Jeez it's been a long time since we've had some TSN hockey....but I'm ready and loaded my team into the ESDNHL for the best competition out there.
I think I'm going with an on time start. I haven't really looked at anything yet, but for some reason I want to start a team on time with Mario.
Going with late teams is never a real bad idea, and it saves some time on draft preparation, but I personally like the idea of going on time this year.
Speaking of Mario, I just don't see how he is not going to be huge coming right out of the gate. More open ice, or even better for him in this stage of his career, more PP time. If Mario is clicking out his usual over 2 points/game, he is going to be a must have.
I haven't really looked into much in terms of players themselves, but I'm likely going to go with the cheap goalies. I'm going to have to sacrifice somewhere to get Mario. Mario could easily start this year as he did the first 2 months of the 2002-2003 season, when he was a must have. |

Ah yes of course Seabrook and Vorbiev have crappy schedules coming up. But is there really any better options at defensemen and forward?

Wow, you have to be kidding me.
Horcoff hurt his shoulder tonight.
Word on the street is it's 7-10 days.
What to do..

How long is Thornton out for? Horcoff>Bergeron could be a nice move..
That or Straka perhaps..

Good eye Ira, none of the sites I checked even note this - had to check the game notes to even hear about this.

Needed to move out of McCarty as well since he's now in gravity mode. Even though I think Horcoff will make plenty of cash today since he's not on an official injury list, I needed to make a move on him to afford McCarty -> Jagr, so I went Horcoff -> Lupul to take advantage of ANA's good sched the next 2 weeks.
5 trades left and I'll need to move out of Prospal after B2B starting today - I'm glad I have a couple days to think about that move. Planning on moving Jagr after Thursday's freeze into Heatley.

I just don't see now I can choose Lupul over Bergeron...
Bergeron's linemates are Samsonov and Glen Murray... Lupul's linemates are Rob Niedermayer and Selanne/Perry..
The only plus with getting Lupul is that I can get that extra money from Horcoff before Lupuls next game, because I'd have to trade for Bergeron tonight.

Well, starting today Pittsburgh has 14 games in the next 28 days - only Calgary plays that many in that time span. I hated to move Morrison after the game he had Tuesday night but Spezza is already moving up as well, so Morrison -> Crosby and Lupul -> Spezza today for me.
Still plan to move into Heatley tomorrow from Jagr along with about 1000 other owners I would bet.
What's everyone else doing?

Jagr -> Alfredsson Doan -> Heatley Horton -> Spezza Naslund -> Gagne Williams -> Forsberg Lilja -> Desjardins
First four tomorrow, next two on the 22nd. All solid long-term holds, and I'll be left with 3 trades to handle injuries and Legace -> Grahame at some point.

I am still two weeks from picking up pittsburgh players, will pick them up for the 8 in 14. I think most managers are moving to ottawa players, and the smarter ones are including some flyers.
I think most would find it hard to obtain alffie, heatly, spezza, gagne, and forsberg all on one team.

Hossa -> Gagne Jagr -> Heatley Nagy -> Alfredsson Nylander -> Spezza
Probably in that order. That'll leave me with 2 trades until next week, and i may end up using one to bring in Grahame before the trade week is out...

Similar gameplan to Rogue. We've been planning for "10/21" for 2 weeks now. This has always been the time where we were going to make a move.

What bothers me is that some of these players are already being purchased 2 days in advance. Thus many of us will be purchasing some of these players at a slightly higher price than anticipated.
I can't make any trades yet. 10 of 12 players on my roster are scheduled to play tonight.

Agree.
I've got a pretty full roster tonight as well. Can we maybe try and post updates of the Fla/Ott game here? Is it going to be postponed and rescheduled? That would put a thorn in my big plans.

I will be trading for those players tomorow also, i'll wait. Iwas surprised to see some of the players already gaining in price and that are playing in two days (ott).....!

From a points perspective if Ottawa doesn't play the FLA game, it could hurt. From a money perspective, I think the lemmings will not be effected.

I agree, a no game for them would really screw some things up. I'd consider not getting Senators if that was the case. I wish we knew if they'd play or not.

If they don't play you lose maybe 50-100 points per player. But whether they play or not, you are almost gauarnteed 500k over the course of a couple days from each (ott) player.

Kobesew ----> Svatos yesterday Comrie ----> Spezza today Jagr -----> Heatley tomorrow Amonte -----> Gagne tomorrow Jokinen -----> Lang tomorrow Nylander -----> Datsyuk tomorrow Sedin -----> Zetterberg tomorrow Visnovsky -----> Reddon tomorrow Luongo ------> Hasek tomorrow
With one more trade in the bank, I traded for Spezza on all all 8 of my teams today. His price went up 50k yesterday before the tradaholics got their trades. It should go up at least 100k tonight maybe more.

I was wondering about that too, Ira. 4 of the 5 are on the road and they face Belfour, Theodore, Hasek, Cam Ward, and Hasek. Granted, they should score a healthy amount on Carolina and Toronto, plus perhaps Montreal, but I'm not excited by the potential there. Plus the Flyers I like cost more than I've got right now.
I think the ESDNHL is getting ready to make its move back to the top of the league standings.

Hasek is in full Hasek mode already. I don't know how he does it. It's like watching Napoleon Dynamite do his dance routine. It's ugly but he gets the job done.
Somethings gotta give-there's no way he can keep it up.
10 to 1 it'll be his groin.

I like phillies 4 + week schedule, they are long term holds for me, probably through the 1 in 4. I am banking trades right now, I can't seem to locate the points right now, and money is ho hum.
Phillies long term schedule is better then Ottawa, however I believe OTT players will recieve more $.

Agree about Philly, it's just slightly above average. The thing about it for me at least is just simply how good the Philly players "seem" to be. Forsberg is Forsberg, and if healthy, should be the best center. As for Gagne, playing with Forsberg is giving him ridiculous numbers at a cheap price.
I've been waiting for a while to finally pick them up, at least now they are available.

Phillies 3 day gap is something to watch, but they play WSH and ATL coming out of it... That's enough for me to hold through, price losses be damned. But well see, Gagne and friends have to be performing well prior ot the gap to be keepers.

Flyers have a great schedule this week, and then I can trade out for the 3-day hole. Maybe something like Forsberg -> ? and then Bergeron -> Forsberg after the gap. Really depends on if his price goes up all that much. Gagne we might have to move if the downward pressure is there.
In any case, Ott and Phi guys have been scoring at will so far. I see no reason to think it can't continue, so I'll hop on.

Hemsky --> Svatos yesterday
Friday Lang--> Spezza Jagr --> Heatley Hossa --> Gagne Pronger --> Redden
Friday or Saturday Lundqvist --> Hasek
That'll leave me with two trades.
Ottawa will bring home the dough for a while (especially Spezza and Heatley, maybe Hasek), Redden and Hasek brings some diversification to my team, which I feel is too largely owned.

Nothing official yet, but I dont think it looks very promising at this point.
I speculate that the best possible prognosis for Gaborik will be at least 7 days. I say this because the Wild have too many players with lockers in St. Paul.
With players coming on and off the IR list the Wild have thus far managed to avoid sending someone down to Houston or running a player through waivers. Gaborik to IR delays that another 7 days and considering this is a nagging groin injury I would say it would be a smart move.
Personally I think they should do an MRI on him to discover the extent of the injury. Will it take a few weeks or a few months? Someone has to hold him back long enough to make sure he is ready to return ...

Hopefully all the lemmings wouldn't know about this, with Min having an off day today. I hope not to see a big drop till Wednsday morning, after they see him not playing Tuesday. I had to use my last trade yesterday, because I thought that Svatos was going to fall hard. and I went Svatos-->Gaborik with my last trade. Also with Gaborik getting hurt on Sunday night most ppl were watch football and the World Series. At least I can hope, Right?

Svatos > Gaborik was the right trade. Svatos did fall hard, it just sucks what happened to Gaborik. Gotta just wait and hope there I guess. Kovalev might not be too bad. Also a Leaf could be solid.

Well its not looking to bad, At least that what I think. this is how I see it. 292 people have Gaborik. 168 Picked him up yesterday. I think there is a lot of owners out there with 0 trades and Gaborik, and there is a lot of owners out there who will log on and see Gaborik on the pricer mover list, and see that he got 2 goals, and are stuip enough to pick him up today. If we want to compair his numbers with Jagr, he still has 687, and lost 488 owners. if owners own both of these guys they may drop Jagr just because they lost so much $$$, and they have no clue about Gaborik.

Expect them to move into a combination of Heatley, Zetterberg and Gagne. I suspect Heatley could move the most since Zetterberg and Gagne have already moved a lot. But it really depends on which players teams already have and why I said a combination

Considering I already had Heatley, Zetterberg and Gagne ... I would be a happy camper if people flip Gaborik into one of them. Me, Im going Kovalev for good long term schedule.
Ive identified, for myself, an opportunity to step up to Jagr at a point where Gagne's schedule drops off. This injury/trade is going to be made right now to guarantee I have enough $$ for the Gagne to Jagr move.
PS. with the current wild roster situation if Gaborik is expected to miss roughly 7 games ... I can fully expect them to toss him on IR to avoid an impending roster problem with (Nazarov, Boogaard, Wanvig, Foy, Robitaille, and Koivu) When Koivu returns someone gets waived.
Unless they send Koivu to Houston for conditioning to avoid the problem; which isnt beyond the realm of possibilitiy.
