Guys, as mentioned before in posts #'s 30 and 32 let's talk some more about the baby blue and Carolina pride!
Tar Heel born, Tar Heels bred, and when I die I will be a Tar Heel dead!
One team...TaR HeeLs!
G-Payton, Francis, Barry, and Claxton F-Peja, Lewis, Harrington, and Kirilenko C-MacCulloch and Mihm
1 more day! Good luck to all, and here is to a great season!

most people seem to be going with expensive guards and cheap forwards. why is this? Walker, Duncan etc.

Walker & Duncan have poor schedules to begin the season:
Boston (Walker): 1-3-2-2 SaS (Duncan): 1-4-3-1-3
Other expensive F's:
Webber: IR Garnett: 1-3-3-3-3-3-3 Pierce: see Walker Dirk: 1-4-2-4-4 (Dirk is a possibility IMO) Jamison: 0-4-4-4 (ditto) Odom: 1-3-3 Robinson/Mason: 1-2-2-2 Martin/VanHorn: 1-3-3-3 Grant Hill: 1-4-3-3 (maybe OK, but ankle concerns) Marion: 1-4-3-3 (maybe OK) R Wallace: 1-4-4-3 (I think the best F possibilty) Malone: 1-4-3-3-3
As you can see, there aren't alot of atractive L/T holds at F.

Wally Q looked good in the preseason, but he's going to be fighting for minutes (Pike, Maggette, and even Odom will see time at the 2) early on in the season methinks and will be unable to match the production that we see now. Later on in the season, his performance will probably earn him more PT and that's when I'll take a look at him. Right now, I think Gentry wants Pike in there because he's a 3-point specialist. If Q or Maggette develop their shot from beyond the arc, their natural talent and athleticism should give them the edge for more time.
Just my 2 cents.

Alright, I've got two with two different strategies.
A: G Team Next Game Last Total Sell For: Payton, Gary SEA 10/30 @ SAC 0 3326 10,110,000 Williams, Alvin TOR 10/30 @ ORL 0 1959 5,710,000 Tinsley, Jamaal IND 10/30 @ NJN 0 0 2,250,000 Claxton, Speedy PHI 10/30 @ MIN 0 0 2,000,000 F Wallace, Rasheed POR 10/30 @ LAL 0 2839.5 8,580,000 Stojakovic, Predrag SAC 10/30 SEA 0 2262 6,750,000 Kukoc, Toni ATL 10/30 @ HOU 0 1351.5 4,790,000 Jones, Jumaine CLE 10/30 BOS 0 635.5 1,640,000 C Mohammed, Nazr ATL 10/30 @ HOU 0 902 4,040,000 MacCulloch, Todd NJN 10/30 IND 0 508 2,750,000
Trying to be symmetric, and ended up choosing Wallace to be my stud F out of the bunch. Should be easy for me to grab an early train or two, if need be.
B: G Team Next Game Last Total Sell For: Payton, Gary SEA 10/30 @ SAC 0 3326 10,110,000 McGrady, Tracy ORL 10/30 TOR 0 3401 9,700,000 Rose, Jalen IND 10/30 @ NJN 0 2549 8,190,000 Claxton, Speedy PHI 10/30 @ MIN 0 0 2,000,000 F Davis, Dale POR 10/30 @ LAL 0 1749.5 5,050,000 Kukoc, Toni ATL 10/30 @ HOU 0 1351.5 4,790,000 Harrington, Al IND 10/30 @ NJN 0 1267 3,590,000 Kirilenko, Andrei UTA 10/30 MIL 0 0 500,000 C MacCulloch, Todd NJN 10/30 IND 0 508 2,750,000 Mihm, Chris CLE 10/30 BOS 0 865.5 2,670,000
Stacking the studs at guard. Gonna try to do some racking up with Payton, T-Mac, and Rose. Will be a little tougher though to make a transition to a stud F/C.
Good Luck, and I wish everyone a great season!

I'm having trouble deciding on my last forward spot: I have almost 4 mil to spend. I'm considering:
1. Al Harrington: good schedule, good upside, lost starting job 2. Jumaine Jones: cheap, did well in preseason, not a starter 3. Kirilenko: very cheap, upside, scores in many statistical catagories, playing time unknown 4. Shawn Kemp: played well in preseason, good schedule 5. Tom Googs: starter, former all star 6. Derrick Coleman: poor schedule, will get alot of minutes, used to be good
If you don't mind helping, who out of these players would you choose on your roster? Thanks.

I know this sounds crazy, but with all the uncertainty at the back-up center position, is anyone thinking of drafting Felton Spencer?
I'm nuts, right?
But check this out. Spencer is the starting center on a team with a decent schedule to start out (not great, but decent). He's also $500k or about $1.5 less than any other viable alternative. And he's playing on a team with only one other player taller than 6'10" and that player is, horror of horrors, Travis Knight.
Bottom line: Spencer has to play 25-30 minutes a night. During the preseason, he scored 81.5 SWP in 112 minutes. If you extrapalate that number over his projected playing time, he should get between 18 to 21 per night, which, at $500k, is more than enough production to cover the slot.
The left over money comes in handy, too. I would be able to upgrade Al Harrington to Rashard Lewis with the savings, if I go the Spencer route.
Thoughts?

Rafer, errrr Skip, Unless Spencer is going to step up on defense like a Camby--he won't do much offensively. I'm not betting he does much on either with the exception of a few boards. OF course I don't bet at all so who knows right ? ;)

warriors...the reason why people are taking Claxton over Jaamal is because Clax has
A. been scoring more TSNP then Tinsley in preseason.
B. He should play alot more...Tinsley has Travis Best coming off the bench who in the end will probably see more playing time then tinsley will.
C. Dare i say, Costs less. Yes i know its only .25 mil but that still can be a factor for some.

I didn't pull the trigger on Tinsley because he probably won't get enough minutes to justify the slot. As soon as he throws up a few TO's, Best will be back in the starting slot.

BoNkA post #37:
I just wanted to get a little insight on which team you guys thought that I should put into the division.
I ended up throwing the more balanced team there. If your team is unbalanced then your options become much slimmer. Just like some guys getting stcuk with Cloutier in Hockey with trades, but no one worth moving into.
Yes, I look at skeds. Yes, I look for production. and most of all I think that everyone will be surprised about the steal that Shelby-villian got at #41.
That's my $.02 on that subject.

CAMP BATTLE
Rogers has made the battle up front interesting. It's apparent that Gugliotta will be the starter at power forward, although coach Scott Skiles has yet to make it official. He started all eight preseason games.
But Rogers has shot the ball more as he did two years ago when he was the league's top reserve, hitting more than 50 percent of his three-point shots. Jake Tsakalidis, meanwhile, missed time because of a death in his wife's family, then missed two of the last three preseason games after complaining of chest pains. Tests were negative, and he was cleared to play but didn't get into a game against Golden State and didn't start in the preseason finale.
It's possible, according to Skiles, that he will change his lineup according to matchups, starting three forwards in some situations and starting Tsakalidis in others. Rogers' ability to shoot from the perimeter can pull opposing big men out from under the basket, and he's quick enough to take them off the dribble if they play him too tightly.
