The other thread was getting long.
Not an injury, but Arenas was looming as a popular pick up in a few days. This bears watching. |

Carlos Boozer will not play on Friday after an MRI revealed a moderate muscle strain in his right calf. Boozer is listed as day-to-day for now and will be re-evaluated on Monday. "Not as bad as it could have been," Boozer said on Friday. Boozer isn't putting any weight on his right leg and we're tentatively expecting him to be out at least a week. Paul Millsap is a must start while Boozer is down. Source: Deseret News (DonBest has him out 7-10 days)

News: Chris Paul injured his knee during the final seconds of the regulation Friday night and ended up leaving the game in overtime. Impact: Paul was trying to chase down an errant pass from David West to ice the game and appeared to land awkwardly on his knee. He was limping badly but still came out to start overtime. Once he proved he couldn't move and was playing on one leg, he was taken out of the game. Owners can only hold their breath as we wait for an update.

Rotoworld's report on Paul is very misleading. They don't tell you that the injury is a bruise, not a sprain or hyperextension. While he's listed as questionable for tomorrow my best guess is he misses one game at most but maybe I shouldn't speculate. Here's a game account:
http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2010/01/new_orleans_hornets_rally_to_s.html
You can see the play where he got hurt on NBA.com. Paul was in the game at the very end. http://www.nba.com/games/20100129/CHINOH/gameinfo.html?ls=gt2hp0020900683

Tyreke Evans left Saturday's game with a bruised left hip and will not return. He had four points and seven assists before leaving. The Kings were down 17 points in the fourth quarter when he left, so hopefully this was just a precautionary decision. We should have an update on Sunday. Dwyane Wade shot just 6-of-20 from the field on Saturday as his back was tightening up throughout the game. He landed awkwardly in the first quarter and appeared to aggravate his sore back, but wound up playing 31 minutes for the short-handed Heat. It doesn't sound like he's a risk to miss Wednesday's game but it never hurts to double-check. Jan. 31 - 12:14 am et Source: Miami Herald

Got to love the Rotoworld reports sometimes. First of all they have corrected it now to " iffy " for Monday, not Wed. But I watched the game, and I'm not disputing his back might be an issue, but he was in foul trouble most of the game. He pick up his 4th and 5th in the 3rd and was out for quite a while.
As far as the Miami Herald, I didn't scan the entire paper, but the game article reports this:
D. WADE'S DOINGS: Wade missed six of his first nine shots and then came down awkwardly in the lane with five minutes left in the first quarter and grabbed his sore back. That was all you needed to know about how, when and why his night went so wrong against the Bucks. He was clearly frustrated, and it showed in two offensive fouls when he simply bullied his way through a defender. He nearly knocked Charlie Bell out on one play midway through the game, and shot a glare down at Bell like Ali did over Liston. Between Wade's back, his fouls and his off shooting touch, this was is one he won't soon forget. Wade picked up his eight technical foul of the season when he yelled at a referee to "call the damn foul" on a play when he was hacked by Bell and lost the ball. Wade didn't go far enough to get fined. But he was clearly fuming. He finished 6 of 20 from the field, including 0 of 6 from three-point range, and had 21 points, seven assists, five fouls and four turnovers in 31 minutes. Expect him to try to hang 50 on the Bucks Monday in Miami.
So, maybe he won't play Monday, I don't know, but no where did I see anything about him being "iffy" and hopefully, he will " hang 50 " on the bucks, Monday.

I watched the Heat game and didn't notice Wade being injured at all. He picked up his 5th foul mid way through the 3rd quarter and then went to the bench. He came back with around 6 minutes left in the game and pretty much made all the plays in the offensive end afterwards. Sure he missed some shots in the 4th quarter, some 3 pointers near the end of the game that could bring the Heat back, but also drove the lane for a furious dunk as well. FWIW he looks alright to me.

Rotoworld's Tyreke report isn't accurate either. He left the game with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and the Kings down by 14. The lead was built as high as 26, then the Kings made the score respectable with Tyreke on the bench. I hope he stayed out because the team was doing well without him.

(Evans): His health is the priority, of course, and Evans said he expects to play Wednesday against San Antonio despite various maladies. He suffered a bruised left hip against Utah on Friday and was limited by it against Charlotte on Saturday.
By Monday morning, a new problem arose: his right ankle was sore.
"I put too much pressure on my right ankle because I was favoring my hip the last game," Evans said. "I woke up and it was swollen a little bit and sore. I was limping."
Evans, whose offensive game is predicated on driving to the basket aggressively and often spinning in the process, said he would rather play it safe now than let the ailments linger and possible worsen.
"You've got to take care of your body because it's a long season," Evans said. "If you go out there and play hurt, you can mess it up and make the injury worse. That last game (against the Bobcats), I couldn't give it my all. I just didn't feel comfortable being out there and couldn't really play hard."

I tore mine in August too. Man, must have been when the cool people did it. I'd say for a longer period, considering the speed/jitterbug that Paul plays at and the meniscus tear is from the twist/torque.

Marcus Thornton as many might have gone with him lately......... Marcus Thornton scored 22 points for New Orleans before leaving with a lower-back contusion after a hard fall in the fourth quarter.
"I was trying to make a play at the basket and then try to draw contact," Thornton said of his injury. "The next thing you know, I was on my back. I just got an MRI, not X-rays. They haven't told me anything yet."

Although nothing is imminent, the Bulls have discussed shutting down Joakim Noah because of the plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Noah has not been moving well and his production has been way down over the last two games. For now, Noah will fight through it and try to get some rest during the All-Star break. Look for his minutes to be limited for the immediate future and if it gets any worse, the Bulls will hold Noah out. Brad Miller has been logging the majority of minutes behind Noah. Marcus Thornton (back) missed Thursday's practice and is listed as "questionable" for Friday's game against the Sixers. For now, Thornton's injury is being called a back bruise and his status for Friday will be determined after the shootaround. It doesn't sound serious. If the impressive rookie can't go, James Posey and Morris Peterson would be called upon for extra minutes. Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune

Sam Dalembert missed Thursday's practice with a lower back strain and is listed as day-to-day. Sammy D is often nicked, but is actually one of the most durable players in the NBA. He hasn't missed a game since the 2005-06 season and we don't expect him to start now. Keep the man who is riding a streak of 12 straight 10+ rebound games in your lineup until further notice. Dalembert is likely to play, though he's battling a strained lower back that he aggravated during Wednesday's victory. He received treatment Thursday and didn't practice.

This is from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
The 7-foot Bogut left with 6 minutes 35 seconds left in the first quarter because of a migraine, a condition that occasionally affects him.
Since we've never heard of him missing time with a migraine before my guess is that it's short term, but then I'm probably the person most likely to keep a hurt guy.

WASHINGTON — The snowed-out game between the Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards has been rescheduled for March 11. The game was supposed to be played Saturday but was postponed because of a blizzard that dumped two feet of snow on the nation's capital. Both teams played in other cities Friday night, and the storm prevented them from travelling to the area. The new schedule will force the Wizards to play three games in three nights. They visit the Detroit Pistons on March 12 and host the Orlando Magic on March 13.
