0 Subject: Weykool's GMD Team (TP5)

Posted by: weykool
- [2842717] Wed, Jan 16, 2008, 17:24

Decided to keep the team the same.
We took 2nd for TP4.
We lost almost 400 to team BW but gaind over 600 on Soulman.
The teams at the bottom of the roster are very strong finishers so I think we are poised to make our move.

Dear Bonehead,
Wish I would have listened to my own advice and bought Josh Smith last night.. The sortablies are suggesting Amare to Deron Williams (swinging Marvin Williams to forward).. Not sure I'm buying that advice or not; but I'm seriously thinking about it!!

Guru, how about Amare to Deron today and Iggy to Lebron on Sunday?

What would that solve?

Under my current plan, from those two slots I get the following games over the next 6 days (price permitting):
2 Iggy games
3 Amare
2 Deron

Under your approach, I'd get
2 Iggy
1 LeBron
3 Deron

So'd I'd swap away 3 Amare games, getting one LBJ and one Deron in return (plus a few extra $ potentially, although I'd be buying LBJ just ahead of his 2 off days.)

If I can't make ends meet next Wednesday (and the issue will probably come down to what LBJ's price does on Monday and Tuesday), then I'll just have to finagle some other spot. Maybe Josh Boone can go to a cheaper option, or JRich could go to Maggette.

Ki, sorry to hear you didn't go Smith. I did take your advice though and took him from Wallace.

Regarding Amare, I have yet to decide. Still wouldn't mind Jamison, although Kobe is also an option. Another option is Camby.

Guru, 3 Amare games (15 day averages 44.2/game = 133 TSNP) are probably worth more than a Lebron (59.6) and a Deron (43.8) by 30TSNP. It probably solves your money problem though!

I hate having to trade a terrific performing guy like Amare early while his schedule is still really good bscause he is gonna loose TSN$$!! I kind of wish price changes were based on the trailing 5 days (like pitchers in basball!) instead of just one day only. The trading module almost penalizes good schedule management!

I would consider an alternative if I thought my preferred plan had no chance to be affordable (without using an extra trade). But in this case, I think I have a shot. Which is why I'm going to take a chance - and why I decided to flip Wallace yesterday, in spite of his uncertainty.

I dont have JRich here but on the teams that I do I am holding.
After today he still has a 4 in 7.
It seems to me at this point in the season holding and finding a player that can be a longer hold is one way to save some trades to take andvantage of some short term trades to gain stud games.

very true, which is part of the reason that aside from Kidd (groan), all my recent pickups where 4+ week holds. I'm hoping to come out of the ASB with more then a few banked trades.

I have 2 options for sunday, but one involves selling JRICH early which is not that exciting, but serves a purpose nonetheless.

1) Rich+Gay->Kobe+AJohnson

2) Amare+Gay->Kobe+AJ

Both options leave me cash for Duncan->Howard

Selling Jrich would "gain" me a game, but I can gain a game from him next week if I sell him for Dirk, so it's not really a factor.

yes but as qwert mentioned, Kleiza is no better the AJ with Mello back. And I like AJ cuz I can just hold him for 7 weeks and forget about that slot. I'm trying to work a full 8 stud rotation with Carter as my first cheapie, so if I spend more, it'll be harder to upgraede guys like Richarson or Amare into Dirk. Even now I'm not sure I'll be able to make that move.

Not sure I would be too worried about Mello coming back.
Kleiza is G/F and his best game was when Mello played 38 mins.
Just from the games I have watched....including when Mello played 38 mins.....it just seems he has stepped up his game.

Man that Kamen DNP really has me second guessing my plans.... I hear people saying Hold Kamen; and from a points standpoint that is probably the right move!! But we are sitting here on Sunday (not a Wednesday!) with the THREE lightest trading days or the week coming up. There will be sellers today; I've got a team with 6 trades banked and down in my division and it only makes sence to use one of my trades there to try to make something happen!!! It only take a few sales on Monday (with another possible DNP??) and Tuesday to start a large selloff!

I've been looking at my team and thinking of trading Tony Parker (my team's ball and chain from the past couple weeks!) to Jamel Crawford and then I have eonough cash to go Kamen to Lebron James! Can get back to Kamen from Duncan early next week or move Duncan with someone else to Dwight Howard? Except that will leave me without Josh Smith? Still just brainstorming for now; all ideas are welcome!!

On second thought... I think it is maybe Kamen to Josh Smith today.... Parker and Duncan become James and somebody else next week... keeps a trade to deal with Kurt Thomas (in case I have too!)... then I'll have to figure out how to get back to Kamen?

Just going to play for the points and let the money take care of itself.
Trading Iggy for Camby.

good JI

Decided to hold Amare and Richardson.

I'm selling Kaman. The late starting time tomorrow leaves you no outs if he sits out. So I'm making a triangle move, and if he is healthy, I'll move Duncan+Amare->Howard+Kaman on wednesday.

WK, I skipped Kleiza. I checked his game log out, and he only has 1 good game with Mello playing, and that could have been a fluke for all I know. I know he has potential, but I'm not too keen on having both my cheapies from the same team.

another situation where i want 3 trades but only have 2

i havent checked my fantasy team for 3 days cause i got lazy so i forgot to trade marion 2 days ago for Jamison ... that kind of worked out for me though as today was a good day to get back on TSN for the Kaman injury

opted to keep Marion since he is alredy low owned now and booted J rich early and Kaman too ( had the same thoughts as Yehosh about his late game start)

picked up Deron Williams for his 2 week spurt and Kenyon Martin has been producing solid (hopefully barring his usual injuries)

i left myself 6 mill in cash to pick up LBJ + D Howard at the refresh

do you guys think D Howard is a good pickup at the refresh (decnet schedule til break but great after) or Camby be better?

picking up Kaman again can be a possibility and leaves me extra cash for an eventual upgrade for boone /tim thomas / or carter

I'm not getting back into Kaman until I know for sure he's back and playing. I was planning on moving to LBJ/Kaman from Duncan/JRich but now I will just go TD to Howard. In another week Kaman should be back and I can move Howard/JRich to LBJ/Kaman. Howard has a 3 to 4 or 4 to 5 game advantage over LBJ anyway. I will hold Wallace until the end and then go into Dirk (probably).

The best alternative is probably Miller, which actually makes moving Richarson->Dirk very easy.

I haven't watched many SAC games lately, so I'm curious, is Millers new ~37-40 tsnp/g production rate a result of all the other injuries? is he just having a good season? he is obviously good value, and despite 3 games next week, the schedule isn't bad. So he may be teh safer choice

3 years ago Miller was a fantasy stud and inexpensive much like Kaman has been this year.
The next season he started off well but I think an injury slowed him down.
He seems to be getting back to the level he was at before the injury.

Interesting times...

I have both Butler and Amare, and 5 trades.

The original plan was to move Amare to LeBron today, and then JRich to Kaman at some point. I didn't plan anything else for this week, so I do have trades available.

After a bit of thinking, it seems my reasonable options include the following:

1. Move Amare to LBJ as planned. Move Butler to Kaman today. (Not quite enough cash to move Butler to Howard). Then move JRich back into Butler later in the week.

2. Move Amare to LBJ as planned. Move Butler to G. Wallace today. Then move JRich/GW back into Butler/Kaman later in the week.

3. Move Butler to LBJ today. Keep Amare for 2 more days, and them move Amare and JRich to Kaman and Butler this week, at whatever times seem appropriate.

Either of options 1 or 3 only use one extra trade vs. the orig plan by doing a Butler/JRich triangle. Option 1 takes a chance on Kaman tonight. I would then still have 2 trades this week for contingencies.

Option 2 uses an extra trade by moving back into GWallace, who will also have to be sold later in the week (or at worst, by next Tuesday). Of course, Wallace is no cinch to remain healthy for the whole week.

I'm kind of leaning toward option 1, as keeping Amare for an extra game (vs. SA, no less) probably costs almost as as much as simply holding Butler. This assumes, of course, the we don't get any early negative news on Kaman this afternoon.

I have:
Duncan
Butler
Stoudemire
Kaman
Camby

And 4 trades.
Will probably do:
Caron to Lebron
TD to Dwight (hold thru the 1 in 4 if I need to)

I could go Amare to Jamison but that leaves me with 1 trade with Camby/Kaman/Josh.

Looking forward to the ASB and the chace to bank a few trades.

and 4 trades. I already have Kobe and James.

Thinking
Amare+TD to Howard and Miller/Kaman

hold Buter and Rich->Dirk on sunday

If I survive the week without more injuries (yeah right) then I'll go Howard->Duncan on tuesday

I will caution everyone that there is still significant evidence that this is my "jinxed" team.

To wit:
1. Moved G Wallace to Butler last week.
2. Moved Kaman to Maggette last week.

Thus, if I move Butler to Kaman today, you should expect Kaman to DNP tonight. Or, if Kaman does play tonight, expect him to DNP on Friday or Saturday.

Forewarned is forearmed!

I think we all had our share of injuries and disappointments lately. Heavily owned guys like Kaman, Wallace, Butler and Kidd have had their impact.

I'm not %100 sure holding Butler is the smartest thing to do. But I can't hold Amare or Duncan past thursday and Jrich as to go this week as well. Selling Butler will leave me tradeless very early and that is a scary thing this time of year. I think I'll suck up his DNP tonight and hope for the best. Am I being stupid holding him?

I suppose I could hold Caron but I have already sucked up the losses from Amare/Kaman and now Camby is losing money.
While my team has stll made money the problem is compared to other teams my RV is not gaining as much and I could find myself falling behind further.

With Butler a big question mark now, you could argue logically that Duncan can in fact be held past Thursday, especially if you're trade challenged. Any $$ losses he incurs will come right back in 4 days, plus he's healthy. On the other hand gambling on holding Butler is an unknown as to how healthy he'll be upon return. If this injury lingers the money you stand to lose on Butler might not be recouped.

my staple moves are Duncan + Marion > LBJ + Howard

that leavs 2 trades with butler on the slot

ok, decided to hold Butler. It's a left hip flexor, so I'm hoping for a game on friday. It was either that or holding Duncan who has a 1 in 6. Butler at least has a chance at an extra game and both will lose lots of RV.

Amare+Duncan to Howard+Miller

If Butler is OK for friday I will go

Richardson->Dirk on sunday and Howard->Duncan on friday

This is the most # of games I could plan for and the only big RV loser is Butler. Hopefully he'll stop dropping by saturday. It's a risk, but sometimes you gotta roll the dice.
