If you are the volunteer who is doing the random thingie, be sure to add WG to the end of the list (alphabetically that's where he goes.)

See my reply all of Judy's email.
First, a big thanks for our commish volunteer Judy, and my sincere condolences on her loss.
Sure. I'll collect the random numbers if no one else volunteered yet. I'll use the Guru RIBC method.
I will take an alphabetical list of managers, resequence it based on one set of random numbers, and then assign pick order based on a second set.
I need two league mates to privately email me a random list of numbers 1-16. Just click here
After I receive the first two sets, I'll re-post in the forum the results. If the lists come in after midnight ET, I'll post in the AM.
Good luck to all.

Once everyone signs up for the draft, I can open it, so that if you are ready you can make your pick.
We need to decide when we want to formally open the draft. It should go quickly as the new draftime is really geared for setting up round specific Q's and has lots of options for you. I hope you have explored them.
If it is anything like the football draft, I, as commish, had to do very little badgering to get people to make picks.
WARNING: It does go very fast with the auto pick, especially in the second half of the draft. Generally, I run an untimed draft and have found that we finish in plenty of time.
Any thoughts?

I agree we go clock-less unless we start to see ourselves under the gun. (That being said, if you know you are going to unavailable for a period of time, please give a courtesy heads up for us on the refresh button).
I imagine the compu-pick will speed things up tremendously. If someone that is on-deck is ready, they could (should) simply set their one or two player queue so they do not need to be online when their turn does come up. Some may feel comfortable setting their auto-queue even further out.
If I can offer any other assistance during the draft, I always have Blackberry in hand. I can be texted at 8455483544.

I just open it untimed in case folks want to pick -- certainly the first round will go fast and then everyone has to sit back and think and do more research after the studly types are gone...
Any thoughts on an official opening day for the draft? Trust me it will go fast with the new Kafenatid/Draftime...

RIBC doesn't seem to have decided anything other than "before March 15".
AAA/AA leagues used to start before them, so no-one could think we were copying their papers. ButI think we will be faster than they will and have no time problems, so I would suggest Monday, March 14.

#58 S Zen (first) great to be in a league with you again, (second) if memory serves me correct, this league is blazing along compared to my last 3 RIBC drafts. I'm sure it helps that we have as talented and experienced set of managers seen outside the majors RIBC league. Whom ever wins this league will have performed admirably.

Should we be preparing our rationales to be posted 5 at a time along with our rationale for choice of a draft choice and expecting them to be posted in no particular order starting at about the beginning of the 6th round in a thread set aside for that purpose?

We have made great progress and are really in no hurry at this point.
I'm calling bullshit. I don't think this is great progress, not when we regularly have two, three or more hours between picks in the middle of the day. There are teams that haven't filled a single queue. This is a two week process that really should be completed in a week. There are 7 or 8 teams that draft properly, we have to wait for the rest.
I'm just not as patient, polite and optimistic as you, judy.

Guys like Jeff G who have not spent one second making his picks bring that average down quite a bit. I'm pretty sure he is married with kids and has a life, but the life of a Yankees fan, so I don't know if that really qualifies.
In short, you can have a busy life AND fill a queue set for autopick.

I have been involved in a number of RIBC drafts, and they all have taken about two weeks to complete.
It is not prudent to leave long queues in early rounds because you don't know what direction the draft is heading 10 picks away from your pick.
The pace usually picks up later in the draft, and if it looks like we won't complete in two weeks, Judy will set a timer.

I really wish that Beancline would have left a 3-player queue.
A 5.5+ hour delay in the middle of the day, when there was only one manager (2 picks) before he picks again ... is unacceptable.
Charlie Sheen would say "Not winning".

I don't even care that Diddy is taking his average of three hours to make his pick because I just learned that my daughter has been accepted to my alma mater University of California at Riverside!
But if we continue to crawl along at one round a day, tomorrow I will care.

Makes you wonder how Taxman makes his pick in round 10, then forgets he's at the end of the draft and doesn't get us going back up in round 11.

I have resurrected my program that sends out each pick as either an email or as a text message.
Essentially, each time a pick in your draft is made, you would receive an email or text message in this format: RIBC-AAAy: 3.13 Utley, Chase, 2B, PHI by [manager]
If you have it sent to an email address, that should appear as the subject. If sent as a text message, that will be the message.
Note that if you have these sent as text messages, each pick will count as one out-of-network message. With 300+ picks to go, don't use text messages unless you can handle the marginal cost of that many out-of-network messages.
If you want to be included, send me (davehall@rotoguru2.com) your message destination(s) - email address, cell phone #, or both. If it's a cell phone, you also need to tell me your cell phone carrier. Also tell me which league you are in.

Can we not be so snippy? The turnaround spot can be tricky as there are 20 picks until your next one and you could get toasted. I doubt he was up at 2:09 am to see his round 10 pick...

First off, congrats Seattle Zen .. To your point with my average 3 hours per pick, is it that bad? Why so hostile with the name calling? :)
Of course, if judy that we are too slow then we should just put in a time limit. If you don't put in a queue then just skip to the next one.

I will be picking for Bean -- his 15.15 selection shows in the box to me as commish, but I did not received specific designated picker instructions from him and he has yet to answer my email from last night. It has been too long and there are too many autopicks ready to go. This also means I will select his 16.02 as I can see that it is filled and available. The draft continues!!

Truly sorry about the long delay yesterday. I'm on a little vacation in Key West, and had to move from one resort to another. When we checked in I found issues with trying to connect to the internet.
