0 Subject: November 28 - December 4th Trade thread

Soulman's GMD thread has gotten lambasted by intruders, including myself, so I thought I'd open a thread to discuss, among other things, the merits of holding and selling Lebron.

Holding until further news.

Wow Dave, you got connections! You don't happen to have the chance of getting the King himself to the phone? ;)

Seriously, it's as expected in that there won't be anything definitive before tipoff. So not enough to make me hold. And probably not enough to make the masses of "casual" managers (who make their moves right after checking the boxscores and learning about the injury) undo their trade with which they sold Lebron already.

Agree about the tip off thing. And if one doesn't have the time or inclination to monitor lineups....

This so parallels the early Howard sell off, although there were no health reasons to dump Howard early. I can buy the " he might not be 100%" argument. If you think about it, a game time decision for a sprained finger? I can see a tender ankle, stiff back, or strained groin for wanting to get out and run and jump and see how things feels. But a finger? Come on, tape it to another and get out there.

One thing I can agree on, stud for stud, even swap of games isn't the end all, but Lebron has been above and beyond.

James will play tomorrow and we will all be kicking ourselves for trading out of another triple double.

I'm worried they'll sit him to be safe, he is the franchise. Why not sit him out of a relatively meaningless game and wait for him to fully recover?

I can't get it out of my mind what happened a both three seasons ago and last year. Three years ago Lebron was putting up 70+ consistently much as he is doing now, and then at the end of the game he got hurt. He reentered the game and played well, and said he was playing the next one and it was no big deal. Then he sat it out. And the next one too.

Last year I remember all too painfully they rested him once or twice "just to be safe" under advisory from the team doctors.

Blooki 27: maybe so, but have any of these so-called elite players owned Felton Spencer? EVER?

I rest.

Re: 40

I moved Grant Hill for Danny Fortson 3 seasons ago. Here are their TSNPs in the very next game for each of them:

Hill - 58.5
Fortson - -2.5 (yes that's a negative sign)

I win.

Senator makes a very good point in #39. Lebron's theoretical ability to play does not mean he will actually play. As pointed out we've seen it in the past that the Cavs have Lebron sit out games as a precaution. They want to win in June and not only in November.

I know the injury sounds stupid, but why are they even saying gametime decision then? If it was really nothing at all, you'd think they would just shrug it off. After being burned so many times by hearing that Lebron definitely would play and then watching him DNP, I'm thinking it's more likely he's going to be out. Him losing 200k tonight would not surprise me at all.

Add the fact that those teams that already have KG and no room at the guard spot then again Camby comes into play as he plays tonight and tomorrow. I went to Kobe for two reasons:
Probably leading money gainer from LBJ and schedule and points potential. So Camby is not my first choice on my third team but an option I was kinda narrowed into.
38 Dave R
I might agree he will play tomorrow but if that is true I doubt a 3D.

I think that is when you are not debating moving a day to day player for injuries versus all healthy players and you thinking you need to trade. When injuries are involved I would not apply that rule.

I love how reading how people have decided that LBJ won't play when no one really knows.

If this was a scrub, I would trade him for sure but this is the best player in the game today. If he plays his four games are better than anyone elses 5 games and I save a trade.

If he doesn't play, plenty of options to consider tomorrow.

Something weired happened to my team. I went LeBron to Nash. Afterwards nelson to jaric. And now when i wanted to undo both trades only the last one was shown. So I have Nash in my team and no possibility to undo the trade. Is this wright or a game fault??

in an un-Lebron related note, Boozer is a game-time decision for tomorrow's game. Not to hope he doesn't play or anything, but I really hope he doesn't play...giving AK some room to maneuver and hopefully put up a big game to stay a massive sell off.

Changed my mind and went with Camby. Lets me move Howard to F and I felt it gives me more options with Howard in a few days. I wasn't crazy about any of the C options. I still think Lebron plays tomorrow, but while still trying to build RV, I'm not going to fight the tape, Lebron's market is going down. Only having one team makes it paramount to keep my RV going in the right direction.

Granger>McDyess today
L. Williams>Kirilenko tomorrow
Howard>Marion 12/4

I have a 380K window for the Williams>Kiri move. With Kiri having two days off and Williams playing today, that should be ok, although I do think Williams drops today after last nightt's effort and Kiri will get some buys, despite not playing for those 2 days. How willing are managers going to be to give up points to get Kiri?

yea ... i was guna hold l williams for atleast another week and move Kobe > Kidd tonight
But since he sucked so much last night and he will defintly lose alot being up a million already im going to opt for Kobe > R Jeff
then Willaims to SJax the next day i also figured going more balanced will benefit my team better as we gain RV and won't need cheapie options anymore (except moon and brewer of course!)

isnt that the case with mcdyess too though .... here's an interesting tidbit though > if u take out the 2 games sheed left with an injury he only has 1 other sub 30 game
don't know who else to get as Center as al jefferson's scedule is still spotty even for a 10/4 pickup

I think Kidd is an attractive buy today, but given the tear that Howard is on and his next two opponents, if he is the only route, is that the way to go?

I am also not crazy about Kidd's opponents over the next 5 games. I could easily see Detroit and/or Houston resulting in one of Kidd's 20 something games that are not all that rare.

I will consider a move from Kobe to Kidd, but think that a trade of 2 Howard games for 2 Kidd games is asking to lose points.

I can see a KObe to Kidd trade to raise cash for a possible Howard to Lebron trade for those wanting to conserve trades. I think the Kobe and Kidd points are more equal. Kobe has to go shortly and Kidd gains a game and can be held longer.

It is just amazing to me how quickly people want to move out of a guy that is putting up fantastic fantasy numbers and has not had a real break in his schedule. IMHO, holding Howard has been the best move so far and I'm hoping it continues for the next two games. I'll take the losses and a B2B. I realize that every team is different and his losses could stop a future move, but I can't believe that is the case with every team. I think some of it is bandwagon jumping. And yes, I know I whine about this type of stuff every year, so I see no need to change this year. Let an old guy rant a little:)

"...a trade of 2 Howard games for 2 Kidd games is asking to lose points."

qwert, that's an absolute precise analysis IMHO. A potential blowout vs PHI and a defensive battle vs DET won't let Kidd nearly approach the numbers that Dwight very likely is going to get in the TSNP-fests with the Lakers and the Warriors.

I'm no longer moving Howard for Kidd. I'm going to get Kidd through Garnett instead, and still be able to get the Phoenix guys from Howard after his two games (which I expect to be huge, especially the GS one obviously). The Phoenix gains should offset Howard losses.

I don't see the urgency to trade Dirk. Yes he had 2 bad games in a row but still has a good upcoming schedule is a bound to rebound from low performance. He's also a perfect way back to Howard and Lebron in a week or so.

I already sold him and Daniels....moved Brewer to g and Howard to F will buy center now and then have Howard ready to move into Marion or Jefferson. Lebron with No fingers could outpoint KG, Kobe, and Dirk combined right now. Will cash in earnings on Dirk and for once I will be one to sell before the schedule quits. Maybe I can do better than as of late with this new Lemmings way of thinking?

Then I just did the Undo process....I need to rol into Tuesday with some trades for once. Bite the bullet now and scrap back into it later in the year. I need to bank some serious trades. Only way for me to do that is just NOT trade. I love some of the moves like Kobe to Paul in a few days...Howard to Jefferson other than that I might have to wait on James.

CJ, if you're dropping healthy studs at the beginning of a good schedule just because they had two bad games in a row, it explains to me why you're struggling to keep pace in RV. Be aware that if for whatever reason you decide to bail on Dirk today, it could well be that you trade away his good games for the next guy's bad games. Meaning all you do by this is getting each players' low performances while at the same time needlessly robbing yourself of trades. No lecture, just trying to give helpful advice.

Any 6ers fans out there? What is up with L. Williams. Just curious if there as any explanation for his poor play recently other than he is a back-up and he is young. He has made a lot $ so it may be time to move on tomorrow.
