Now that the RIBC managers have been named (pending one acceptance), it is time to work on forming the Qualifying Leagues.

We will again form two AAA leagues, plus as many AA leagues as are necessary to accommodate interested managers. Each league will have 16 managers. The following teams will have first priority in filling the 32 AAA spots:

1. Teams finishing 7-16 in last year’s RIBC.
2. Teams finishing 4-8 in each of the 2007 AAA leagues
3. Teams finishing 2-8 in each of the two 2007 AA leagues

This list comprises 33 teams. Since it is unlikely that we’ll get 32 acceptances from that list, I won’t bother to prioritize the list (other than first come, first served).

RIBC 7-16 (9 teams)
JTSERB
Holt
Filthy
Athletics Guy
Peter N.
KKB
philsphan
Trip
Bags

AAA 4-8 (10 teams)
Andrew
Allhair
darkside
ksoze
Da Bomb Squad
Weykool
TD
Bandos
Aggy
Hubble

AA 2-8 (14 teams)
I Hate Philadelphia
R9
Mikel
Sandwich Statics
Annihilators deux
Khahan
Nerfherders
Donkey Hunter
Papa
Annihilators
gurudan
GoatLocker
Dilligad
johnsrw

In some cases, I’ve simply listed the team name, as I don’t know the manager’s name. There are two teams with Annihilator in the name; perhaps those were run by the same manager?

To the extent that we have additional openings for AAA slots, I suggest that we first offer them to teams finishing 9th or 10th in a 2007 AAA league. Those three managers are Toral, JKaye, and Mudge. After them, any manager in a 2007 qualifying league may fill a remaining opening, first come, first served. In other words, start a list!

We will also have as many AA leagues as necessary to fulfill the interest. Managers not on the AAA priority list may begin forming those leagues now.

We do need managers to commish each of the Qualifying Leagues. It will be the first duty of each commish to coordinate the organization of the league. If possible, I’d like to recruit the two AAA commissioners before either of those leagues starts to fill, so that spots in those leagues might be filled simultaneously.

I would prefer that each Qualifying League use the “On the Clock” software at Kafenatid.net for their draft. RotoGuru.com will offer to pay the cost of this for each QL. By using common software for all leagues, it will be easier to produce consolidated draft analysis.

There are two regular season games in Tokyo on March 25-26. If those games are to be included in your league (each league may decide), you should try to get your draft completed by that time. Last year, the RIBC draft took 16 days to complete – and that was moving at a pretty good pace.

A few notes about responsibilities and expectations are warranted. If you wish to manage a team in a qualifying league, you should be prepared to meet these expectations:

1. You will provide a working email address to your league commish so that you can be reached if needed. You should also check your league thread regularly, both before and during the draft. Nothing slows things down more than a manager who disappears.

2. You will generally be available during your league’s draft period. If your access is going to be limited, you will make reasonable efforts to use draft queues or designated pickers to keep the draft moving along.

3. You will observe appropriate “professional courtesy” and etiquette in all dealings with your commissioner and other managers in your league.

Any volunteers for Commissioners?

Excellent!

Why don't the two AAA Commishes go ahead and set up threads to organize those two leagues.

Hmm, actually, Guru, I have a question: it appears I'm AAA qualified this year as I finished 7th in my league last year. If that is the case, somebody can step up in the Eastern League and just take it over. I'll jump into Cliff's AAA league.

I'm in, took 12th in AAA last year and looking for redemption! I'd prefer AAA PCL again, but I if I need to move down that's fine.

I forgot I was eligible for AAA. I would be glad to play again.

I don't have any preference to a league.
I live in Texas if you are doing leagues for timezone purposes.

Bags, no leagues based on time zones that I know of. Traditionally the leagues are named after real life AA and AAA leagues.

I'm afraid I'll need to opt out of RIBC this year. Just too much other stuff going on. Good luck drafting, all.

Bump

Mike V is stepping down as Commish and I am taking over for the RIBC AAA International league(originally posted a SOUTH).

We are still waiting to hear from qualified managers. If you have interest in joining a waitlist, we are still a few managers short. As the AA Eastern has already started their draft, I will not take any managers from that league.

Guru, are you setting up the Kafenatid draft, or should I?

Can anyone provide a synopsis of where things stand with regard to QLs? I'm trying to get caught up without having to read through a bunch of different threads.

What is the current status of the AAA leagues? How many spots are still open? Have attempts been made to contact all qualified managers?

It looks like one AA league has been formed and filled. Is there any movement toward a second AA league?

Here is where I believe everyone is:

AAA Pacific Coast-- Draft is underway. In round 1.

AAA International-- Draft order selection is ongoing. Only 3 people have selected spots so far.

AA Eastern--Draft is well underway.

Don't see a 2nd AA currently.

Guru, given the trouble filling two AA leagues this year, do you think we should go back to one AAA league? Here is a proposal...

RIBC 2009
RIBC 1-7 (7)
AAA 1-3 (6)
AA winners (2)
Guru (1)

AAA 2009
RIBC 8-14 (7)
AAA 4-6 (6)
AA 2 and best 3 (3)

Then, assuming 1 AAA and 2 AA
RIBC 2010
RIBC 1-8 (8)
AAA 1-5 (5)
AA winners (2)
Guru (1)

AAA 2010
RIBC 9-14 (6)
AAA 6-9 (4)
AA 2-4 (6)

Filling a second AA league doesn't really seem to be a problem. It just took a jump start.

Hi Guru,

I heard about the RIBC from Weykool and was wondering if there was still any openings for AA for this year. Please let me know what i can do to join.

Weykool gave me the lowdown and it looks like a fun, serious league.

thanks

Same as The Tran...if there are any waitlists or open slots in an RIBC AA league I would love to be considered for it. The prospect of playing a full season with people who will actually be involved and active is too good to pass up.

The second AA league filled earlier today. We can try a third AA league if there is enough interest. We'll need 16 managers, as well as a willing commish.
