What's a championship team without a Team Video? :)
File make take a little bit to load, but it's embedded so if you have a High-Speed Connection it should be quick.

My other RB, Bill Barilko, signed with a team in African AA #3 Division, and in the same division is...the old Chesapeake Team!!!
There are already three or four threads in the African Forums about the cheaters, one which has Bort asking a lot of questions...should be interesting to see how it turns out.

And the owner and GM who gutted 4 teams have been banned.
I wonder how much money they spent, the one GM, had 20+ players.
If you wonder about the maturity (were they using daddy's credit card to play) look at the manager's forum avatar.

That is wonderful news. First they try to get on top of the new USA leagues by gutting a team, then they lose. So they try to get on the new Africa leagues by bringing 2 previously gutted teams and making a super team. So they get banned. Terrific!

Has anyone noticed the team that won USA A7, the Margaritaville Fins? The ENTIRE team is owned by one guy and they didn't lose a game last year. That guy has owns 64 players! I'm guessing that it would cost over 35,000 Flex Points to boost his entire roster three levels.
There is a special level in Hell for Jimmy Buffett and his fans, eternally searching for their lost shakers of salt. As horrible as the eternal torment they will suffer through, it pails in comparison to the anguish the rest of us have been subjected to in elevators around this world.
I sure would like to meet them and beat the snot out of 'em.
BTW, the new stadium looks great. I hope we can fill all those seats.

Whoa.
Is it 300 Flex Points per boost once you reach level 10? I just boosted my level 10 DT....but notice my level 9 DE would only cost 200 points per level. I was going to wait on him to level again (889 XP) but at the cost of 300 more flex points, I don't think I'll wait!

Duh. My bad.
It was 300 flex to level up my HB. Level ups are equal to their original cost. DE = 200 to create, 200 to level. My G = 100 to create, 100 to level.

ches/rwanda: good news there. Hopefully this discourages cheaters.
Seating: I added 280 seats with all the cash I could afford as soon as I saw the stadium was constructed. I've had three or four people alerady ask me for a $5,583 bonus. Seems everyone is a commedian! We have to pay back a 1.5M loan within like 8 days. But I need to get every seat built as fast as possible tobe able to sell them for as many games as possible. Doing a lot of math! Also have to adjust ticket prices to try and max them out w/o charging too much.
I'm trying to figure out just one referral somehow...
I'd trian on Normal not intense anymore. Just isn't worth it for how much it costs at our levels.

RE: 21 30,100 seats now.
All seats are purchased. Still lots of money n teh bank. Will pay back our loan now even. Really wish I could have constructed more. Maybe we shoudl have waited on all bonuses until right now, but that's cutting it really close. Am pretty shocked we made so much cash. Glad I went with my gut and put the prices back where I thought they'd sell for sure instead of what a few others thought would be safer. Turns out they weren't high enough. upped them aggressively to see what we can make.

Yahoo Reporter: Quick, as we gear towards season 2, the Gurupies have been promoted to the AA division, how do you think that will affect you and the team?
Quick Williams Quick Williams could play with a cheeseburger tied to his back while running through The Biggest Loser TV set and Quick Williams will still come out with at least 72% of the hamburger still in place. Moral of Quick Williams' story: Don't matter if you have the toughest of competition, Quick Williams will bounce around more than Paris Hilton at the Pro-Bowl, if you get what Quick is saying. However, when Quick went out for a drink with the Linebacker fellas, you should have seen how white they got when Quick told them we were going to the AA. (Quick starts laughing uncontrollably)
Yahoo Reporter So you think the Gurupies will be competitive in the higher division then?
Quick Williams Quick knows that the Scoregasms are shaking in their football cleats when they are looking over at the A Division Champs. Quick knows that the linebackers will be looking for him, but with Roman and Quick dodging and running, their linebackers will get less hits than an Amish Website.
Yahoo Reporter Last question Quick, any predictions for tomorrow's game?
Quick Williams You trying to get Quick Williams to say something to inspire the other team aren't you? You think Quick Williams is that slow? Quick got specific instructions from the coaches to keep it vanilla out here, so if you are expecting Quick to say anything, you are sadly mistaken. Joe Roto will do his thing, the defense will stand tall, kicker boy will spread the uprights like peanut butter on a four day old slice of bread. Nothing for the bulletin board here boys, however, Quick will say that when we are done with them, we are going to have to roll over and light up a cigarette....if you know what Quick Williams is saying!.

Man, even our backups are freakin good. The backups played a good part of the 2nd the end of the 3rd and the entire 4th and we stifled em. They weren't pushovers either. 43-0! Incredible.
Bloomington got beat. Another team I thought would be very good , Chicago, got beat by Cincy, another good team--big. Margaritaville sure looks like the team to beat this year. They didn't win huge, which means that team must also be dang good.
This level is so much faster and stronger--but I think we showed them that we belonged...and then some.

Just finished the game. It was a really good win. I think we came in and announced our presence with authority.
As I anticipated, Concho leveled up during the game, so I'll run the next two nights at his new level (14) and then give him a little boost before Sunday's Football Night in America game. I'll allocate all his SP at that time.
I'm in no hurry to get him to 16 because he hasn't re-signed yet; we needed to make a little money and pay off some mortgage loans first. Next week's home game should do that.

C1, everything is paid off. I will re-sign him before he levels again. I can re-sign even the lower level guys now. We're solid.
By backups, I meant the guys we signed basically as ST guys for now until the builds got fixed...like Granby. But he boosted up today and we got him looking a lot better already. Coors, is supposedly our emergcy backup and had 30 plays. Dawg led the team with 4 Pancackes in like half the plays or less.
It's funny, at first RSF wasn't running over anyone. I'm thinkin, uh oh, this could be a long season, but by the 2nd half, he had them dragging on his leg 2 and 3 at a time and he just kept plowing through. He even seemed like his first step was faster--though he is still a little slow. Of course everything looks slow compared to that blur that is Quick! Can you imagine what speed and thta str would do?!?! I checked your build and you didn't even put points in quick first step. Man we have lightning and thunder. I like it a lot. I bet there aren't many who have a power back like we have and boy was it fun to watch!

So Quick, you're team is off to a great start, picking up your second win. I see that you didn't go out on a limb and make a prediction for Game 2 like you did in Game 1.
Quick Williams
Yeah, Quick Williams understands that if he predicted a win EVERY game, the predictions would get old real fast. Quick Williams did check over the schedule and laughed at our next opponent. I guess a USA P division hasn't been created yet, so they let the Minnesota team come play with us.

Not to drag you through the mud Quick, but I did notice you had two fumbles last game. What are your thoughts on that?
Quick WIlliams Two fumbles? Haha...you need to check out the game tapes a little better son. Look over Quick Williams' career, they keep calling my laterals "fumbles". Damn, you will notice Quick Williams has NEVER lost a fumble. Sometimes I see one of the boys open, just as I am about to get hit, so I toss it over. Krishie, that french Fullback dude we got that everyone just calls Pepe Lepew, Quick is all about the winning, and therefore I lateral. Quick's onfield football IQ is amazing. You can't XP that stuff, you know?
Yahoo Sports
So Quick, you guys are champions, you move up, are things different on the team now?
Quick Williams
Yes and No. I mean it was totally different at first, everyone was showing off their rings and whooping it up. Now Boozer and Smash are pissed off and need to win another ring after I won their rings in a poker game the other night. We got a lot of new guys too, so Joe Roto took me aside and we worked out a prank to tell them that they were traded to that Chesapeake/Rwanda team for a couple of other guys. I think the trainer guy is still working on the stains in their team boxers.
Yahoo Sports
Last question Quick, If your team had to go up against the 1985 Bears, who would win?
Quick Williams
Man, that is like comparing a calendar to a clock. A really nice digital clock. What, some of those dudes would be pushing 60 right now, no? Damn you ask stupid questions man. (Quick gets up, grabs his free IPOD for doing the interview, and laterals it to Pepe LePew.)

Right now the game seems geared towards the owners/GMs/Co-ordinators. There is very little for the players to do, especially when you get to higher levels and are leveling up once a week. I see that they are adding a Defense AI Interface that looks really interesting, but again this is for GM's and DC's. They need to add some more features to keep players interested or else this game will quickly die out.

I've thought about that, too. I saw a thread that suggested signing in a D league and holding all your level up and boost SP's until you hit like, a level 5 or 6 and then blasting them all in specific categories for a specific build-type. You use your daily training to steadily increase your preferred categories or those second-tier cats that you wouldn't normally put any SP into. Then you test the market for offers or go to a team like ours that has a plan. It sounds interesting; we may need to consider it as our guys near retirement in order to keep a steady talent flow.

The new D AI is out there to look at, but not turned on yet. It is absolutely amazing, but on a lot of teams will probably bring about the need for an assistant DC. Just a ton of things that can now be input.
There is a thread about it in the forum.
Good game all.

They had a lvl 21 QB and a lvl 19 speedster. They couldn't run at all and were so far behind, that they had to ge tit back quick. No wonder they were throwing it deep a lot. Most didn't connect. Our lines were very good.

I agree with you on the need for players to have more to do.
Also if you guys are losing intrest. Which I really hope is not happening because I want us to stay together for as long as this game keeps going.
Everyone is more than welcome to join our chats at night. At least 2 people are constanly on AIM each day. Just because you are not a GM/Coordinator does not mean your ideas or scouting is no good. It adds to some enjoyment to the game also I would say.

I think Little M is right, this game is loosing its novelty and people who do not own teams are getting bored. Hell, just look at this dedicated group, our posting here has really slowed.
Even with the new AI interface, there is still a huge problem with GLB: the games do not look like NFL games. Watching our games, they are too simple. I can only imagine the complexity and difficulty of programing a football sim, but come on, as Mark Jackson says, "you are better than that." This isn't a high school football MMORPG.
I was so glad to see that we scored a defensive touchdown today. One of my complaints is that there were no interception returns at all, the longest I remember was about 10 yards.

I still enjoy watching the games to see how our team performs, but now that our builds are in place and we're not leveling every-other-game things have slowed down.
I would like to see more daily activities for players, though. I'm just not sure what those activities could/should be. Bort started a thread for suggestions, but most of them are pretty lame right now. I think whatever the new player activity is it needs to add value to either a) the player specifically, b) the team, or c) both. I'm not familiar enough with other MMORPGs to know what kind of things players get invilved in other than real-time battles or whatever they do in Everquest or whatever they're called.

Stag's had a couple longer than that. JT and I were talking about a Def TD right ebfore the game too.
We beat a team today that was rated higher than us. We have a chem advantage but that will be gone in the playoffs. We are the favorites next game and then we play cupcake city before 5 tough games. At least two are big favorites over us as of now. Marg barely beat NY and I am not sure how anyonce can beat Marg right now. Weird thing is that they are all about the same level as us but they are really much better. Must have the perfect builds...and deeper.

looked at margarita and yea they arent that much better then us on there starters. small margin to them but nothing great. One thing which amazed me was that they had 12 OT. how do they play that many? I guess jsut for ST but seems crazy
Also looking at there wide receivers they are rated 33s with 42 in receiing and carrying while I am only rated 30 with 36 and 33. Thats a large swing in there favor for wen we are the same level. Although I have a lot of points in specials so that likely hurts be on the bars. Still be interested to see how they are built

Just remember that Marg is all one owner, so if he did his homework he can get all his guys to where they should be, and as our team we're all spread out and each guy does a little thing different and doesn't all understand the game the same amount. That's basically what the issue is going to be.

So I created a DE and DT...and have them on CPU teams in the D league to build up...maybe I can get a player on the gurupies at some point.
Couple questions...what is the advantage of not boosting your player? I see a lot of people advertising unboosted players...
You can boost 3 levels a season? Should I boost now in my first season because I am sure I will not join a human team until I have at least leveled up for a season...
Any other quick tips anyone can offer as far as builds...most important stats...special abilities...specifically for DE and DT...

ChicagoTRS, I'll email you some info tonite on my DT. On human teams, different people use different thought processes as far as when to boost. We've pretty well fallen into the boost right away camp. The thought will delaying on boosting is to allow yourself to get more out of the training XPs and to allow yourself to level up a little faster, and then use the boosts going into the playoffs to assist the team. We saw last season that we needed the boosts early to get us to the playoffs.
Hope this helps and will email more tonite.

If you read this thread in the forum you'll see good builds of players at each position with what type of player each build is.
As for boosting it really depends on what you want to do. Your XP is based on your level (100 XP a day for level 1 training, and it decreases as you level up. My level 17 is currently getting 37 XP a day from training) You'll also gain more XP when you play, but from my experience on the D-league is they try to get everyone even playing time, regardless of level. You might want to save those boost for the end of the season so you can gain as much cheap training/xp as you can. You can probably get a decent contract at the beginning of next year when you'll probably be around a level 9 or 10. (I'm guessing, I have no real idea what you could end up being) The key to getting contract offers is posting on the "players looking for a team" board and PMing GMs and owners who post on the "teams looking for players" board.
Drop me an e-mail and I'll send you our DT/DEs builds so you can also take a look at the Gurupie way to build a player. :) I'll also give you my comments about each player. I can also answer any questions you have.

Agreed with J.
If you are on a D league computer team, just save your boosts so that you can LvL up quicker through your game experience and playing time.
On the D League teams, all the players play, its almost like little league. Once you get higher, you need to be good to get the playing experience, therefore boosting early will get you more XP.
My advice therefore, stay with the D League team this year, boost as late as you can for this season, probably during the offseason is best, but make sure you do it before the start of next season, or you will lose the ability to boost for season 3.

one thought regarding boosts -
keep in mind, you only get three per season.
if you are planning on being a regular booster (i.e. every season), it pays to boost at some point this season, even if you are in D-League, and again next season.
i have a LVL 10 guy in D League right now. he's probably one of the highest leveled guys there. i'm keeping him there a bit longer, because he is starting, and getting probably max XP. i don't want him to sign with a human team, just to ride the pine right now.

I thought I had read that some people were not spending their Skill Points so that when they trained, they earned more each evening. Then at some point, maybe after joining a human team, using them to make a better player.
I just created a Guard who is in the D league and I think I'm going to follow that advice. I will boost him on the last day of the off season. I used all 15 of his initial Skill Points on his Special Skill trees and plan on training STR, Blocking, and Stamina.

Re 105:
I think what the theory is, if you don't apply your XP to certain categories, your evening training would net you higher returns.
If you train a category, you get more XP the lower the actual number of that skill is.

7-2 ain't bad, but it's tough when 2 of the 3 teams ahead of you have beaten you. The next 2 games are important to win, then we have a 4 vs. 5 matchup.
13-3 is still very possible. It would have been a lot easier to attain had we won that game, but we'll just have to pull off the upset against Brooklyn or Margarita. 13-3 should get us at least 1 home playoff game. It's still possible to get a 2 seed. Alabama still has to play New York and Cincinnati. If we are able to win out then we can get a 2 seed with only 1 'bama loss. We're still in this baby!

Focus on facing DBs who can't tackle :)
Looking at the Gurupies WRs I wouldn't be able to put it on one stat. Our leader in average YAC is a TE. He's got 13% of the total YAC on our team his avg. YAC is double of what anyone else's is.
Honestly I can't tell what gets some people YAC and prevents others from getting it.

Quick Williams has announced that in recognition of receiving the honor of the Mid-Season Offensive Player of the Year award from former owner and current GM, Kyle N, Quick has commissioned an extremely popular Pop Culture artist to create the following work of art to celebrate this amazing award:
Quick would like to thank:
The Offensive Line for creating holes larger than the linebackers' anal cavities after Tequila Night at the Sanchez.
Roman Gabriel for allowing Quick to take mini-rests while schmoozing with all his female fans.
Joe Roto for being lazy sometimes and choosing to just hand off the ball rather than try to throw it somewhere up the field.
The offensive co-ordinator for immediately recognizing Quick's immense gifts and utilizing them on the field.
Finally, Quick has promised something special for tonight's game against the Dirty South. He will be unveiling a special play called "The Quick and They're Ugly", which he is going to dedicate to all of his lady fans.

In my mind, the game tomorrow against NY is our biggest game of the year. If we win, I think we'll finish in the top four and have a home playoff game. We got the short end of the stick by getting Brooklyn as our one game against the West, they are awesome.
We obviously didn't have financial problems this season, but next year most players will reach level 24 and the equipment upgrade is going to be seriously expensive. One home playoff game sure would help that cost. After a quick perusal of the league, I didn't see any other team with as much $$$ as us. Nice job, guys.
If Alabama really has not boosted any players, I can't imagine them losing in the playoffs. Their starters would all be level 25 or more after the boost. Their only problem is they will not have the $$$ to pay for equipment upgrades.
I just noticed that the Fins play Bel Air in the final week. How sweet is that, a rematch of the A7 championship and a possible preview of AA4's. If we don't make it through the playoffs, I'd like to see the Fins and Bel Air move on, it sure would shut up the loud mouths in this league. Are there bigger douchebags than the Denton clowns? No, there are not.

as I see it today I don't think that we will have money problems next year to buy Level 24 equipment. it is 200k per player and if all 51 players need that money we only need 10 mil. assuming we have a fully expanded stadium next year (will cost 17 mil) we should get plenty of cash for season tickets and much more for concessions. what other expenses are there other than salary, equipment costs and stadium upgrades? if the stadium is at the max we only need to pay the players to train and buy their equipment. even buying a Level 32 equipment for 800k (?) could be possible.

Well Speedy McPickster is making almost 98K, our backup FS, Kyle Nelson, is making more than the starter ($40/year more), and Haya Griva who has less stats and a lower level than Joe McSack is making 10k more a year. Both start and Haya does have some advantages that I won't talk about on here.
Big Nelly is holding out during the offseason for Big Money. He heard that LTs are some of the highest paid players in the NFL and wants more money. Maybe some of that internet money.

re 140: I thought part of the reason we were all willing to accept lower contracts than the open market could provide was that there would be the assurance that we could get our equipment.
I am sure that most of us are training responsibly, and have some monies saved up to apply to future equipment, but I still think its important for the team to ensure that money is available for all possible equipment upgrades.
We make more money when we win games. We win more games when our players are better. Our players are better when they have all available equipment on.
Realizing that our management has been very committed to ensuring that all players have the highest of equipment, I am not too concerned about it not happening.

Of course Haya Griva gets paid more than Joe McSack. The "Horse-necked one" has six arms! He carries a sword in one and use to carry a noose in another until he was told that was racially insensitive. When he strides into contract negotiations, he is adorned with the skulls of offensive linemen, quarterbacks, and previous general managers.
Funny thing is, his anger comes from the compassion he feels for those "afflicted" by attachment. He bulldozes through these poor linemen who are so wound up with the thought of winning in order to free them from such silliness. Furthermore, when he crushes running backs, only then do they realize their vanity is causing them suffering. That's why the whole team thanks him after the game, from the hospital, of course.

I've looked at our team's Scouting Report bar charts and noticed that no one has reached the green zone for their "Overall" category. If I'm to understand correctly, "Overall" measures a player's build as well as reflecting his level.
Maybe we should offer some sort of prize for the first Indy Gurupie who makes green. Some sort of trophy posted on these boards.

there are plenty of people with green overall. Most of them seem to be higher level linemen. i have seen one WR in the mix.
generally speaking, when the status bar hits 39 or 40, that seems to be when the bar itself starts moving into green.
having said that, well, the builds are things you have to search for. but they are out there.

And the cherry on top is not only do we get a home playoff game, Chicago (a 10 point W for us) leapfrogged New York (a 23 point L). However, Chicago has apparently boosted; they look stacked now.

Actually ChicagoTRS what we're looking for is brand new players just created in season 3. Then they'd take advantage of the season 3 boost, and not boost until the end of the season in season 4, 5, and so on, until we needed to replace the current Gurupie squad. If you are unhappy with the PT those 2 players are getting I could check with my other team (a Level 13 cap league team just now being released) to see if we could use them. I know we're short on DTs. I'll drop you a message on GLB.

I've placed my QB with an expansion team, and we could use some players. Level 13 capped league. They just got their team awarded last night, so they are a day or two behind in recruiting.
PM me at 'Species' on GLB if interested. Starting positions needed.

don't sign longer than a one year deal. I think next season we may have to make some changes. Also, I have another idea that I'm developing...

Anyone that wants on this team, no matter what level your player is (under the 13 cap) is welcome. And frankly Kyle i'm kind of ticked that you were sending people away from a team you have had no part in, but I digress.
Anyone will be used on this team and will get as many plays as the sim allows (considering it doesn't always do what you want it to each game). If you're a 4 and there is also a 10 at your position it isn't going to stop you from getting plays. Any questions ask away.

Okay my bad - I assumed all or most of the new Gurupie farm team would be those level 4/5's that were created on/near the last day of season 3. I did the same thing as Kyle (stating there's an expansion team I'm on and could use levels 10-13) but wouldn't take away from the Gurupie team.

Well that kind of sucks as I would have much preferred to be on a Gurupie team...I just signed my two DL with another team yesterday. Seems like a good team but my playing time seems a bit questionable with higher level players ahead of me.
I have a level 1 receiver...if you would like him on your team. I had kind of planned to D league him for his first season...and leave him unboosted and hopefully get to level 13 unboosted and sign with 13 capped team next year and then boost to 16...and then boost to 19 once season 5 started.

Does anyone own a team and stock it with all of their own players? How much would the initial setup cost be and per season maintenance?
I would like to have my WR on the new team. "Reed Iculous is a balla...show me some flow"

Yeah there are alot of teams that are 50 of the owners own players. On the Indy team there is Margaritaville Fins which had 54 of the owners guys last I checked.

What a brutal way to start the season: Dominate the best team in the league, outgain them by over 100 yards, and lose.

For some reason we did not kick a FG to end the 1st half when we were on the 10 yard line.
Then in the 3rd quarter 5:17 we went for it instead of attemping a 50 yard fg
Then with 4:28 in the 3rd we went for it on 4th down from the 30
I dont understand the sim.

The silliest part is who the sim screwed up again...even though we had the settings to run 70 times and only pass 30 times. Someone needs to address this with Bort, and get it fixed right away!

good luck with this guys.
there were a slew of problems with the first games, including substitution patterns.
when Bort was asked about what GMs and owners should tell their team members who didn't get into the game and were pissed off about it, his response was "Tell them it was a bug!"

With all these bugs that are being talked about, considering its a BETA game, and we are the testers, should we be paying money to play? Don't testers usualy get paid to test out BETA products, either through money or other free incentives?

Nobody is holding a gun to my head when I go to the store to buy a gallon of milk either. But when I get it home and it pours out in clumps do I not have the right to recieve what I paid for? Or Am I just supposed to take "Sorry...we are beta testing new milk processing.....and it was a bug....or two"????

that's a bad argument.
if you don't pay, you can't really be competitive. heck, you can't even own a team if you don't pay.
the point is, if there are bugs, instead of dismissing it and moving on, more should be done. the bug was enough to have an effect on the outcome of games - it was the first game of the season, so it could have been rolled back.

The question for everyone then becomes, would you rather play with the stuff you've bitched about in the past or with new stuff when it's trying to be fixed?
Do you buy computer games that have bugs? Yes, then they get patched and a new set of flaws are found.
Do you buy Cereal that have bugs? Yes, and they is a limit to how many there can be in each cup.

Hey we're getting something for free for beta testing the game, 100 free flex points every 40 days... That's $3 I've gotten or about 1.5% of what I've put into the game, so far.

but generally speaking, you're not continuing to pay for the game when you purchase it.
if there are bugs, they should fix those before rolling out new features.

And then more bugs will crop up. At what point do you roll it out? This isn't some giant company spending millions of dollars to bring out a product that's crisp and clear with graphics. And like I said even then there are always issues. What about Microsoft with their roll out's of OS's? Or Apple with their issues on the 3G IPhone roll out. This is an MMO and those cost monthly fee's to play them, so what makes this any different if you're interested in boosting players and creating more?

Punk, I agree with you that there will never be a perfect product and it is unreasonable for us to demand perfection. However, there is a big gap between demanding perfection and getting "sorry it's a bug". The games that ran in the morning had players with energy in the 60's. The fix for them was that Bort was going to add 10 energy points to all those players so they could train on relaxed and get back to 100. Bort then made a change to the energy settings which made it so players in the evening games could be on the field for the entire game and lose very little energy. This caused players who are backups to see little or no time....and more importantly...no XP. There was no fix offered for these players...only a "sorry....its a bug". For our team it meant that our depth advantage was totally rendered useless because the other team's starters could remain on the field at full strength. I dont know that there was a viable solution to this as re-simming games would have caused a huge uproar in cases where the outcomes were different.
As for the problems/bugs that Indy experienced I cannot say. We asked for more control over our play calling and it was given. Are the problems a result of teams using them incorrectly or the SIM doing the opposite of what is being set? I do know that the team that punted from the 9 yard line has a legitimate beef if it was the fault of a bug.
