Subject: Kentucky Indians GMD team -- TP2

- [2836246] Thu, Dec 10, 2009, 16:32
It is a long season. If I remember right, last year I was on the team that won the first trading period and ended up finishing third or forth.
I have PURPOSELY not sent out a private group e-mail after I asked for all your emails. After thinking about it, I decided that I think that would defeat one of the primary goals of starting GMD. GMD should continue to encourage dialogue on how this game is played. There is no prize for winning GMD, just personal pride. If the other teams learn something from how we play... GREAT. We need more people to play and they way I have always learned was listening/reading the posts of the the best players in the game... Look at the Hall of Fame! We are the best players in the world! It is a great blessing to be able to have the best share there thoughts! If people feel differently, I will be glad to get a forum for "private dialogue" started.
For me playing with all of you is an honor and a privilege. I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am.

I think his last two games might have made this trade Kevin Durant day???
And T-Gun and Guru... you have me thinking of skipping the dinged up Wade and moving Durant right into Chris Paul today.

I'm a tad short for both Wade & Paul if I wanted out of Durant in a 1 for 1 I assume however that he will bleed big today You know, If I went Duncan instead of Nash yesterday ;)

Durant is stuck @ G on my team. I don't have a G/F in my forward slot to make a Duncan move. Another sign I should keep Durant.

Paul tweaked his ankle today, so at least I didn't get him. He's ok I guess, but that wouldn't make me feel too good. I thought Durant was in my F's also. Ugh

Time for me to lose RV. In spite of Durant's last 3 crappy games. I decided to hold and take my extra game. Got another way into Duncan on Wed. Gonna hold Ariza through most of next week and take it in the shorts on his money losses. We'll see if patience is a virtue or if I'm just gonna fall. Curse you Marcus Camby, you screwed me again! Peace

I'm with ya. I have Durant and Ariza also and will have to hold. None of my trade options today worked, so I'll just pray for some good games from them both next week.

Everyone has to play their team their own way but I would caution you about taking a "stand" in December. I moved Durant, Love and Ariza yesterday and it was a very hard choice to make because those guys have been solid. My 3 trades projected to produce far less than the 40 pts per trade I would hope for per trade but the money gained/saved now will payoff over the next 3 months

That's been my problem the past two years. I hit a wall last year about this time because of the same short-sighted planning (having Durant as a G and no way into another position for one example). I need to focus on RV only next week before I waste away. Tomorrow morning after the new standing are posted in this thread, I'm gonna put my roster up and ask (beg) for some ideas. Gotta hope at this point that I won't lose too much the next few days.

M4L, Went Durant to Paul to day FOR THE MONEY!! I am thinking after Paul's performance today that I may regret Durant's 4 games vs. Paul's 3.
You are playing great! Keep it UP. You say that you "hit a wall last year." Don't let "hitting a wall" cost you a season! PLAY THROUGH the wall! Everyone has rough weeks... This is a marathon not a sprint. My best team (so far!) this year got hit with Larry Hughes and Karl Landry this week... Save up the trades so you can deal with that and PLAY through IT!
I STILL need to learn when to make better decisions about when I play for money and when I play for points! I tend to play for points too early and get stuck with low RV.
Learn from someone other than me!

If I had got home this morning in time, I would have gone to Paul. Durant lost 160k and Ariza only lost 20k. I still made 100k overall, so it could have been far worse.

Footnote.....
My best team traded Brook Lopez to Pau Gasol yesterday. I think that was a fabulous move!
Buying Lopez on December 2 was a fabulous move, made even better transitioning into Pau. I would like to tell you that when I bought him on December 2 that I was thinking about "transitioning" into Pau who I believe was fresh off the DL at the time. Not what happened for me....
Make your plans... Don't get set on them... Continue to plan and change your plans.... HAVE FUN DOING IT! So then you spend time adjusting your plans regular...
Mt red wine tonight is calling me to go to bed! Glad to have every one of you on my team!

Here's my plan this week thru 12/29 refresh.
Evans - hold Ariza - 12/23 > L Williams or 12/27 > ? Durant - move to Nash today? 12/29 > Paul Jennings - hold James - hold Thompson - hold Hansbrough - hold Gasol - 12/29 > Paul D Lee - 12/23 > Duncan Przybilla - hold
3.71 in the bank and I know I should fit Duncan and Paul in there.

Durant to Nash will only net you 350K at the most and won't get you an extra game unless you move that slot to Paul. I wouldn't project Nash's per game to any more than Durant in spite of his lameness the last three. Kinda sucks to do Durant to Nash today, seeing as how you coulda done it yesterday and got 220K. Kinda seems like you should save the trade now.
Is Wade in your plan, could he come from Durant or Gasol?
Personally, I'm holding Gasol long-term and going Durant to Wade. I'm also planning on doing the unpopular (apparently) move of getting Paul from LeBron, his natural trade partner. Don't feel compelled to get in there early.
You can go high or low with Ariza. Personally, I'm looking to go low (CDR if he's healthy) and spend the excess money barbelling my team.
Good luck. Peace

$ for later
Ii think you must first solve your ?'s above. I say that because of this:
If you say barring injury you will use Durant for Paul then your situatuion is this - 4 Durant games and any loss he has $ wise + a saved trade VS 5 Nash, his gains and 1 trade. The unkown is what you will get for pts. For money you can assume you will come out ahead for Nash and you can guesstimate Nash gains to Durant loss.
Durant will have to go at some point Gasol may or may not but he most likely wont be sold prior to the 30th making him the safer hold.

$4ltr not sure what you did but as of tonight, Durant to Nash still looking good and schedule wise that window doesn't close until 12/26. Sure the money changes each day but the potential for pts are still there.

I held Durant. Another situation where I wasn't committed to the trade for Nash. The 200k swing will be missed, but I figure I held him so I might as well keep him. I just hope he goes back to the real Durant tomorrow. Thanks for all the ideas and advice.

Well Didn't I paint myself into a corner I knew there was a reason that I wanted to hold Durant instead of -> Duncan
plan this week was Deng->Beasley & Nash->Paul but some idiot grabbed Duncan leaving this as a Guard only move!
Deng must go after refresh...So...I've either got 5500 or so for a Guard and No Beasley.
or...I can can add Love and pick up a 6700 Guard or...Add either Galinari or Hansbrough and get cheapie Guard

David Lee - hate to trade him the way he's playing, but should I? Amazingly, he's only at 5% ownership. Move him to Duncan or hold? It would allow me to finally move one of my G/F's to a F spot and set up some easier trading.

How does selling Lee for Duncan free up a F spot?
Just curious...

Well, the reason to trade Lee for Duncan, apart from the fact that Duncan will make money, is a two game advantage of a better player. No reason to sell Lee, but if he's your way into Duncan then ya might have to. I aint gonna be Duncanless while everyone else has him...

Ariza & Hans - leaning against this but...
Trade away Ariza after tonight if throws up another stinker? (Ownership dangerously high)
Is it extremely inefficient to trade Hans right now to D Wright? Or better to hold him thru 1/5 or later?
I have 4 trades and RV of 62.79 (a little low). Both would make me more cash, but is it wasting trades? Would give me approx. 6.4 mil to use on Ariza's replacement.

Good to be back with a team that's a bit less shambolic. Already went Dunleavy ---> Beasley. Holding Durant and Casspi, but nervous about both.
