GO, I am going to make a huge list of things that has been discussed, but I think in order for enough people to vote for that, you'd need to understand the consequences of that change being in place and show how your proposal would take that into account and make things better. Cards listed a couple of reasons why the rule was made this way at the beginning of the league. But to be honest, I don't know of any league (that can control it) that would allow you to pick up a RB or QB for instance during the playoffs. But more importantly for a keeper league, a team going nowhere who wants to dump an old guy who cna't help them next year could be a HUGE find for a contender who needs that guy to help him for the playoffs right now.
Normally for rule change proposals people list what they want and why they want it and how it will help the league. Certainly not required, but I think that would help you in crafting your proposal to gain some support.

And what would prevent that person from just dropping that old player the last week of the regular season for the same exact reason? It seems like kind of an arbitrary deadline to me. You play this entire season and then a guy gets hurt (Delhomme?) and you can't pick up a replacement (Tavaris Jackson, Weinke)? That doesn't seem fair to me. Especially in a league so deep its impossible to have decent backups across the board. You just have to pray for no injuries for 3 weeks, and that just makes it a war of attrition.
Anyway, I guess these will all be discussed when the proposal is formalized.

GO, don't all the pro leagues have a deadline to add a player in order to be playoff eligible?
I have played in only one league in my life that allowed you to pick up a QB during the playoffs and that was a Yahoo League and I never played on their site ever again after that. Just looking around on the boards, I don't see a non Yahoo site that allows you to do that. In RIFC for instance, you are allowed to pickup a TE, K or IDP, but no one else.
As I said before, our league is a Keeper league. Every team was allowed to play in a consolation tourney to continue to compete w/o hurting their draft status if they weren't in the money. This allows everyone to follow the league at least one more week and play someone close to their record. It also counts toward their yearly and franchise overall record. We've tried to think of everything to inspire teams to do their best. But if they were out of it, why would they care if they dumped a Garcia or Bruce or Tiki for instance (assuming he is def. retiring?) And being a keeper league, you can't restrict a team who is out of it from picking up someone as a potential keeper.
Since I helped craft the original rules, all I can tell you is what went into our (rfs and I) thinking when we made the rules. Obviously, we've changed a few and I am always open to someone having a better way of doing things. In fact, I've voted for most if not all of the changes that were passed. Another thought is that how can you play off with a team that you didn't have during the year? In other words, you need to anticipate your team if you're trying to win right now. Do you want that young RB who might start next year or do you want to have your QB handcuff in case of an injury?
So anyhow, now that you know many of our reasons for making the rule, perhaps it will help you craft a resolution that will be better than what we have. Thanks for taking such an interest in the league and for making such an impact during your first year. You tied me with 5 trades made and certainly improved a team that was the worst in the league to not only the top half, but can win the Wanna Be Bowl this week! Good show my friend.

You make perfect sense saying they could drop a guy like Tiki, but honestly, if I had Tiki and.... couldn't move him for a pick, was gonna lose him, and wasn't in the playoffs - I would have dropped him for someone who had a hope of making an impact next year. And I would have done that before the deadline.
So thats why I think the deadline is arbitrary. But maybe not everyone thinks like that. I'll try and craft something formal when we are actually putting it up for vote.

It's going to come down to the Christmas Day games to decide the new Champion. Coldwater Coyotes is holding a slim 4 point lead with Witten to play, while CCRider got a big game from Gore to answer Jones-Drew. Should be a lot of interest in both games tomorrow.

Congratulations to the new G24 Champion Coldwater Coyotes as he wins both the regular season and the Playoffs. Great job!
It was anybody's game right until the end as one TD catch by Coles could have changed the outcome.

Congrats Coyotes. It has to be rewarding to win such a large league and your team played well from start to finish.
It was a fun season for me because my team actually competed. That is always nice. Now I have years to think about my decision to start Miami over the Jets in the first round. Doh!

Well played Coyotes. Doesn't matter how much you score as long as you beat your opponent. Seems like Doug's team is the only one that soared this week. What a disappointing week for fantasy teams this week everywhere it seems. I thought Coles would be a decent play Monday so I thought CCR could easily win, but Coles turned out to disappoint.
The AFC wins for the 4th time in 5 years. Only fitting that the two best teams on the year duke it out and the regular season best team wins it all as well. Say what you will about H2H and luck but it's hard to argue with that. This is the 3rd time that's happened ('03 Colts, '05 49ers).
I'm working on the franchise standings now.

I found two adjustments to make neither affecting the outcome. One of the adjustments was my team losing 0.2 pts making it even closer as I held on to win 3rd place over MBJ by a score of 80.22 to 80.1.

Current Streaks (5 or more): bmd's Texans L5, PD's Browns L5, Promize's Seahawks L9, Toral's Saints W5, Peter N's Cowboys L8.
I am going to organize these records and may add a few and add them to separate sheets on our web site in the near future. The SS is found in a link on our G20/24 web site. The records are on our constitution and will remain there but will be edited by week/season/overall. I will also add a page that has the overlal franchise records vs. all other opponents. If we change our rules substantially (i.e. adding IDPs that will make a big impact on our scoring) then we will have some records for our first five years stand and start some new records beginning next year. Feel free to post or drop me an email/AIM with any observations, comments or suggestions.

I have to thank the rain in NY for Coles' poor performance. I don't buy Joe Theisman's view that there is no difference between throwing a wet and a dry ball. Thanks to REF and others for making this a great league.

I've been able to add re-arrange our records by week/season/overall. I've been able to add some records on our site and on sheet 2 of our franchise records on our G20/24 web site. Sheet 3 will be updated with all time records vs. Opponents.
Here are the new records added. Some of them are very interesting. I was surprised by a few of them actually.
Most Point Scored Overall 1. 6643.8 Ref's Colts 2. 6103.1 StL Cards' 49ers 3. 5995.1 bj21's Rams 4. 5974.4 CCR's Bears 5. 5852.9 Peter N's Cowboys
Found a lot of interesting things as I was checking my work on this.
First, Coyotes has played his last game every single year against CCR! He's played him a total of six times and he's in the opposite conference. Coyotes has only played mbj 5 times (in the same conference) after playing him twice this year (played Jax twice our first year instead of mbj it turns out).
Not one franchise has played every other franchise. The range is from 1-6 teams never played.
GL's Chargers have the 5th worst overall record yet are 7-0 against Dan's Bills! No other team has better than a 6-0 record vs. any other team.

Although, it'd be nice to have at least half the owners voting for a measure before we proceed with it definitively. Maybe if we define it a bit more the 3 NMI owners can make a definitive vote, as well as the 5 who haven't voted.
Of course, I'm biased and still holding out hope it fails... I love IDP in general, but hate the idea of trying to incorporate it into our league at this point.

I never got an emial on this for some reason. Off-season trades are supposed ot be on. I will approve it...
As for possible rule changes. There will be a formal league vote on any rules change proposals that have enough backing. There are two proposals in which we will form exploratory committees on. I have a few volunteers but could prob use a couple more. Now that baseball season is underway, we should probably move forward on these committees.

OK, Hoops season is over, so we need to get working on the committees. Had a few people lined up (need to go back and look through my emails). We'd like to have two committees formed to discuss and formulate a plan to present to the league (yea or nay) on:
1. IDP implementation 2. Realignment/DH so teams can play their own Div. twice and everyone once
You don't need to have a preference, but if you do have a preference be prepared to play devil's advocate so we can see both sides of each issue. We will probably want five members plus Cards and myself on each committee. You can be on more than one committee, but we'd like to have a range of managers (different level of success last season/overall/experience in G24/G20s, etc.)
These and the other proposals are listed on our site.
Also, CBS is giving us 50% off the site this year and the early bird price is due by June 27th.

Maybe it just needs to be split into three year increments or I really like the idea of having a thread dedicated for charts and records. That way they don't get lost in the discussion threads and the discussion threads don't get this wacky. I am going to keep posting this extrememly long paragraph because I am curious how far to the right it will actually go. Crappy weather here in KC today, but seeing how I was inside for most of it, doesn't matter much. I think I will go eat some dinner as soon as I am done typing all this up. NFL draft in 3 days and a wake-up. I love the draft. Maybe I can make a trade or two and somehow move back into the first round or early second for our league upcoming draft. Okay, that should be about enough for this test.
