Let's get back to basketball for some fine tuning of rosters.
I've made a few injury related changes. I'm dropping Webber for Duncan, and Giricek for Ginobili. Here's my roster:
Kobe TMac Jaric Ginobili
Duncan Garnett Gooden Radmanovic
Woods McCoy
Still don't know about Ginoboli. I'm thinking about changing Radman. for M. Bradley, so I can upgrade from Gino to Palacio (is that's an upgrade?) and have a little flexibility cash. What do you guys think? |

Wagner is out a couple months last I read. But yeah, he's not suited to run the point. (yet)
Uck. I just don't know, im debating between Milt and Bimbo. I can just see Bimbo getting the load of minutes. They were resting him in preseason, and becoming the #1 mover from people switching from Milt.
Whats everyone think? I mean, there HAS to be a reason Bimbo is starting, he has to be better.

I would take rasheed and malone over ben wallace and a cheapie, karl is a consistent 22 and 10, and rasheed, although you never know, can have a lot of big nights

The reason according to the coach was that Bimbo has more experience.

I think Milt and Bimbo are both going to SUCK! but since I can only spend around 1 mil on my G position. I am stuck with one of them.

CC. Rasheed plays 9 games in the next 2 weeks (1 the week after).
If you want the max # games go with Rasheed, maybe we will become more consistent also remember Pippen is hurt so Rasheed might get more touches.

some chicago stuff
"After practice, coach Bill Cartwright announced Jay Williams had won the starting point guard position over Jamal Crawford, that Trenton Hassell had beaten out Eddie Robinson at small forward and that Jalen Rose, Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry also will start Wednesday in Boston." Chicago Tribune

Surprised there hasn't been much talk about Stromile Swift. F/C making the most of his preseason minutes and reasonably priced. I guess the consensus is that his PT will drop off in the regular season? This is my second year playing any fantasy basketball game, last year's basic game being my first. Here's my roster. Payton, Gary SEA $10,240,000 G Stoudamire, Damon POR $4,750,000 G Jackson, Bobby SAC $4,040,000 G Giricek, Gordan MEM $500,000 F Garnett, Kevin MIN $11,100,000 F Webber, Chris SAC $10,660,000 F Gooden, Drew MEM $3,000,000 F Murphy, Troy GS $2,680,000 C Samake, Soumaila LAL $990,000 C McCoy, Jelani TOR $500,000 I've got $1.54m left.
The plan is to play it safe, sticking strictly to teams with strong opening schedules. Toying with the idea of downgrading a guard so as to move Murphy or Gooden for Swift.
Critiques welcome.

Beware of that Center for the Lakers. I read somewhere that the 3rd string guy would also get minutes. Thats gonna be a wait and see project. Is C-Webb gonna play in the opener?

Thanks guys. I thought Swift was just with flu symptoms and I read yesterday that CWebb is expected to play in the opener. I do think I rememeber getting burned last year on Webber not coming back from injury when expected.

Even if webber plays tonight, I'm passing on him until he has a few games under his belt since there are other studs that are good options

Have just found time to put a roster together (nothing like waiting 'til the last minute), but it probably looks very similar to ones already posted. For what it's worth:
G - Bryant, Arenas, Jackson, Maggette F - Duncan, G. Hill, Miles, Murphy (or Gooden) C - Samake (or Gadzuric), Woods

CC and Pennygray, regarding Rasheed Wallace:
I know that preseason isn't a real gauge of regular season performance...but have you checked out Rasheed's preseason stats? He had mediocre stats and was inconsistent at best.....at least not good enough for a Forward that costs $7.77 mil.
I was considering Rasheed...but then backed off because of his preseason performance. The only consistent performer that I see on Portland is Bonzi Wells. For now, I have picked Bonzi up on my initial roster and the good thing about Bonzi is that he is a G/F.

Woods McCoy
Roster B: Kobe Ward Coles Arenas
Duncan Webber Hill Radmanovic
Blount McCoy
Simple Question, which one do you like more, A or B

I'm set with one of my two teams:
G: McGrady, Arenas, Jackson, Maggette
F: Garnett, Miles, Gooden, Murphy
C: Clark, Woods
$.57 left Maggette (G/F), Clark (F/C), and Woods (soon to be F/C) give me a lot of flexibility.
McGrady starts with 4 in 5. Since there are mostly long term holds on this team, I can then move him into a cheapie G who takes off early and then pick up Wallace if one of the Fs or Cs start poorly. Only 2 studs, but lots of mid range guys who can take off. And lots of options.

Hey Guys, just a quick favor...
Could alot of you out there with Arenas, Miles, and Woods on you teams drop them until after the roster freeze and then move right back into them? I would really appreciate it.

Bernie Slim, I would say A team is better. I look at your B team and immediately I see alot of players with question marks. Go with the safest bets to start the season. And your A team comes closer in my eyes. I wouldn't start the season with both TMac and Hill though. Next week they will probably both take a big RV hit at the same time. Of course, my chance of being right is slim to none. And Slim's out of town.

Alright, it scares me that i have a couple players no one has mentioned, but i'll try to explain them and I welcome any thoughts.
G- T-MAC G- Ginobili G- Mercer G- Arenas
F- Ben Wallace F- Miles F- Murphy F- Brown
C- Ratliff C- Olowakandi
Now, while everyone is taking cheap centers, I really think these two c's are going to blow up and will gain value as well as rack up major points. What does everybody think about Yao anyways? I opted for Brown instead of Gooden because I don't like to start out with too many rookies, since it's almost a crap shoot who's going to crash. But Gino should pan out and I think he's a solid option at Guard for SA. Mercer may be one dimensional, but he always bursts out points and should increase in value for a little bit.
I didn't get KG or TD just yet because they seem to initially drop in price because everyone drops them when they're not consistently having monster 80tsnp games. Some of my mid-range players should increase in value, which will allow me to shift up to C-Webb (I like to see how his health is after a couple weeks in) TD, or KG.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Joe Smith appears to be out for a month ( Duh ):
http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/sports/basketball/nba/minnesota_timberwolves/4391780.htm
Although this means that Loren Woods will get the nod at PF ( which is a plus ), this translates into the much needed consistent 20+ minutes for Marc Jackson.....another cheapie Center option ( which I view as a better option then Jelani McCoy ).

Sorry...to clarify the last point....Marc Jackson's schedule ( 5-3-4 )is alot better then Jelani McCoy's schedule ( 4-3-3 ).

I still can't decide between my last two guards. Should i go with
Wells/Maggette
Ward/Stockton
Hughes/Derek Anderson
I have $ 9.26 to spent for these two positions (and i'm already have bjackson and arenas). My problem is that my feelings tell me that Maggette will not see so many TSN with guards and sf like Richardson, Jaric, Piatkowski and Miller around. And i have the same problems with the Portland guards. What Do you think?

I'd go Maggette/Wells. Maggette can average upper 20s as a starting SF and the versatility you have w/ their G/F eligibility is a nice bonus.

Picadilly, I don't know how much (if at all) it effects your situation, but Jerome Williams was added to the NBA injury report today (hamstring) out indefinately. Mccoy may get more playing time. http://www.jimfeist.com/Corner/Injuries.asp?Sport=NBA

Yeah, Mercer is a safer bet. I can see Alexander breaking out and having a huge season (taking the starting role.
Mercer will score, If he chipes in a few (stl with the odd reb or ast) he'll be a nice pick and could get 25tsnp a game.
