37: I do agree that this trade is difficult to understand.

I can see that Barton could be emerging into a solid young player, however some of his time is due to the injury of others, leaving his mini-breakout up for debate. But IMO there is no way that he is the equal of Oladipo.

I think Greg Monroe is an obvious misfit in today's NBA. While he can be productive in Fantasy and has a place somewhere, in the real NBA he is often a liability so IMO he is not someone to target at all in keeper leagues. He has a place on teams for sure, but his move to PHO is not some precursor to a return to 30 mpg type playing time.

Oladipo has thrived and has turned into a stud. High %s, 23 ppg, 5 boards, nearly 4 ast, 2.5 threes PLUS over a steal and block a game.

MAYBE you can suggest Barton and Monroe could equal him.......but to add Ryan Anderson (admittedly a flawed player but 3 threes and some boards with decent FG and strong FT) to it doesn't add up to me.

Sorry I didn't see this discussion previously. I actually came by to ask a question (that I'll ask separately, below).

Essentially, I feel like I am selling Oladipo high. He's having a career year, but his stats as *so* much higher than his career averages I feel he's going to drop down to earth soon. He's been on my team since 2014 and he's been a steady source of treys, steals, and some points. But he's inflated this year, a lot, and it is time to move him.

Anderson, of course, is a three-point specialist, which I really don't need. I need the rebounding help of a Monroe (also, because Whiteside is my only Center-eligible player).

Nene is a throw-in.

Barton has some upside to him and I think he's in a system which will give him a lot of lead.

Johnson, similarly, is on a team where he's going to put up a lot of numbers going forward.

Maybe this has been discussed before but I've never seen it.

I've been poking around about the right ratio between points and rebounds. In the past I've probably overemphasized points as the most flashy of the stats which not emphasizing rebounds enough.

Looking at some historical data, it looks as if those who finish near the top might have a ration of about 30-35% for rebounds to points, meaning that all other things being equal a guy pulling down 8-9 rebounds/game is about as valuable in the rebounding category as a guy knocking down 25 pts/game.

[putting aside associated stats--the shooter is likely to get better FT% while the rebounder is likely to get better FG%, etc]

I'm curious is other managers also find some stats to be ones they tend to value more, and if this is reflected in drafting and waiver pickups.

I'd been thinking about the above question for some time, but it was more focused after seeing Kyle O'Quinn's stat line of last night: 4/4 from the field, 1/1 from the line with 7 rebounds an assist and a steal.

That's a stat line I'll take from a F position any day of the week, despite only getting 9 points.

7 weeks into the season ... How am I in first place?? I didn't have great keepers. I didn't get any steals in the draft. My first round pick was useless. I have three Atlanta Hawks. My players (except Love) are not playing above their heads.

Great keeper - Towns
Good keepers - DeRozan, Schroder, Love
Iffy keeper - Saric
Shouldn't have been a keeper - Aminu

1st Round pick (Lin) - Lost for season on Game 1

My starting 8 ... Using current ESPN rankings for season-to-date --
Towns - 6th
Love - 11th
DeRozan - 53rd
Schroder - 56th
Bazemore - 76th (Pick 2.11)
Saric - 85th
Green - 100th (Pick 5.11)
Randolph - 102nd (Pick 3.11)

I must be in first place just because of 'Games Played' ... Where I'm currently in 2nd. I expect that RSF, Species, TTU, and Stanforders all pass me by the end of the month.

I get CP3 back for several games and now Steph will miss at least a couple of weeks. Whyyyyy. Grrrrrr. On a serious note, I'm surprised it's only a couple of weeks. That was a nasty ankle roll.

3 of my 6 keepers are out(2 since the start of the season). My 3 first round picks are all out. All guys under 24. Since my team is obviously not competing it's not a bad thing. It's just not fun shuffling crappy guards just so I can meet the minimum games played. Also doesn't help that in always end up missing 1-2 starts a week because I forget to reshuffle my lineup. End rant

Reshuffling your lineup is the definition of staying active in the league. If you are not doing it, you aren't really even playing the game.

I've been doing it. I've missed a handful of games since I sometimes forget or incorrectly think I set my lineup and in reality I didn't. I have 30 more transactions than anyone else so I don't think you could say I'm not really playing the game.

CP3 is good at basketball. Get well soon Steph!

I also echo what RSF said in post 48. It's great to see so many teams competing. Should be fun the rest of the way.

I've been from first to worst back to first. There are periods in that whole phase where I'll forget to make some moves. Shit happens.

I think the bottom five (from experience) offers another type of competition. Fantasy players have been doing "The Process" long before Sam Hinkie. I enjoyed being terrible. Dealing mediocre players for 1st rounders...hell yes. Tanking for better picks...oh...I never would do that...(no need to look back on that...) Rotating through the ass end of the player list, looking for the next guy you can flip (or keep). I remember having and holding Mirotic when he was still a year away from the league. I also remember drafting Des Mason over Dwight Howard, although I'm not sure that was a bad move, as his FT% kill most roster builds.

I know I'm late to this discussion, but I want to throw in my two cents.

Perm Dude said, "Essentially, I feel like I am selling Oladipo high"

I want to make something clear. You are well within your rights to trade anyone you want. But there are 18 other managers in the league who could've matched or significantly beat the offer you accepted. Oladipo is 25 years old, entering his prime, as a former #2 overall selection who is currently among the top 10 players in the league right now. If you were selling high on him you would've gotten a much better package. YOU DIDN'T EVEN LET THE LEAGUE KNOW HE WAS AVAILABLE. It's truly mind-boggling.

As far as I'm concerned, you traded your best player for replacement level players. Now Oladipo will remain on his new roster for the next 5-7 years and you'll be left with a 6th man (Barton) and a big man (Monroe) with little to no chance of becoming significantly valuable again. I truly believe this trade takes you out of contention for the foreseeable future. For your sake, let's hope I'm as bad at breaking down trades as I am at rebuilding.

I need to announce that I will be stepping down as Commissioner of this league at the end of the season.

This league has not flourished as baseball has due to (in my opinion) my overall lack of leadership/pushing/prodding/etc and the league deserves better. While I enjoy G20 Hoops, I do not have the same passion for it that I do baseball, and I am done doing it half-assed.

I reached out to a few managers last year to see if any had interest in replacing me. The responses were basically a combination of "Not it!" and "Good luck". So, I have to do it the hard way and just throw it out there that I will not return to the duties, and if the league wants to continue that someone else will need to step up.

Please contact me directly to discuss. Thanks.

71: Well, in the absence of anyone stepping up to volunteer to take over, what else am I supposed to assume?

I realize my apathetic leadership has allowed the league to fall into disrepair, so I place most of the blame upon myself and apologize to all of you. That said, I am really disappointed by the equally apathetic lack of response by the league.

I have received ONE email (and only after my recent post) with an offer to possibly be a steward for the league for a year or two. Not exactly the enthusiastic permanent passing of the torch I was looking for. The league needs work in raising the standards of the participants to create a much more vigorous competition for the top, resulting in more trading and discussion. Perhaps my comparison to baseball is not fair, as Hoops is just inherently less active without prospects or more ways to transform bad teams into good teams.

I will not be returning. The league will also need a replacement for the team that blue hen jumped into at the last minute.

I will be sorry to see you go, as a long standing owner. Since this is my only fantasy sports team (outside my recent dalliance with RG-AAA), I'd hate to see this league disappear. There are definitely active teams top to bottom, so I doubt it disappears, but perhaps it does. We'll have to discuss that. Maybe you can email me activities involved as the commish, because I know I put in way to many hours into my team to be considered healthy, so I'm definitely invested.

We should definitely see if there are other owners that want in (and conversely out), otherwise, Contraction? Complete redraft? Partial redraft? Hand the titles over to me in perpetuity? Change keeper structure? Add prospects? Stuff.

I cant imagine we dont have at least 10 of 20 teams wanting to return. If we shrink the league its really no big deal, though we will have a dillema like the Big 12. Plenty of time to figure this out.

BTW, I was the one who Species mentioned in <72>, but I told him I would do it only if nobody else was interested, and I would not want to do it for more than a year or two.

So, bottom line is this, as is always the case with these leagues. Come next July/August we do a role call, find replacement managers, decide if the league needs to be shrunk or not and press on. Nothing unique about this league in that regard.

Congratulations RSF. Back to back is hella impressive.

In terms of next year, Bean has volunteered to be a steward to the league and Commish for a year or two. For now, I have added him to having League Manager authorities (along with Guru and Tosh who already have those authorities). I will wait until next summer/fall when the league is re-organizing before transferring full Commish powers to the elected commissioner of choice. That will be up to the league. My hope would be that someone steps up to lead the league forward with better, more active managers resulting in more discussion, trading and overall activity.

I am sorry I stopped being that guy.

Definitely don't think it was dominance, as it was within 1 pretty late in the season. Frankly I am surprised at the lead size...but will gladly take it.

I was fortunate that I didn't have any major injuries to my top 4 keepers. #5 (Gallo) and #6 (Hood), on the other hand, could just not stay healthy at all. Ask Species about stud injuries. That Boogie injury just decimated his team.

I think the real kicker for me was FA pickups Niko Mirotic, Bobby Portis and John Henson. Those guys killed it (especially Bobby against Niko).

Weirdest stat? 7 points on 3-Pointers, while featuring James MVP Harden. I think he might have accounted for my whole 3P total.

Favorite Player? Jrue Holiday. Easy to say Harden and Giannis, but it was great to see a fully healthy Jrue. Its been a while.

Favorite Non-Previous-Keeper? Jarrett Allen. He's probably my new #6 keeper. Dude is still 19. This years rookie class is phenominal, so much so that this guy barely registers, but thats fine my me. Capela 1.1.

Thanks for everyone who stayed commited til the end. Thanks for everyone who rejected my silly trade offers. So wanted to pull the trigger on a GO trade, but just couldn't do it. (Mumbles something about believing in Gallo returning to help with 3s...arrrrgg!)

Good luck and don't forget to tip your waiter.

Congrats to RSF!

I had the lead for awhile, but knew I didn't have the horses to compete against the big-3. I've got a studly Karl-Anthony Towns ... but RSF, TTU, and SANFORDERS all have multiple studly guys better than my #2 (DeRozan).

On 01/30, Kevin Love got injured. Two days later, on 02/01, the 'Kevin Love Fan Club' fell out of first place. It was a fun ride for a few months.

Still not bad, considering that I lost my round 1 pick for the season on game #1 of the season.

Until next time ...

Congrats to RSF again on winning it all, and all the other managers that were still fighting for top 6 up until the last few days. I did everything I could to squeeze into 6th, but ultimately fell short. Wall and Booker missing big chunks of the season cost me and couldn't make up the shortfall with replacements. I've still got a pretty good young core of keepers, so hoping to stay relevant next year.

I'm sorry to see Species step down as Commish, but understand the time commitment that is needed and desire to focus on G20 baseball. I've run keeper/dynasty leagues in the past (although not this big) and I'm willing to help out as needed, but don't have the time to fully commit either.

NBA Hoops is my #1 sports passion, and I even found myself not all that engaged early this season after the draft was over. I'm usually a "check the boxscores every night" kind of player and it was Dec before I really got into it. I think our hoops format is a little different than other fantasy sports and is harder to make trades that fit both parties. I've been guilty of throwing out some wild initial offers at times just to see if we can get a discussion going, and I'm surprised sometimes by the responses in a league this deep and with long running managers. Maybe in our older ages we are less receptive to these type offers than we used to be. I used to not care what was offered, I would always look for a counter, but the last few years I think there are only a handful of managers that seem willing to really negotiate. I think my one big trade earlier in the season was the only one of note in several years for me, so I'll go back into my hole and hope to develop my team through the draft and waiver pickups.

I look forward to next year, and given the 1-2 holes we need to fill I'm hopefully we can do that and not lose anyone else. I'd like to see this league stay at 20 and not be forced to contract.

Congrats to RSF
Sorry to see Species step down, I would also help commish in some type of CBC (Commish by Commitee? Cabinet)... does Guru already do Treasury? Perhaps we can have a Secretary of Draft. Trade Minister. Social Media coordinator. VP of Enthusiasm and Trade Talk.

I probably made more trade offers than anyone all year. And I got a few rude responses. The deals get blurry after a while when you don't get useful feedback so there probably were some bad offers. But they are always just a starting point like 2SJ said. We had only 3 in season deals. And I got 2 of them done, so A for effort.

My squad made a late push I think just from being behind on GP, and set up pretty well with keepers.I am not married to either Kyrie or Gordon Hayward, I just saw good fits to trade package deals to condense my keepers. And I really don't think I want both Celtics (considering I have 2 Sixers Trust The Process!). So anyone with Irving and Hayward interest inquire within for comparable players.

I would even package either with Cauley Stein was was incredible the last part of the season and helped push me into a top 5 finish if the pairing got me up to a 1st round talent.
