I think everyone was looking at Datsyuk, but kept holding off because of the contract. Otherwise, he would have been gone a few rounds ago. I was planning on grabbing him probably around my next time through if he was still available. At that point, the risk would have been worth it. Not sure about quite this early, but if he comes back, it'll surely be worth it.

yeah...I am pretty much at the point where I am swearing after every pick, thinking...I should have gotten him.

Datsyuk...a gamble, but I can't see him staying in Russia for an entire season. Could be a great steal

Isles...

I think as long as you are positive you have the correct spelling, and know that the player isn't taken, then go ahead and pick him.

But it doesn't hurt to click on those yahoo links underneath the stop sign to make absolutely sure.

I am heading out at 4:30...anyone around that I can leave a 2 man queue with in case Dynastie hasn't picked by then?

isles72, I never said you couldn't continue through the STOP sign. I said "Pay attention to the stop sign."

In other words, if you get the STOP sign, read the text below before just clicking ahead. If, after reading the text, you KNOW you have the right player, then click to pick them. Otherwise, make the necessary adjustment. And, with players who should be listed by Yahoo, be sure the spelling is the same as what Yahoo has. It keeps us all on the same page and helps the system work as best as it can (i.e. - the system wouldn't have recognized that Ruutu had been picked since his name was Rutuu).

Wolfer won't like this news:

Elias will start the season on injured reserve and will miss at least New Jersey's first ten regular-season games.

''I can't put a date on (a return),'' Elias told the Star-Ledger. ''If I do too much, I'll get a pain in the liver area. It expands and pushes on your pancreas.''.

Usually we get the "one game at a time..." line but that's great just a great quote.

Yeah, Datsyuk is definitely a risk. I reasoned out for myself that the talent pool is getting low enough to take a risk in round 9. Rotowire explained yesterday that the 'contracts' that Datsyuk 'signed' weren't even registered with the league, and that Datsyuk is taking one more week to decide if he's coming back to Detroit. That perpetual one week that has lasted a month? I can hope for the best. With the speed waivers/free-agents should move during the first few weeks, I figured the risk should be taken.

peace,
mMoses

That's funny, i did the same thing after you picked Zherdev @ 9.08. I thought for sure he was good for another couple of rounds... Guess i was wrong.

If I did everything right we now have a timer which will start at 9:00 am EST this morning. It will stop at 11:00 Pm EST. It is paused during the weekend.

RotoWire said that he'll be out ten games as well, but noted that his body will probably be a bit weak so that he will have to work himself back into game shape.

''If I do too much, I'll get a pain in the liver area. It expands and pushes on your pancreas.'' Sounds like an old man, there!

Yeah--all the old guys are retiring! I wonder if they held off announcing before because of some leverage in negotiating during the lockout. Or maybe some guys are just realizing they won't get back into shape after the layoff.

I think its also because not many "officially" retired last year. Also, with having a whole season off, maybe some of them realized that they can have a life without hockey.

I knew he was with atlanta but if you look in the yahoo database they have him listed with Ott. I tried both ways and got the red flag with each.

Sorry for the delay earlier today everyone. Mondays and Thursdays are my long days for school, so I'll try to have queues ready. I thought I would be able to pick before I took off this morning but apparently my ISP decided that was a good time to rework their network in my area... Just super! ;)

I was surprised to see just how few shots Morrow takes though. My 2nd pick in Boyle actually had more shots in 03/04 then him.

His average G/A production is only so-so too, but I desperately needed a decent +/- and PIM dude.

When it says "Draft Paused" under Time Remaining, does it mean that the clock is off for the time being, or that the draft has actually been paused with no picking allowed?

WOW! Emery before (censoring myself)! Granted, Hasek isn't exactly Mr. Healthy, but I have to believe that Emery would have still been on the board 2, 3, or even 5 rounds later.

I'll uncensor the name once he's picked.
