Right now I have Ilya > Gagne pegged for the 12th FWIW, hopefully.

Darn, I figured people would be talking about dumping Gaborik. Just can't see doing it on a week that he plays Pittsburgh, Philly with their backup goalie, and then Buffalo.
If Gagne was playing with Forsberg still I could see it, but as it is, I just don't know.

no games will be played in the nhl between 2/13 and 2/27 because of the olympics. during that time there are 2 wednesdays (aka trade refreshes). i read the game rules but was unsure if we will receive 10 trades over that period. does anyone know for sure? if so, i/we think i/we can be much more agressive with our trades. not only that, but just 2 days later (3/1) comes another refresh.

Gotta choose between Gagne and Gionta today. I'm leaning toward Gionta because he is less owned and has two extra games in the next 2 weeks.

With Foppa out, I don't see a huge reason to get Gagne just yet....the 2 extra games for Gionta probably make him worth it here. I'm going to get Gagne, just not yet.....

Leaning towards holding Gaborik for now... There's still no way I could possibly make room for Gionta even if I wanted to (I don't). But different strokes for different folks etc. etc., now watch him go for b2b hat-tricks. :O)

Just my luck..
Eric Desjardins left the game and won't be returning because of a 'partial shoulder seperation'

I have desjardins on all three teams, one of which is tradeless...two of three had him before this injury, and one had him for the one freakin period before his frail buttocks got hurt. Nice one.
I'm moving him to Chara on one team and anyone who is not likely to get hurt on the other.

My teams trade situation is going to be dire almost immediately after the refresh... Call it poor trade management or just plain bad luck, but i may have to eat significant losses next week on at least one LA King forward and potentially both of my Thrasher players.
Not pleased.

Woohoo! 156 TSNP for Niitty, finally got my 1st goalie shutout of the year. Needed that like you wouldn't believe...
Next week, I might just end up holding both my LA forwards. (Demitra/Frolov) They do have a 3-day break, but their schedule picks right back up again after that. Its not a pts or schedule move imho, just a money-saving one because everyone will sell for the 3-day break. At this point I'm probably leaning sell one/hold one, but we'll see. My trade situation has been crap for weeks, I'd really like to change that.

Yikes. This has to be one of the worst weeks I can remember for me in this game. Had both Pitkanen and Desjardins. Plus of course 2 LA forwards and 2 ATL forwards who did squat and lost money.
One positive note... on my Basic team I picked up Niittymaki (sp?) from Gerber on the weekend, pretty happy with tonight's result... wish I'd picked him up on my ultimate teams! Although his run will be shorter than I'd hoped, since Esche will be back soon.

97: I considered that same move myself! In the end I chickened out because I just haven't had luck with my just-back-from-injury guys. Went instead to someone who's in gravity - Zidlicky. But he's been pretty consistent lately and he's got a wicked schedule right through until the first week of January. Hopefully some other managers will see the potential upside with him and pick him up so he escapes gravity.

...bad news Joelis. Tyra Banks calls it a career after her 3rd and final walk down the runway.
Time to trade out of her.
Heidi Klum has the experience but being married to a Seal worries me.
I'm thinking more about the rookie Izabel Goulart. That star is on the rise.

Desj -> Zidlicky for me. Leaves me just enough for Ottawa buy day and Zid's schedule looks good. And here I was thinking a few days ago that maybe I had saved too many trades to be useful. Trade hoarders of the world unite - our time has come!

You and me both Beezer, you and me both. I actually love it when highly owned players get injured (even though I have them). Those fools near the top who always use their trades by thursday or friday are getting what they deserve.

on my ultimate teams I have trades (at least 4 on each team) so I'm good there despite having both Pitkanen and Desjardins. On my basic team, for the first time all year, I used up all my trades on Saturday. Of course the only time that ever happens is the time that 2 of my guys get injured within 1 day of each other; I have both Pitkanen and Desjardins so I'll be out of trades the first day of next week. Oi!
Then I have to hope and pray that no one gets hurt, and that my Saturday acquisition, Niittymaki, does well enough to keep playing for another week even if Weekes comes back. Ugh I just realized, I have Jagr on that team too. Whoa am I ever in trouble on that one. Could take a long time to recover there.
Thank god I played more conservatively in ultimate.

Woohoo, Gaborik didn't go down nearly as much as I feared. Looks like I'll be OK to keep him against 3 soft teams this week. Actually make that 2 I guess... Niitty is maybe not so soft. :)

One team, turgeon, forsberg, pitkanen, desjardins and legace = 5 injury-related trades used in last 2 weeks. Other team = same except for turgeon.
This has truly ficked me up royally!

118, Like I said, people have bigger fish to fry. It's hard to trade a guy like Gaborik when players are dropping like flies.
I may move Ilya today. He has flat out sucked lately, and he has a 2 day hole now....have plenty of time to think about it.

I really want the ATL vs Blue Jackets game. Dammit! I feel that most of the trading that is going on is in frustration rather then looking at schedules and matchups. I would trade my entire team right now but my existing players are just as likely to produce points as anyone.

Ilya pisses me off, I'm tired of eating so many money losers. The entire situation has gone to hell because I had originally planned on ATL > PHI. Now that doesn't work because Foppa is such a freaking wild card. Center sucks, so Savard isn't going to be as much of a risk as Ilya in terms of money loss.....there are no centers I want right now anyways.
Ilya > Sully > Nagy for me.

Because he likes to win auto divisions......wheras I, think I can win ESDNHL every year. ;)
Seriously, he always just plays in the autos, that's just his thing. I just go with 1 team and put it in the big divsion because the competition outweighs the auto division prize.

Hmmmm I have a few mil left in the bank. Was gonna use it for Gerber ---> Hasek. Or I could also use it to upgrade Desjardan and possibly Frolov ---> Heatley.
What do you guys think?

he's so pricey...
I dont know if I want to move to him for the schedule, or get a cheapie in Meszaros for the long-term..

Woohoo Zidlicky with 1G, 1A already through 1 period of play. I was worried about him because he was in gravity when I picked him up but he made money today and from the points he's getting tonight, he should make more tomorrow.
In a sense though I'd almost be happier if the bare minimum of managers needed to avoid gravity picked him up... that way his price would be stable and I could keep him without any worries of RV loss through the first week of January.

Nice pickup on Zidlicky guys. I didn't do any moves at this time. I am going to suck up the RV loses and hope the tide turns. When I don't see any options, I figure I might as well save trades. Gaborik and Ilya need to turn there games around sometime. Moving Jagr into SENS and nylander in Spezza.

I wasn't expecting anything like Zidlicky's performance tonight, that's for sure. I was just hoping for a nice steady 30-35 TSNP/game like he's been doing for awhile. He got almost that from penalties alone tonight. :D
But yeah he's looking good, and between today and January 15, Nashville plays 21 games - the most of any team in the NHL, so he could conceivably be a 2 month hold.
I won't go so far as to say the Pitkanen thing was a blessing in disguise, but it sure goes a long way to easing the pain.

went Desjardins => Meszeros with my last trade earlier today. I like the long term hold and prefer the cheap option than the mid-prices one at D for a couple TSNP/G difference. Gives me more cash to play around with my wingers and less volatilty of their price, which doesnt force me to use up trades.

Ditto what urkel said about Zid. I'd love to hold him into 2006 and plan to barring injury, then I can turn him into a top-3 D guy assuming I can keep up a decent RV gain overall until then.
SW called Sullivan and he put up a monster game as well. Too bad Vokoun had a seat tonight but then again with his recent play I can't complain too much.
