams for a 1000 yard season! Roman still has a chance to get there too. here is his play of the game

SZ: DTs are hard to pancake, and you are going against the DT alone. The 2 leading pancakers are the Center and RG. They get to double team the NT most of the time, so one will flip the pancake while the other takes it off the griddle. You, me and Gavin are doing the work solo, with the occasional help of Lemoose, Quick, or Roman. Maybe you can convince Joe to come over and help out Tussy.
YR: Yep, let's hope of of the 2nd tier teams can knock them off!
Wiggs, I'll take a look and send a PM.

Well twarpy and I were both sick to our stomachs watching the game. I mean we were watching the same as last week's game. We were just horrible. Then we both realized IT WAS LAST WEEK'S GAME!!! No wonder it looked so familliar.
Well JT and I had talked about changing some things up. We saw that this team's starters looked good but their backups weak. His game plan looked to take advantage of that and it looks to ahve suceeded. They held us to FGs early, but again their starters are really good. That's why depth and backups are so good. They make the team.
It is really important to finish 1st or 2nd as the top 6 are so good, but the Smilies, who beat us last game, will prob finish at 7 or 8. New Orleans upset a team today and Chesapeake beat Vermont 6-3. I sitll think VT is the best team in the elague but Ches is deeper. If we can figure out somehow to beat Ches and win out then we're sitting pretty again. I figure we will lose, but hoping we can stillg et everyoen to boost and eq--or at least a few key players. I have another wrinkle that I am going to give JT today which I think will help us some more in the game plan. If any of you can send a short PM to the new lvl 11 SS and jsut say welcome to the team, if there is anyway you can dd custom eq and boost that last level it would really help us as we all want you to start--that could only help. He seems perfectly built. Doug and I have written him long PMs. JT has. Kyle just did as well. He is from Manila so it may take awhile for him to read it withthe time diff.
I really want to beat Ches. I'm hoping for a break like we got against VT. Some One had a long TD pass today and is amazingly fast. He could be our secret weopon--being 5th on depth chart. He also looked good on returns--making Shutdown fresher and able to stay in the DB more. Sherby also is getting better and better. Make no mistake, this game will be a war. Just hoping we can overcome chemistry by bettering each player. Many of us have leveled and I see more might before Wed. game. Please make good use of those SPs.
I think what bummed me out most about losing the last game in which we should have won was that we could still lose to Ches and still been no lower than a 3rd seed. Then should win that first game and have a great chance to win the 2nd. But if we can just improve ourselves and overcome the chemistry issue and get some lucky breaks we could be back in it--even if we lose to Ches. Here's hoping to victory...

bh, you have so much blocking stuff going on with your player. Need to add more skills in the passing attribs. You are 1st on the depth chart. It has nothing to do with game plan. If you can get open, you're going to get the ball.

well we had traded players before and been fine and then following a day when we lost decided that it was the recent transactions which did it. Then today we are back performing in line with how we have been all season despite the still low chemistry. While I don't doubt it has an effect the likely reason we lost the game was because the game is a sim and random results play a part

Think as you may DPR. This is a sim and there is randomness to it yes, but the sim doesn't just sim the whole game at once. It sim's PBP. With well over 100 plays in the game I think the randomness is minimized.
Like I said before i believe 100% if no trades were made we win that game. That "penalty" of the chemistry had an effect. While it cannot be seen in numbers, it no doubt had an effect.
I really don't want to harp about it anymore though. It is time to move on. This is the last time I will bring up chemistry.

I was searchng to the importance of chesimstry to a CB when I came acrossed Bort's post.
One trade wouldn't hur tthat much--maybe 5-6 points, but we've had several adds and drops. Anything above leel 5 hurts us. Bort was referring to the chemistry on one trade I think--bue even if it was total, still, 9% per stat per play per player certainly adds up.
I sent Bort a note bu the hasn't responded. I tried selling my eq that contained chemistry. It was successful. But three times I have repurched the eq with different attributes and it never showed up. So I've wasted a bunch of money buying and selling and am still worse off than I was before. It's been a coupel hoursa nd I know Bort is busy, but I need to sell another piece and rebuy and then assign 5 more SPs from my level.

Bort also posted this little gem:
Team chemistry will mean that you have to keep a squad together for a while to keep them competitive. If you bring in too much new blood all at once, you'll hurt your team chemistry and your team will suck.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=72503
I dont know about any of you but "your team will suck" doesnt sound like something too good.
When you start taking hits on "some of your skills" it isnt too long before your L12 player is playing like a L9.

Great rebound for team Indy!
I was thinking about the chemistry...does anyone know if (and by how much) our chemistry went up since the last game?
I wonder if they use the marginal change to see if it affects your player's performance as opposed to using absolute ratings? Perhaps that could explain why we threw up a stinker after our team chemistry went down. To me that seems pretty realistic.

Yes Kyle I am coming over at the end of the season. He hasn't asked me, but the impression I get is that he assumes i'm a lock to stay, even though he brought in another SS that was worse than me and he's been starting. I'm not going to say anything about it though. Just means Stotch will have more Fight for our team next year. :') Here is another of his LONG plays where he has some speed from his last game. Metaphorically Speaking of course
Funnything happened at the Sanchez tonight. The LineBackers went out early. They were on a big roll when the rest of the D got there.
The had met a bunch of girls. Bambi, Tiffany and a girl named "Chemistry". Everybody had been talking about her all week. The coaches even said that we all "needed to get some Chemistry,"
Ronnie Boozer was confused all week. (He's a killer, but he's kinda stupid). But now he knew exactly what the coaches meant.
So they got invited back to Chemistry's house. She lived on "Nashville Longshot" Street. They put a helmet on her and broke the headboard. They didnt let the new star "Inferno" guy in, (The coaches said he would probably "hurt Chemistry") They didn't want that to happen.
Then they left. They had found out alot of other teams have had "Chemistry". They were the original 5 LB's anyway. And now they had gotten some too.
She had been a hot topic and she was tempting all the teams.
and they decided that "Chemistry" really didnt matter any more.

I know I'm not on the gurupie team but I could use some advice....
Our next 3 games are against 3 teams that may give us a beating. The last time we played a top team I had 1 kickoff and no FG or XP attempts. Assuming not much changes am I right in thinking I'm better off upping my strength as opposed to my stamina?
Strength 22.93 (+.34) Stamina 9.29 (+.56 a day)

Farn most of the top kickers builds I've seen and have PM'd the top guys about. believe stamina does little to nothing for a kicker. I had 7 FG attempts, 4 PATs, and 11 Kickoffs this past game, which is by far the busiest I've ever been and I only was drained to 78 energy, which I doubt affected me much and I only have 10 in stamina. I would definitely put the points into strength.
This year I wanted to put points into the major cats of Kicking and Confidence and get them as high as I could without paying 2 SP's (at 50 SPs) which I have achieved. I did a lot of research and PM'ing of top kickers and I am going to dump all future boosts and my next year's boost all into strength next, leaving one cat relatively low (vision) which I can train efficiently.

Ok, that's what I was thinking too. I still have one more boost to use this season that I'll probably use towards strength as well. The only reason I considered another point of stamina is because my 7XPs today and 1FG knocked me down to 80. But considering I won't see a lot of work the next 3 weeks I probably don't need much stamina.
Oh, and do you play on Hard? I changed to Hard about 3 games ago and have missed on XP (my last of 8 today) and made all my FGs, including a few 45yd kicks. Playing on Hard has really made a difference.

As Punks little chart shows it's going to be strength vs. strength. We can move the rock like no other team. They can stop the rock like no other. It's really going to come down to our D (which is outrageously deep) and their O. If we stop them and are able to put up 13 or more then I'd say it's good night Ches, let's go to the Sanchez. I'm going to look a little deeper at the numbers and post in the team forum.

JT we need PTs in a single game record, Franz got 22 last game, Quick obviously leads with 24 in his 4 TD game but that would be a fun interpositional stat to keep.

Yeah Farn I play on hard too, its a fine balance with punters and kickers. I mean at first I thought there was a serious flaw that punters were only kicking 22 yards/game but once one understands that kickers and punters are the only ones that are technically facing the sim directly, it makes a lot more sense. A level 10 CB facing a level 10 WR is technically on the same playing field, where a level 10 K/P is facing what the sim sets as should be standard for that praticular level.
All the top kickers weren't the best early on, but even 75-80% FG, and 90-95% PAT's is pretty good when you consider were technically only about 1/8 of what we will be when we are in our final year.

Huge game today. I am toying with the notion that Chemistry plays even a bigger part of the game immediately after moves than it does long term. I do feel it still plays a part of the game though. Ches has several point on us in chemistry. Our D is especially bad comparitively. We are facing the best secondary in the league. This is a HUGE game. If we can figure out a way to win, we could actually be top seed in the playoffs. A loss would pit us against another very good team right off the bat in the playoffs--maybe even VT--who I still feel is the best team in the league on paper.
Our team is improving as individuals are improving. Knowing what works and doesn't helps us game plan. Everyone involved worked so hard on this game plan and getting everything set up but it's the players who are going to decide it. Here's hoping the wrinkles thrown in for this game work out as planned!!!

Oh well, we got beat by a better team. Knew their secondary was awesoem and passing so much would be problematic. They also were able to compete a lot. Sitll were up until late and even had a final chance. TOs hurt us bad. Did the best we could. 9-7. Could have been worse, but at the end of the day, a loss is a loss.

tough game. both teams were battling for field position all game. all those turnovers killed us.
at least we scored the 1st passing TD against Chesapeake. unless Reamstown loses both games against Atlanta and Vermont our potential playoff opponent is either Atlanta, Vermont or New Orleans. all very tough!

Ughh, 3 INTs and 4 Fumbles aren't normally associated with winning games. That game was within our reach. But on the flip side, most of our drives never crossed mid-field.

Well thier great D caused those INTs and FF. We did the best we could. We worked as hard as ever on this. Hated that one punt they made that went over Shutdown's head and they downed on the 1 yardline. That was a huge field position loss. I just don't know what else we could have done. I do see a few things that the sim did that we had told it not to do, but that is out of our control.

Is there something we are missing or lacking that is causing the turnovers?
The thing that sux about being the punter is when the team does well...you dont and visa-versa.
Does anyone have any information on punters that could stop this kind of punting distribution? 24-24-25-25-25 36-38-38-43-46-48 11 punts and not one of them between 25 and 36. I did a search on training "tying shoelaces" but didnt find anything. Very strange and frustrating.
Unfortunately I will miss leveling before the next game by 46 xp.

Let's shake it off.
One positive I saw- I liked LeMoose on Return Special Teams; I didn't see that one coming.
Then again, neither did these THREE guys
I usually play "Coaches Clicker" on the Special Teams and I've noticed something other teams seem to be doing. I don't want to give it away here, so I'll post it in the ST GLB Forum.

Tough one guys...
I am not really that dissapointed though. Ches is a really good team. I feel if we play them 5 times we will probably lose 5 times.
Our offense was really bad today. The turnovers killed us. 3 INT is just plain bad. I knew they had a tough Pass D, but I thought we could exploit their D with some deep passes.
Unfortunately that did not work.
We fumbled 4 times and while we only lost 1 the other 3 were busted plays. We really needed to play on the top of our game to win and on offense we didn't.
I thought our D played exceptional. While the D didn't force any turnovers they continually had their backs to the wall after numerous 3 and outs by our Offense. They really shut down Ches's offense.
I have a question for our RB. What were your advanced settings for the game? Just wondering what the reason was for some many fumbles. I think it could have been because Ches played all their guys to force the fumble, but I am not sure.

What they need to do is fix the sim so that teams stop trying to score when its a rout.
Set it so that if you are up 50 points your team starts running the ball right up the middle.

I think part of it is that there really isn't that much separation in the leagues at this point. The game was in an A league (same as us). The losing team should be in BBB, the winning team (at a very quick glance) didn't look better than teams in our conference.
link
This team is in the same league and beat the team that won by 112. They don't belong in A (at least compared to most A teams that I have seen)

Frick - i have a player in that league. it's pretty competitive. the top 6 teams are definitely miles above the rest.
we've lost 3 times. to the 3 teams ahead of us in the standings. ugh.
if you look at the top teams in this division, they are a powerful lot. every starter is at level 10 are above, and we've got 5 that are level 14 or higher.

My current team owner just offered me a 3 year extension worth 100k a year (2500 a day). I like the owner and the way he is working on the team and I'm inclined to accept.
Before I accept it can I assume Twarpy is sticking around as the Gurupie kicker? And no I'm not trying to leverage in. He seems to be doing a great job so it would make sense he stays on. Just want to double check before I sign on long term.

Pretty easy game today--as expected. I thought we'd score even more points though. Still found a few things we can tweak that may help some.
Reamstown beat Atl today in a close one. That means if we win out we will finish 3rd and likely play either Atl or NO--both very good teams. That means only one home playoff game. Looks like the only walkover team will be the 8th place team.
Looking at Ga next week, VT beat them 26-3. Ga starters look very good but no depth. They have been publicly trying to add that depth in the forums. They likely won't be a pushover. Nice win!

I watched the game and studied some plays several times.
--It seems that Briscoe is now getting open. Great job adding speed. I kind of laughed at that TD tip, but we'll take it!!! --Some One was wide open for a sure TD once but was thrown elsewhere (still caught) and had to settle for a FG --Dunno why Franz is missing chip shots --Not sure why TD catcher is dropping so many balls all of a sudden --Not sure why Roto has been errant more lately --Our run game destroyed them --Some nice blocking on several plays --Seems like Some One was a block away from some HUGE returns --Was impressed with Inferno. If he had custom eq, he could even be better --Unahppy how after KOs they seem to get the ball around midfield so often. Hopefully that will change this next game. --Defense looked good as well. Esp with them starting so often near midfield. --Overall thought we played well.

looking at the QB build, i feel like his strength is a little low for his level. nothing significant that couldn't be adjusted in the next level up or two, but that plays a role

i am at 728 right now- getting 47 a day for training and about 250 per game right now.
if i figured it out right i will be just short of level 16 for the 2nd playoff game if we make it.

We don't get XP during the playoffs. Two more games to gain XP that isn't through training.

I want to try to get us optimum levels before the playoffs.
Haya Griva is at 480 and is not getting more than 30-32 plays/game. Loverture just leveled up and is at 70. He was placed on Special Teams and got over 60 plays last game. Perhaps we should switch these two on Special Teams. Griva would be a better special teamer anyway.

--It seems that Briscoe is now getting open. Great job adding speed. I kind of laughed at that TD tip, but we'll take it!!! Jimmy Sweet looks like he's enjoying the slot position. He's seem to got the speed for it now, too. I am very happy with our WR core.
--Some One was wide open for a sure TD once but was thrown elsewhere (still caught) and had to settle for a FG I question the play calling on the Goal to Go situation. We don't have a way to set how the sim calls plays.
--Dunno why Franz is missing chip shots Because he's the kicker. We need to blame someone at the end of the season for all of our failures. We'll look over the fact that only 3 of his 9 misses were in losses and that only 1 game was "lost" because of him. (And technically it didn't cause the loss, it would have only tied the game had he made both)
--Not sure why TD catcher is dropping so many balls all of a sudden Little known fact: TD Catcher has the best catching on the team. You wouldn't know this because he has the most drops. Youch! This has to be something weird and unexplained.
--Not sure why Roto has been errant more lately His throwing needs to improve actually. If you look at the prototype in the player builder post in the forum, Roto is a little low based on that guy. That said, Joe Roto is be best pitcher in the East, and it's not even close.
--Our run game destroyed them Thunder and Lightning tend to destroy things. :) Our running game is just devastating. We could really set it to 50-50 running inside out and someone could set it 50-50 defensively, and we'd probably still rush for 150 yards. That's fantastic.
--Some nice blocking on several plays Yah our O-line is pretty impressive. I like that Big Nelly is playing 50 plays on the dot so he's saving room for others to get plays, but I don't like when he gets 50 plays and ends with 86 energy. Oh well. Can't complain about 50 plays.
--Seems like Some One was a block away from some HUGE returns Some one is an amazing returner. He's got great speed and awesome vision. I wouldn't mind him speciallizing and just working on 3 categories (Speed, Vision, Agility) while getting some in catching and carrying every now and then.
--Was impressed with Inferno. If he had custom eq, he could even be better Yep, He's pretty good. In fact (I don't know if JTSerb started him because he's better than me, or if he started him because we know we'd win and he'd give him a start to see how it works) I think he's better than me. I knew this day would happen, and I am very happy being a backup. Hopefully we can find a balance to get me 30 plays or so.
--Unahppy how after KOs they seem to get the ball around midfield so often. Hopefully that will change this next game. JT has changed up the Depth chart, he's put a lot of speed on there so hopefully that will change!
--Defense looked good as well. Esp with them starting so often near midfield. A lot of 3 and outs. The gameplan of limiting their time on the field worked perfectly.
--Overall thought we played well. We played good enough to win, which is all that matters. We had 1 TO, missed a FG. If we had played this way against the top teams in our conference I don't think the result would have been the same. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we had some flaws (offensively) that wouldn't win in the playoffs. I would love to get those drops down.

Been studying things a lot and it looks like Franz needs to increas his Vision as that is what is used for accuracy. A FG could make or break us.
I've posted in our forum on ideal build goals from one of the top teams who posted in one of the forums. Not nec, endorising it, just sharing.
Disappointed we couldn't get more plays on D. I am going to miss leaveling by like 9 XPs before next game but more concerned about some guys who had hardly any plays. JT and I have already discussed how we can max our levels for the playoffs. We are much better than our final reg season opponent. Perhaps their is a way we can get a couple guys some more plays if it means leveling.
I'm still researching dropped balls and inaccurate QB throws. So much info to wade through. Most who didn't just level, will only level one more time before the playoffs so we need to identufy it asap so we can get the SPs to the right places.

again, i would look into strength for our QB. while those player build guides are important in showing you what categories to stress, in the process, they also inadvertently de-emphasize other attributes that are important.

Tree here's what it says about QBs and how to build them: Forum Pocket QB Key Physical Attributes: Throwing, Vision, Strength Other Important Physical Attributes: Confidence, Agility Special Abilitites: Important - Focus on the Pocket Passer abilities Other Advice: Confidence helps a QB recover after throwing INTs and when things are not going so well. It counters many defensive special abilities designed to demorilize the QB. If you set your favorite targets to None, that will improve your completion % by 5-8 points and cause fewer INTs especially at a low level. The only reasons you should set them is:
1.) If you have a big time mismatch you particularly want to exploit 2.) If you want to get the ball to your TE more 3.) If you have a WR who is an excellent rout-runner, but not a lot of speed.
Unless your team passes deep more than 65% of the time, I would turn the Favor Deep Passes option off.
Ideal Backup Position: None Example of a Good Build: "Automatic Otto" Graham
If you compare Joe Roto's stats to Otto Graham you'll see that his strength is relatively even, but more dispropotionate in Passing. I'm not going to post the numbers in here, but I think Roto needs a little more in the passing.
Also just a heads up, that forum posts things about every position and every type you'd want from your position. I've used it for Big Nelly and The Exorcist since day 1 and have started using it for Kyle Nelson. It's a great tool to have and use.

you going to add 6+ points in your next 4 levels to strength?
Graham's throwing is so high because he put EVERY equipment bonus into it.
i'm not saying Joe Roto is a poor build or a bad QB, because he's quite the opposite. but i am offering advice as to where he could start putting more attribute points.

Good discussion guys. I like how we are all concerned to what is best for the team and no one is taking anything personally.
Got a LOT more info about CBs last night too which helped. I also learned that what is important at higher levels isn't as important at lower levels sometimes and vice versa. Just because you see a "good build" doesn't nec. mean it's the "perfect" build. That's one guy's opinion. I know the good build for the CB has a lot of good things, but also has some things contrary from some of the things I've been reading about. For CBs stats aren't indiciative how good you are. That is not nec. the case with QBs, RBs, WRs, LBs, etc. See how well that good build is actually doing.

I just realized tha tif VT beats Reamstown today then there would be a 3-way tie for 2nd place. My understanding is that they'd then go by overall points. We are 24 points behind VT and could finish behind them if we don't score a lot of points the last two games.

Yep, we're 3rd, but reamstown has acquired and boosted and prob the team to beat. If we win the enxt two games, it will be very difficult to beat them. The shutout VT today 15-0. Even got a safety. All we can do is be the best we can be and keep game planning and hope thigns work out. Many of us just leveled so hopefully we use those SPs wisely and it works out.

Just to let everyone know. Since we cannot move down or up next game. We are going to try some extreme things in our game plan this week. I feel this is an excellent week to see how some things work.
I also am going to need everyone to post, send, or email your current expected xp
Just use this formula (Current XP)+(Daily Train XP*4)
I am going to adjust depth chart this week to see if we can get a few more levels. With only 1 game to go this should be easier to gauge than last week.

I made up a pro bowl roster for our eastern confernce last night
Below is my Eastern Conference Pro Bowl Roster. I also have included Offensive and Defensive M.V.P.

I think we will blow out Tulsa--even with our really weird settings we're looking at. Then I think we beat Atlanta. After that, let's cross our fingers. Had a discussion with Inferno today and am still hopeful he can really help us. I looked at some players today and some are really taking heed of our player recomendations and eq fixing. Suddenly our matchup bar is moving again. That makes me think that we can still do something really special in the playoffs.
