1st day of the season in the books and only 6 teams played, but I'm sure someone out there already have their finger on the eject button for Charlie V. Another egg tonight and > Tyrus Thomas will be massive.

Anyone looking at Joe Johnson or JSmoove? I think they'll gradually pick up buys and then become big price movers once the green hits.

AI to the Pistons for Billups and McDyess. Denver has a good schedule coming up.

If I were a Denver fan I'd be pretty upset. A couple years ago they had a great traditional PG in Andre Miller. They trade him for a legend in Iverson. They throw away Camby, and trade Iverson for another great traditional PG, but who this time is past his prime. Plus his contract is huge and has three more years on it while Iverson only has one, so it can't really be said this is a rebuilding move.

By looking at all the risky cheapies out there, it seems to me that if people are looking for a cheap guard, J.R. Smith is a great option. Denver's schedule gets ridiculously good starting Wednesday, and there would be no need to trade him until December 7th. The guy is averaging 28 TSNP/game and played almost 30 minutes even after Anthony came back last game from his suspension. Add to this the fact that he has gone up 110,000 the last two nights and he seems like a no brainer to me.....

JR Smith is one of John Hollinger's candidates for most improved player this season; some people love Hollinger and some hate him, but he's provided some great sleepers for me over the years.

My team is terrible this year. I've already burned three trades (Arthur for Barnes, Robinson for Ridnour, Chalmers for Durant). I wish I'd picked up Jason Thompson instead of Arthur.

Leaving me with

Kevin Martin
Robinson
J.R. Smith
Chalmers

Lebron
Arthur
Chandler
Salmons

Hawes
Amare

5.77 million in cash

I really don't like Martin's production for 6.5 million, but he has a great schedule, so I'll probably ignore him for now.

Lebron is really underproducing for his 12 million pricetag. My original plan was to trade him for Boozer on the 9th, but now I'm considering trading him for Yao tonight, which would allow me to trade Arthur for Boozer tomorrow.

I'd really like to get Howard as well, but that would mean I'd either have to skip Boozer or trade Martin as well. I could trade Arthur for Thompson today, Lebron for Howard on the 6th and then trade Martin for Boozer (Salmons to guard).

Do anyone have any strong opinions:

A. Lebron, Arthur for Boozer, Yao
B. Lebron, Martin, Arthur for Boozer, Howard, Jason Thompson
C. Hold everyone and save your trades

Looking at my slightly neglected team last night I noticed the option of Thompson as a move from Arthur, but you have to figure that Miller's return is going to impact both Hawes and Thompson to some extent.

I'm sure you're aware of the rumors that Hawes and Miller might play together, but even if that were to come to pass it's not hard to envision a drop in Thompson's PT... Curious to read what others take on this situation is...

Yea i wold be war of having both hawes and thompson when miller comes back. Likely one gets squeezed out and both get reduced not that I have any inside info.

FOr people with azubuike or arthur, do we need to move them? seems they are set to lose money. And if you move them where are you looking? Is Ridnour potentially an option? likely the best schedule and even cheaper now then he was to start

Well I have both and one trade, so Im trying to figure out which one to drop today.
Which one will bleed less is the real question here.
Looking at JR I guess.

The last I read on Ridnour is that he might not actually play on Wednesday as earlier suggested. FWIW, I won't consider picking him up until he's recovered enough from his back issues to play a couple games...

J.R. is going up money when he is on a 3 day break. Plus he should see increased minutes with Iverson gone. Pencil him in for 25 TSNP per night, and a great schedule for the next month. Sounds like a sure thing for me.

I guess a lot of us have the same problem which is to find a productive, cheap - under 2.5M - forward that Arthur is not and that Thompson may only be for one more game.
Other options Chandler, Nesterovic, Pachulia are less attractive although Chandler has the most upside potential of the 3.

Yesterday I was pretty set on acquiring today Johnson and JR Smith for Martin and West but West's good game combined with Azubuike new stinker makes me pause. Azu being the second most owned player worries me a lot so I'm rather considering today Martin and Azu for Johnson and Chandler.

Also, to what extent JR Smith is a must have starting tomorrow ? I can still do West -> Smith today but is Smith really going to be the main gainer of the AI trade ?

Finally, is Millsap a mirage ?

Florian, I like A most.

I would think both Azubuike and Arthur need to be moved. As Azubuike is owned on 909 teams and Arthur is owned on 470 teams, Azubuike has more downside potential.

As a disclaimer I own Arthur, whom I plan to trade on Wednesday, and fortunately don't own Azubuike.

Gescom:

Thanks for your advice. I'd avoid Nesterovic as he'll be out the rest of the week with a sprained ankle. Pachulia and Chandler are reasonable options, but I think Chandler's playing time is more secure.

I would definitely sell Azubuike before West as his ownership is much higher. Azubuike/Martin for Johnson/Chandler seems like a good trade. Selling West for JR Smith would likely gain some money, but I'm not sure how many points it would gain.

Florian,

Out of all your players, Arthur will lose the most tonight. You seem to have enough cash to get a decent Forward with Arthur $ and bank of $5.77. I am in a similar boat needing a F and 7 mil. Looking at AK47 at the moment.

You mention Lebron. He is hitting for mid 40's which isn't the best ever but nothing to be sad about. If you have to take a hit would you rather take it on Arthur or on Lebron who has a 3 in 4 coming up starting tomorrow?

I guess I would sell Arthur for a forward you like and then ride the Lebron train through his next three at which time you can look at the landscape Atl and Utah are providing starting 11/9

I sold Azubuike for JR Smith. Don't have Arthur.

I've still got two trades and I'm thinking Tyrus Thomas is on the way out. Are people thinking of dumping him yet or do most have bigger fish to fry? I have the cash/flex to go Thomas > J.Johnson.

I'm thinking Azu, Arthur and Thomas are all on the Tuesday fish fry menu. How and if people deal with it is purely a trade and cap issue at this point.

It's probably to late for Azu, but this just in from a Rotoworld column:

Speaking of hamstrings, Corey Maggette hit just 4-of-16 shots last night and said both of his hamstrings are in bad shape. He's talking about shutting it down to get healthy, although I'm not sure he's really ready to do that. If he does, you'll probably want to have Kelenna Azubuike available.

Considered Kirilenko, but with the return of Deron Williams I feel he'll shortly be back to averaging in the high 20s. I know they don't play the same position, but when Deron returns there will fewer touches for Kirilenko.
Arthur will lose some money tonight, but the Azubuike and Tyrus Thomas sales will help dampen those losses and I'll still be able to sell him tomorrow.

From Rotowire:

Kelenna Azubuike (G) GS 11/4/2008
Azubuike, who is averaging 12.8 points in 29 minutes a game, could be in line for more minutes if Corey Maggette's hamstring injury forces him to miss games.

Maggette injured his hamstring in Monday's loss to Memphis and has been dealing with hamstring issues all pre-season. Azubuike could start at shooting guard if Maggette can't go.

Corey Maggette (G) GS 11/4/2008
Maggette could miss some games after straining his hamstring in Monday's loss to Memphis, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Maggette strained his left hamstring the first quarter of Monday's game but returned to play in the second half.

Maggette injured his right hamstring in the preseason and has now strained the left one. "I'm really tired of these hamstrings acting up after doing all the necessary (treatment)," said Maggette. "I did what I could tonight. I had no lift, but it's something that I've got to deal with." It's unclear if Maggette will miss any time but, if he does, Kelenna Azubuike should be the beneficiary of extra playing time.

I sure would like to keep Azubuike--GF, cheap, decent schedule, potential for increased minutes.

If people didn't already own him, I think we'd be talking about him as one to keep an eye on.

I think given the Maggette news and that Thomas was playing Dwight Howard, they're not must sells at all at this point. Especially with the crappy options, and I have money to upgrade too. I'll probably hold and give them another shot, who knows, with one big game tomorrow they could both become a train. Everything is so up in the air right now.

Azuibuke will certainly take a hit, but out of the various fish I have in the frying pan, he is the best one to stay in there. He does have a solid role even if Maggette doesn't go out --- I just pray he can produce and keep the bleeding from hemorraging.

If there were some great options I'd be more inclined to sell, but really there's no one I see who isn't as or more risky. I don't want to lose the trade selling and then lose another trade when the replacement fizzles. This is all fake money right now anyway until we have more information and everything settles down. One year when I finished high I think I was down to 48.5 million two weeks into the season, it was a nightmare, but it's recoverable.

Do you see a problem with Azu and Arthur both losing 100 K or more tonight and then losing it again tomorrow? Isn't it quite possible holding both puts you @ -400? Do you really think anyone is buying either one back with those schedules?

Oh I wasn't talking about Arthur. I'd probably try to move him if I had him and didn't have Robinson / Smith / Chandler.

I was talking about Azubuike and Thomas. The possible replacements are pretty terrible and I even have 2 million to upgrade. I'm just very hesitant about buying someone who's going to put me in the same position possibly in one game. Last year was especially painful in that regard, and that was even another week into the season with much more data.
