The home of all league discussion going forward.
The RIFC will be voting this week on potential rules changes. Any changes will be incorporated into this league.
I will use the randomizer built into the mfl draft system to set the order for managers to choose their draft position.
This league will use a "banzai" order, which is the same as a traditional snake except that the 3rd round is reversed. Therefore, the team picking #1 overall will pick last in rounds 2, 3, & 4 so it will look like 1-14, 14-1, 14-1, 14-1, 1-14, 14-1, etc. Please keep that in mind when you make your selection.

Rules for this year - note no team def this year and some other changes...plan accordingly...
Rules for 2011, as amended by RIFC league vote.
Draft “Banzai” format: Same as a traditional snake, except the third round is reversed. Thus, the team with the first overall pick has the last pick in rounds 2, 3, and 4.
Roster 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 WR/TE 1 TE 1 K 2 DL 2 LB 2 DB 1 additional IDP (flex) 9 bench 24 Total
Decimal scoring is applied for all categories.
Offense Category Points (apply to all players, including IDP) Passing TD 4 Other TD 6 (all TDs, whether on offense, defense, or special teams) Passing-2pt conv 1 Other-2pt conv 2 Passing yard 1/25 (i.e., .04 per yard) Rushing yard 1/10 (i.e., .10 per yard) Receiving yard 1/10 Punt return yard 1/10 (also applies to IDP) Kick return yard 1/25 (also applies to IDP) Kick return 0 (no deduction) Int, fumbles lost -2
Kicking Points (apply to all players, including IDP) Extra point made 1 Extra point missed -1 FG under 40 yards 3 FG 40-49 yards 4 FG 50+ yards 5 Missed FG <30 -1 Missed FG 30+ 0
Indiv Defensive Player Points (apply to all players, including offensive players and kickers) Solo Tackle 1 Asst Tackle 0.5 Tackle for loss 2 QB hit 1 Pass defensed 1 Sack 1 (half sack=0.5) Interception 3 Fumble forced 2 Fumble recovery 2 TD 6 (all TDs, whether on offense, defense, or special teams) Safety 3 Blocked kick (FG, XP, punt) 2
Unlisted players During the draft, any player may be drafted, regardless of whether or not the player is listed at the hosting game site. Once the draft is completed, unlisted players may not be added to any roster. This applies for any post-draft waiver processing as well.
In the event that a drafted player is not listed after the draft has completed, a placeholder player will be assigned to the drafting team, to be replaced by the drafted player as soon as he is available.
Position eligibility Except as defined below, a player's position eligibility will be that assigned by the league hosting site.
If a player is listed at one position when drafted and that position is subsequently changed by the hosting site, the manager drafting that player may elect to retain the original position. In this event, that player will keep the drafted position eligibility until he is dropped or traded, at which time the eligibility will revert to the hosting system's default position.
Priority Claiming All free agents (any players not on a current roster) are subject to a weekly claiming process at noon on Wednesday. Following each of the first 6 weeks of the season, the priorities will reset weekly based on the reverse of W/L percentage (with applicable tiebreakers). After that, priorities will not be reset during the regular season. Throughout the season, when a player is claimed, the claiming team moves to the end of the claiming priority list. Following the final regular season game, priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.
Starting at 3:00pm on each Wednesday, all free agents may be picked up by any team "first come, first served" without any change in priority status. Dropped players will be subject to a one day waiver period, subject to processing rules administered at the hosting site. Managers may not “cycle” though a series of free agents solely for the purpose of blocking them from availability. In such instances, the Commissioner will take appropriate corrective action.
Immediately following the draft, undrafted players will be subject to a priority claiming process, with priorities equal to the reverse of the first round draft order.
Starting five minutes prior to the scheduled start of each NFL game, no player in that game may be dropped, regardless of whether the player is an active or bench player.
Schedule 13 week round robin Doubleheaders all weeks 1-13 (play each team twice) Single elimination playoffs, weeks 14-16
Trades and trade deadline During the draft, trades may include draft picks. Trades will normally be approved immediately by the Commissioner, assuming they are reasonably balanced. If league managers believe an announced trade is unbalanced, they should protest the trade ASAP.
After the draft, trades will be subject to a review period. For the first 24 hours following a trade, managers may protest a trade by posting a message at the RotoGuru forum, or by sending an email to the Commissioner. If at least 3 managers protest a trade within 24 hours of its announcement, then all managers will be polled within the next 24 hours. If seven or more managers vote to veto a trade, then it will not be approved. If a proposed trade is announced less than 24 hours before the earliest freeze for any player involved, then the entire trade will not be processed until the following week.
If a trade does not receive at least 3 protests, then it will be effective 24 hours after it is announced. If a trade receives at least 3 protests but the protests are not upheld in a full league vote, then the trade will be processed 48 hours after it is announced.
The trade deadline is the weekend following the final week with byes.
Stat corrections Official stat corrections will be automatically applied. This typically happens on Thursday morning. In the playoffs, this can lead to an issue if a team is suddenly “back in the game”, but that team was unable to make roster moves the prior day. If a stat correction changes a playoff matchup at the last minute, then any impacted team will be given the opportunity to make a last minute roster move, if needed. The Commissioner will attempt to ensure that this provision is enabled as fairly as possible under the circumstances.
During the playoffs, once the first game of the week has started, no stat corrections will be allowed thereafter.
Playoffs 8 teams, single elimination The 8 teams will be those with the top 6 W/L records plus the two other teams with the most points The top four seeds will be based on W/L record (including applicable tiebreakers) Seeds 5-8 will be based on total points for the other four playoff teams Teams with equivalent W/L records are ranked based on head-to-head first (regardless of the number of teams tied), then total points. Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)
Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.
Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.
If a playoff game ends in a tie score, the team with the better seed shall advance.
Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

Just read above that the clock never paused during the time it should have, but that mistake was caused because it was paused for this team the last time they missed a pick. Which begs the question, why even have a clock if we are going to pause it when people miss their pick? Even though this team is averaging 4 hours per pick through 7 picks, I probably wouldn't mind so much because I have played with both Farn and Wiggs for years, but we have 9 managers averaging over an hour per pick with five of those managers averaging 3-7 hours per pick. That is insane. We started out fast, but have been passed by the RIFC (by 2+ rounds) and the AA league who both started drafting after us. A couple of you need to step your draft game up.

TB, the clock was paused yesterday when I posted from work asking to pick a guy who had been picked. My mistake. But..... I did not take more than 6hrs with the repick. When I came back to the board and saw my mistake I made another pick, which still fell under the 6hr window. So no, we didn't go over the timeslot.
That said, if you don't care that wiggs gets a chance to draft as many of his players as possible I'm sorry. I'm trying to be fair. Considering I went to bed and it wasn't my pick, and then I timed out while sleeping, which wasn't fair, and then had 2 picks made after that by someone who didn't recognize the clock error, I'd say I'm being pretty fair by saying nothing.
All I'm asking for is a little consideration for wiggs. Its early on a Saturday (730am where I live) so I don't think its too much to ask to wait another hour and see if wiggs, who may be effected by the hurricane, appears and has some input.

Read the commish email. Let's get real. These are the managers that need to pick up their draft pace:
Franchise Avg. Wait Time Donkey Hunters 2 hours, 59 minutes Slackjawed Yokels 6 hours, 19 minutes Panchovians 1 hour, 31 minutes Frick's IR List 1 hour, 24 minutes 3 and Out 5 hours, 30 minutes twilson's Milchian Magicians 4 hours, 26 minutes supernovas 4 hours, 41 minutes
Hell, let's get even more real. Five of the seven managers resonsible for slowing this draft down to a snails pace aren't even using the queue system.
Donkey Hunters- currently 3+ hours in to his draft pick Frick's IR List - no queue pending 3 and Out - no queue pending twilson's Milchian Magicians - no queue pending supernovas - no queue pending
We are now four full rounds behind the RIFC and we were ahead of them 2 days ago.

Home now and have a good buzz. Slackjawed Yokel, I just copied what was available, but I am with you. The 2 days it took you to select Charles really screws your average draft time up. I did see that you had been using queues since and had continued to drop your ADT down quite a bit.
FWIW, if we all use our 6 hours we'd get 4 picks in a day. While some people might think they are entitled to using the full clock every pick it's more like a fall-back plan for when you are busy as shit and just can't pick right away every now and then.

Before the skipped pick yesterday and not counting the 24 hours to take Adrian Peterson, I have made 6 of my 7 picks by autodraft and the one I did not make that way took 13 minutes.
In fact up until the point you made your post I would guess I was probably one of the fastest drafters out there and was obviously using the queue system.

The good news is the new S&W M&P 15-22 that I bought is accurate, works perfectly, the ammo is dirt cheap, and it is fun as hell to shoot. Great addition to my collection.

I put a red dot sight on the Neos and it's unreal how accurate it is. Nothing like throwing a can out in front of you and seeing how far you can move it back with just 11 rounds. Good times. I'm lucky to hit a can once with my .40

ID: 031811922 Fri, Sep 02, 2011, 19:42
Yeah, WR situation for sure. There is also a good chance Schilens or Hagans, both undrafted, turn out to be two of the higher producing WR from that squad instead of anyone drafted.
1 QB Campbell (bye week QB) 1 Kicker Seabass (starter) 1 TE Boss (bye week/possible starts) 1 LB McClain (starter) 1 DL Shaughnessy (starter) 2 DB Branch & Huff (starters) 3 RB McFadden (starter), Bush (RB3/bye week), Jones (dark horse if McFadden gets hurt - potential) 4 WR Ford (starter), Moore (PR & camp sensation - potential), DHB (dark horse to produce 3rd season), Murphy (been most consistent WR last couple seasons, guessing play time drops with Moore, Hagan, and Schilens).
Wouldn't be surprised to see the already mentioned Schilens or Hagan on rosters this season, along with Houston, Kelly, or Seymour (if someone needs some DL for a week or two), Wimbley (if he starts racking up sacks again), and one of our young DB's if Routt or Johnson get hurt. Them young guys can't cover yet so will get picked on a lot if called into action which will mean lots of tackles and some PD. Van Dyke (probable CB3), Chekwa (raw) , McFadden (raw - expecting he gets cut), Sterling Moore (may be best of the bunch but was undrafted so no idea if he makes team), and Ware.

I just dropped Jacquizz Rodgers to pick up Antoine Bethea, who I originally dropped to pick up and start Burnett. I didn't plan on carrying more than two DB all year and I am pretty damn sure I set and triple-checked all my line-ups. I just took a screen-shot of my starting line-up confirmation this time.
I have never been in a league that doesnt allow you to submit a line up if you are missing a guy. I know you couldnt if you had an extra.

wiggs: RIFC changed its rules (post 160) this year to allow incomplete lineups. If those rules apply here, as I think they are supposed to, you should get your points if the commish can manage to convince the game platform.
According to what I see on the site you did not submit your first lineup until after the Green Bay - New Orleans game started - Thu Sep 8 11:28:32 p.m. ET 2011 according to the system. Dalton, Andy CIN QB, Gore, Frank SFO RB, Green-Ellis, BenJarvus NEP RB, Branch, Deion NEP WR, Britt, Kenny TEN WR, Jackson, Vincent SDC WR, Gonzalez, Tony ATL TE, Buehler, David DAL PK, Peppers, Julius CHI DE, Beason, Jon CAR LB, James, Bradie DAL LB, McClain, Rolando OAK LB, Bailey, Champ DEN CB
Thu Sep 8 11:30:26 p.m. ET 2011 you submitted an invalid roster because you had selected 4 WR (Max 3).
Thu Sep 8 11:31:51 p.m. ET 2011 you submitted another invalid roster because you had selected 4 WR (Max 3)
Fri Sep 9 12:00:05 a.m. ET 2011 you submitted a valid lineup - Dalton, Andy CIN QB, Gore, Frank SFO RB, Green-Ellis, BenJarvus NEP RB, Branch, Deion NEP WR, Britt, Kenny TEN WR, Jackson, Vincent SDC WR, Gonzalez, Tony ATL TE, Buehler, David DAL PK, Peppers, Julius CHI DE, Suggs, Terrell BAL DE, Beason, Jon CAR LB, James, Bradie DAL LB, McClain, Rolando OAK LB, Bailey, Champ DEN CB, Godfrey, Charles CAR S
A lineup of only 1 DB would not be invalid and I do not see anything to indicate that you submitted a lineup with only 1 DB. The only lineups the site said were invalid included 4 WR - the site allows a 'short' lineup but will not allow a 'over max' lineup but again I do not think that was the case in this instance.
If something does not match some information you have let me know.
I believe the 1st line up I submitted was on Wednesday and the message I got said something like you must start 7 defensive players or something like that. Then I messed with putting in 4 lbs and it still didnt work. Finally I thought it went through, but apparently not. Its ok. I will not argue this because it was probably something that I did wrong. I am not use to this site. Thanks

jseth, I am guessing I submitted the line-up with Bethea and then after hearing early injury reports and replacing him with Burnett I either didn't submit a new line-up or didn't make sure he had the check mark when I tried to resubmit it. It's irks me because I rechecked every one of my rosters one more time Wednesday night to make sure they were all valid and don't know how I missed it.
Terrible start for me, but no obvious grabs with the #2 waiver pick. If anyone has any odeas, let me know -- better for you that the guy goes to me than to some better team!

I'm sorry Nerf, I was positive that it was going to be in your position though. I checked the box scores before heading to bed and between the time that I checked and the time I got the game back on, Brady threw is 99 yard TD pass to Welker. I fell asleep certain that I was going to lose despite being at 160. Tough loss, but we do have the final 2 play-off spots going to points scored, not record to help prevent someone from having a string of bad luck.
Yeah that's what I kept telling myself last year, except I was 6th in scoring last year (with an 8-18 record) and the two teams who took the 7th and 8th spots were also top 5 in scoring. I think I lost 8th by 3 points.
So yeah, it's unlikely that will happen again, but it has happened.
I wonder how many teams who have Brady lost last week?

In RG14 it was off in a couple places as well. I fixed it in the Custom Waiver Order Setup, but then I went to Waiver Request Setup and had to make some changes:
Waiver Request Sort Order - I had to change it to Each round of waivers is the same order as the first round. Waiver Wire Sort - W/L is first and I changed second to Total Points Scored (shifting H2H to third).
I did not think my first move was going to be getting a new kicker...

wow I went from 133 to 146 since last night. qb hits mostly, I guess. it looks like if a game is remotely close, you'll never know the winner til late in the week.
Guru has been setting the waivers, but I think it is correct at the site.
W/L records plus applicable tie-breakers...head to head, then points
So...4 teams at 1-3 with wheatfarmers beating juking safety in the only head to head match-up and juking safety scoring more points than the other 2...

I just reversed the posted standings. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head, which creates some unusual effects midseason - but we have no rule that says that waivers should use a different tiebreaker criteria.
So while there is a case to be made that TB's approach makes more intuitive sense (he is strictly using points as the tiebreaker), that's not what our current rule states.
Perhaps this is something to review as a rule adjustment next year. I was actually hoping that the HTH tiebreaker would go away this year, but when put to a vote, it was retained.
I can't say I ever liked the HTH rule. It could get really complicated down the stretch. And also I seem to remember it not being applicable in a multiple team tie-breaking situation, although I think we changed that cumulative HTH record.

Not sure how H2H applies when we are talking multiple teams with the same record who haven't all played each other.

This is crazy. I didn't get any waiver requested either week. Had a long list too. The ones I requested weren't even at the top of the points scored, projections or anything. Winning that first week might actually screw me for the rest of the season.

A more sensible rule would be to have total points be the tiebreaker for standings for waiver purposes, using HTH only when it comes to figure out the end-of-season standings and playoffs. Especially if it is not possible to program our platform to set waiver order according to our rules. Is this not possible? Even Fantrax could do that and it was the worst mess of a fantasy platform imaginable.

Ref, how long was your list? I just counted and only seven people were taken in the first "round" of waivers. Two were taken in the second round, and then one each in the third and fourth rounds for a total of 11 waiver claims. Are you sure you are setting the claims up correctly?

Yes. Can't remember how many I had last week, but had 3 or 4 this week. None made it to me. I had them set up in each round and in the right priority. It's just that they were snapped up with higher priorities.
Ref- did you set up your 1st round queue with all 4 guys, then set up your 2nd round queue with 3 and so on or did you do 1 player in each round. I made that mistake last season. Not sure if that makes sense, but if it didnt email me and I will see if I can help you more.

Here's the way you do it. Let's say you are interested in acquiring Able, Baker, Charlie and Denver in that order. For simplicity sake we'll assume that the firs of preference player you're going to drop is Mr. I.R. no matter whom you pick up is Mr. I.R.
ROUND 1:
Add Able; DROP Mr I.R. Add Baker: DROP Mr I.R. Add Charlie; DROP Mr I.R. Add Denver; DROP Mr I.R. -------------------------
Hopefully you'll get one of these players, the highest of your preferences available when your turn comes up. But you don't know which one. What you know is that in Round 2 the only one of these players you know can't still be available is Able, because either you got him or someone else did. So you remove him from the top of the list and set up Round 2. We'll assume that in Round 2, who you drop will depend on the position of the player you pick up; it gets a little more complicated.
ROUND 2
ADD Baker; DROP WR5 ADD Charlie; DROP WR5 ADD Denver; DROP IDP7
You complete the process in the same manner, win Round 3 having 2 requests, for Charlie and Denver; and in Round 4 one request, for Denver.
This IMO is the way up-to-date platforms do it, and is much better than, say, CBS, where you have to make waiver requests guessing who other managers are going to take beflore you (because only one ADD request can be made for each player you are willing to DROP.)

Denarius Moore made a couple great grabs last night. It's extra special when the player is on both your favorite team and your fantasy team and has a game like that.
The silver lining for your team is that a trade with Holt for Bush didn't work out and at the last minute I decided to go ahead and stick with Fred Jackson over Bush this week.

Almost playoff time - Rules Reminder - Take Note
8 teams Top 6 W/L records are seeded 1-6 Top remaining total points are seeded 7-8 Teams with equivalent W/L records are seeded based on head-to-head first (regardless of the number of teams), then total points. Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)
All teams should be preparing their rosters for the postseason during this week given the limitations on add/drops.
Following the final regular season game, claiming priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.
If a playoff game ends in a tie score, the team with the better seed shall advance.
Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket.

Sorry for the sloppy table. Basically, Holt and I are in.
TB is in with a win or a loss by Donkey Hunters, Supernovas, or Vampireweekend.
Juking Safety is in with 2 wins and 2 losses by Donkey Hunters, Supernovas, or Vampireweekend.
The H2H picture for the 5th and 6th slots are Donkey Hunter, Supernovas. Vampireweekend is on the outside looking in. If TB or Juking Safety end up tied, it was going to take more time then I wanted to put into it trying to figure out who was in.
The 7th and 8th spots go by points. So Slackjawed Yokels and Twilson get in, but both than TB, so TB is most likely in. Juking Safety and Vampireweekend need to get in on record or they are likely out.
Nerferherders has a chance of grabbing the 7th or 8th spot as they are with 16 points of Slackjawed Yokels.
Good luck to everyone! And even more luck trying to figure out your specific play-off scenario!

So here is how I see it...
For the Championship bracket, the teams will be the top 6 in the standings plus the other two teams with the highest point totals.
Plus... Slackjawed Twilson - who takes the last spot narrowly beating out Nerf...those honeymoons will kill ya every time...
The top 4 teams will be seeded 1-4.
The other four teams will be seeded based on total points giving us...
Slackjawed Twilson Juking Super
I will perform a reset of the custom waiver order. The top 8 teams are ordered by seed, 1-8 (the top seed has the top waiver priority). They will not reset again.
Remember - No team can add any QB, RB, or WR.
Teams who are not still alive in the Championship bracket can't make any add/drop transactions.
For the rest of us...I will be setting up a Consolation bracket.
If anything does not look right, please let me know...

Last year I missed the 8th spot by three points, this year by 28 points. At least I was 13-13 this year, which should be enough to stay in AAA. Grats to the three at the top for moving on!
Just not enough games started by my top players this season. I only have two players out of my top 8 picks that played all 13 games this season. Best, Maclin, Moss, and Harrison missed significant time, and Grant was not worth even drafting, much less drafting 4th. The key to winning fantasy football is to have your top 5 picks healthy and producing. It just didnt happen for me.

I could have won my game, I hate Miles Austin for being out for 4 weeks, being questionable and then getting 12 points. Hard to believe that Big Ben had more points on 1.5 legs then Flacco did against the Colts. Actually, that isn't that surprising. And Polamalu having enough playing and putting up enough points to make it close after being questionable with a concussion. Not sure why I hesitated with a Steeler player with a concussion, never stopped Pittsburg before.
